Sammy “Soft-White” Sosa Admits To Bleaching His Mug
Posted by Bossip Staff
Sammy “Soft-White” has finally come clean about his skin whitening:
Speaking publicly for the first time since photos of him from a recent musical awards ceremony were published on the Internet, Sosa said that the skin lightening is the result of the use of a facial cosmetic cream.
“It’s a bleaching cream that I apply before going to bed and whitens my skin some,” said the former slugger during the “Primer Impacto” program at the Univision Spanish network.
“It’s a cream that I have, that I use to soften [my skin], but has bleached me some. I’m not a racist, I live my life happily,” said a smiling Sosa during the interview.
The photo that has caused such turmoil was taken during the Grammy Latino Awards ceremony held last week in Las Vegas. It showed an extremely pale, smiling Sosa accompanied by his wife Sonia. The photo, distributed very quickly throughout Spanish- and English-language Web sites, caused speculation that Sosa was sick and quickly found its way to gossip-related sites.
Well, that bleaching cream worked its butt off on Sammy’s face. He looks like Ricky Ricardo now. SMH@ self-hatred and mutilation.

first! and the green contacts top it all off….he’s a self hater.
thats sad….
1st.
WOW.
SMH.
First…at least he has admitted it, but now he sees that *****ody is feeling this change, so he should revert back to the way he used to look. Ditch the perm, the bleach, and the contacts. That was so the 90s anyway. Let it go and love your African roots, Sammy. You only are making people pity and think about how pathetic you are to be so old and yet so dumb.
BASURA!!!! SO WHAT THE CREAM DID THAT TO HIS HAIR ALSO AND GAVE HIM CONTACTS!?!?!?!
Thanks for being honest, Sammy.
That’s an amazing transformation.
ricky ricardo….LOL
Sammy looks effin crazy and he needs to get his color back. Every time I see this picture I just shake my head.
5th?
At least he’s honest,but he needs to come correct and admit that he rubs that mess all OVA his body, cause his ears and hands are the same colour as his face, and noones body and face are the same colour. Sorry. Just doesn’t happen.
Part 2 will be on today. They ask him if he’s proud to be black. I CAN’T WAIT to see how this *****’er answers this question. Making the rest of us Dominicans/Africans look stupid… He better watch what he says, or it’ll be the end of his career without a doubt. There are many of us Dominicans who are PROUD of our African roots, for him to come & f.u.c.k it up for the rest of us b/c he is insecure. SMFH…
Damn his wife could’ve told him. Your starting to look like MJ son..come on son
We can talk bad about him but if he were to name the cream it would sell out in black neighborhoods.
& btw, the reporter had asked him if everything was “even” if you catch my drift. HILARIOUS!!!!
euro-trash look is what Sammy is checkin for?
Go on Sammy get white skin-ed.
Everytime I see that pic it scares me..
SMH
Glad he finally admited it because his first excuse was lame. Some of those creams cause cancer.
with his lying behind, like *****ody couldn’t tell…
Why do blk people hate themselves so much?
Yeah, I know, he’s not blk–
He’s Dominican..
In the first quote he states “it’s a bleaching cream that… whitens my skin some.” But in the second quote, he says “… I use to soften [my skin], but has bleached me some.”
WTF? So is this sh*t an intended effect as suggested by his first quote, or a side effect as indicated by his second quote? I repeat, WTF?
Okay, so if it’s a facial cream, that means when Sosa takes his shirt off that his body is chocolate from the neck down, right? SMDH.
mm hmmm
This is just sad on so many levels, it really is. *sigh* This is no surprise that indeed he was bleaching no if ands or buts about it. SMH. Did he not think people were going to question what happened? Also, I would be terrified of the side effects he might suffer from this down the line.
I’m in utter disbelief. For him, reality is being someone or something that he never was. If it makes him happy and doesn’t hurt anyone, I’m all for it. But it’s not to say I don’t get a good laugh from it.
Stay positive, Stay conscious
shekeyultd.com
I don’t care what anyone says, skin bleaching does not look natural. It makes your skin look sick and pale and sometimes blotchy. I will never understand people using cream to lighten their skin, accept who you are and love the skin you are in!
@GET REAL
We can talk bad about him but if he were to name the cream it would sell out in black neighborhoods.

No offense, but I highly doubt it..
Not every one wants to be white..
I WOULD NEVER TRY TO ALTER MY SKIN COLOR.
I LIKE THE WAY I LOOK. THIS IS THE WAY GOD MADE ME.
I’M NOT CHANGING FOR *****ODY…
I don’t care if very las blk person alive go buy that crap, Iam not getting skin cancer behind some stupid pill to be pale. I do not want to ‘fit’ in…
If they don’t like me the way I am, that’s THEIR problem…NEXT!
yet he still making excuses saying its for “softing” his skin.
Well use some lotion if you wanted your skin to be soft. lying a s s..
the part they moderated , said noone/ *****ody..
SMH at being censored…
His wife is pretty
If he’s happy then…
@drenk
BASURA!!!! SO WHAT THE CREAM DID THAT TO HIS HAIR ALSO AND GAVE HIM CONTACTS!?!?!?!
yooooo ur a fool but that pic really disturbs me that shiit is scary uhhh.
Sammy you didn’t need to admit…we all knew buddy…you had to admit it to yourself…
Whatever helps him sleep at night.
Just a thought…but I wonder how his parents feela about this. If my child completely changed her complexion it would break my heart. It would make me think that I did not do my part, that I did not tell her enough how beautiful she is.

