I LOVE NAS MAN!!!! HE ALWAYS SPEAKS THE REAL. I NEEDED THIS SONG THIS MORNING. WE ARE STILL KINGS AND QUEENS!!! NEVER FORGET THAT! We are the question and the answer! We were scholars long before colleges! Will be getting this album. FEELING THIS HARD….THIS HISTORY DON’T ACKNOWLEDGE US!!

  11. Black Beauty

Nas did all of this for publicity. He was talking sh**. He is about making money, and the N title was not going to make him any. I like his music, but I think that he played himself this time.

  12. Does anyone know the new title of the album?

  13. @black beauty

i agree that the title would not make him money, folks of any race whether black, white, hispanic, etc, would not understand it….too controversial

  14. Rider

Maybe, but it got him the publicity even if he has changed the name now.

  15. Mocha Java

i think he’s calling it UNTITLED now .

  16. Rider

i thought he said it was now just ‘NAS’

  17. REAL2REELVISIONS

He is no dummy. He got bills to pay, he really dont sell cd`s or really do concerts. Plus his wife don`t make sense or dollars…lol

    http://www.my*****e.com/egocartelmusic

  18. da darkness

    lol@REAL2REELVISIONS

    @bossip yawn

  19. cause he knows hat ***** is stupid.

  20. Whatever Nas does is gonna bang! Imma true Nas fan and when him and Jay was beefing in NY, everyday Flex dropped Ether in NY it was a killer! You can bang it right now and people would still give Jay the side eye because of that song. I was riding with him before he got the tooth fixed and I’m still gonna ride.

  21. Marquis de Sade

Perhaps he should title the cd: **********NESS!

  22. vonnieluv

I like this song much better then the other one. I love me some Nas tho.

  23. Mocha Java

    this track is the truth!

  24. I'm Just Me

    @ SINNER MAN

The article said it will be released untitled!

  25. Islandgal1920

    I like the song.

  26. da darkness

the souf is so winning. no “northeners” want to bring any of these topics on this track to the mediums, other than on records. hence, no black colleges in the north. and the songs steadily play about being “16 at war” and this here track i shall call uprising music. “right!” anyways the souf. name a artist he running circles around the industry. the souf is the industry.

  27. PRTTYBRWNGIRL

a little too late now he already got dropped from his label .. he might as well have stood his ground

  28. Cage

^^ You cool and all darkness, but that sounded stupid as hell…

  29. Ms.Brilly

This sounds like some behind the scenes pressure from the business side. I don’t fault him for his decision. I’m ready for this album…

    and for da darkness:

are you sure THAT’S the reason why there are “no black colleges in the north”? Just a question :-)

  30. @ I’m Just Me

    Ok thanks

  31. Certain

Gotta love that title. Both for this particular blog entry and Nas’ album.

Anyway, its too bad. I was hoping it would hit the shelves like it was. Oh well.

  32. MadBrooke

I’m glad this clown changed the title. Ole ignant ***** ghetto *****. Oops, did I say the Nword…lol

  33. A RENEEGAR, now that is funny and perfect timing. NAS is smart.

  34. A RENEEGAR, now that is funny and perfect timing. NAS is smart.

  35. getyourhandouttamypocket

    “Reneger”…cute…lol

  36. da darkness

oh there’s no black colleges in the north because heads wanna be on some ol beef with the preparer and not the cook. look, the souf they got ***** for the north, “watch me do me” the track will “forever” be dat piff. heads can’t stand the radio, right? but only because the souf has all radio waves “All!” i wanna see records come out doing them like how RedMan or Big L. or the former Nas, did. how OutKast does now. dem cats have been non-stop for a min.

the north has lost its reasons for the Harlem Rennisance, thus the souf is picking up the torch. the black schools in the souf are building and building with more and more students whom are not only black attending them. i know people heard of the white dude at Morehouse, ***** is big if you havn’t. anyways

@cage peep how that obama church thing went. he spoke of some truth in that statement. but was it too early to begin bringing up subjects that the asian, native american, black man feels, west indians, have experienced here when will the cure come. the music is touching audiences wit a lil bit more pow. peep the soulja boi song. countless ATL joints, Houston, FLA, go to the club shorties get the looses when they hearing the souf music. even at the NBA playoff games you hearing all souf music. they ***** is together, thus black schools in the souf

  37. I'm Just Me

    WHAT UP CAGE?

