Kanye goes off after getting a B+ from Entertainment Weekly for his “Glow In the Dark” tour performance in Seattle:
“Yo, anybody that’s not a fan; don’t come to my show. For what?! To try to throw yall to cents in? Yall rated my album shitty and now yall come to the show and give it a B+. What’s a B+ mean? I’m an extremist. It’s either pass or fail! A+ or F-! You know what, fuck you and the whole fucking staff!!! I know I shouldn’t dignify this with a comment, but the reviewer threw a jab at all the artists. I just wanna know when was the last time you enjoyed yourself. If you can’t have fun and loose yourself at this tour it’s a good chance you’re a very miserable person.
I actually feel sorry for you guys. Your job forces you to not have fun anymore. Grab a drink, holla at some nice girls, and party bitch!!! You don’t know shit about passion and art. You’ll never gain credibility at this rate. You’re fucking trash! I make art. You can’t rate this. I’m a real person. I’m not a pop star. I don’t care about anything but making great art. If you read the review the writer clearly takes several jabs a Kanye despite giving the show a decent review. A review should be about what you thought of the show not what you think of the artist as a person that’s why Ye got so heated.

If it’s about the art and he’s such an “artist”, then why does he care what critics say of him? A true artist does what’s in his heart and hopes that it connects with an audience, critics be damned. That’s the most an artist dares to hope for, more than many artists get and Kanye has that so what’s his problem? An ego-maniacal entertainer on the other hand, is someone who wants endorsements and cross-promotion deals (funny, i still remember when that was called selling out), someone who thinks that anyone who has not drank the Kool-aid is a hater, throws bytch fits because he doesn’t win awards and because a critic gives his show a B+. Someone said the review should be about the show and not the critic’s opinion of the artist, but someone should tell Kanye the same thing about “art” in general if he’s going to keep throwing that word around. If it’s about the music he shouldn’t need so much validation.

Kanye West’s Glow in the Dark tour in my humble opinion was not just a show but an experience and he put his heart and soul into his performance.Rhianna and N.E.R.D also put on a complimentary show as well. It is a reviewers obligation as a journalist to write a review for the people not for his own personal diary. However if Mr. West responds to such public attacks on his work he is being all these derogatory terms? WoW! well he will go on and do other things to make people say how they feel about him and that is ok because “..atleast ya’ll feel somethin’!”

All great artist are critical, of external criticism. And it is not just with music. It is also with great painters, great sculptors, great poets, great writers. Even Einstein, would go ballistic when his work came into question, by other physicists. To be a genius you must *****ume a large ego. For without ego, you would not have the audacity to *****ume genius. You must acquire tunnel vision. You will need this tool, in order to achieve,that which others can not. Thus when others criticize, it tampers with the fine tuned machine, the mindset which is genius. Believe me when I say this, most true geniuses, are much harder on themselves, than any critic could ever be on them. Some true geniuses, have gone insane for this very reason. Your work, is your child. How many of you would stand idly by, while your child is ridiculed? Most people, will never have to worry about this syndrome. I have to agree to a certain extent with Kanye. If you’re going to send a reviewer send someone who likes this type of music who understands. Don’t send someone who already has a negative opinion of rap and rappers. They come in with preconceived notions and compare it to the music they like. Critics like these aren’t looking for the good in the show, they are looking for mishaps or any flaws that can become a story and they define the performance by that. While Mr. West may have went overboard with the cursing and bow comments, if I was an artist who put my heart in my show to make it unique (and that it is), and have some critic come in who don’t really understand the artistry behind some rap music and review it doesn’t make sense. How can you rate something you don’t understand and don’t like.

I completely agree with Kanye 100%. I went to his concert the other night on Friday {in houston} and that wasnt any old concert, That was an experience. He gave everything in that concert and so did N.E.R.D. and Rihanna. And I had front row seats and the price was worth every penny. There is nothing wrong with being overly p*****ionate. I would rather a (Black) man stand up for whatever he believes in than live his life as an apology.
Ok I know he probably put even more into this album than he did the others due to the fact he loss his album. He probably dedicated a lot of songs to her and therefore it would be an album really close to his heart.But man up- not everything you do is going to go platinum. So it’s like get over it. listen to what other people has to say and take it to heart and do better on the next album.

Kanye is very p*****ionate about all of his work! But their is a thin line between being p*****ionate and throwing tantrums.
I think people really don’t have a clue what is means to be p*****ionate about something. Kanye does everything to the best of his ability and when something goes wrong of course he is upset. If you read his blog, he wants to make sure that the fans are getting what they paid for. He wants everyone to come and a leave with a memory that they will never lose. So everyone that has something negative to say are probably the same people that don’t know what it feels like to have any goals or p*****ions of their own. So Kanye keep doing you man and keep being a positive influence to the next young black man that has the dream. Be p*****ionate about something people!!!

Word?! I’m from Seattle and I saw him…I would have given him a C+. Hip Hop doesn’t require light shows and alien puppets to be entertaining. He was better in 2005 at the Essence Festival where it was just him on the stage and nothing else.

i went to his concert down in miami and to be honest, ive never seen anything like it in life musically. that ***** could have been a broadway show. you could really tell alot of time, thought, energy and heart when into it. it was the best hip hop concert ive ever seen. so if that show was a B+ everyone else b4 that failed as far a showmanship goes.
