    Just a really bad situation all around… You want to hold her accountable for her crime… but you also feel for her. I’m sure this is not the last we’ve heard of this story…

  • http://BOSSIP Damn D

    So so sad.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bD-ZYb0HL0 I’m Just Me: Keeping It Real Since 1983

    WOW!!! She sounds so intelligent. Daxn. This is a messed up situation and i hope for her and some of the others given life sentences at a young age, that there will be some justice. This had me in tears, because I can see her hurt but I can see her level-headedness as well and I think she deserves another chance. Personally.

  • Mom

    This is the kind of case we should do something about. This girl was victimized and beaten by a dog who took advantage of her to sell her for money. Pimps are animals and deserve to be killed. Her case needs more publicity, I feel so sorry for her she probably had nobody to turn to for help.

  • http://yahoo shon

    now this is so wrong.unbelieveable people

  • leavingacomment

    This so sad. She is clearly an intelligent young woman; she deserves the chance to start her life over, go to college and move on with her life. This is truly an injustice- people should be commenting on this instead of the rest of the irrelevant trashy gossip that has no value. I hope she gets the chance to appeal.

  • k

    she should not be imprisoned for killing her rapist “master”

    do yourselves a favor, go to youtube…listen to TUPAC’s song “16 on Death Row” this song paints a vivid picture of the misguided youths in America’s penitentiaries

  • B3 Fearless

    I can’t believe this has si few cooments. This is sad. I can’t believe a judge would commit a child to a life sentence in this situation. The man was a pimp! hello?! And pimping a minor at that!

  • AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWSHADDAAAP!!!!!

    That’s not Mariah Carey in ‘Precious’?

  • missrae

    this is such a sad story i hope people will rally fo her and find for her freedom i know i am gona tryna. i think its disgusting to sentence this girl to life with no parole for killing someone who abused her and took her innocence. hopefully things in this world will start changing very soon for the sake of our children and generations to come

  • Natalie

    Awwwwwww man she is already 29 so she as been locked away for like 13 years already. This is very sad :-<

  • Progressive Sista

    @Mom
    I agree! We do need to bring some attention to this case. Black people went running out of their homes to defend Jena 6 and Gernalow Wilson, all people who did something wrong but when this sista is a victim and needs help, we are no where to be found.

  • Anon3

    she killed a pimp…..I mean it’s wrong and all but he turned her out at 13…not to mention her mother who abused her and drugs…..maybe she did plan to kill him but I think she has done enough time (13 years so far)….give her a break

  • smh1

    For all of you posting that her pimp was an ‘animal’, you are racist.

  • Sexy&Smart

    RETRIAL!!! hope she gets out on appeal…this is disturbing!

  • Dunka

    I remember this story and I also knew of G.G’s other girls. Those girls couldn’t come home unless they had $500 every day. All his girls had big butts and one white girl had a bad butt job trying to fit in with the black girls. I heard he was brutal. He put one girl in the trunk and rode around with the music full blast.

  • whoanelli

    The black community gorifies ‘pimping’ all the time. Jay-z ‘big pimpin’ nellie ‘pimp juice’ and all that mess.

    This poor black girl is what pimping really is.

  • breeee.

    i just want to hug her.

  • MS TRUTH

    Crazy!! Oprah get on this ASAP. This needs to be addressed. Her pimp was a jackass that preyed upon young girls. this is such a sad situation.

  • icey2873

    Her WHITE judge should have all of this come back to him 10 times fold, and it will.

  • H2O ***THE WATER BOY***

    Ah Ha!!!Pimpin iz Dead…PImp Down

  • Silken Dove

    This is why the thought to murder shouldnt cross ones mind. I stay away from people who would drive my life downhill, because downhill is downhill no matter what it is! She chose that route from the very beginning for whatever weak a$$ reason.

  • icey2873

    @Rose by any other name, I agree with you 100%. Where is his justice at??? he did not get life but yet, he in fact killed TWO people…. isnt that screaming that justice is BLIND like it’s written????

  • GoodKarma4Me

    My heart goes out to this young lady. She does not deserve to spend her lifetime in prison. Ppl need to fight for this girl’s life…and I intend to do what i can to help.

