Crete Academy Charter School Reveals Nipsey Hussle Basketball Court Mural

The marathon continues and his legacy lives on.

Just two weeks after he was murdered at his Marathon clothing store, Nipsey Hussle’s being remembered at a local school. Administrators at Crete Academy Charter school revealed a HUGE mural painted across their basketball court of the late rapper.

Crete Academy is located in Crenshaw and just blocks away from where Nipsey was gunned down.

“For our kids to look at Nipsey and see to see everything he’s done, what he was able to accomplish and how much he gave back to the community is huge for them…because he looks like them,” said Crete Academy Founder Hattie Mitchell to CBS LA. “He grew up where they grew up. He’s the epitome of everything that they want to be and aspire to be.”

The mural was done by artist Gustavo Zermeno and the idea of Venice Basketball League CEO Nick Ansom. Ansom and the rapper were in talks about developing a community project before his passing.

Nipsey’s family the Asghedons were in attendance for the unveiling.