Just the fact that he said “I’m not a racist” says IT ALL about his mental position.
He ACTUALLY DOES see himself as a white person. They say in this new “movie”, Precious, there are scenes where the abusive mother (Monique) looks into mirrors and sees the image of a slender white blond and not the overweight black woman she is.
This sammy sosa crap is a direct life representation of that.
Sad thing is though, he will CLEAN UP on this product if he does market and sell it. There is NO shortage of self hating blacks. I just wish they develop a pill that you could take and overnight change from black to whatever you wanted to be. That way, we’d be finally rid of the very people who do the Black race the most harm…..Other “black” people….
MistaO
Typical Self Hating Dominican!! No surprise there.
The real question is why now. He’s went through most of his life and allstar career as a man of color and now that he’s out of the limelight he decides to do this nonsense…
Hmmm….. where’s all the stupid people who used every excuse in the book to defend him. Oh he’s Dominician and their so proud of their culture they would never do that…. BULLSH*T. Oh it’s just the cammara lighting…. BULLSH*T
I’m soooo glad he admitted it. I knew it and now people can shut up thinking people dont have issues and people dont bleach their skin. THEY DO!
Come on Kelly Roland, your next…. ADMIT IT already honey.
Oh and beyond bleaching…..
Dont let me get started on them fugly eye contacts, and that wack azz perm.
Somebody need to slap this fool…. SMH…. HARD
if folks who did this knew how retarted they looked they simply just wouldn’t do it. it is obvious when someone is dark and they are bleaching their skin, you don’t appear to be light skinned, you appear as though something is totally wrong with your skin…why can’t people see this?
@Candy Cane, sad but it’s true.
His face looks like he’s been using the bootleg Ambi that’s sold in alleys in other countries. Between his skin, his bad S-curl and his contacts, I feel like I’m looking at the clown performing at my goddaughter’s 5th grade Halloween party.
SMH @ his self-hating behind…
“Hydroquinone is one of the most common ingredients that are used in the formulation of face whitening creams. This chemical has proven to inhibit the effects of melanin, thus causing the skin to whiten from its natural color. But, the worse part is that hydroquinone is a skin irritant, which after prolonged usage can increase the chances of causing skin cancer.”
Gnarly sh*t. Good luck Sosa…
“Lightens my skin some…” He is lying, look at his ears and the sides of his kneck. He is using those damn lightening pills that lighten the whole body. but he is so extreme I think he probably uses cremes too. Look at him he is sooooo happy to me white, he thinks he looks good but he looks raw and scary
I knew he was using something. It’s ashamed that even in other cutlures the darker your skin is, it’s consider to be a bad thing.
His face may be “white” but his ***** is Black.
Self hate is the most dangerous of all.
GET REAL
We can talk bad about him but if he were to name the cream it would sell out in black neighborhoods.

There are plenty of skin whitners and bleaching cream available in the black community already but most of us accpet our natural hues(it’s the rest of the world who doesnt) so I doubt this cream would be any different.If you really want to get lighter all you have to do is go visit your local dermatologist……its really no secret.
So what he is saying is…. that he bleaches his face, hand, ears, and neck? Because It seem as if his whole body is bleached. He has even gone as far as to straighten his hair! C’mon Sosa tell the truth! Face cream is not going to do all that.
LMAOOOO @ Sammy Sosa Soap
@ Man I Just
You were justified in what you said.
How sad!!
He knew what it was and what it would do. I can’t believe it, another Michael Jackson.
Man. What’s up with this skin lightening sh*t? Just cause Michael died dont mean we have to follow what he did. Gross. He looks like a zombie.
smh…that’s all i gotta say about this.
usually I would ride with my Dominican brother….but even I can’t defend him on this nonsense…
I just don’t get the point…everybody knows him as black @ss Sammy Sosa…so why change now when he’s already been in the spotlight for years as black @ss Sammy Sosa….
He look sick 1
A DAMN SHAME!
americans are the last ones to talk about self hate LoL Some of you(mostly all) talk badly about About black africans and calls them blue,dark,mandingo
I was hoping it was Steroid use or something. This is sad. He looked good before. Now he’s sickly looking and ironically now he’s happy and feels he looks good. Pasty skin and fish green contacts and all. Wow Sammy.
AND BTW – it’s Precious, not the Mother (Monique), who sees herself as a slender blonde in the movie.
@num1dominicano
well maybe if you didnt mention his orginal skin tone in such a derogatory way… there would be less of this b.s.
“black azz sammy sosa”…. you white looking domicians kill me. You are the ones who ridicule the darker ones (who usually look better) because of your own lack of melanin. He should have been proud of his apperance, but probably dealing with issues that stemm from his child hood.
Sammy Sosa…. You really need to stop… seriously. You see how stupid MJ looked… why follow the madness.
His ears and neck also look white….where else you putting this cream Sammy?
@ a black man
I agree. It is so stupid how Black americans talk so bad about Black Africans. Especially when one is the mutant version of the other. How can you hate on what your suppose to look like in the first place.
Never understood that. It’s self hate as well.
smh @ his wife seeming to be cool with it.
I agree his complexion doesn’t look norma. All the BS lies he is telling, and getting his dumb a** friends to lie for him. He is STILL not being honest. The first place I looked at was his ears. So let me guess he rubs cream on his ears as well, right? His ears needed cleansing “rejuvenation” oh and the side effects of the cream turned his eyes GREEN!!!! give me a break! He is taking those stupid ***** pills. That is hollyweird folks. Make some money all of a sudden black is not good enough. Paul Mooney spoke on this.
Twilight looking *****.
@ Candy Cane a black man
ive also heard africans tear into black americans with all the stereotypes that white people use. BUT i dont let a FEW ignorant people change my beliefs about a whole group
@drenk
I partically agree with that too. But in my experience when it comes apperance wise it’s the Black americans that ALWAYS talk about how dark and ugly Black Africans are (which I completely disagree with).
I’ve heard Black africans rant more on society issues, education, socialism, black communities..etc.
African features are not welcomed in America. And Black americans go right along for the ride.
blah blah blah…I know I hate myself and black people blah blah blah…
Sammy has had issues with his skin and acne. I first thought it was from the steroids. Some treatments available to even out your tone will lighten your skin at the same time.
The contacts are killing me.
My boyfriend who is Dominican says everyone is cracking up back on the Island.
He confessed about the lightening cream! But what about those contact lenses????? ‘He’s on a mission to appear more white but we all know you Sosa
Typical Self Hating Dominican!! No surprise there.

