Al Sharpton is pictured here, giving Joe Jackson an award the other night. The man with a perm is saying more Joe Jacksons are what’s needed in the black community:

The Rev. Al Sharpton believes the world needs more fathers like Joe Jackson – a man the King of Pop said, routinely beat him and his siblings when they were children. The civil rights leader heaped praise on the dad’s parenting skills…… at the National Action Network in Harlem Saturday. “The arrogance of [people] attacking a man for being a stern father,” Sharpton said. “I wish we had more stern fathers – then we wouldn’t be shooting each other up.”

Jackson said he was honored to be recognized by Sharpton. “This feels great,” he said. “I feel like I’m someone very special.”

What do you guys think of what Al Sharpton said about Joe??? We find it hard to take anything a man with a perm is saying serious, but that is just us.

    Oh No.
    && Why??

It’s not April Fools, but what kind of a joke is this. A pre Halloween spook?

  • Rihanna’s sharp n pointy witchy fingernails took the oath

    Al’s a piece of shit!

  • Don’t think I Won’t Hitch Yah…Cause I’m Famous (I Believe in KARMA)

Not surprise at this foolishness. Look at the source! folks do anything to stay relevant

  • Trixxie

Somebody better tell me this is a joke

  • The Official Mrs. Carter

I wonder how is (grand)children feel about this award?

  • http://bossip shawn jones

Al has a point, considering the state of black families and the Jackson kids being raised in hollyweird,. They sure in the hell would not have been better off if they were raised by a single mother. 7 or 8 kids and a single mother can you imagine how that would have turned out?

  • jandsmama

Well we can see just how prestigious the award is by its Dollar Tree wooden frame….gee, wish I could have one…

  • rp

Joe was a good “business” father, he never took money from his kids like a lot of showbiz parents do, he made sure that the knew the business. Being a good parent on the personal and nurturing level is something I don’t think he was capable of.

  • noneya

So Ike should get an award for husband of the century? SMGDH

  • noneya

LMAO at the dollar tree frame! Good call.

  • mizspecialk

lol @ jandsmama…’dollar tree woden frame’ so true and too funny. i think the cheap tacky looking frame matches perfectly with joe’s african medallion necklace. lol

  • !!!!!R.I.P MIKE!!!!!

    HE MUST BE PROUD LOL.

  • http://bossip miss dior

    Utter ridiculousness.

  • Chris

When u think about it, I think fathers like him are what we need in the black community. Fathers who can whoop, squeez, choke, kick, flog and punch out all those bad seeds on today’s stubborn, gun-totting, no school-going, thug-wannabe kids…

  • Fat Lever

Its time for black folks to finally stop allowing Sharpton to speak for us.

  • Mrs. Rance

My mother routinely beat me and my siblings too when we were cutting up. It ain’t Joe’s fault that Mike doesn’t believe in corporal punishment.

And hell yeah we need more father’s like him. Crazy though he may be he raised his 9 children. He didn’t turn tail and run like MOST black men do. Yall need to recognize real when you see it.

  • resurrected

Well if none of his children attended this award ceremony then to me it is not considered to be true… It’s not the people on the outside that can decribe your parenting but for the people who live in the house with you who can really confirm this to be true…

  • B’more

Joe Jackson turned his family into American Icons. that sounds like good parenting to me.

  • drenk

i cant disagree, those asswhoopins gave us a thriller, thank you joe

  • I’m Just Me: Keeping it Real Since 1983

I cannot believe Al Sharpton co-signed this idiocy!!!

  • Al Must Have Lost It

I don’t agree with this award. There are a lot more unknown deserving fathers in this country that should have an award & I am quite sure MJ is spinning in his grave at the idea of Joe Jackson of all people would be getting an award for something he was NOT good at, being a father. Look how he screwed MJ up mentally. Sadly he died hating Joe Jackson & did you realize how most if not all Joe Jackson’s kids called him Joseph, how impersonal. Wow. That speaks for itself.

  • http://www.swirlsociety.com www.swirlsociety.com

“he didnt turn tail like most black men” he had 9 meal trickets under his control he was never going anywhere.

if this is true its a disgrace and just a grab by some other organisation to gain publicity off michaels death

  • Jay the Real One

Al sold his soul to Satan on that one, this is why he is a joke.

