^^Actually, no dear. Weaves are GOOD for your hair if you care for them properly. If you’re always gluing tracks than YES, that is bad, but if you get a sewn in weave- it will make your hair GROW. I’m personal proof of that, and so are some of my best friends. My hair was insanely damaged at one point. I wore weaves for about a year and a half and my hair literally grew about 7in and was past my neck when I pulled out my final weave and permed it. It was nice and full too. The same for my homegirl…she cut her her like Rihanna’s close to two yrs ago, and now it’s close to the length of Joy’s hair.

Sewn in weaves give you the freedom of cornrowing your natural hair and letting it grow. If your stylist is on point you should have a nice head of hair when you decide to stop weaving.

That’s not to suggest weaves are better than natural hair or real, relaxed hair. It’s just an option, when used properly, can make your hair grow.

ME i have stopped to perm my hair i cut it last year and i was wearing wig but the kind i take off when i come home! I was wearing braids, the senegalese one very thin, that take more than 2 days to get it done and i love it! A sewn in weave is when you have your natural hair cornrowed, and your stylist uses a particular type of thread to sew tracks to the cornrows. You can opt to have your whole head covered up, but that can look fake. A lot of women opt to have the crown (which is the top of the head) free. That way you can have a middle or side part and let your (permed) hair blend in with the tracks. That way your hair looks natural. A lot of women wear weaves but don’t admit it because it looks so natural.