  38. Lady elle

There are a few Black Colleges in the North

Prior to the Civil War, public policy in the South prohibited the education of blacks. In certain northern states, abolitionists such as the Quakers established institutions to educate free blacks or runaway slaves. Cheyney University (founded in 1837), Lincoln University (founded in 1854) in Pennsylvania, and Wilberforce University in Ohio (founded in 1856) count themselves among the first historically black colleges.

Now I don’t know if the education is equivalent at this time.

as usual I like his message.

he came a long way from ouchie wally…

  39. I don’t usually pay this en-eye-double-gee-ee-ahr any mind because I think he’s a po’ man’s Jay-Z but I’m feeling this track.

  40. Chaka

Idiot. This is all nonsense. Nas is not educating anybody. Please…

  41. bree

    LOL @ RENEGER!

the album is being called ‘Nas’ (as per NY radio)

  42. statim08

    Yeah Nas, try anything.

  43. COME ON

I SAID IF BEFORE I’LL SAY IT AGAIN NAS = HALF MAN HALF AMAZING.

  44. OFF TOPIC

BOSSIP DID NOT TELL THE STORY ABOUT QUEEN PEN AND HER GUY! HE BEAT HER UP BECAUSE SHE WAS MESSING WITH PLIES! I JUST THOUGHT THAT I WOULD MAKE IT JUICY..

    CARRY ON

  45. COME ON

CORRECTION I SAID IT BEFORE. I’LL SAY IT AGAIN NAS = HALF MAN HALF AMAZING.

  46. lovely and amazing

For centuries others have profiited off turning us into and calling us N-gger but a black man can’t make money by owning and challenging the existence of the word.

If NAS had instead called his album *****s or My *****s or For My *****s or Real ***** it would have been more palitable and accepted.

The difference is N-gger confronts and challenges white racism while ***** is deemed an acceptable term of black endearment.

I applaud Nas for daring to push the envelope, challenge the staus quo, and confront the world’s complicity with anti-black racism. I hope his *****le, humble, and wise capacity to compromise pays off. In fact, I’m buying both CDs with both spellings to support and stand in solidarity with and supoprt him.

I like Nas. He’s smart and unafraid to be so. I still think Nas has what it takes to be a great educator. He should open boys empowerment schools in US inner-cities like Oprah did for girls in Africa. His performing concerts at his schools would sustain them. He can make a difference.

Just my two cents for all its worth.

  47. The_Truth

NAS IS BAKING UP A CL*****IC!!!

Hold it down for those who enjoy REAL music Nasir, we got you.

  48. Lovely One

About DAMN time. No derogatory titles please!

  49. DaPro

He had to change up the album in order to reach the m*****es

No question I’m coping this album

  50. Madame Enigma

    Nas is the truth…

Anyone who knows anything about him should be used to his shenanigans.

His tactic worked ,he’s a smart dude . Now if you are a person with limited brain power, of course this is mind-baffling to you.Read a book…

  51. Ripcity

Nas is a great MC,.. U can only name a few rappers that is even on his level… and wus up wit these south people that think they are winning…how is that?…. when is the last time some rapper sold more than Jay Z or 50cent,..

I like a few south rappers so im not gon go there wit sales… but MCing…. its only a few thas really good

    I like Luda & T.I.

Lil Wayne is consistant and Ross is holding it down… but Nas, jayz, Styles P, jadakiss are superior MC’s

  52. WordzOfaProphet

I dnt think Nas wanted to change da name at all. I do think it was just 4 bizness and money purposes cuz of the controversy behind, but F*^k all dat, when da hell is dis CD gonna drop

  53. da darkness

what a comment! “Quakers” founded black colleges need i say more. Nope, nuff said!

    nas educating right, hmmmmmmm nope.

