Marcus Jordan, the pompous rich kid from the suburbs of the Chi who has never known what it’s like to be an everyday person trying to make it, just lost the Adidas deal to UCF because he refused to wear the Adidas shoes in the opener:

The University of Central Florida has lost its $3 million exclusive contract with Adidas after basketball player Marcus Jordan insisted on wearing his father, Michael’s, Nike Air Jordans for the school’s opening basketball game.
While the rest of the team wore their adidas shoes with black trademark stripes, Marcus Jordan laced up his pair of white Air Jordans Wednesday night, although he did add a pair of black ankle braces with the adidas logo prominently displayed.
Marcus, 18-year-old son of the NBA legend, says UCF had promised when recruiting him to the school that he could wear the famous Jordan brand.
As a result, the Sentinel says, adidas spokeswoman Andrea Corso told the newspaper in an e-mail that the UCF “has chosen not to deliver on their contractual commitment to Adidas. As a result, we have chosen not to continue our relationship with them moving forward.”
UCF Athletics Director Keith Tribble tells the paper, however, that he thought negotiations with the shoe company were still going on. The paper reports that high-level Adidas officials had overturned an agreement that UCF had reached with Adidas regional representatives to allow Jordan to keep his Nike shoes, despite the exclusive contract. On a possibly related matter, UCF won the game, beating St. Leo, 84-65.

Bossip is hearing that Thee Jordan will up the money and sponsorship.

Marcus’ family and father better supply the team with full sponsorships, we know that much! - Hypothetical UCF Teammate.

    Que

    Yeah, your first. lol.

The nerve of this kid though. I bet that whole family is arrogant, just like thier Dad.

    Thanks Que!!! Happy Friday!!

  • trs

I would have sat his butt on the bench for acting out like that. Why didn’t the coach step up and enforce the standard??

You aren’t in the NBA yet Marcus!!!!!! Even dudes in the NBA have to adhere to a dress code. This dude is too big for his britches, and this will be a hard lesson learned.

  • get’ em

im sure his dad paid the school the 3Mill they lost that why they agreed to it….I dont know this dude and I dont like him already he prolly wont do much in the NBA if hemakes it he doesnt look like a baller…smh

  • as seen on t.v.

    Like father like son…

  • http://perryone779@yahoo,com rose by any other name #9304026339482056536 ™

white skank chaser just like his dad!!

  • IT’S ALL FAKE

I HEARD THEY TOLD HIM HE COULD ALWAYS WEAR NIKE WHEN HE SIGNED TO GO THERE. THEY MIOGHT HAVE RENIGGED ON THEIR END.

LET’S BE REAL HE AIN’T GOOD YOU NEVA EVEN HEARD OF HIM UNTIL THEN. BENCH HIM AND LET EVERYONE ELSE WEAR THE SHOES.

  • Redbone_Darkbutt_Black_White (It’s just coochie)

I don’t care if his father wrote a $30M check to UCF — the athletic director should have had the balls to tell him “conform to team rules, or get the f–k to STEPPIN.”

Arrogant little sh-t is NOT bigger than the team. the world does NOT revolve around HIM, or his damn has-been daddy.

  • Red

There is no “I” in Team. Wear what the team wears, if you believe in the team concept. Adidas should have left the contract and let this kid wear Nike, then make a commercial when the kid in Nike can’t score. The kid is only there because of who his father is, he isn’t even interested in basketball like that. Adidas should just soak up the publicity.

  • dlastqueen

Okay….Adidas thought they were going to pull an “okeydoke”. The only reason why they pulled their sponsorship is because AIR JORDAN’s heir won’t wear their shoes. They thought they would be able to use him to promote their shoes WITHOUT PAYING HIM!!

  • keke

his daddy can write them a check…its only b/c he’s mj son that we even know what happend

  • copelli21

He is just as selfish and self-absorbed as his father. The acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree.

  • megafly

with his white snow bunny. Like father like son.

  • datdude92

MJ quote ” there’s no I in TEAM, but their is in CHAMPION!” If you think the school didn’t look at the attention they would get by having the kid on their squad your dumb. agreeing to his terms was all a part of the PR deal the University was hoping having him would bring. 3mill? how much do you think this school will get if Marcus turns out to have his father’s game? How much will they get from having their games broadcast on ESPN? Look beyond what’s written and understand what’s being said.