Word!
Over half the Dominican ball players have white-looking latina wives.
What I don’t understand is the comments about black Americans the complexion hue issues.
But what really gets me is the Afro-Spanish Carribean sector who thinks because they speak a different language other than english, they are not black.
The trianglar trade put African slaves in North America, Central America/Carribean and South America.
Panamanians and Dominicans are the WORST when it comes to the skin color issue.
Know your history peeps so we can stop this self-hate.
Sammy Sosa proved to me what I knew all along, that he hated how he look and anything black.
Now he just has to worry about skin cancer and melanomas and premature aging like the rest of the Cave-people. I thank god everyday that I am BLACK.
@lulu27
I agree. I was responding to another comment in regards to black americans, but black need to realize that black people are all over the place. We speak different languages and live in different places. Dominicans are some of the worst. You can have a afro-cuban who looks completely african, but will not say so. They so busy claiming Dominican,Cuban,etc. because it sounds better than saying “Black”… To them, they need to physc themselves out.
I dont… I’m black in every sense of the word. I dont see a problem AT ALL with being black. If anything, it’s a gift.
Bleaching black skin is disgusting.
Whata sad world we live in *****odys happy with what GOD has given them..I’m going to pray for sammy say it ain’t so sosa,cmon sammy whyyyyyyyyy? don’t do this to yourself…
Sammy is still trying to save face. Notice he said it was a cosmetic skin cream that just happened to bleach his skin…like it was an accident.
Just because he admitted it doesn’t make it right. If Sosa wants to look like Count Dracula, let him go on bout his business, no need to have him running around trying to justify his hatred with lies for us citizens.
@justme
“Damn his wife could’ve told him.”
Come on…you KNOW his wife is stroking that ego and making him think he looks amazing. It’s the difference between being honest with your spouse and just agreeing with everything they say. As my aunt has said, “if you are married and never disagree on anything, one of you is a fool.”
LOL @ Re for “Count Dracula”. I see the resemblance now!!
how do u explain the green eyes and the straight hair??
At this point the opinion of Black Americans on African features and skin hue is hardly relevant
Most Africans marry their fellow country man and are over there to make money and give back
This will only become an issue if Black Americans can stop Africans from pursing and education,getting jobs and starting businesses because of their features and skin hue
Since they are hardly in the position to do that then their opinion of African features and skin hue only impacts the African American community
Each group appears to have their own reasons for shunning each other and when it comes to Africans, features and skin tone is on the bottom of the list
If Black Americans feel that their lighter skin makes them more accomplished then it is better to leave them in this state of paranoid delusion,especially since there are actually light skinned Africans who were able to acquire this feature without having to leave the continent
HE LOOKS CREEPY AS HELL!!
Too bad Sammy, you looked better with your brown skin..That’s some sick sh*t right there.

@Judy & Always Knew…..
ARE U KIDDING ME???? Skin bleaching creams is a billion dollar a year industry. You have all these differernt creams making $$$$ but if Sammy was to actually name the one he used, it would sell out. Oh, and since when did we start accepting our natural beauty AS A RACE. Maybe u have. I am looking around my office of 30 women right now. 21 are black. More than half have on a ponytail, braids, weaves or wig. You have 2 Korean beauty supply stores for every half mile here in Atl. Last time I went out all I saw was lace fronts.
I don’t know why the same people who come on this blog and try to write one half of the black race out of humanity (“black men ain’t s—t” …. “black women are all (fill in the blank)”….), would then denigrate this guy.
He’s just taking your sentiments to their logical conclusion. Blacks are such hypocrites.
Too many African-Americans are hypocrites.
How is Sammy bleaching his skin different from many of you African-Americans hatred for dark skin and your obessions with “good hair” and “light_skinnedness” – by marrying “white” ?
I don’t know… something else is different… His eyes and chin ain’t looking right. He was so handsome too! Weirdo now…
Sammy & Michael Jackson did what MOST African-Americans would do If they had the MONEY, POWER and CHUTZPAH.
Many of you are not Black and Proud, but Black and Ashamed.
Laurie Farmer is just keeping it Realzyyyyyyy.
You feel me to the weezyyyyyyyyy.
lace-fronts are destroying are black communities at an alarming rate.
Question: why are black women so afraid of kinky hair? I have friends I’ve known over 5 years and have NEVER seen their real hair. They take that mess down, and have it back up faster than a new walmart.

not me, I love being black. But I must say when your proud of being black it’s hard to hang around “regular” blacks because they dont understand you. Always talking about “keeping it real”…. yea right… lmao
I have nothing against Blacks who love themselves and their heritage.
It is the self-hating ones that crack me up, unfortunately I think most Black fall in that category.
wow. a hot mess! the monster eyes is what did it for me. wow
@Laurie Farmer
couldnt agree more. so true.
THE BEYAWCE SISTER REVLON COMMERCIAL..
BEYAWCE AND SALIVANGE PRANCING AROUND IN THAT LOREAL OR WATVER HAIRCOLOR COMMERCIAL LOOKING LIKE WHITE GIRLS WITH THEIR LONG ***** MAMA KNOWLES CREOLE CREATION SWEAVE…TALKING ABOUT THEIR HAIR COLOR FERIA..WITH 3 OTHER MODELS, I COULD NOT TELL WHO WAS WHITE IN THAT COMMERCIAL..
TYRA BACKS, BEYAWCE, SALIVANGE, ALL CONTACT, SKIN LIGHTENING, WEAVE WEARING CELEBRETRADS, BEAUTY SYMBOL OF THE BLACK COMMUNITY !!! WHATEVER!!!!!!
@Candy Cane
Much Respect to you.
There is something irresistably attractive about a person who loves himself or herself (White or Black) that no amount of skin-lightening cream, “good hair” or irrelevant claim about having white or indian ancestors 400 years ago can hold a candle to.

