Ashanti’s on a serious mission:

“R & B star Ashanti is saving up a fortune so she can semi-retire and play mum to 12 kids. The singer/songwriter, who is dating rapper Nelly, admits to having motherhood on her mind, but she wants to amass a small fortune before she becomes a mum – so she can be comfortable financially.

The savvy star holds back on buying expensive treats and instead saves the millions she gets from her film and music careers. She says, ‘I need, like, 12 (kids)… I love kids. I definitely want to get married… I’m so family oriented. I want the big wedding, I want the long marriage, I want kids. (But) I’ve got to stack my cheese a little bit more… I want to be able to bring my kids into the world nice and comfortable.’

Ashanti [says] she’s taking time to learn about how to become a successful businesswoman. She adds, ‘First of all, you have to read everything. If you can’t then you hire someone that you can trust that can help you read every single contract. ‘It’s all about your advisors. If you don’t know, take a business class.’ And the 27-year-old singer has learned so much, she’s now planning to start her own record label, called Written Entertainment.”

If Ashanti wants a dozen kids, she had better get crackin. She ought to be careful though, she can scare a lot of dudes away with all that talk. But we got to give it up to her for trying to get her mogul on. It’s nice to see a sista with her eye on the prize for a change.

    first off, i been a Shani fan from foolish til today so im not jumpin on the bandwagon like some of you- i think its cool she has real attainable goals on a positive note. but its a little disturbing to think of what she would realistically look like after popping out 12 kids. she would look something like her sister did last year wearing that too small sweater”dress” which was suspect.

    I respect Shanti for planning her family unlike too many of our women who run out there have 40 bey beys and find out ol Uncle Sammie ain’t giving them nothin but 5 years and some change. I really don’t see why ANYONE would even want kids if they don’t have that cheddar stacked WAY up!!!
