America’s calling mixed people black is just an old discrimination tactic to deny mixed people access to white identity and privilege.

Calling mixed people black has nothing to do with pride and everything to do with erasing the whole hertiage of mixed people.

Nicole Richie, Rashida Jones, Cash Warren, Wentworth Miller, Mariah Carey may claim their black hertitage but that does not cancel out their white or creole hertitage.

And Tiger Woods doesn’t have to call himself black because he isn’t. He is biracial and he also looks just like all the other brown skinned wide nosed 100% Phillipinos who may “look more black” than a lot of African Americans but they are still not African-American. And Tiger is still 1/2 African American, biracial.

African Americans can also harbor an element of envy and resentment against mixed people and unfairly demand for mixed people to apologize for being mixed or unfairly demand for mixed people to call themselves black to somehow “prove themselves” to black people.

Biracial and mixed people are entitled to thier identities and do not have to live ashamed and beholden to anyone for who they uniquely are.

I am an Obama supporter 100%. However, I wish Obama would publicly declare himself biracial. Many black people have no problem mixed race embracing their other race/ethnicity. As long as they don’t disrespect their black heritage as some mixed race people tend to do. The other thing is, will the people of your non-black heritage accept you? There are many mixed race blacks who identify as black rather because society (outside of the black community) will not see them as anything but black. When you are part white, Asian, Latino/brown, Arab, Native American Indian etc. and they all see you as black, it’s not really the black community legislating those rules.

Barack didn’t need black approval. He is black. You don’t need “black approval” from black people to be black.

We are actually not in disagreement.

I am well aware that there are mixed people who hold disdain for blackness as well as non-black people who will only accept mixed people as black. But that still does not negate that biracial and mixed people are not black.

Personally, I think African-Americans need to pluralize their identity. I think every African-American should be fluent in Spanish and then we would be a real challenge to the anti-black illegals movement.

White is a political construct identity to regulate a status quo of superiority. Who decides who is white? The powers that be that’s who.

Of course the powers that be don’t want a person with black blood accessing white identity and privilege so they dismiss and discredit the white heritage of biracial and mixed people.

What a scary prospect huh? A black person who is also a white person. You better believe the powers that be (including the Clintons) are afraid.

They wish Obama wasn’t biracial. They hate his universal appeal. Reverend Wright hates Obama’s universal appeal. The Clintons and Wright want to “blacken” Obama not for a sense of pride but to negate half of who Obama ACTUALLLY IS in order marginalize him.

Obama has sought black approval through self-denial. At the start of his campaign he was ambiguous with his mother’s identity.

He never would say my mother was white, he would say my mother’s skin was “milky white” or “very fair”. He had to ease his biracial identity onto the forefront. And still there are black people who criticize and won’t support him because he is biracial.

Biracial and mixed people have a right to their identities regardless of who is adverse to it or trying to tell them different.

African-American people with two African-American parents come in all colors, are still African-American.

Biracial people with a black parent and a white parent also come in all colors, and are still both white and black, Biracial, not African-American.

I still feel it is rude and regressive to force biracial and mixed people to claim to only be black.

The one drop law was created by white slave owners to not share their systematic white identity and privilege.

As an Obama supporter, I think Obama should proclaim biracial identity and IMO I also think it would be beneficial if he were fluent in Spanish.

He is the diverse leader this country has been waiting for and needs. And I don’t feel Obama represents me or any other black person any less less by calling himself biracial.
