Another case of inappropriate attire for the youngins. 17 year old Marche Taylor unsuccessfully tried to hit up her prom in full hoochie-mode this weekend:
“Instead of a night of dancing and hanging out with friends, the Madison High School senior ended in a confrontation with school officials and her being escorted out in handcuffs. All because school officials said her dress was inappropriate for the school prom.”
They arrested the wrong person. Her folks should’ve been locked up for letting her walk out looking like a damned two-dollar hussy. Trifling.

I saw this on CNN and it’s so “not newsworthy”. This girl’s parents should be sentenced to 2 years of community service for allowing their own daughter to go out in public looking like trash. If she dresses like this and still lives at home (I’m *****uming), goodness only knows how she’ll dress when she’s on her own. This is so tacky and a seriously terrible reflection on self-esteem. This was for her prom not the “ho stroll”; talk about being young, black and dumb.

A Mother is the first female role model and a Father enforces all of that for the Daughter. 1. I have an MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Hawaii at Manoa 2007
2. I work for BP petroleum here in Hawaii
3. Its only 8am here and work stats at 9am so I can talk sh*t for another 30 minutes.
4. Both my father and mother are from the deep south, but they were smart enough to leave that *****f**ka as soon as they hit 18, they were educated in California then moved to Hawaii and had my sister and i.
5. My mom is 5′6 and weighs about 138-140lbs

Clubs here in Honolulu close at 5:30-6:00am, my friends and i usually dont go out until 1am, it takes me until 2:30 to get a cool buzz going, 15 minutes to meet a fine b*tch, another 15 to fully mack her *****, another 30 to convince her to leave with me (they love my name), its now 3:30am and we f*ck for 1 1/2 hours, I let her sleep until 5:45am then wake her up and tell her I have to work early, she doesnt like it but what can she do? Heres 75 cent for the bus, a 2 for 1 egg mcmuffin coupon and a kiss on the forehead……….and dont wake my neighbors cussin’ me out on your way to the elevator!

My cousins took me to a deep south strip club, i swear i saw pregnant b*tches dancing, b*tches with bullet and stab wounds, the worse blonde weaves ive ever seen, and i think i saw one b*tch nursing and dancing at the same time…………..and some n*ggas threw pennies at the stage.
Crisco was on the stove at every hose we visited and at one house the woman didnt have any oil so she fried a chicken in vaseline……..I only pretended to eat it.

Shanique and Marche have nothing to do with African cultures…they have to do with a PART of African-AMERICAN culture. Most of these “ghetto” names have Muslim/Arabic and French derivatives…a nod to the cultures that have influenced and become a part of the mixture that IS African AMERICAN.
There are plenty of European names that mean nothing but “wood” or “horse” or something completely random.
And btw as an EAST AFRICAN, I find it slightly annoying when African Americans name their children some random African name, and then don’t even know the meaning of it, OR WORSE–MAKE UP THE MEANING of it, and then think it’s fine or better than “Bonquita” because it’s “African”. First of all, Africa is a big ***** continent with thousands of cultures, many of which are very different from each other. Whether the ghetto is in the North or in the South, there are young girls looking this way EVERYWHERE! Rather than putting the blame on the where, we need to look at the who, namely the parent or parents that let her walk out of the house like that.
Also, how could she be comfortable even putting on an outfit like that and walking somewhere. That outfit isn’t even comfortable sleeping or swimming in. The adults in her life probably think that if it was okay for them it is okay for her to dress beyond provocative for her age.
Our young chocolate sisters are being discarded before they hit the world, and it’s a shame that this got that far. It sounds cliche, but if I was her age going out the door to the mailbox, let alone the prom, dressed like this, I would have been slapped into a coma, waking up 10 years later with atrophied limbs getting nutrients through a feeding tube.
I’m not saying slap her, but be brave enough to look her in the eyes, grab her by the shoulders, and take her to the nearest Macy’s, J C Penney’s, T J Maxx, or any other store that sells prom dresses at this time of year. If you are going to let the girl go to the prom, and wish to have a dress made, buy a pattern or design a dress that requires more than 1 1/2 yards of material to make it.
There are local organizations that GIVE prom dresses to these girls – brand new and appropriate. The girl in this article has more problems than taste in dresses, I’m sure, and she needs some solutions. Her parents need to be scissor-kicked in the back of the head.