OutKast the best rap group this here is consistant. no hit and misses all steady is the ship from the souf. Jeezy consistant, turn on your radio, put in a mix tape or mix cd, you hear the track after track after track, the records don’t lie.

as far as that mcing ***** goes. check the booth on rap city “the souf puts in the bars need less to say. the money the north is getting with jay up in them planes, and 50 eating. but on a artistry of bars and hooks it’s them people from the land of the neck bones, black eye peas, collard greens, peach cobblers, rice, all dat, like the records recorded

  54. dude’s an idiot

  55. JorgeOoOoOo

Why does bossip always link to that lame ***** live s***** website. JUST POST THE DAMN STORIES IN THE ARTICLES!!! No one wants to go to support that gay ***** website it will never be youtube either.

  56. TT

I know this has nothing to do with the topic, but why did bossip say that Black on Flavor of Love was going to win? Thing2 won. I trusted Bossip.

  57. I Love NAS!! Stop Calling him a Reneger. NAS is a Smart MAN. Remember (PRIDE = primary reason I die early (I meaning U). NAS, has to to what he has to do to make it happen no matter what anyone thinks of him. NAS is INTUNE with HIMSELF so Nothing anyone says CAN Discourage Him. The New Title is called what “NAS” Meaning He aint change a thing just did what he had to do to get the music out to the people. STand Up for OBAMA. Bossip Let’s start looking at things from another Perspective and stop automatic shooting MY PEOPLE!! NAS your request is about to come true ” I Wish They Elect OBAMA”HUH ** I know what it is. LOL.

  58. BLUNTBLAZER

  60. Nas is the truth.Always has been.

  61. Lady elle

    Hey history isn’t made up.

At this time frame those were most of the Abolitionist and a lot of them were Quakers

    Benjamin Lundy

    Wlliam Penn

    Lyman Beecher

    Charles Finney

    William Lloyd Garrison

  62. Lady elle

    to name a few

  63. Brooklyn, Stand UP!

Nas is a true Ghetto Profit. The song is “Hot”, can’t wait to cop the album. Shouts to Queensbridge!!

  64. Ms.Brilly

So, da darkness, I guess you’re a fan of the south, huh? LOL. I didn’t see anybody posting anything negative about the south… why are you pushing the issue so hard??!!! oh well, do you.

  65. Earth Sign

I dont think he wanted the change his album title, it was to satisfy the people who distribute the records; the record companies. I think if it was left up to him, he would have left it the same.

  66. Its6amHoGetOut

Heres the reason Nas changed that title, Walmart, Kmart and Target aint gonna sell an album called “N**ger”

  67. Its6amHoGetOut

    @ Da darkness,

***** are you crazy? OutKast aint as consistent as they once were, but they’re better than the other sh*tty ***** *****s comin’ outta the south. Who in the f*ck watches rap city anymore? Bet is riding that south d*ck because ya’ll *****s still buy records and it doesnt take much to please you, I could fart into a mic, put a casio beat behind that sh*t and it would sell in the deep south as long as you can dance to it! If I wanna go double platinum all I have to do is get some fat babymomma, a mule, a case of cough syrup and put them all in my video, ya’ll n*ggas would request me 24/7 on the radio!

  68. Its6amHoGetOut

    Oh and Jeezy is wack.

  69. Madame Enigma

how’d this turn into north vs south?

  70. da darkness

@ Ms.Brilly somebody once said that hip hop was dead. and somebody else said “Hip Hop ain’t dead, it lives in the south.” so when cats tell me the souf ain’t winning or lacks dope mcs. be real. the beat makers and all dat have caught up and blew by with a wave of music from the souf that is legit yet are cl*****ics and have been. “mind my is playing tricks on me.” now hym that def beat and those lyrics. yeah ***** is ill. Eightball MJG “we started this *****, we gonna…” you know man! ***** is evident. the american dream has arrived.

soon, real soon those southern linguistics won’t sound so differnt anymore. shawty! it’ll be on cnn, cbs, etc… making a way that’s what the south has been and will be doing until the end of time. we started from there.

