^^Actually, no dear. Weaves are GOOD for your hair if you care for them properly. If you’re always gluing tracks than YES, that is bad, but if you get a sewn in weave- it will make your hair GROW. I’m personal proof of that, and so are some of my best friends. My hair was insanely damaged at one point. I wore weaves for about a year and a half and my hair literally grew about 7in and was past my neck when I pulled out my final weave and permed it. It was nice and full too. The same for my homegirl…she cut her her like Rihanna’s close to two yrs ago, and now it’s close to the length of Joy’s hair.
Sewn in weaves give you the freedom of cornrowing your natural hair and letting it grow. If your stylist is on point you should have a nice head of hair when you decide to stop weaving.
That’s not to suggest weaves are better than natural hair or real, relaxed hair. It’s just an option, when used properly, can make your hair grow.

ME i have stopped to perm my hair i cut it last year and i was wearing wig but the kind i take off when i come home! I was wearing braids, the senegalese one very thin, that take more than 2 days to get it done and i love it! A sewn in weave is when you have your natural hair cornrowed, and your stylist uses a particular type of thread to sew tracks to the cornrows. You can opt to have your whole head covered up, but that can look fake. A lot of women opt to have the crown (which is the top of the head) free. That way you can have a middle or side part and let your (permed) hair blend in with the tracks. That way your hair looks natural. A lot of women wear weaves but don’t admit it because it looks so natural.

This happened in the WEST INDIES too. I went to a creole site from LOUISIANA and I saw a few ppl who born of a slave from the French Islands and her slave master. Obviously mixed. They were sent to school in France and when they were done found their way to the U.S. Somehow on the creole sites they are called CREOLE from Louisiana. Just because they are Mixed with a FRENCH last name. And again I was taught about them in school, because they were are from the islands.Thats confusing as hell. .CREOLE culture is a way of life also. We have creole bread, creole plays , creole dishes , u name it. Do u know OCTOBER 28th is world creole DAY. Creole musicians from around the islands as well as LOUISIANA perform in Dominica , Guadloupe or where eva its held. Louisiana creole and Haitian creole are similar( The Language) , St Lucian, Dominican, Guadaloupe, Martinique are similar, again the language. But all of us Haitian , PPL from Louisiana etc can all hold a conversation. We will understand. Its just that for some things we use different words.
Haiti’s creole is french based, but has stronger African influence, many english words and expressions included, is more “raw” , and is basically more evolved. Martinique, Guadeloupe, French Guyana, etc. is more watered-down, in a sense, and is closer or similar to “standard” french. Again I’m speaking about the language. But once agian I dont think any one is disputing that Beyonce is Creole or ppl from Louisiana. I wont dispute that creole is a way of life . Its the music we listen to or the food we eat. i mean thats mine too. But what I have a problem with and I think other Black Americans is saying that I’m half creole or half Black. I do believe that Black Americans need to respect the fact that black ppl from Louisiana have a culture of their own. I’ve been to many different states and outside the country and I’m sure outside of the four states you have named, nobody will ask you that because at the end of the day you are a black woman.
