T.I. and Tiny Welcome Major Harris

T.I. and Tiny have a new addition to the family:
T.I. and his girlfriend Tameka “Tiny” Cottle welcomed their second son together after midnight Friday morning. The infant’s name is Major Harris, and he weighed in at 5 lbs., 15 oz. He is the fifth child for T.I., 27, and his second with Cottle. The couple are already parents to son King Harris, 3.
Aww, congrats to them. So Major it is. We were wondering what name they were going to pull out of the hat for this one.

It’s only her second child and if it wasn’t why would she be trash cause she likes children. I read on another site that the child is actually 7 pounds not 5.

Truth be told, the only one that had a decent voice to me was Tasha (I think that was her name…the thick one). I never heard the other girl sing (the one who’s a minister now). When I think of Tiny, I keep hearing the song ‘Understanding’. Tiny made my ears flow with blood…ugh.

Olympian Montgomery gets 46 months for check fraud

PLAINS, N.Y. (AP)—Olympic gold medalist Tim Montgomery was sentenced to 46 months in prison Friday for his part in a multimillion-dollar fake-check scheme.
The former track star, 33, hung his head as Judge Kenneth Karas imposed the sentence.
Montgomery pleaded guilty last year to conspiracy in the bank fraud and money laundering plot. Prosecutors said he had a hand in depositing bogus checks worth $1.7 million.
Montgomery retired in 2005 after he was banned from track and field for doping. He has a child with Marion Jones, the track superstar who is now in prison for lying about the check scam and about her use of performance-enhancing drugs.
“I’ve had everything I ever wanted in life. I’ve stood on the top of the mountain,” Montgomery told the court. But now, “the gold medal, all those people cheering, that was part of another world. … In jail, my status is gone.”
The judge told him, “Being a track star does not somehow disable someone from saying no.”
“I know this is a tough day for you. Think about those kids,” the judge said in an apparent reference to Montgomery’s four children. “… That’s what’s going to help you say no next time.”
After the sentencing, Montgomery nodded and smiled at his parents, siblings and a girlfriend.
Montgomery still faces drug-dealing charges in Virginia. In deciding on the prison term, the judge did not hold the new charges against Montgomery.

that is the thing though! Polygamy is more common in the muslim countries. i am christian. However, in our traditional ways, (your ancestors), a man had the right to have multiples wives. This was done JUST because they actually are more woman than men and in that case, no woman would be left alone. That is the theory number 1

As an illegitimate child myself, or I like to say that I had foolish parents, it isn’t so much a question of moral judgment or wrongness, but it is a matter that it is not the best way to raise children. Most people act like it’s OK, but I’ve never heard a child say that he was happy that his parents never got married.
Even though a child may not discuss it with you personally, it does bother them. When mothers have boyfriends who spend the night with them and the child has to go to bed early, teachers hear about it. Grandparents, too. Fatherlessness in our community is a real issue.

But in my culture, parents take care of their kids and then kids have take care of their parents. Since i am in America, i send money on the regular to my family over there. Not that they need money but because it is our culture! my cousin has somethin like 7 brothers and sisters and they are not rich so when you go abroad and make money, you actually are always asked for every thing! You cannot say no because it is family! But power is right! The more kid the man has, the more power he is supposed to be! Woman were used to get money for the family! But again, this is done only in the country side now. Only i f a man wants to marry me, he has to do a traditionnal wedding and he has to give some stuff to my family, sheeps, luxurious tissues for the woman etc… Now it is just symbolic but before, it was to prove that you can take care of someone’s daughter! But today ,WOman are more and more educated and don’t want to be treated as a merchandise!

I hear the assertion being made repeatedly that somehow marriage is “overrated.” If it’s so overrated, then why are there multiple studies showing the benefits that children receive when they are raised in two-parent households (which include obvious reasons, such as greater economic stability and ability to share care responsibilities and, hopefully, lessen the burden of child care/education costs)? I guess we’ll see in the next 10 to 20 years, as today’s children grow into adults, just how meaningless a wedding ring is, or if many of them have any concept of how to create healthy relationships. From the lack of guidance I see now in many households, we have a crisis on our hands that will surely worsen in the years to come.

I know more successful individuals, that have emerged from a one parent household, than a two parent household.

For it is the quality of the parent, not the quantity of parents, that will play the biggest role in the development of the child.. Most of us, over the age of 35 had in our day, a two parent upbringing. And a lot of these same people, are the most screwed up amongst us. How pre-tell, do you explain this phenomenon? When they were raised in a two parent environment. By your philosophies, everyone raised in a two parent home, would be well rounded, and successful. And this, if you watch the news, is clearly not the case.
Your logic does not support itself. Therefore your logic, and your basic philosophy on this matter is extensively flawed. The true case is. Along with your ideal two parent households, comes child abuse, comes incest, comes alcohol abuse, comes frustrations by one parent, taken out on the child. And the total disregard by one of the parents, against the child. Marriage is not necessarily, ideal not by a long shot. Now it is time for you to do the research that you previously mentioned.. Dysfunction happens in two parent households, more than it happens in single parent households. If you want to talk statistics, than go to the Census Burrow, because that is where I live. Nothing will ever convince me that 70% of black babies in America being born to single parent homes is a form of progression from, as you say, antiquated tradition.
This near complete breakdown of the families of black children is an epidemic crisis to the detrement of our present and future generations.
Sure there are exceptions and success stories but adversity being a motivator still does not justify the high rate of paternal abandonement and children with absolutely no concept of relationship, marriage, family, or home.
Sure “things happen” (Although I feel all babies are blessings not “happenings”) but because of the family breakdown from even 40 years ago there has also been a breakdown in community.
Whereas single black mothers used to have a strong sense of community and were supportive of eachother with free childcare, meal sharing, etc., now people are competitive and value a prada bag over children and community.
Without two parents, without community, black children are suffering. If we keep viewing black men/fathers as despensible, they will continue to act despensible.
So fathers of black children, if no one has told you, I’m telling you, you are needed and make a difference in the lives of the children you create. You are more than a court order and child support check. You are worthy and powerful and a spiritual necessity and foundation for your children. Your committment to your woman/wife and children can literally change the future and this world.