  71. da darkness

@Its6amHoGetOut oh ***** lol. dat was real note worthy??? nope. kid get a grip. because “buy you a drink” was the record of the year don’t be appauld the sound that is coming outta of the south is no way sore or yawning like the record i’ve just heard played and cats saying it’s fresh. eff outta here, nuff said. souf is king! you know! they know! lets get get get it! catch up

  72. I am a Nas stan. This song is HOT. Nas is the truth and one of the best MCs in hip-hop. I will be getting his album whatever the title of it is

  73. Jack Tripper

I beg to differ about Nas at once I thought Nas was that ish yea Ether was hot It Was Written (I remember we had Nas for our homecoming for It Was Written but got boo’d cuz he *****ed on Pac who just p*****ed) butd I was gung ho behind him but he fell off soon after.

Nas wants to educate when he seems his money is low because a lot of the street cats aint feelin im like they use to but the conscious heads always seem to follow.

That oh bullshyt he was on with Oochie Wallie Braveheart..yeah i am sure that made always the ladies feel like Queens. Man Nas be inconsistent sometimes even on that Success song with Jay he rapped off beat and about umm Nothing.

I wont take away what he once had but he just spitting stories right now not facts of life he lives by.

    Peace

  74. cocoa49

one word “publicity”…..i never got the point of this title anyway…..nas is not that powerful to make a change. he speaks a lot of the truth but using a word that has caused many black people grief and pain, was not a good look….i know he has a lot to say and i will be listening.

  75. Jahpson

    slow news day.

  76. I know I am old just tryin to keep up what waht does SMH mean? Help me out

  77. PghCheeze

    smh

    shaking my head

  78. Cage

@ da darkness: Thanks for the breakdown my dude…

Happy Tuesday Peoples!!! Damn its busy than a mtha***** here im ghost…

  79. Encyclopedia Brown

    That photo is disturbing!

  80. Whatchaknoaboutdat?

I like it… I like that he is trying to tell a part of our history. I am glad that he is changing the name of the cd and I hope that he quits wearing those damm *****s — although I get his message. He wants “them” to face the music and have to see that…. even tho we see it (that awful word) too.

  81. @ Da Darkness

In my humble just b/c corny cats like Plies, Flo Rida’ and Jeezy is sellin’ records means jack. I mean the bottom line with any record company is record sales no doubt. But 4 me personally if I hear cats like T.I, Plies, Jeezy, Rick Ross and others make one more coon a** crack reference or more gun play [which we always need more of] I’m gonna hurl. The more I hear some of these cats soundin’ like straight up Ni**ers the more I wanna vomit. The gat and crack references are tired in my humble opinion. Give me somethin’ that challenges me or takes me in a different direction. Don’t give me the same old corny a** constipated bullsh*t.

Big ups 2 Outcast, Goodie Mob and Luda’ but a lotta’ that Shuckin’ n’ Jivin’ N’ Grinnin’ Thru Gold Caps While Talkin’ About Crack N’ Throwin’ Dollar Bills @ Light Skinned Girls In Music Videos Cuz’ Its Hard Out Here For A Piiiimp Type Cooneration has GOT 2 go.

I’d purchase an album by NaS over any of the other cats I mentioned b/c I know that dude is at least makin’ an attempt at being thought provoking. A lot of these other cats just wanna front and pose in front of cameras appealing 2 the lowest common denominator while the Klan laughs at ‘em. Just my two cents. Overall no disrespect 2 the souf. Easy …

  82. Ibn

    I KNEW IT

THIS WAS A PUBLICITY STUNT FROM THE DOOR

  83. Its6amHoGetOut

    @ da darkness

Im gonna go easy because i can tell that sh*tty ***** deep south noise has rotted your brain, this summer “Rock the bells” tour is coming here to hawaii, Wu-tang, Tribe called quest, Public Enemy, nas, Krs one, De la soul, santo gold, MIA, GangStarr, Epmd, etc. notice a trend here, not one sh*tty deep south wannabe on the entire bill, everyone outside Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia (save for luda and Outkast except that wack ***** players nat anthem sh*t) Florida, Texas (save for geto boys, scarface)and Missouri knows that ya’ll time is damn near up, Master P proved you can only sell dogsh*t to hungry n*ggas for so long before they wake up and say “hey this taste like dogsh*t” and thats what you deep south n*ggas are getting right now.