Goodness gracious! That dress was too revealing for a high school prom. It left nothing to the imagination. I feel that a young lady at her high school prom should look like “easy, breezy, beautiful Cover Girl.” Not like, like- “Superman that hoe.” I’m just at a loss for words…. I will just do my best to positively influence the teens and younger people in my life.

@Marquis: I live in Suffolk, and was on my way home when it hit down the street from home. Never thought I would see that kind of storm here, but it happened and I am lucky to have suffered no loss.

You are not lying. Our community needs help and it starts within. I’m sure that school put out a bulletin about what was and was not appropriate attire for the prom. Calling the police was unnecessary, but so was saying ‘***** the rules’ trying to get away with a scarf and a micromini with no underwear. The only time I can buy this argument is if the white and latina girls were wearing the same mess and were allowed to stay and only the black chicks were told go home. But that’s not what happened is it?
I agree with everyone who says that this is just a reflection of the images bombarded on our young people every day. That’s when parents step in. You can look cl*****y and sexy for your prom without looking like trash.
You know what worries me? that her parents will probably side with her that that was appropriate wear for the prom. Or that her mama dresses the same way and sees nothing wrong with it. We need help, and it’s going to have to come from within the community.
@Lydia: One tacky girl or a few tacky girls do not necessarily reflect on the city. Trust me, I have been places where this stuff is seen (Florida, Illinois, all of the states in the northeast, California, etc.) but there are enough good examples to outweigh the bad.

you all are throwing alot of judgements out there while also not considering the fact that she’s probably in an enviroment that doesn’t offer alot of guidance for young people because previous generation didn’t get guidance and so and so on. And also I know hoes who wear business suit so a woman’s sexual prowess isn’t based on what she wears but who and however many people she *****s. Also she is doing is copying what society deems as sexy and going with it. If she’s a hoe then mariah a ho, JLo, beyonce and rihanna. Until we as a society demand that woman don’t have to show their bodies to be considered sexy then we don’t need to be judging our babies. As for being arrested, I don’t know if that was a necessary course of action but I do strongly believe she did create a fuss when wasn’t allowed to go to the prom. Plus I did think the dress was a bit revealing and she could had some sheer to cover the places that was out to make it a bit cl*****er. She is trying to discover her womanhood and its not her fault if she is a bit misguided can you blame her look at the world she lives in.
the dress could have been a little too revealing but why is it when it comes to our black youths ,,, the resolution is always to call the police. It was NOT necessary for them to call the police on her prom night , and she had a right to her money back , no matter how tacky her dress was if she could not enter the party.

One thing I did learn from watching the coverage from the prin*****ls standpoint was that they were given a paper that stated the dresscode for prom and each student had to sign saying they would obey the rules. It also stated that if the dress code was not followed students would not be allowed inside. In that case I feel no type of remorse for this young lady.
My school was the same with the dresscode. When we payed senior dues we also signed a contract stating the dress code. On prom night everyone looked beautiful in their own way. Everyone did not wear the puffy princess dresses either. Some had beautiful form fitting satin dresses. In all wearing less does not make you look better at a prom. Be a lady not a street walker which is how she looked sad to say. Also at the age of 17 why are young girls obsessed with “sex appeal” anyways, but get mad at rude comments guys make towards them or mad when guys only want them for sex?
The police where not called because of her dress, they were called because she caused a scene and would not leave!
They gave her the option of going home or going to jail, she opted to go to jail.
When you go to school functions like prom, there are contracts you have to sign saying you will abide by the rules. Her ticket money was already used to pay for the hotel and dinner. She’s the one who decided to break the rules, why should the school give her a refund ?
