We can remember when it was cool to be decked out in Ecko, but as of late, the company can’t sell a piece of apparel to save its life.

The New York Post reports that the clothing line owner has lost control of the line. He was forced to sell off a controlling stake in Ecko, in order to pay off creditors; meaning the brand will survive but it will no longer belong to Marc Ecko.

After trying to sell off his extensive NYC office which had an indoor basketball court, Marc’s expenses proved to be more than his income. He went from being one of the most credible Hip Hop clothing lines to just a mere brand that you can find at your local “why pay more when you can pay less” chain stores across America.

The recession has hit a lot of profitable businesses tightly weaved into the African-American community and the Hip Hop lifestyle why is this?

For discussion.

That’s too bad. Just goes to show you that no matter the income bracket, you still have to be mindful of your spending.

It’s simple. You need to stay relevant, keep costs low, and keep an eye on revenue & profit. This man was living the life but not taking care of business.
