i read the book, actually i read all but the last “singing, swinging and getting merry like christmas” and the books are not appropriate for elementary school children. I don’t know about middle school. The books deal with rape, prostitution, teen pregnancy, drug use. I understand that many of these things are every day viewing but the school can dictate it. if the parents want their chidren to read it at that early of an age they can buy it for them.