  • blak

please, this dude on scored 1 pt in in 23minutes of playing time. he aint worth the trouble

  • ALEGNA

OMG THATS SOME BULLSH**. THIS BOY CANT EVEN HOOP ITS A NAME GAME FOR HIM. DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH GOOD COULD THAT MONEY COULD HAVE DONE AND HOW MANY PEOPLE THAT MONEY COULD HELP. IN THE WORDS OF BERNIE MACK “YOU SELFISH SON OF A BIT**.

  • da4seentruth

hes catchin up with OJ… in the white tail chasing category.

  • tennis

you know I know nothing about this kid other than the picture and the headline and from that, I don’t thing I like him.

  • http://bossip.com This some Shhh…

    @ BLAK

Thanks. I just wanted to know what he did in the game. Dude’s garbage.

  • http://bossip.com This some Shhh…

So people who support his antics agree that the University athletics should suffer because of one kid? Remember Adidas sponsered all athletics on campus, not just B-Ball.

  • SofaKingCool

Len Bias is the only reason why jordan is actually jordan. If it wasn’t for his patna and teammate getting him coked up we would all be wearing Air Bias LOL and so would marcus jordan

  • Chocolatedroppe

Thank you Carly…I agree, its only right that he should wear his daddy’s Nike shoes. Michael Jordan make billions off these $200.00 sneakers.Besides, I think any proud father rich or not, would want his son to wear the shoes that’s he’s made so famous. It’s UCF, that didn’t keep their end of the contractual obligation.

  • Play Nice

    Is Marcus, Michael?

    No, now sit down JUNIOR!
    (on the bench)

  • Que

    What up Sunny!

Happy Friday to you as well!

I wonder what Pops has to say about all this? SMH..
I know the school hates this kid right now.

  • oooooooh!

Hey if he didn’t want to wear the adidas he shouldn’t have to, no one can force him to wear shoes for their financial gain if he does not want to. He had every right to wear what the hell he wanted.

  • WordtotheWise

Some of you have a lot to learn about the world and business. It’s not about whether he wanted to wear the Adidas or not. It’s about when you belong to a team, it’s not about YOU. If you can’t role, get out the way. That’s like saying that if my employer has a certain dress code, I should have the right to wear what I want. Well, yes, in essence I do, but my employer has the right to enforce their rules and get rid of my ass. Wake up. It’s not always about YOUR rights.

  • WordtotheWise

    if you can’t ROLL…

  • Brwn Beauty

Yall not getting the point….He was told when he was being recruited by UCF that he could wear his fathers brand of shoe…So if they promised him that then they need to hold up their end of the deal and allow him to wear the shoes…it is not his fault they lost the deal and I don’t think his father is obligated to front them the money…It would be a nice thing to do if he did put up the money but he is definitely NOT OBLIGATED to do so….

  • ninaprb

WHATEVER DUDE SHOULD BE ABLE TO WEAR HIS DAD’S SHOES…Adidas has a contract with UCF not jordan…its the principle people are recruited for sports for a reason, because the school wants them…so they told him he could wear his pop’s shoes…thats they fault

  • enkogkneegro ( Uncle E…if you like )

Young black man chooses to honor his father, the company that has benefited him and his family and was honest and upfront about it from day one and when it was obvious that after the fact they were going back on their word he stood firm yet folks think he’s wrong……

  • nd

It’s funny how some people are commenting that it’s okay for him to wear a different shoe brand than the team…hello it’s a TEAM! Supposedly he was promised that he would be alllowed to wear the Nike brand, but has that been verified. This is what happens when you overlook the good of the group.

  • Been there….

From a marketing perspective, this is a GOLD MINE for both Nike and Adidas, depending on who spins it and “picks up the pieces”…..I truly wonder if lil’ Jordan knows that he’s just a pawn being used by the school to try and get bank off his family line…wake up kid!

I’m all for our young brothas stepping up and living outside of the rapper/thug on the street mentality, but GEEEEEEEZ, lil’ Jordan! No one knows you! You’re not really that important, beyond the fact that MJ helped bring you into the world… (and, of course, we’re not even gonna go there as far as the whole Becky-chasing goes….topic for another day.)