Now that song “buy you a drank” was a hit, but it wasnt nearly as big as you make it out to be, and it wasnt song of the year. in the end true artistry will always win out, thats why all those groups I just mentioned above can still tour.

Try putting together a national tour featuring “Lil Boosie, Young Joc, Lil Weebie, Hurricane Chris, Lil Flip, Eightball & MJG, D4L and Dem franchise Boyz, as soon as those buses get to New Mexico to the west, Illinois to the midwest or anywhere to the east, you may as well turn those *****’s around, all youre gonna encounter is empty arenas!

Thats the truth, so you enjoy your shine right now because DETOX is releasing this year and even if it wasnt the south shall never rise again!

    6am reppin’ for real artist!

  84. La La

    I Ef’n Love Nas!!!

  85. The Bear

At least he has a clue what time it is.

  86. No matter what the title of NAS’ CD is, all of you know what’s up! So don’t act shocked or stupid. Many of you are distracted, don’t know who you are. nor your existence or your abilities. Many of you, especially some of you sisters are running around trying your best to act like your a white girl – and that’s got damn Blasphemy. My advice to all of you is to listen to this track over and over until you understand. So stop shaking your ***** to really bad hip hop and listen to this track. These are true words for you to digest. So here it is again: “they say we Ni-double G-e-r, we are – much more. Still we chose to ignore, the obvious, man, this history don’t acknowledge us. We were scholars long before colleges. We are the slave and the master. What you looking for? You’re the question and the answer”. Thanks NAS, I’m truly feeling this track.

  87. nice

  88. Mike

    Talk about truth in advertising. F*cking n*gger alright! I hate f*cking n*ggers!

  89. scoob lov

I am a huge Nas fan and own his whole catalog. However… I think this whole thing is trying to outdo the hype that became of his last album title” hip hop is dead”. That was a great album and long before it even dropped, people were debating what the meaning was and he wanted to do that again. My wife and I talked about this off-and-on this year and I decided that I was not gonna go out the first week to support an obvious stunt for first week sales. I am, somewhat, disapointed when a great MC has to pull stunts in order to remain relivant. You don’t think people will buy it cuz your you? Sad.

  90. PIMP DADDY

@MIKE AKA MY *****TY ***** LAY OFF LUDES HOE AND CALM DOWN.YOU ALWAYS GET THIS WAY WHEN YOU HAVE’NT HAD ANY OF PIMP DADDY SPERM SHAKES IN 2 DAYS.

  91. da darkness

@Its6amHoGetOut i’m gonna try my hardest not to disrespect. cause i am a gentleman, here i go… you live in Hawaii. you’re speaking upon a tour that is coming with major players in the 1995 era or even earlier. When “Frank White”, you’ve heard of this B.I.G. cat right?, was here none of the people, none wanted to hear your whole tour line up. See i’m east coast cuz-zent. I was crazy hip to Poppa. like its funny cause out in Hawaii you was on some ol “9-1-1- is a joke in your town,” stuff. B.I.G. and the Jr. Mafia and Badboy come coming around and they… put a end to alot of careers. “here comes the brand new flava in your ear.” oh the remix. i’m whistling “like the roots you wack to me, take them lines back to the factory, i see the gimics the weak lyrics, ***** is depressing, please forget. don’t be mad ups…” eff outta here yo! who could eff with that joint by itself. sheeeeiiiit. the badboy family came in like an almagamation.