Dear Lulu, yop soy negro latino y estoy orgulloso de mi color i my raza.no puedes generalizar a todos los negros hispanos.
Im a black latino and very proud of my balck race since i was a kid my afro latinos parents always
say to me and my brothers that black is beutiful. so please dont say all afro latinos dont embrace their race some of us do.
those lips are still ours lol
@Laurie Farmer
sadly, we are far and very few in between. I get “looks” because I wear my own hair, which is odd because their the ones with the fake b.s. on their skulls. I like what God gave me, wouldnt trade it for nothing.
It’s really a deep issue that they will not accept. How many times have I heard a black women tell me they wear weave because it’s hard to deal with natural hair and it faster and all that other bullsh*t. so that excuses you to go YEARS and DECADES without showing your own hair. They say “it’s just hair” well then that’s more reason to wear your own. IT’S FREE DUMMIES, lol.
those ugly, unrealistic wigs and weaves cost alot of money. so stupid to me. I’m not talking about the ones who do it sometimes. I’m talking about 90% of black women who can breathe without it.
Those Dominicans hate being black!!!
@Doc
That person didnt say all. and besides if it doesnt pertain to you, why even respond.
Guilty conscience huh?!
@Yoadrian29
I am crackin’ up!! LOL!!! FUN-NEE!!
; )
the skin is bad enough…his initial statement was that he was concerned about the effects of the sun on his then dark brown skin he started using a skin rejuvination cream….yeah right….but why the perm and green eyes…..he needs to be proud of his Dominican/African roots
This is so ridiculous, most of the white girls that I smash love the tone and texture of our black skin. So why would I wanna be white, I would not be able to get that many white girls anymore. I would be stuck smashing sista’s YUCK!
Wow, he needs to stop using that cream, because he looks nazty.
And what is with the conked hair and contacts?
Can we say identity crisis, Sammy?
smh@ deesac
you worst then sammy.
@ deesac….
go ahead and get you some skin rejuvination cream like Sammy…nothing worse than a self hating negro
@Candy Cane,
“You can have a afro-cuban who looks completely african, but will not say so. They so busy claiming Dominican,Cuban,etc. because it sounds better than saying “Black”…”
How can you look completely African? They dont look like Somalis. They dont look like they are from souther Sudan, they dont look like they are South African. Maybe its you who have a problem with definitions. These people should claim they are Cuban or Dominican because that is the country they or their parents are from. It makes far more sense than saying black because as you know, “black” is dam near meaningless as an cultural, and social designation.
Sometimes Dominicans can be really color struck with themselves and others just like Black American people…smh
And just to think, his publicist said and I quote He is not trying to be like Michael Jackson…..
Just about a DAMN lie…
CHUUU’CH it’s time to take up the collection!!!!
@Candy Cane,
Lastly Europeans dont even use white. They always use their nationalities because white doesnt mean anything if you are British speak English, a member of the Church of England or if you are Italian, Catholic and speak Italian.
@Get Real, historically African men and women express ourselves through out hair, body, and attire. This is a part of who we are. We need to separate that expression from deliberately trying to appear caucasion. there is nothing wrong with braids, wigs, weaves there is a big difference between the average sista with a weave and what Lil Kim, Michael, and Sosa did to themselves.
@bb,
You make an interesting point. The idea of blackness is a very recent WESTERN phenomena. What does blackness mean on a continent like African when everyone is technically black but there are so many ethnicities, languages, religions, etc. The only reason why black Americans designate themselves as black or have been designated as such is because they live in a predominately white country. How do you distinguish between an Igbo and a Youraba, and a Fulani, or a Hausa? Thats who they are and they have been that longer than they have been “black.” Blackness is a bit of a fiction.
I love the skin I’m in- you see it first before you see me; treat me bad if you want to, I love my skin, it feels good because its an instant “checker” to see how I am going to be treated. Don’t have to get a spray tan and turn orange, but so many women will get that before going to an event. Our color shade is fantastic; so many different hues ~ wouldn’t bleach it for the world. Those who do, are trying to “p*****” or “escape” – for who and where?