  • icey2873

    That lil white boy CHOSE to kill TWO PEOPLE…. justice is so blind, WOW.

  • GoodKarma4Me

    I just knew her judge had to be white..SMDH

  • 3LuvMe*

    how tragic, i deff, pray that an appeal can be made for this situation.

  • icey2873

    And again, the lil white boy that CHOSE to kill those 2 men, what did he get???? Nothing compared to white this girl got…..

    I cosign 100%. Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent are P.I.M.P.s. You got a real live pimp, Majic Don Juan, calling himself an Archbishop. David Banner is like a Pimp, Bun B is missing Pimp C, and 8ball and MJG Pimp Harder. It got way out of hand and For all the hate, I’m happy to see this new generation of happy, dancing, party rappers like Souljah Boy.

  • Ms. J

    Maybe I am a little “cold hearted” in this situation. I have had quite a few foster children who have been in similar situations. Usually, there is ALWAYS a way out of a bad situation. But I found that many of these kids were “drawn” back to continue the same life they were accustomed to living. Even with therapy, foster homes, intervention ect.; most of the time they weren’t able to change their ways. In fact, they embellished and bragged about living that type of lifestyle…. just say’n that before the 16 yr. old killed her pimp; she probably had other options but chose the latter… it’s sad either way.

  • lainy

    This is a shame. I do not understand why they can not label her case as self defense. Clearly she was taken advantage of at a very young age. She is an educated black women with a positive future. She is now 29yr old and I feel she has paid for her crime. Petitions should be started to free this women and let her now live her life. This is a disgrace.

  • icey2873

    Ms. J, PLEASE don’t have anymore foster kids in your home, your comment said enough.

  • Plain Jane

    For those who are interested, she has a myspace page along with a link to sign a petition

    http://www.myspace.com/freesarakruzancampaign

  • Alrighty Then…

    I’m on the fence with this, cause I do feel like there should be some consequences, life in prison is too much, especially for killing a worthless piece of shit… I do hope at some point there is a reversal here and she is able to go free…

  • QweetTheQueen

    I only opened this up to see how many comments this would get and I’m truly not surprised. Funny how we tend to comment about “BS” and gossip but when it comes to helping someone in need or changing a life only a few of us stand up.

  • Crank That

    At 16 years old you shouldn’t even be a prostitute! I haven’t heard not one person on this comment wall say that.

    And good for her, maybe she’ll learn next time to stay in school and not try to grow up so damn fast.

  • icey2873

    @ Ms. J, if you feel that the kids you had in your home was still “drawn” back to that life, then maybe that is saying something about you. Either you are flat out lying (which for some reason I truly hope you are cause you sound VERY much like you can’t be a leader when it comes to kids, being you should close your door cause you still need leadership when it comes to kids)or you just take in foster kids for the money, not giving a damn what the kids go through. You chick, is not fit for a foster mother…. the kids are better left off when it comes to you (which is so sad!)

  • icey2873

    @QweetTheQueen, I see you have a mature stance about this! I agree 100%! Some people on here is just typing just to type, to see how childish and small minded their parents raised them out to be….

  • http://www.twitter.com/dopestimulation Dopestimulation

    I AM GOING TO HELP HER…..STOP TALKING….ACTIONS ARE LOUDER

  • huey from ducktales

    This is what Frankie would say CODE BLUE, cuz that MAN IS DOWN!! Yeah im wit that Blacks glorify everything thats EVIL and BAD!! Are we black angels…its one thing to do some evil but its another to glorify it, up lift it, and make it the popular thing!! You got these lil nappy headed boys running round here talking bout they pimps and big pimpin get the f0000 outta here!!! Free that women NOW!!!

  • Peachykin

    My heart goes out to this young lady. She does not deserve to spend her lifetime in prison. Let start to fight for this girl’s life…and I intend to do what i can to help.

  • Lisa

    How did she kill him?

  • Ms. J

    @icy; since you can do a better job with foster kids….do it! But be fore warned, you can’t have a criminal record.

