J. Cole’s First Dreamville Festival Gets Cancelled

Due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Florence, J. Cole has been forced to cancel his inaugural Dreamville Festival in Raleigh, North Carolina–30,000 fans were expected to attend.

“Due to safety concerns regarding dangerous weather, we are extremely saddened to announce today that the inaugural Dreamville Festival 2018 is being cancelled,” festival organizers said in a statement released on Monday.

“With the current weather-related information at hand, we have together decided to cancel this year’s event for the ultimate safety of both the local citizens and festival attendees,” they continued.

J. Cole was set to headline the September 15th event, along with appearances from SZA, Big Sean, Young Thug, Nelly, Teyana Taylor, Rich The Kid, and more on the lineup.

Cole tweeted out his disappointment in having to cancel the event in it’s first year, saying that they’re working to get another date in place and thanking the tens of thousands of fans excited for the event. “I appreciate everybody that was headed to rock with us. 30,000 + were expected. All tickets will be refunded. Bsafe.”

The National Hurricane Center upgraded Hurricane Florence to a Category 4 with 140 mph winds on Monday, and could reach Category 5 status when it makes landfall on Thursday morning, according to reports from the Weather Channel.
