This weekend millions of people will go see Jordan Peele‘s brand new film Us, which hit theaters everywhere March 22nd. The movie stars Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’o along with newcomers Shahadi Wright Joseph and Evan Ross. The movie is all about duality and its a theme that plays out throughout the film. I caught up with Winston, and the kids from the film to give you a glimpse at the making of Us.

Like Jordan’s first movie, Get Out, US will leave you with a million and 1 thoughts racing through your brain after you’re done watching it. So during my interview with Winston Duke who plays the father of the family, Gabe Wilson, I asked him when the questions start popping up into his brain, he answered “Immediately.” Winston reveals, “I read the script by myself for the first time, because Jordan, when he spoke to me on the phone, said I don’t want to tell you anything about the project I want you to decide if you want to be a part of it and have all of your thoughts unfiltered through me.”

He goes on to stay how after reading it for about 45 minutes he thoughts started running through his head but once he got on set, Jordan invited him into this world, showing him drawings and other artwork from what was going to happen throughout the movie. We also talked about the imagery and meaning behind some of the things you’ll see in the film and what’s important.

I also got to chat with Shahadi Wright Joseph and Evan Alex who play Jason and Zorah the kids in the film. Jason got to curse in the film and was scared his mother would whoop him. “I thought am be the same person when I get home or am I going to get whipped out!”

The movie hits theaters this Friday, March 22nd, 2019 and take it from me, this is a movie you’re going to need to see at least two times if not more.