TO num1dominicano:
YOUR PEOPLE CALL HIM BLACK@***** SAMMYSOSA???? WHY NOT JUST SAMMY SOSA. DAMN SOME OF YOU F** LATINOS ARE RACIST.
———————
that isn’t racist….it’s just a fact…like if someone is fat, I’d refer to them as fat @ss whatever, if they are tall, the same thing….it’s not racist. The only people who had a problem with his skin was himself…there’s not a big prejudice of skin color and such within Dominicans or on the island…..all Dominicans embrace each other….maybe a small percentage may be that way, but the majority are not…..Sammy Sosa just had a problem with himself…
On buses/subways, constantly hear people talk about how dark and light their relatives are – which child/brother is lighter/darker than the other – it’s really disgusting about the insecurities.
@num1dominicano,
As a Haitian I have my issues with Dominicans. You people kidnap, enlsave, and kill Haiitans but that is neither here nor there.
These black Americans are very insecure. The term “black” is more of an American cultural historical identifier. It would seem strange to me if Domincans or Cubans of any complexion referred to themselves as black as opposed to the nations that they or their parents come from. The language is different, the history is different, the religion is different etc. The term black doesnt do justice to it. Its bland, ahistorical, and erases our true indentities.
@num1domincano,
And did I mention we got the best part of the island. Holla.
Finally the little f**ker admits. He’s running from his race, there’s no doubt about that. He wears green contacts, perms his hair, bleaches his skin, and his wife isn’t exactly black either (the least of it, by the way). Did I miss anything? His culture has alot to do with it though. People from the Dominican Republic are in a sense criminalized for being Black…DARK, rather. It’s unfortunate…
@ num1dominicano
i agree its not racist its just people dont know latino culture. i was called the indian cuz i look indian, never took it as an insult, its just my features
all that money couldn’t buy Sosa self respect. . .smh
most black people hate them selves because they were taught to hate themselves via saturation of euro centric images of beauty. for this reason i will not let my daughters have white barbies; doll babies; or watch that disney crap until i’m 100% sure they are in love with them selves and their beautiful completion and beautiful hair. i reinforce images of natural beautiful women that look like them to build a foundation of self love and self respect. i tell them how beautiful they are first thing in the morning and last thing at night because i know for a fact they are subliminally getting bombarded with a different message when they leave my home. i believe if self hatred is taught; then self love is also taught at an early age. but when you love your self people do look at you like you’re crazy. like how i love my girls natural hair, men (and some women) say i’m crazy. i tell them they hate the natural state of them selves so of course they would hate the natural state of a beautiful black woman. this is why you find white men in love with natural black women because they were taught from birth to love the natural state of them selves so its easy for them to love and or appreciate the natural state of someone else. so i also believe when you respect and love yourself you can truly respect and love others.
. . . get a grip people.
imitation is the highest form of flattery. so think twice about who exactly you’re immatating and flattering.
Peace and Respect to all people who love themselves. Don’t try to be me because I’m damn sure not trying to be you.
Sosa lost.
For those of us who have visited Central and South America, and the Caribbean, even if we go with a completely open mind, hoping to find some place where the “color line” means so much less than it does in this country, we simply can’t ignore what is right in front of us.
I have a great fondness for afro-latinas, but they, like me, are the products of their upbringing and curture. One dominicana who meant the world to me, had to be taught that I wasn’t some kind of “exception” — there are millions of decent native-born african american men (at least SHE learned).
The pathology that *****igns all the best human qualities to those with pale skin, is HARDLY limited to latinos — just read teh posts on this f–ing blog.
Kigali (Marriage before carriage)
@num1domincano,
And did I mention we got the best part of the island. Holla.
——————–
right….I guess that is why Haiti is such a popular tourist attraction…f*ck outta here….
see what michael jackson started – having people hating their skin color and start to bleach to look white – gee RIP michael but you set a bad example hahahaha
eveybody and there mama wants to white -
These people kill me knifing up their face and bleaching their skin, then try to rationalize their sickness with some bull$sh*t excuse..Just like Michael Jackson lied and said he only had two plastic surgeries to his face, when we could practically see his chin implant and his freaking nose falling off..And the funny thing is they’re not fooling anyone the public can see right through their craziness.
dominicanos!!! lmao!! the worst… i had a dominican dude the same complextion AS me talkin about me getting pulled over by the cops!! hes a ***** too! just because he was fluent spanish doesnt mean hes spanish from SPAIN! i speak english! do i look like QUEEN ELIZABETH?
i am light skin green eyes jamaican – and while i lived in jamamica i hated my skin color – i hated the fact that i was not dark skin – i was teased
because of those things – but after living here for the past 21years , i realize the lenght people would go through to make themself look lighter – and still today i would pefer if i was a bit darker, i just dont get why people want to so light.
Oh well it’s his life – if bleaching his skin makes him happy and he’s comfortable with the ridicule then so be it.
@num1Domincano,
Listen, I dont care how many people go to the DR for sex with under age girls and snorkeling. I am talking about topography. Now how do you say that in Spanish?
and why would his wife sonia stand by and let him do this to himself? Did she want him to be lighter as well? I have to wonder about that, because if my man had such a beautiful Cocoa complexion, and he wanted to start bleaching, or I saw the cream was getting him too white, I would say Hey man you need to stop that. Your color is changing. The point that it got to that, I wonder what she was doing. I don’t think panamanians are color struck, they are down with their brown coloring, its the dominicans and puerto ricans that have it the worst with the lighter the better mentality. The afro cubans for the most part are happy with their afrocentricity and seem to be proud of it, with the whole music, they contributed heavily to the hispanic music scene.
People are never happy with who they are. I am very light skinned and I hate my complexion b/c of all the drama it causes…but I see that some people will mutilate themselves to have the features I was born with….so sad! We as blacks just can’t be happy!
BOSSIP SHUT UP…YALL HATE ON BLACKS EVERYDAY…SO WHAT DOES THAT SAY ABOUT YALL BLACK AZZES?
AND BTW YALL BROADS ON HERE WITH YA PICS OF U WITH “CHEMICALIZED” HAIR…LMAO…talkin about yall SHAKIN YA DAMN HEADS AT HIM…UMMMMM YALL SHOULD BE SHAKIN YA DAMN HEADS AT YOURSELVES.
@MS EJ AND SO FORTH….YALL NEED TO SHUT UP.
chemicalizin your damn hair to appear so called pretty.
IF HES A SELF HATER THEN ALL BLACK WOMEN THAT ROCK STRAIGHT AZZ WEAVES AND CHEMCALIZED THEYRE HAIR ARE SELF HATERS. AND ALL BLACK WOMEN THAT ROCK BLONDE HAIR ARE SELF HATERS AND ALL BLACK MEN THAT ONLY DATE LITE SKINNED WOMEN ARE SELF HATERS…and should I go on. If I was him wouldnt of amitted sh*t how man black women admit they rock weaves or tracks from other HUMANS???? my point exactly.
It wouldn’t sell out fast in Black Neighborhoods. One, it requires a prescription from a dermatologist. Two, most black people barely have insurance, let alone one that will get you to a good dermatologist. Three, most insurance will not pay for it. Lastly, Black people are not about to pay that kind of money of pocket for the pricely up keep of a cream. I still say the cream is a camouflage for the truth. It’s a skin whitening pill or more potent IV form of the pill. A cream is not going to lighten Sammy’s scalp without bleaching his hair. He’ll be out marketing a product and making $$$ on a lie because the unknowing population believes that it is an external cream alone that will do this. Please. I’m no fool. Don’t buy into the cream B.S. It means money for Sammy and he’s selling a lie! Only the secret skin-whitening pill will whiten skin from the inside out by shutting down the melanin pigmentation producing agent in the skin from head to toe: leaving one complete even skin color.
@ num1dominicano
Actually, Haiti used to be a top tourist attraction, that’s how we earned the title “Pearl of the Caribbean”. Unfortunately, poor and corrupt government leadership have caused us to lose that title. Therefore, we’re not a top tourist attraction because of government instability, not because we have issues with our race.
He has those fake-***** green contacts too.
@GET REAL
Here is my point…..most(not all)black people accept their skin color you don’t see a whole bunch of us walking around looking like Sammy Sosa or Michael Jackson despite bleaching cream being readily available. I get so tired of people singling out blacks when some of us choose to wear weaves, ponytails,etc,but it is totally acceptable when white people get tans, butt injections, lip injections, lipo, weave, nose jobs, braids, etc, etc, etc. When whites do it its self improvement but when other races do it its considered self hate???? I don’t know about you @Get Real but when I’m doing my hair and make-up I am not trying to look like a white person…..I like how I look. I’m not saying that some of us don’t have color issues but the large majority of us accept our skin color….just my opinion.
Please, oh, please tell me this isn’t true. He’s actually going to market a bleaching cream?!?:
Sammy Sosa joked on Tuesday about possibly marketing the skin lightening product that has caused an international stir.
Today the former Cubs slugger said he is not joking.
“If he feels it is of good quality, it may be something he will be endorsing and marketing in the United States in the near future,” said Rebecca Polihronis, the former Cubs community relations employee, who spoke on behalf of Sosa. Polihronis said Sosa told her today he is not yet prepared to release the name of the product.
@num1dominicano- your racism is blinding, only YOU can’t see it… Yeah, you explained ourself further, but Kigali was right on the money with this one…Sorry, you are just like the other Dominicans- “blk ***** Sammy”- who even talks like that? Other lightskinned Dominicans, DUH…Who still operate by caste system, just last week, you people beheaded a 40 year Haitian farmer, for being in your country…Yup, you talk about others, but yes, sir, I’ll be danged, if you’re not one of them…..
Anywho…@ get real- that might be true. As far as fake hair, but I have always embraced my heritage and background. I don’t buy false hair, I do get my hair relaxed, as it’s easier to manage. I wear tapered, precision cuts..And if I were to geta weave, it would be microbraids, or just plain braids, however, I would NEVER ligten or change my skin. I like who I am, just because you and others can’t accept it, that’s your problem, not mine…
Just more…
@ num1dominicano
a) Just so you know, even the whitest white man who was born and raised in Haiti will call himself black, and will be proud of it. Which is why, I cannot for the life of me understand why the darkest latinos/dominicans will never ever say that they are black.
b) A lot of Dominican women have been coming over to Haiti to marry rich Haitian men, or at least ones that are well off. There are just as many Dominicans living and working in Haiti, as there are Haitians in the Dominican Republic. I didn’t have to throw this one in, but your last comment hit a nerve.
@num1dominicano-”Actually, Haiti used to be a top tourist attraction, that’s how we earned the title “Pearl of the Caribbean”. even your nitwit comment about Haiti, shows who you really are and WHAT you really think….
you lightskinned dominicans are PROBABLY the reason that “blk ***** Sammy” bleached his skin in the first place and your looking down / self-hating behind doesn’t even see it…
BLIND LEADING THE BLIND…
not even conscious of your own self-hate issues…
And yeah, Sammy Sossa is officially an idiot!
he looks nothing short of a HOT ***** MESS
@bb-I completely disagree with your statement. so what if the Africans come and focus on education, etc. You people aren’t even aware of the extreme racism or prejudices, that whts and other nationalities hold against African. You guys kills me trying to make yourself above or better than, but are blk like us and are looked at the sme way they view African- AMericans. Only someone simple would think that you are any different…
Most of you are so out of place, you don’t even know when they are blatant with the discrimination…
I feel sorry for African / African-Americans, the prejudices that we have against each other, truly keeps the self-hatred issues going..
The sad part, you are not even aware of it. And for th reord, I see more and more Africans imitating or trying to be like blk Americans, more and more… So I don’t exactly understand what point you were trying to make…
WTF?! That’s a damn shame….
@ always knew
I agree with you. They are the reason he bleached his skin in the first place. Because I cannot for the life of me understand why this dude would try to change his looks after being in the spotlight for so long, and after so many achievements. That’s some deep rooted self hatred right there.
@db8t- “There are just as many Dominicans living and working in Haiti, as there are Haitians in the Dominican Republic. I didn’t have to throw this one in, but your last comment hit a nerve.”

