I don’t think Spike Lee is jealous he’s an artist first and foremost. Maybe not as big a money maker as Tyler Perry but it’s obvious he reveres the art of film making. Artist critique each other but always look to each other for inspiration.

I agree it’s time for Tyler Perry to “kick it up a Notch” I now live in the Southeast where people believe a Tyler Perry play is theater. He has a captive audience now and enough money to take a chance get un-stuck and show all kinds of characters with depth and diversity of thinking and purpose. Maybe he could even produce some other writers.

I have to admit though Madea has made me laugh but enough is enough TP, time to grow up.

BTW
someone mentioned how spike couldn’t send all those kids to Disneyland like TP did . It was a nice gesture but there’s enough black folk with money these days to build those kids a bigger and better pool. Just thought I’d put it out there.

Goodness, it’s comedy darling. No one is saying that these films are standard or blueprint for blacks. Think of all the slapstick comedies whites create. I think Spike is lighting a fire where none need be lit. I find Perry’s films always have an underlying message of redemption. Perhaps dear Spike should stay till the end of the film.