  • Tired of the HOODERY

    How can we help this girl or find out more on her story?????????????? please let me know, someone, anyone!

  • Magz

    Poor intelligent sweetheart. If you ask me she did the right thing! God bless her. She’s actually sorry for what she did. She was a child taken advantage of by a worthless good for nothing parasite. If she gets out she should go and spit on his grave!

  • Ms. J

    hey people, if every person killed somebody that sexually or physically took advantage of them when they were young, there wouldn’t be enough prisons in the world to hold everybody…. I was looking at a crime channel where a white boy killed his grandfather, who physically beat him all the time. The small town admitted they’d known the grandfather was mean & brutal to the boy in the past…the judge gave the boy life without parole… Many of us on here have a reason to murder someone, but we chose other options….just say’n….

  • nola

    this is f#%^ed up….our society creates criminals (some not all, some are just crazy)and then punish them…now this is just unjustice….she is a victim and her sentence is unfair.

  • Ms. J

    @icy…clearly it’s a full moon tonight, cuz you are acting like a wolf. You obviously can’t read, I’m a professional and make the salary myself. I can clearly live off of 72k by myself. you are dead to me…but obviously I struck a nerve (maybe you’re a previous foster child, if so, I understand your anger…. anyway, be gone.

  • Ms. J

    @icy….Got damit take your dayum medicine!!

  • AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWSHADDAAAP!!!!!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Yours is a sensible approach to this case. We really do not know this girl. Of course, she is going to be presenting herself as a victim to stir sympathy in the viewer. Nobody in jail is guilty. I’ve come across so many cases where the convicts purport themselves to be a certain way – and then when they are investigated fully, their families, friends and acquaintances are interviewed, you are disturbed by the testimonies and you find out that your initial impression was completely wrong. It takes a certain kind of person to take a life. And there are all kinds of agencies set in place to assist young women and men who are caught up in these kinds of situations. All you have to do is pick up The Yellow Pages/ White Pages and dial the ’800′ number. Some choose not to. They are caught up in the quick money and fast life. Either way, it’s a choice that you make. MAKE BETTER DECISIONS. I don’t know this young lady. But I’m sure there is much more to the story. I’ll basically reserve my own verdict until I hear the full story. When the other shoe drops, many of you may be quite surprised at the revelations. Stop being so quick to whip out the RACE card.
  • always knew
    this is cruel and unusual punishment…This is wrong. yes, she did kill her pimp, look at her AGE!
    This is wrong, she should not be locked up. She needs to be in evaluated in a medical setting…She had been conditioned to be desensitzed, being exposed to the streets at such a early age… Damn, this is so sad…
    She’s 29, now? She has been locked up, long enough… What about what the PIMP did to a YOUNG CHILD? How come noone looks at that? Turning her out at such an early age, I doubt she knew what she was up for…. :( This whole situation is bad…
  • Ms. J
    @awwwwshadd….. thank you for that intelligent comment. More people on this site (icey) should speak with common sense… I’m glad you see that she could have made another choice. So many people on this site always have excuses for everything…. (you’ve made me have hope for the human race) have a great weekend!
  • icey2873
    @ always knew, I agree 100%
  • Red
    I would have felt for her situation without regard to complexion, education or verbal eloquence. I know pimps and I know young girls. I’ve made my share of mistakes, as many others have but we should remember one thing…
    But for the grace of God, there go I.
    There is no other legal system, there are just others in the legal system. The judge felt she had no morals or scrupples because of her 13 year old attitude before and during the trial. I know many 13 year old attitude displaying, so called “hood rats” that have grown up to be respectful and responsible adults (including one of mine).
    Think about it, remember when you were 13? Not saying you would have killed someone who was abusing you physically, verbally and financially, but just remember the person you were. Are you the same now? Did any of those young ladies you raised to graduate college ever display unacceptable behaviors? I’m sure they did, but they had you. My girls had me! There are many judges who have understood that and gave lighter sentences with counseling and mental health assistance.
    That’s what I’m attempting to say. No possibility of parole… come on now!!!
  • icey2873
    @Red, again 100% agreed, POINT BLANK!
  • iAmKing
    16? More like 36!
  • Red
    Charles Manson, convicted of 7 counts of first degree murder while commiting other crimes was eligible for parole after less than 10 years. He’ll probably never get out, but he has had 11 parole hearings over the last 20 years.
    She gets “no possibility of parole???”
    Talk about random ridiculousness!!
  • Miss J
    This is crazy!!! Only 40 comments?
    I had to fight back the tears @ my desk I need to follow up on this story because justice still needs to be served for the way she was wronged!
    You’re in my prayers Sara!
    Bless ♥
  • This Ish Is Funny
    This is exactly why I am in law school. It’s so sad how minorities get railroaded by the system. I am currently almost 23 and I am a totally different person than I was at the age of 16. They didn’t have to give her life without parole. I mean wtf. These harsh type of sentences hurt more than help. The prison system is meant to make money off minorities. Thats why they are starting to be owned privately. They are building more. When you build prisons someone has to occupy them. Just sad
  • notsomuch
    @ Red, Always Knew
    I’m not sure if you got Ms J’s point fully. It wasn’t whether you feel her sentence is too strong because she’s pretty, light skinned, and speaks well. The questions is more about if she wasn’t. If she was some ugly girl with bucked teeth who didn’t speak so well and murdered her pimp who turned her out at 13 … would we still feel the same way? That’s a hard question for me to answer because as much as I don’t want to be biased, I know one of my initial thoughts was being surprised at how well she spoke and her demeanor.
  • mai2cents
    so sad. hopefully she’s still able to appeal..some how?!
  • icey2873
    @Red, you can lead a horse to water BUT… You are speaking the truth! Tell it!
  • icey2873
    To the people that agreed that this was wrong justice, ok. She knew what she did was wrong. At least she KNEW that was wrong! What is so wrong with HELPING a person like her? Yeah, ok….. cast the first stone! It doesn’t have to do with ANYTHING when it comes to murder but yet, some feel “they are angels, it’s not the same” SIN IS SIN!
  • icey2873
    And speaking of, “SIN IS A SIN”, YOU BETCHA! THAT GOES WITH SINNERS and NON-SINNERS! The same thing GOES FOR EVERYONE! Some people are gonna either RALLY for her OR go AGAINST HER or better yet… BE IN BETWEEN! Justice is blind so anybody that can read, they should know where I stand…..
  • http://yahoo.com mzprettylady
    This is horrible, I’m going to pray for her and sign the petition, she deserves some justice in our very failed system. =( keep your head up baby girl God will bring you home.
  • http://bossip MoniSings