he did hit a nerve. And I am a “african-american” female married to a haitian-american and I found the statements that you made in reference to Haiti, very offensive…Which further proves the poin I was making about you Dominican people being so messed up, YOU can’t even see it…
BTW: If the Dominicans are all that, then stay in your own country. You don’t need to come to this country if you are so much better than. Keep your confused light behind in the DR….
@always knew
“you lightskinned dominicans are PROBABLY the reason that “blk ***** Sammy” bleached his skin in the first place and your looking down / self-hating behind doesn’t even see it…”
I can only imagine what names Sosa was called if “black a**” is considered a term of endearment. SMH.
If anything, this shows just how widespread an issue colorism is — It certainly isn’t contained solely within the African-American community.
I never really beleived it was possible to bleach your skin like that. I am having second thoughts about MJ’s skin disease and a lot of more people who’s skin is much lighter. I know a lot of people are mad he let the cat out of the bag. I can imagine other people wanted people to think it’s a disease or the camera or sometimes I am tanned. Cut it out Hollywierd.
@DB8T,
“Just so you know, even the whitest white man who was born and raised in Haiti will call himself black, and will be proud of it. Which is why, I cannot for the life of me understand why the darkest latinos/dominicans will never ever say that they are black.”
It would be idiot for a white person in Haiti to refer to themselves as black. Haitian, yes. But, black? No. Its nonsensical. Black is a largely American term to designate black Americans from white Americans. Its a bit of a faux pas go on to use it for West Indians or Africans.
If I say am I black, what does that say about my identity? Very little. It doest tell you what country I come from, doesnt tell you what language I speak, doesnt tell you about my religion or my culture. It just says what skin color I am when I am so much more than my color. When everyone is more than their color.
@Always knew,
Why do you have to keep telling everyone you are married to a Haitian? We already know there are some dumb Haitians out there.
In a few years his face will be falling off too. Just like all the other “chop jobs” done. Man these *****s are stupid. The more money they get the dumber they get.
UP NEXT:
………… Kelly Roland
-Beyonce been on that skin ligtening crap too. She is of a lighter brown tone, BUT go back when she first came out vs. Now…… Big freaking difference in complextion.
@num1Domincano
It’s funny you talk down about Haiti.Are those cornrows I see in your head? Last time I heard dominicans were shucking, jiving, selling your ***** to the white tourist who come to crap in your country. Btw DR was taken over by Haiti at some point and ya’ll sold out to the Americans & Europeans to get us
out you cowards.Do you even know your history you mut? You guys are snitches and will sell your mother to be close to white folks.
Wow that is scary. He has totally changed the color of his skin. And the contacts? Come on Sammy, you’re freaking me out…
OMG! I just remembered something. Not too long ago, I was at the Dominican Hairdresser (LOL, but I’m an equal opportunity client). They had some Telenovela playing, and to my big surprise, the storyline was exactly what Sammy Sossa did. It was in spanish, and although I’m Haitian, I understand and speak spanish. Nevertheless, I was absolutely appaled to see something like this on TV in this day and age. Their target audience must have been little kids, and I’d hate to have to deal with those prejudices at that age.
The storyline went something like this…There was this adorable, absolutely adorable little black boy in a prep school who was in love with this little fair skinned girl. But, she didn’t like him because he was black, he tries to hit on her, but she repels his advance by saying he’s too black. So he goes to one of his fair skinned friends, and explains his dilemma. The friend decides to play a trick on him, and tells him to rub a cream on his face. The cream has no power, and the friend knows that, but he just wants to make a quick buck. So he tells the black boy that as soon as he puts the cream on his face that he will turn white. The little black falls for it, pays him money, happily rubs it on his face, and then proudly walks around the school as if he’d turned white. It’s not until he tries approaching the little girl again, and her obvious disgust of him, that he realizes he was taken in.
To make matters worse, I think that they were even playing next week’s episode when the little black boy put white powder on his face to become white.
So, ladies and gentlemen, this is what Sammy Sossa grew up on, and sadly enough, this is what a lot of little children are being raised to believe in this day and age. All you have to do is turn to a spanish tv station, even if you don’t understand it, watch for a few minutes, and you’ll see the disparity of black/afro latinos.
Sosa is a jack ***** for and he’s got to be so embarr*****ed for what he’s done to himself.
Lightening of skin tone is an OBVIOUS expression of the internalization of the “white is right” mentality — but it is just ONE expression.
How many of the effin’ people who come onto EVERY “swril” thread on this site, with the “n—s ain’t s—t” comments OVER, AND OVER again, will even acknowledge that THEY have the “Sosa Disease”?
Oh they probably haven’t bleached their skin nor donned those absurd green contacts — but their damn minds are as warped as his, and worse, it doesn’t show when you look at them, but oh when those putrid ideas of theirs are posted on this blog …..
@Always knew,
Why do you have to keep telling everyone you are married to a Haitian? We already know there are some dumb Haitians out there.

