Isiah Thomas Feels “Betrayed” by Magic Johnson Over Gay Rumors In Tell All Book!

Isiah Thomas is pissed off at Magic for saying Thomas questioned his sexuality:

Former Knicks coach, Isiah Thomas, is lashing out at Magic Johnson over accusations contained in a soon-to-be published book written by the former Laker and Larry Bird, including the claim that Thomas questioned Johnson’s sexuality…… after he was diagnosed with HIV. Thomas is now coaching at Florida International University in Miami after leaving New York amid controversy following a finding by a federal jury that he had sexually harassed a colleague in the organization. He told SI.com Thursday that he was hurt by the criticism from someone he thought was a friend.

“I really feel taken advantage of for all these years,” Thomas said. “I’m totally blindsided by this. Every time that I’ve seen Magic, he has been friendly with me.” In “When the Game was Ours,” to be published Nov. 4, Johnson claims that Thomas made calls to various NBA contacts after Johnson was diagnosed in 1991, and asked whether Johnson was gay.

“How can a so-called friend question your sexuality like that,” Johnson asks. “I know why he did it, because we used to kiss before games, and now if people were wondering about me, that meant they were wondering about him, too.” Johnson goes on to say that his distrust contributed to his failure to lobby for Thomas’ inclusion on the legendary 1992 Olympic “Dream Team.” Johnson lists the different reasons why he believes the other players on that team didn’t want Thomas on the roster. Co-written by both Johnson and Bird with sports columnist Jackie MacMullan, the book mostly focuses on the intense rivalry between Johnson’s Lakers and Bird’s Celtics in the ’80s.

“I wish he would have had the courage to say this stuff to me face to face, as opposed to writing it in some damn book to sell and he can make money off it,” Thomas said. Thomas cut ties with the Knicks in the spring and departed for Florida after a dismal five years serving as president and coach with the organization. In 2007, a federal jury found that Thomas had sexually harassed Anuncha Browne-Sanders and fined Madison Square Garden $11.6 million in punitive damages.

Of course ignorant Bossip commentors (AND the EVER stupid gay-baiting Bossip staff!!) take the “gay” angle and run with it.

Point is, there was a lot of ignorance surrounding HIV/AIDS during the ’80’s and early ’90’s. It was thought to be a “gay disease”. This is why Isaiah, I think, reacted the way he did. It was not known (or thought) then by many that heterosexuals could also contract the disease.

Everybody that work in that hospital at the time knew that Magic and Isaiah caught that bug from a man over in Europe. They both have homosexual tendencies. It has been speculated for years that Magic got AIDS from a man. Magic went to parties at the home of Jermaine Stewart who died of AIDS in the 90’s. If you’re not gay, why would you be at all-male gay parties. I found it strange that Isaiah “retired” after Magic was diagnosed. Makes you wonder about Isaiah’s status. Things that make you go hmmm.

And like Isaih said, as good as friends as they were; why would Isaih do something like that and why didn’t he go to Isaih.

seems to me when u value a relationship; u try to repair misunderstandings or faux pauxs as quickly as possible.

Magic is being petty and immature; players of the NBA rose up against him like they would have risen up against Larry or Michael………he was one of the barriers to other teams winning a championship during their professional tenure.

HIV provided just the excuse they needed because by the 1990’s most people understood how HIV & AIDS was contracted and spread.

Black folks get on my goddamn NERVES!!! Who the hell cares if they are gay or not is the first question. How does this affect your life?

Second, so what if they kissed?!?!? It wasn’t like they were tonguing each other down. It was a friendly peck on the cheek. This country as a whole is so freaking homophobic, always talking out of both sides of your mouths. One minute you talk about “keepin it real” then the next you call somebody “how you doin”, “suspect”.

Third, Isaih was questioning that man’s sexuality as well as avoiding the hell outta him when he was diagnosed. Anyone that remembers the “Dream Team” knows about that nonsense regarding Isaih not being there. That mess is almost 2 decades old.

Fourth and most important, when Magic was diagnosed that’s when black folks started getting tested. It’s sad that he had to get it in order for our community to step up and do the right thing.

Not like it mattered cause we are still the highest percentage that get HIV/AIDS and down low brothers make up the smallest percentage of women who contracted the disease.

Read a book and stop being stuck on stupid!!!!!!!!!!

Magic is one of the greatest players of all time and I was a huge fan growing. I despised the Pistons when they had the Bad Boys. Having said that…I have absolutely no respect for Magic as a man now. He continued to smile in Thomas’ face long after Zeke was not asked to join the Dream Team. Everyone blamed either/both Jordan and Bird. Who knew that his boy Magic was also involved? If that is not a back stabbing snake. Ha! Magic is only saying that because when he announced he had AIDS, that was being spread about him. Many of you all are probably too young to remember, but Magic did an interview on 20/20 where he spoke about being in boardrooms, and having 20 women. I can’t believe his wife stuck around after that.