Question: is he a starter for UCF? What’s his PPG?

  • enkogkneegro ( Uncle E…if you like )

    @Word To The Wise

I feel you but I’m sure you also know that in the world of business your value to any company opens or closes doors and allows you perks not often given to everyone but to those the company sees as an asset or money maker. If that company wants you bad enough and you explain that one of the requirements is that you have a company Benz rather than the company Chevy and the company agrees to those terms how is it your fault if others have issues with it and would you give up the Benz and hop in the Chevy to be a team player or continue to drive the Benz which was part of your agreement with corporate and one of the factors that went into your decision to join the firm in the first place…….They lied to get him so why should he back down because as we all know if you don’t stand for something you’ll fall for anything……

  • Lori

For all the black sistas complaining he’s with a white chick……..YOU CAN HAVE HIM BACK!!!!!

  • shamar from the m -town

a promise is a promise mo matter how petty it is everyone hates it when someone tells you they are going to do somthing then change at the end. props for him standing his ground

  • Hummm

So what! He will never be as great as his father, anyways!

  • Hummm

…and that little girl int he picture is going to take all his lunch money!

  • B

Why is everybody hating on the kid!? His dad is freaking Air Jordan. That would be like Sasha and Malia becoming Republicans…lol. Or, like the President of General Motor’s kid driving a Toyota.

  • enkogkneegro ( Uncle E…if you like )

    @ B….

Its as simple as that and to add to it the fact that they lied…….

  • always knew

    MJ’s kid is a spoiled brat…Michael NEVER owned Nike…

Therefore, he should’ve received no special favors. He has to earn his way. Ashamed at this society, if your parents are famous, you can have it your way…

Juanita/Michael should be ashamed of herself, look at the type of spoiled rugrats, they helped raise…

they are going to continue through life, the same way…

Mj’s son is definitely following his Daddy’s footssteps, eyes closed kissing his wht girl…

    SMMH.

    that’s quite alright.

too much trouble, too high maintenance and

    he’s already ruined… you can keep him… :)

  • white male

I think he did the school wrong.

  • champhf

i understand people saying he is honoring his father but what he did was arrogant…and why does all rules have to change for one person? that was selfish and tells you he is full of himself

  • AJ

Let’s talk about the kids who don’t have rich parents. Or the economy. And how that money is a lot of money that that school needed.>>>>In effect the kid is a jerk and his rich a$$ don’t care who he is hurting.

  • DayShifter

Ok, if it was agreed that he could wear the shoes, why did this issue come to an end NOW. It should have been closed as soon as he joined the squad.

  • ALPHA1906

If I had his money I would act the same way so poor people stop hating congratulate!!!

  • JoshRick

Why does he look 40 years old?

  • memchee

just plain ole stupid on the part of the schol.

they should have sent him on his way to go play for a school that wore nike.

  • sassalene

The other guys on the team should jump him.

  • sassalene

Sorry but we are not crabs in a barrel for calling out this spoiled joke. It does not matter what the school promised him he should have had enough respect for his school and teammates to wear the same shoes as everyone else. And I’ll bet anything he will not make it to the NBA because the billionaires that own those teams does not need a bribe from michael jordan.

  • Jay the Real One

Nike will do a deal with the school it’s given, it’s MJ and it’s great press.

  • Dizzy McElroy

By no means is this shocking news. None.

  • mother love

Doing the hockey play offs the great MICHAEL JORDAn wore a addidas shirt that the mayor of CHI gave him but he covered the addidas symbol with some tape Young Marcus could have been a team player and covered the lable, problem solved.

  • Salakatae

It would be a conflict of interest for him to wear any other shoe than his dads shoe.

