Congratulations: Store Clerk Runs off With a 1M Lottery Ticket

Posted by Bossip Staff

A Texas store clerk pocketed a customer’s winning lottery ticket, cashed it in and left town quick, fast and in a hurry.

After a customer handed the clerk his ticket and asked if the numbers were called, the clerk said no, pocketed the ticket and cashed it in.  Apparently, the customer had no idea he had the winning numbers and trusted the clerk to be honest with him. The clerk got away with about $750,000 after taxes when he took the ticket to a lottery claim center in Austin and then had the money wired to a bank account.

Officers believe the clerk went back to his native country of Nepal.  We know that 1 million will go a long way there. If convicted, the man could face up to 20 years in prison.

I guess that was just too good to p***** up.

You got to pay attention when it comes to your lotto numbers. Come on now. People are gunning for extra dough.

  5. whoozdat1

Dateline just did a special on this! I check my mom’s numbers online for her now.

  6. Kia

She should not have given him her ticket.. Dummy!!

  7. Aunt Viv

    That’s a da*n shame. Wow…

I check my numbers online-don’t trust the store clerks. Didn’t they just bust a so-called Lotto ring recently for this?

  8. Da Hook

That’s why people need to learn how to read and write. Just look at the number yourself

  9. Nique

LMAO!! Thats what happens when you dont go online or call the number on the back of the ticket!

-whats up with the pic though??

  10. Fabulous is Contagious

The Karma that man is about to receive for stealing this ticket is going to be ignant! Surely you will reap what you sow. YIKES!

  11. Alrighty Then...

  12. Camille

How can they prove that the ticket was the customer’s to begin with? What a shame.

  13. Dumb*****!

  18. Don't think I Won't Hitch Yah...Cause I'm Famous (I Believe in KARMA)

@Camille…I was thinking the same thing. Unless they have a video of the customer and clerk together. But if that was the case. The customer will get their’s. And for the Clerk — watch it Karma is a MF…SMH!!!

  19. 2cents

I wonder how long it took the ***** to realize their ticket had won.

  20. Unkle Ruckus

*****, they tell you to sign the back of the ticket as soon as you get it. That would have been enough to stop him from cashing it.

  21. VA

  22. AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWSHADDAAAP!!!!!!

Ahh hell no. That’s grounds for a cap in the ***** right there.

  23. LBCER

That’s why you should sign the back of the ticket.

  24. *****CATFUN

  25. Roe

    Too Funny!

  26. Yeah

That happened in Grand Prairie, TX not Prairie View, TX.

  27. POLO

I never trusted them store clerks. The clerks sometimes will take the ticket and put it in the trash. At least here in the DMV the new lottery machines tell you if you won or not and you can scan your ticket yourself.

  28. aleximaq

I am so glad they have the automated machines here…I know if I hear “We’re in the Money”…playing…I better be getting my money….

  29. DontBFooled

It’s called always “sign your tickets right away people,” even if you don’t think it’s a winner! Whoever signs it is considered the owner. If you sign it, the lottery will take notice if it appears to be tampered with. They can backtrack to the point it was checked as winner focusing on security cameras. Some people never learn. You do not simply hand over your ticket to a minimum wage clerk or anyone for that matter. You can always cross out your signature later if you are sure that it is not a winner to prevent others from trying to copy and forge your name. Better be safe than sorry.

  30. elektrikeccentrik

    @ Camille
nice name… i don’t meet any people with my name
shame on the customer for being so trusting. its a recession.

  31. tasha lisa jamaican princess

THATS MY MONEY RIGHT THERE I DNT PLAY WITH MY CASH….
FIRST OF ALL THE CLERKS ARE AS JUST AS BROKE AS THE PERSON WHO IS CASHING THE TICKET, OR IS EVEN MORE BROKE….
FOR SCRATCH OFF THEY CAN SCAN IT BUT THEY HAVE TO GIVE ME BACK MY TICKET.AND FOR THE LOTTERY I SCAN MY OWN TICKER OR LOOK IT UP ONLINE,SIGN THE BACK OF YOUR TICKETS GUYS…. THEM CLERKS BE CROOKS/THIEVES…

  32. T-BREEZY

That’s hilarious! I would’ve took the money and bounced too!

  33. i gotta say if i was the clerk i may have done the same thing and go back to my native land where the money would be super long

  34. GoodKarma4Me

I cant even blame the clerk…that customer is a dumb *****. Karma never works…that clerk is laughing all the way to Nepal…HA HA HA….SMDH

  35. @GoodKarma4Me

How do you have good karma if karma never works?

  36. Rihanna's sharp n pointy witchy fingernails took the oath

actually, if people understood the concept of what “karma” truly means, they’d know that it really means the thief will suffer in the end. That money will come and go or bring him much sufferage. I hate liars n thieves.

  37. MS AJJE

  51. bococalady

now we have the new machines in nyc where u can see what you won, but i dont agree with this because someone can see your winnings. i say look online for your numbers and that way these scammers cant win.

  52. eve

The store clerk went back to Nepal. Everyone is talking about Karma. Isn’t Nepal on the side of the world where karma is born. Man he may have a terrible time at home. Karma is going to tear a chunk out of him. If his family finds out they may not touch him for fear his bad Karma may rub off on them with that dirty money. He’s got it bad all around. Come back here go to jail. Stay in Nepal and get karma ganked.