  • bococalady

did some of AL’S perm fry his brain? did he beat his daughter’s butts?

  • BlkArt

    GTFOH….next…..

  • Caramel Cat

His kids may have not grown up to be violent thugs, but they d@mn sure grew up to have all kinds of emotional and mental issues that have tortured them for most of their lives. I’m all for disciplining a child, but I don’t believe in beating children, there is a difference. I don’t agree with this award and if his kids aren’t co-signing then it’s nullified IMHO…

  • building a new empire

I find it “normal” that evil is being praised across America.

Although the jacksons kids are legally okay financially and mentally they are not in good standings…then again I don’t take Rev. Al Sharpton any serious than I take Bishop Magic Don Juan.

  • O

When is the last time Rhianna did an interview and spoke for herself, I mean she can make suicidal music before she can express herself about a real life abusive incident six months ago.

  • building a new empire

    @Caramel Cat

I agree…none if his kids are there to celebrate with him…damn.

  • Ms.Ajje

WTF??? Long live the “KING OF POP”

  • BLACK-A-RIFICK

AL SHARPTON IS GOING TO DIE OF SHORTAGE OF NECK

  • Maureen

Joe Jackson is a douchebag and Al Sharpton is an idiot. That’s all.

  • brianna

i don’t agree with joe’s parenting style but he’s not the worst parent EVER. he raised his kids how he thought was best. he kept them off the streets and groomed them to become superstars. his kids grew up to be respectful caring people. everyone has their problems but it’s magnified when you grow up in the spotlight and everyone handles situations differently.

  • Renee

I’m waiting for somebody to jump out and “Psych!!”

  • 80s baby

    @brianna

I hear you…but where are Joe’s kids when this celebration was happening.

We Can Say What We Want But…

Joe’s Kids Has Spoken For Themselves…and From The Looks of It…In Their Absense They Had Nothing To Say About This Bullshit…

How You A Good Father When Your Wife Distance You From Your Grand-Kids???

What Part Of The Game Is This?

  • 80s baby

joe jackson looks like a stumpy muhammed ali

  • huh

NONE of his 8 CHILDREN or 23 GRANDCHILDREN were presnt!

  • chloe

horrible–just showing the black community that if you got money you can get praised for anything

  • Superwoman

Al Sharpton is a true to life fool!!

  • SparxX a lot

Good business father? THEY FIRED HIS ASS! That’s how much of a good business father he was. The Boys fired him first then he tried to ruin Janet and she dumped him too. None of his kids let him handle their money.

  • http://bossip MRtibbs

    GOOD FOR PAPA JOE.

HOW MANY OF YOU WERE ACTUALLY RAISED WITH YOUR FATHERS?!

    ENOUGH SAID.

ALL BLACKS NEED A PAPA JOE IN THEIR LIFE.

9 KIDS, NO VIOLENCE OR DRUGS UNDER HIS LEADERSHIP, NOT THAT’S A SUCCESSFUL BLACK FAMILY.

  • http://bossip MRtibbs

    @SPARX ALOT

Papa Joe was a GREAT father and businessman, the best he knew how, no one was there for him but HE WAS DEFINATELY there for his kids!

And how STUPID of Michael, got rid of his dad and fell into the HANDS OF WOLVES with AIG and Randy Phillips, who also made Toni Braxton file bankruptcy a few years back.

And WORST OF ALL, lawyers are saying if Michael’s mom Katherine dies, then her share of Michael’s fortune goes to those 3 WHITE toddlers that CLEARLY ARE NOT EVEN HIS.

So in the end, Michael Jackson took food from a BLACK family (Papa Joe and Katherine’s dues that they paid for their kids) and handed over his fortune to GREEDY, SELF SERVING WHITE LAWYERS, CHARITIES AND RANDOM KIDS (ALL WHITE).

Wow! Some of these Black celebs get stupitier by the minute!

  • 80s baby

    @MrTibbs

I hear your defense for Joe…however, father and businessman is something Joe Jackson doesn’t represent and I won’t condone that you remain in denial.