  • )’:

    Rihanna has a big nose…

  • lEAVE-ME-BEE

THAT’S B.S. IT WOULDN’T BE A CONFLICT OF INTEREST FOR THAT BOY TO WEAR HIS ADIDAS SHOES, IT WOULD BE A CONFLICT FOR MJ! HE’S THE ONE THAT HAS THE BIG NAME, & CONTRACT WITH NIKE, NOT HIS NOBODY SON!!!! AND WHY DOESN’T HE LOOK LIKE HIS MOTHER OR FATHER???? TOO BE RICH; HE SURE LOOK WAAAAAY OLDER THAN 18!!!!!! TOO MUCH PARTYING PERHAPS???? TIRED OF SEEING HIM LOCKING LIPS WITH SOME VANILLA FEMALE…… WHAT EXACTLY ARE THESE SONS PREPARED TO DO IN “REAL LIFE” OTHER THAN TRY AND LIVE OFF THEIR DAD’S NAME….. ONE DROPPED BASKETBALL ALTOGETHER, NOW WHAT???? INSTEAD OF HIM REFUSING TO GO ALONG WITH ADIDAS AND HIS TEAMMATES & NOT WEARING ADIDAS’S SNEAKERS FOR A WORTHY CAUSE, HE SHOULDA THOUGHT ABOUT HELPING HELP THOSE LESS FORTUNATE, HE GONA ACT LIKE HE SIGNED A A PROMOTIONAL DEAL FOR BEING AN OUTSTANDING ATHLETE????? HIS MOM EVIDENTLY, DID NOT TEACH THEM TO REMEMBER WHERE YOU COME FROM EVIDENTLY!!!! THIS IS SAD, REALLY!!!!

  • The Bear…YES I’m BACK

They should have kicked him off the team and kept the 3 million. He’s not thatgood of a player anyways. There is no I in team.

  • sassalene

    Amen @lEAVE-ME-BEE

Good question why don’t he look like his mother or “father”?

  • JC ‘o Bklyn

Come on Junior, you should be smarter than that; Your daddy kind of owns Nike, you should at least try to partially own Adidas. Every body would have the common sense to know that you’re only wearing Adidas for the check$.

  • Debra

Don’t you haters get it..this is a great opportunity now for UCF to get a NIKE contract! They were ignored before by the larger schools in the state, and now…Nike will step in a and give up the goods, out of gratitude for Marcus refusal to wear the Adidas,,who whants to wear crappy Adidas, when they can wear the Swoosh!!!! Go Marcus! Stop hattin on the kid, everyone can’t be an MJ talent wise, his kids will have the opportunity to be great in other areas besides the court..it’s about time, our Black Men are capable of doing other things besides running, jumping and catching balls for Masta!

  • Consider this…..

Okay, so here’s why everyone is F*CKED in this situation:

    1) Marcus Jordan does NOT = Mike Jordan. His skills are not stellar enough for the UCF basketball program to hang all their championship hopes and dreams on, I don’t give a d@mn who your daddy is. So, he needs to stop reading his own press.

    2) UCF’s dumb @ss should have never promised this boy that he could wear shoes that were different from everybody else. Why whould they do that? Way to create division/alienation within the team before this lil’ Negro even was on it. Feeding this boy’s ego in hopes of recruiting him…SMH…

    3) Ummmm, wasn’t Mike Jordan at the negotiation table at the time of this recruitment? Why didn’t he just offer up front to use his clout and work out a contract with Nike for the entire school in the first place? Most of the other major Florida schools (U of Florida, U Miami, Florida State) have Nike contracts. That would have been a good first step to attempt to get up there with the heavyweights. (Which, again, is what they thought recruiting this boy would do….) That way this whole fiasco could have been avoided. And Marcus could have worn his PRECIOUS Jordans. Now, not only does UCF NOT have a contract with a major sports company, this lil’ boy will now and forever be labeled as the priviledged jerk who caused them to lose it.

    SMH @ the whole cluster f#ck of a situation….

  • diamond

All 3 kids have had a great life & the best of the best that life can bring. It’s not the children’s fault that they have had the experience that most of us have never had or have. However if it was a rule for him to wear the addidas then it’s only fair that he follows the rules & regulations of the university. But allowing him to get away with it because of who his father is, is only enabling him to not follow rules & regulations to the extent he know’s he can get away with whatever he feels like getting away with. This situation could have been a business decision for the corporate people. But in reality its hurting Marcus, Because he may be in a world of denial where he can do & say whatever he wants to do. I think its great that his parents can give their kids the world but at the same time you have to enforce rules & make sure they’re humble. In the world of (i can do anything whenever, it a BIG TRAP to lose or fail).

  • Ally

I promise you he’s not. he is the reason we lose actually! i remember one game we were down and the coach FINALLY took him out for the first time ever. in the 5 min. he was out we put up 14 pts….just sayin