    Sad, so sad. It all starts in the home. For her to say she had no clue of what “Moral Scruples” meant just hurt my heart. I’m not saying that there aren’t children from good homes who stray. But that percentage is certainly far less than the ones who are neglected and abused, and look for love in all the wrong places – like a low down, junkyard, gutter pimp.
    What a tragedy of our justice system. I hope she is able to appeal and her conviction is overturned. There are white predators who kill [Black] prostitutes and get less time.
  • notsomuch
    @Red
    Ok. I didn’t go that far up, just saw your reply to that one post. I can see both sides of your points, it’s sad situation all the way around.
  • MistaO
    G.G. was a pedo, therefore, based on the FACT that most of us believe that pedo’s should receive the Death Penalty, this young lady should be FREE!!!
    No way she should be serving life…
  • http://bossip Tee
    This is a shame…where is Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson. This is a case of a racist judge who hates black people in Kanye’s Voice.
  • trina1126
    Man that’s just sad can anyone say court of appeals. They should’ve put me on that jury She wouldn’t have spent a minute in jail. If anything she needs counseling this breaks my heart and I’m only 18.
    Poor Baby.
  • sexy
    Men abusing women WHEN WILL IT STOP WHEN WILL IT END. Verbally, physically, emotionally. Preying on the weak is not a good look.
  • Butterscotch
    I think the judge did not understand what moral scupples was to sentence her this time. What if his daughter was put into the same situation.
  • sugar
    this is so damn sad… she deserves a second chance.
  • Auntie Noxy
    It’s wrong that she took this mans life but he took hers too. He brainwashed this baby, had her thinking that he cared when all he was doing was playing on her emotions. I’m sure he was fully aware of the things this child was going through at home and he used that against her. It’s one thing to be in a one parent household but when the only parent you know is a drug addict and abuses you that could do a lot of damage mentally and physically. She is young and this man had control over her mind and body but the judge couldn’t see that this child was the victim of all sorts of abuse? It’s not like she was a serial killer.
  • muchluv
    he took this child’s life, what judge could dole out such a sentence unless he/she was able to empathize with the pimp…we need to check out our judicial officials.
  • http://www.bossip.com PhillyinDubai
    16 years old? Give her Mom half the time for not being a mother.
  • love me or hate me!
    This is such a sad story I can say so many things on this case it’s unbelieveable how screwed up our justice system is.I was just reading an article in ebony magazine that I recieved in the mail last week about human trafficking and it’s crazy how this is ignored this is not your typical sexual abuse it’s all immoral but this is beyond immoral and these young children don’t know any better.I feel for her and wish there was something we all could do by coming together and helping her out bc this is so sad,it’s another body that don’t deserve to be in prison taking up a space where a pedofile could be in.It’s so crazy how a pedofile only gets a slap on the wrist then is set free and all they have to do is post a pic and info on a website and here you have a child not even an adult at the time defending herself from a person who was probably going to kill her anyways and she gets life in prison with no chance of paroll really,where is our justice.I’m quite sure if that had happened to the judges daughter he probably would’ve killed the man himself.My prayers are with this young lady.
  • SMDH
  • bossip needs to quit
    If she was white, this would have received national coverage a decade ago and her sentence would have been overturned given the circumstances of the situation.
  • Yoda
    The pimp must’ve been supplying the Judge.
  • MELISSA
    MAN GIVE HER, HER FREEDOM…KMON NOW SHE WAS ABUSED..LIKE SHE DID THE RITE THING..GOD KNOWS ALL THESE YOUNG FEMALES SHE SAVED…
  • KPN
    Shame…
    I know that she must be accountable for her actions but life? there was a 18 year old that killed het father in the later 80′s and she is now free and was on oprah. this girl needs a different lawyer thats all. Maybe she can appeal
  • knifight
    She might be a cold blooded killer with a good story.. I dunno. (and btw there *ARE* some innocent people in the system doing hard time for all you cynics out there – like you’ve never heard of crooked cops!) But at 16 everything you experience is incredibly intense – at 16, there were times I wanted to kill someone for a something fairly small like a late hit or a face mask foul in a football game or something (I didn’t do it ’cause I had good parents and coaches etc.) I can’t imagine how intense her revenge motivation must have been after 3 years on the streets. I mean 25 – 30 years I can see… but *life*? for killing a brutal pimp who put her on the street at 13? I’m thinking that there’s more to this… She must have done G.G. real *REAL* ugly.. pain & torture ugly.. for the judge to give her life. I bet the details of her case might make us all pause for a minute on getting her released.
  • Supply
    I will pray for her situation. Life at 16 years old!
    @ Knifight, true she may have done something brutal. This man abused her, no telling what horrible things he did to her and countless others. She was just a child.
  • pkmelody
    It was okay for him to take her life, but when she took his she gets life in prison, in downtown chicago you see pimps and prostitues all the time no one stops them, and it complete B.S
  • http://yahoo shon
    u don’t need to know the details on this case.she doesn’t deserve to be in prison and for life. she needs to be givin a life first.
  • Lou_Lou
    The only question I’m left asking is, where is Obama when you need him? busy attending luncheons and receiving awards he didn’t deserve. God knows how many more girls are going through this kind of [expletive] Obama’s not really there for the less fortunate black folks. SMH
    @Ms. J, is it necessary to post how much you make a year and your daughters accomplishments? Congrats! But putting things in perspective, who cares! You’re not doing much, considering i’m 24 yr., a MAGNA c. laude from Howard University, who works fulltime and a 2L in law school, and I make just as much as you!!!!