Black people need to learn to see the value in being married (and staying happily married) before they have children. We know for a fact that this “baby mama, baby daddy” thing has not worked out as 70% of children fathered by Black men live in single parent (usally headed by the mother) households and 65% of those in these households live near or beneath the poverty line. This has lead to increased rates of incarceration for AA males and increasingly AA females, has increased the likelyhood of teenage pregnancy (which increases infant mortality), increased drug abuse within the AA community (due to the inablility of single parents to cope with the responsibilites associated with rearing a family with a lack of resources, which has also affected the well being and financial stability of grandparents who often pick up the slack for unprepared parents), and has fostered an attitude within the Black community to have no expectations for Black men as providers and leaders, which affects the whole community as no one respects African-Americans because the “naturally appointed” heads of the community take no responsiblity for it and show no value for it, as they typically just use it until they can get into a position to exploit someone or something else (which, due to the globally low standing of AA males, never lasts for very long, but does further damage the perception of the group as a whole). Also this “trend” has lead many AA females to subconsciously believe that they are worthless, unattractive, and undeserving of a male partner (husband) who will work and support the family unit. As a result these women have lowered expectations which results in a lower quality of life. I encourage all Black women to redefine what it means to be a Black woman, and to elevate their standards for mate selection. Marry and reproduce with men who are moral, supportive, heterosexual, intelligent, and hard working. Stay away from players, convicts, down low niccas, baby daddies (cause if his not married to her and supporting theirs, he won’t be there for you and yours either)and unemployed men with no place of their own to live. We can improve our circumstances as a group of women, but we must stand strong (together). We must support each other and demand the VERY BEST FOR OURSELVES BECAUSE NO ONE DESERVES THE BEST MORE THAN BLACK WOMEN! WE HAVE TAKEN TOO MUCH SHIT FOR FAR TOO LONG!
And to those who say “Well, OOW births are not a big deal when white folks do it”, I say white people control society, and the white community is not faced with same, harsh realities as the black community. And if you must know the real reason for the increased number of oow births in the white community, here it is: White men noticed how content some white women are to go to work and take care of sorry black men who do nothing for them. White men noticed that these women would lay up and have black baby, after black baby for men who had never bought a shirt for them, let alone a house, car, education, jewels, etc… As a group they decided if black men didn’t have to take care of white women, then they shouldn’t either (trust me, I have dated a whole lot of white men, and I’ve been engaged to two, and most cite this as the reason they decided to leave white women alone. In their view, many white women have become unmotivated, lazy, and whorish through their involvement with black men, and many believe that they should not work hard to be with women who clearly do not require it from other men. As most white men enjoy being successful and maintaining control over their societies, many are seeking women with high expectations (even more reasons for sisters to reject sorry brothers)thus you see higher rates of marriage between WM and Asian females, and African and Carribean born females, as these two groups have high expectations for themseleves. As many African-American females change their value system and increase their expectations, the marriage rate between AA females and WM will increase, as the whole world knows that African American women are go-getters and are able to lead, survive, and thrive under all conditions. But their accepting and desire for dreadful niggraz must be extinguished first. We can do it, but it must be a group effort.

He may come from your womb, but only a father can truly understand the joy of his first born son. . The money, the fame, I have had those all, all, and all, and all. The bond between a father and son, as you have with your son and my husband has with our son, is one that for me as a mother is awe-inspiring, deeply appreciated, nurtured, and supported.
I know other mothers who are intimidated by this bond. I’ve heard about mothers who seek to sabotage this bond. I’ve had mother friends criticize me as naive for believing in and supporting this bond.
Some mothers are not secure enough to “step aside” and permit a father to father.
I’ve been criticized for creating “man days” which are usually outdoor activities or day trips I relish planning for my husband and son. I live and die for my family. Family first is an understatement. As a mom, I will never know the bond between father and son, yet it is a bond I am devoted to.
It brings such a joy to my heart your words and story here representing a father’s love and the bond between father and son.
It pains me that society has reduced the role of black fathers to that of an ATM machine. I sometimes wonder if mother’s forget that father’s have hearts that also love and break deeply. I hear mothers dismiss the father-child bond even going as far to say that it is uneccesary which devastes me.
How did we as a society, community come to this? Although I am married, I always say to my married and single mom friends that we chose our children’s father and he is not dispensible just because of a change of heart.
We overlook that some father’s are forced from their children’s lives and given the economic disparity and discrimination against black men in America, some black fathers just do not have the resources to stand up.
I am one of the many mothers who over the years has actually supported the fathers’ rights movement. Reducing fathers of any color to just a check is one the most critical failures of our society. Black fathers face greater paternal discrimination and black fathers must be heard and valued.
It is beyond devastating that 70% of black children in America will never know the bond your son and my son share with their fathers. What can we as a people, community, society do more to heal this wound?
It hurts me that people use our struggles as a people to make fun of and belittle black families in America. Even people who look like us all over the world consider our families less moral and less worthy because of the breakdown of black families and communities. This is no laughing matter.
I just want to do what I can as a woman and as a mother to help, first by being devoted to my own family and by volunteering.
