Newlyweirds Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey (Cannon) were made their first public appearance together last night outside the Waverly Inn. They are an odd item indeed. Word is Nick prevented Mimi from dropping $4 mill on a lavish wedding:
“The 38-year-old singer — known for her diva demands — had arranged a $4m wedding, but Cannon said it was his way or the highway. Mariah had: Ordered $1m worth orchards; booked a huge event at New York’s St Patrick’s Cathedral; arranged a pink carpet to be rolled out to announce her arrival at the Cathedral; ordered 60 white doves to be released while she and Nick were making their vows; and commissioned a $20,000 Vera Wang bridal gown and matching bridesmaids frocks. And now, because Mariah agreed to the small ceremony, pals [say] Nick has cured her diva-ish ways.”

Please shut the f@ck up! Mariah does not need to ‘want’ to be black, and she did not live in the ‘white’ part of Long Island. Her mom was poor, and they moved around a lot, all over NYC, and was never in a ‘well-to-do’ area. They didnt have a place to call home most of the time because they had to stay with friends and family in various areas of the city. And her father is black.

Mariah Carey — yes, she’s married, it’s confirmed, it really happened down there in the Bahamas. She is now Mrs. Nick Cannon. You always thought you’d marry Mariah? Well, you’re too late now!
More importantly: Miss Mariah and Mr. Cannon have a very nice prenuptial agreement.
Mariah apparently told a mutual pal of ours: “Anyone who thinks we didn’t have a prenup is smoking something!”
This is not the Mariah Carey of old. She is a smart, smart businesswoman. For example: Post-Tommy Mottola, Carey nabbed $50 million from her short-lived deal with Virgin Records. After “Glitter,” they just paid her all that to walk away!
She’s had three hit albums since then: “Charmbracelet,” “Eman*****tion of Mimi” and the current “E=MC2.” She has her own perfume line, as well. Mariah also has substantial real estate holdings, and let’s not forget the publishing royalties. Her name is on every song. This is not Whitney. She has a small fortune, and she’s not about to lose it, even in love.
As for the wedding, I know this much: Mariah’s cousin, Shawn McDonald, walked her down the aisle. And the Bahamas ceremony will not be the only one. When Mariah and Nick return from their honeymoon, expect a big party and maybe even a second ceremony, something not so secret, for all the singer’s New York pals.

Do people even know what love is? Really? After a few weeks or even a few months of meeting someone, you are still in the romantic stages; everyone’s in “love” during that time. How are you going to know how a person will react when the hard times hit? What are they like beneath the facade of being perfect? Why is everyone is such a big rush to make a life long commitment to someone they barely know? No hate here because I don’t know either one of them, but in my opinion, people live in a fantasy world. I hear people say, “well so and so got married after two days and they lasted.” Please. Some people play Russian Roulette and miss the bullet. No wonder the divorce rate is so high. I’m not saying they will divorce – I don’t know. To me, marriage is very serious and it takes time to cultivate a marriage like you would a garden. You just don’t plant a seed and it grow overnight. You water it, nurture it, etc. Anyway this is my opinion, but more power to em.

Mariah Carey is like many people in the world — multiracial. Her father was Venezuelan/African-American and her mother is Irish-American.
She embraces both her African and Irish roots and more recently her latin roots as a result of the death of her father. Though as a child it did create some confusion and insecurities.
Think back to when Mariah originall arrived on the scene. The curly, unruly hair. What you see now is the result of a good blow dryer, flat iron and product. Don’t let it fool you. My daughter has the same beautiful hair.

Hey, I wanted to to chime in on Mariah’s father…He was half black and half venezuelan. Her grandmother was black ( born and raised in Alabama) and her grandfather was venezuelan ( born and raised in Venezuela. Now her grandfather could of had some African ancestry in him too due to him being Venezuelan.