@ Kigali (Marriage before carriage)
I said “Black”, because that’s the closest translation of the French word that we use which encomp*****es heritage and pride in our race.
Nevertheless, it seems as thought the whole point of my comment flew over your head. My point is that we are proud of who we are and do not *****ociate negative connotations with being labeled as Black.
@DB8T
To be fair dark skinned people, especially dark skinned girls arent treated much better among American blacks either. I remember in school my brother and I, being brown skinned would har***** my dark skinned best friend while we har*****ed his light skinned best friend. It was interesting how, even as children we *****ociated emasculation and weakness to my brother’s best friend because he was light and male.
@Always knew,
I dont know too many people going around claiming that they are Haitian when they are not. I do know a lot of Haitians who claim they are French or Canadian. Anyway please dont rep Haiti. Youre a douche bag and WE DONT NEED YOU.
@Redbone_ etc.

This is soooo true. Just because they haven’t gotten their hands on the magic pill yet, doesnt mean they dont have the same issues. He’s rich and have better means of making his dream a reality (clearly, lol) but there are many blacks who aspire to the eurotrash standard of beauty. Just because your not bleaching your skin, doesnt make you any more proud to be black then soso’s newly pale azz.
I’ve seen soooo many black women rock blonde hair for more than just a hairstyle. I dont believe that crap. Mary J cant live without it.
especially the really light skinned ones, they really get to feel white. Skin is light and now blonde hair….. You cant tell them delousional sistas nothing.
smh
@DB8T
I think my comment may have flown over your head. You are only black in contrast to white but you are Haitian because you were born in HAiti, born to Haitian parents, speak Kreyol, etc etc etc. Haitian is a better identifier than black. If you are black, why not say you are Jamaican? They are black too.
Whites can be born in Haiti and Jamaica and be Haitians or Jamaica’s too. In the sense of the word. Putting black along with your “county” is even more identifing. I’m Black American. You know I’m a black person, sadly, from Amerikka, lol.
If I say I’m Jamaican, 9 times 10 I’m black but not nessarily. I’m black and could be born and raised in Germany…. I’m still black.
this post is interesting, alot of self hating people who regularly comment on bossip are now saying how wrong sammy is for doing that to his skin. the hypocracy is unbelievable, i will mention no names
@sexyprettysista
you can name names… f*ck them.
@ Kigali (Marriage before carriage)
I think we are both flying over each other’s head, lol.
Yes, being born in Haiti would make us all Haitians, but it’s a lot more than that. You’d have to understand the history of Haiti to know what I’m talking about. I don’t expect you to understand, nor will I chide you for not being able to.
I don’t think its any kind of self hate thing, I think some things people do to try to improve their skin have a whitening side effect.
Hmm dominicans trashing Haitians and vice versa, I was hoping this hate would’ve stopped. I grew up around these conversations and I always found them nonsensical, how is it that people who’s ancestors grew up on the same island as mine have such hatred for what most likely is their own people too.
Some Dominicans can hate me all they want and I might resent them for it but one thing is for certain, they can wash and blow dry my hair like it aint *****ody’s business.
this filtering on bossip is ridiculous, i said n o b o d y’s business, how is THAT curse word?