Joe Jackson is a man who have had many stories surrounding not only the boys but the girls as well…

While some know and many speculate on the boys it was also reported earlier in the years that Rebbie was sexually abused by her father.

As far as Micahel turning over his fortune…you’re wrong there too…Katherine gets 85K a month to take care of her grand-kids and Michael was supporting her and a few others until his death.

My question to you is that if he’s a great father he would produce great kids…if these kids don’t think anything remotely close to him being even called “father” (they call him joe) then you can’t go against the source…they was the ones in that house…and none of them find it necessary to even tweet about their dad’s award!!!

  • TOO REAL FO YA…

AL SHARPTON’S A KI$$ A$$…JOE JACKO IS CONTROLLING ABUSIVE BUTT-HOLE…KATHRYN HAD NO CHANCE AGAINST THIS EVIL RAT BASTARD, SO SHE GETS A PASS…MICHAEL WAS WEIRD AS HELL, SERVED HIS PURPOSE, LEFT HIS LEGACY AND CHECKED OUT BEFORE HE “TURNED” ON PRINCE AND BLANKET…YEAH I SAID IT!

  • http://bossip MRtibbs

    @ 80S BABY

MUCH RESPECT, BUT MY POINT FLEW RIGHT OVER YOUR HEAD!

  • http://www.iamglamourous.blogspot.com Diva Style

Um, OH HELL NAW!! I normally like Al, but he needs to sit his A$$ DOWN on this one! Joe Jackson is the LAST person who needs to be receiving an award for good parenting or anything else for that matter. F*ck Outta Here!!!

[...] Joseph Jackson, the father of the famous musical Jackson family children including Michael was recently given an award for good parenting from Rev. Al Sharpton. Read more here. [...]

The problem is not the fact that Joe Jackson was stern with his children especially Michael. I’m a big fan of discipline, and not allowing your children to do whatever, just because you are their best friend or buddy.

The problem is the fact that he was almost like a dictator to his own children, the children calling him Joe, that says a lot. Joe Jackson looks like someone who doesn’t play, his face is so hard, scary, he’s like a hustler. Imagine, he was way harder on Micheal than any of them, because of M.J talent. Michael starting at an early age, it can be very terrifying, and horrifying, been that young, and having to go through that. Making fun of him, teasing him about his nose, these things affect people, and M.J happen to be one of those people.

It can affect a child pschologically, and the fact that it looks like, Joe never even empathize with what his son was going through. All M.J wanted from Joe is his approval, even throughout his adulthood, that’s what M.J said himself. if you never felt that approval, it can be very devastating.

Honestly, Joe jackson’s actions after M.J death, said it all, you can see the detachment, you almost forget, that’s his son.

    TOO REAL FO YA…

AL SHARPTON’S A KI$$ A$$…JOE JACKO IS CONTROLLING ABUSIVE BUTT-HOLE…KATHRYN HAD NO CHANCE AGAINST THIS EVIL RAT *****, SO SHE GETS A P*****…MICHAEL WAS WEIRD AS HELL, SERVED HIS PURPOSE, LEFT HIS LEGACY AND CHECKED OUT BEFORE HE “TURNED” ON PRINCE AND BLANKET…YEAH I SAID IT!

Get out of her with that baseless bull crap statement, take your dumb behind back to school and check out before you start molesting your own kids

  • Dee

    LMAO this dude is ridiculous!

  • paylor

    to mtibbs
fyi, i am the same age as michael…he was 7 months older than me. i grew up with both parents as most people in my generation did. joe gets mo special praise from me for sticking around and doing what he suppose to do..support his family

  • kristina

Joe was a good “business” father, he never took money from his kids like a lot of showbiz parents do, he made sure that the knew the business. Being a good parent on the personal and nurturing level is something I don’t think he was capable of.

    ———————–

I agree. I give him props for not leaving his family and seeing potential in his family, he groomed them to be stars.

  • kristina

Joe did some horrible things he did some great things and michael still loved and forgave his father. Michael even credited his father for cultivating he and his brother’s talents. Joe may have been hard but he wanted his kids to have a better life. It would have been nice for his kdis to have more of a father than a manager but what’s done is done.

It is interesting that none of his kids are there to supports him tho.
