Advertisement is about marketing towards the audience you want to reach. So if they didn’t think it was cute for little girls to dress like this they should have went in a different direction. Kids grow up fast enough as it is, these are not the days of any type of innocence anymore, you have to be VERY careful with the moves you make. If it’s a kids line the kids should look like kids, not mini Beyonce’s.

The background is to show that the little girls are playing DRESS UP..the HOD clothes themselves are age appropriate, then the little girls added the grown up shoes, jewelry and shoes. This is what LITTLE GIRLS do, play dress up in their Mom’s clothes on top of their regular clothes.

My Mom let me put on makeup, a bra on top of my shirt, take my hair a loose, put on her heels WHILE I WAS IN THE HOUSE and I know that it was BIG GIRL stuff that I cldnt do for REAL until I was a BIG GIRL. I put red on my lips for play but when it was time to go to school or out the house, I got the chapstick. I could paint my nails pink but when it was time to leave the house it got removed and only had clear gloss or light peach. I got swing my hair all day long in the HOUSE but going out it was plaited into to two neat ponytails and one bow at the bottom only.

So what if it is advertisement. The whole point of advertisement is to lure the consumer into purchasing that particular item and to make it appealing to that targeted audience. So when little girls (who are already too grown for they age) look in magazines or see posters in the stores of other little girls they age dressing like GROWN women and then ask their mama to purchase, then what? The problem is there is too many suggestive things in the world that give people/children the wrong message. Too many children’s innocence is being stripped away as it is. Parents & not this ad are responsible for raising their children. Advertisements are mere marketing tools to sell a product. I don’t see them taking away innocence here. If anything these are just child models. Now if there was anything suggestive…i.e. kids posing in compromising positions, then I would most definitely have a problem with it. To be perfectly honest ads are still in my opinion marketing tools no more no less. They advertise cigarettes but I don’t smoke. That could be because I’m not easily influenced by what the “in” thing is. I’m also married and both of us make sound decisions when it comes to the one I have. I’ve seen ads just like this on television and in mags, so I think people are tripping because its HOD. The clothes do look cheap and tacky but I don’t really see the kids being suggestive. The clothing is appropriate, the accessories could be construed as suspect, but its harmless. Little girls do play dress up to look like mommy and thats an influence you can never take away. Parents by the clothes so they are really advertising to you. And lets be honest, many of todays young parents dress their daughter alot worse.

First of all.. these kids are playing dress up. I have two girls ages 4 and 2 and they LOVE to get in my high heel shoes and stilettos, they love to put on my jewlry and walk around with a purse and one of thier baby dolls and my mom who is 47 said 20 years ago when i was there age i was doing the same thing. There is nothing wrong with this add. They are fully clothed and having fun with thier Mom’s shoes and jewlry you can see plainly that the shoes dont fit them meaning they are grown up shoes… The out fits are cute they are the same exact outfits that those anorexic looking twins make at walmart or for you high end moms that you can find at any store.. Out of all the Dereon clothes, I found one dress that was 1/2 way decent. It’s made out of the sweatsuit material (white, although I imagine there are other colors) has a hood, Dereon is written across the bottom in the back in gold. The only thing that throws the dress off is all the multicolor inside the hood but it’s a really cute dress. Now, I just need to find out where I’m going to wear it! Lol!!!

On the flip side, I just love the Baby Phat clothing line. Kimora wasn’t playin’ when she set this thing off!

Baby phat’s gear is tasteful and when my Mykel wears it, it shows a sense of fashion yet nothing grown up or hood about it. Just a simple pair of knee shorts, a white baby phat tee and some white and pink Nikes looks ADORABLE on her!!!
