There are loads of beautiful Black women of the darker skin tone! Angela B*****ett worked the mess out of those Braids and was STILL the hotness! Lauren Hill has NEVER looked as beautiful as she did when she was rocking the dreads!

Stand tall and proud sista!! You don’t need to be considered beautiful by a man in order to be secure with your own beauty. I agree that all shades of Black women should be glorified. I am sorry that you feel that your time to shine has not arrived, but I beg to differ….Black women are doing their thing these days and the men have taken notice (yes even the White ones LOL).

You mentioned Maya Angelou, so I will leave you with some words from one of her most inspirational poems:

I’m not hating I’m just asking when will my time come to shine? When will a true dark skinned beauty be recognized & praised for something other than her mind {Condoleeza Rice} talent {Williams Sisters} and Spirit {Maya Angelou}

It may seem shallow but as women it’s natural that we want to be thought of as beautiful & desired by men.

Has there ever been a dark skinned kinky haired, afrocentric featured black woman praised for her looks? It’s 2008 and black publications are still telling us the representaion of my beauty is a mulatto woman?

All I’m saying most times you get a meal you want your meat, your starch & a veggie

why wouldn’t you want to glorify all the shades of blackness in your woman? That’s why it’s nice dating out the race cuz to a white boy all he see’s is my beauty not that my hair is nappy or that my skin is dark.