A new regime was the talk and walk in NY, u know. It quaked the east coast and the industry as a whole. even the videos had to become a grander scale, thus B.I.G. All the words flying over the audiences heads wasn’t felt anymore. “things done change.”-Nortorious u know the rest. hip hop cl***** is now outta session boi, yeah. lol Hawaii. live it first.

  92. SallyG

What the damn hell is in the kool aid ya’ll are drinking?

Am I the only one on here that realizes that this dude’s flow is WEAK?!! That song sucks.

He’s been talking about this (publicity stunt) album for months, yet it STILL hasn’t dropped.

    Bored now.

  93. so f*ckin' rude

smh this ***** is no longer relevant

  94. Nas should of kept it like it was, he should of fought for something he believed in, I thought he was a fighter, I am disappointed in him but still love him and will buy the cd

  95. 777

out of all yall people on this site none of yall responded to the message of the song all yall would rather get caught up in the album title instead of the messgae of the song, bossip yall should keep yall site strictly about worthless bull***** gossip, these people don’t care about substance or the truth they to caught up in a world full of bull***** propaganda which bossip plays a role in

  96. daronjabari

Nas – N.I.G.G.E.R (The Slave and the Master)

    [Chorus]

    They say we N – I – Double G – E – R

we – are – much more,

    still we choose to ignore,

    the obvious.

Man this history don’t acknowledge us,

We was scholars long before colleges.

    They say we N – I – Double G – E – R

we – are – much more,

but still we choose to ignore,

    the obvious.

We are the slave and the master,

    What you looking for?

You the question and the answer.

    We trust no black leaders,

Use the stove to heat us,

    Powder eggs and government cheeses,

The calendar was Martin, JFK, & Jesus,

    Gotta be fresh

Go to school with fly sneakers.

    Schools without dated books,

    we are the forgotten,

Summers coolin’ off by the fire hydrant.

    Yeah I’m from the ghetto,

Where old black women talk about they sugar level,

    It’s not unusual,

To see photos of dead homies’ funerals,

    Aluminum foil on t.v. antennas

Little TV sit on top the big TV eatin TV dinners,

Girls die they hair with kool-aid

They gave us lemons we made lemonade,

    But this *****’s paid,

    Ancestry of slaves,

    Descendant of Kings

    It’s necessary I,

    Bling,

    Puts rings on every thing

    Where Timbs on every scene.

  97. daronjabari

    [Chorus]

Do I mean it like a slave master?

    N*GG*R!

    No!

    I’m gangsta

    Gotta eat rappers,

    My abbreviation

Was young when I caught the cases,

That should mean the court could see my changes

    Take off the bracelets,

    Savage when broke,

    Smoke sour diesel

    Need no Bo-flex

My chest still cut-up like a bag of dope,

Thought patterns consist of boss matters,

    Spit Moses’ “Lost Commandments”

Like a gross sandwich out my mouth.

    Toast to government cameras

    Peepin us every week

I must have my cars homes & phones

    squeaked for bugs,

but this is what I was dreamin of,

between cutting hard *****e with new razors

    slicing my fingers up,

they use to string us up,

    we wanted everything,

but the one bringing us cake be the snakes

    like the…

like the New Jack City wedding scene

no time for mistakes trying to get it like (M___?)

  98. daronjabari

    [Chorus]

    My nig…

    Whattup my nig?

    People afraid of criticism

But I always put myself in a sacrificial position!

They been know I ain’t just rappin for fame,

I got my old homie (___?) the father asking for change!

Yep! I’d give this cash up

    This paper don’t matter

They seen me from skinny to fatter

    When I rap about war,

They got the tendency to scatter,

They ain’t my backup no more,

So now my enemies are at my front door,

    Cuz any time we mention

our condition, our history or existence,

    they calling it reverse racism,

still till today the street’s torn,

my brother Jungle always have a seat for ‘em

not behind me – beside me

you’ll always know where to find me,

they say the close ones will hurt you,

so let’s keep a small circle,

on the road to riches, and diamond rings

in the land of the blind

the man with one eye is the king.

    [Chorus]