You are entitled to your opinion as I am entitled to mine
You do not have to interact with any Africans that is entirely your prerogative
Even if you do not want Africans in your country,you just have to lobby your government and tell them to stop the green card lottery scheme and the job opportunities
Everyone has criteria for feeling superior to others ,this is something that people need to remember when they decide to open up that kind of discussion
The Africans I know continue to strive for success and embrace their tradition and culture
Africans use Cl***** and background to differentiate,just like all other groups
There are Africans of a certain cl***** that might try and emulate the hiphop culture
I do not interact with such
I also have not had experience of people looking down on me. I treat people the same way I like to be treated
If I am disrespected I will put you in your place irrespective of color
I am a dual national,if things get to bad I can always relocate
I wrote C L A S S how is that a swear word

damn, i just wanna know how this escalated into a battle between Dominicans vs. “Blacks?” I thought we was talkin bout Sammy… Guess not. :/
damn, i just wanna know how this escalated into a battle between Dominicans vs. “Blacks?” I thought we was talkin bout Sammy… Guess not. :-/
@ bb
It’s the A S S in your word that got it censored.
The same thing happened when I wrote the words “A S S O C I A T E D” and “E N C O M P A S S”.
@DB8T
Obviously some have negative connotations about being black. That wasnt the point I was negating. I was negating the idea that blackness is any kind of meaningful identity when there are people who are black but have such different cultures, religions, language,s history, national origins etc.
Question, who do you identify more with, a white man born and raised in Haiti whose family goes back in Haiti a few generations or a black American person from Alabama? Thought so.
I dont have a problem understanding you. i just think you are wrong.
I see Sammy is still lying. Tell the whole truth Sammy! You knew what you were doing when you started. They should have showed you a pictured of how stupid you would look afterwards!
I THINK WE CAN ALL AGREE (HAITIANS, DOMINICANS, LATINOS, AFRICAN AMERICANS, ETC ETC…) THAT SAMMY SOSA IS STILL COLONIZED MENTALLY AND IS A SELL OUT FOR DESTROYING HIS COMPLEXION

I don’t have a problem with anyone who doesn’t have a problem with me. I made some disparaging reamrks, because I felt that he disrespected my husband’s country, who is also an Haitian… I don’t even understand what you are talking about…
I don’t dislike africans. I dislike stupid people, no matter what race, background, idealogy..
I don’t a have a problem with intelligent people. It;s just that on thread blog, it seems to be lacking..I don’t even know why you would state that I should lobby anybody, I was talking about that dominican jerk… a shame you internalized it, to mean all Africans.. Which suggests to me that you don’t comprehend too well..
none of what you said even applies to what I was speaking about…
that post was to bb..
And bb, not ALL Americans are into the hiphop lifestyle…That’s the beauty of America, you can do whatever you want to (within reason)..BUT you are in the Uk, right? I just thought the whole tone of your first post was very deferential, to African- Americans, like you have issues with us..And that’s why I called you on it. This is why there is division amongst all blks and thee shouldn’t be..Negative attitudes just because we share different latitude/ longitude That’s crazy, when we all wear the same skin…
I dk if you’ll ever get it, but I’m done. Have a good afternoon.
PEACE LOVE AND HAIRGREASE.
Sammy I don’t care how much loot you got you a damn Sellout….punk *****!
Poor *****… Yeah, I grew up with all types of people… Strangely, in almost all other cultures I can think of, there is this quiet self-loathing. Italians don’t really feel darker-skinned Italians, Dominicans and Haitians alike both (in my experience) seem to not understand they are essentially African, Ethiopians even, prefer and like *****ociating with lighter-skinned Ethiopians no matter how dark they are… Factoid: in no country besides Nigeria is the ruling cl***** (most influential and wealthy) composed of dark-skinned individuals. This fact allows strange manifestations like our friend Sammy to appear. For those with an I.Q. less than 105, that means these things are only results of years of discrimination, colonizations, and the white-man in general living on the backs of blacks. Other cool statistics you should know: out of the 36 million blacks that live in the U.S. (we’re 12% of the population), 6 million of us have college degrees. Great segway for my final statement; get your education my friends. Build your wealth, because knowledge leads to money and influence… Most importantly, money is also the great equalizer. Get your money up and all that other stuff is nonsense. Barack wears his hair natural, look at what that has gotten him. I’m just being chatty now… Ya’ll take care.
I don’t care what these crazy celebs do to their bodies! All I can say is when his face start falling apart don’t expect sympathy from me. And don’t write a book either!
WTF???? Did dude is looking crazy as HELL…SCARY
Sell out in Black Neighborhoods?? I highly dout that GET REAL, African Americans have come farther than that, they may Weave some Indian hair on their head but changing skin color I’m sure 90% would draw the line at that one, both are self-hatred issues but this is just plane SAD, Dominicans sayin their not BLACK but Dominican as if there is a race called DOMINICAN! lol Same SHIP DIFFERENT TRIP, same slave ship, different stop!
Dominican Republic was a slave country so that should explain a lot about the way they think. He is no different from Lil Kim and Michael Jackson.
Skin bleaching is prevalent all over the world, especially in some Asian countries. It is a billion dollar business in India where most of the brand name cosmetic corporations are making money hand over fist selling their products. Lighter skin equals money, cl***** and prestige in these countries. Poor, deluded Mr. Sousa is a product of his environment, it is his birth country that needs to change. They still are wallowing in the vestiges of slavery, where skin color meant freedom or bondage.
De Facto slavery ended in the Dominican Republic in 1844, but they are still mental slaves today.
@ Redbone, Darkbutt, etc.
“I don’t know why the same people who come on this blog and try to write one half of the black race out of humanity (“black men ain’t s—t” …. “black women are all (fill in the blank)”….), would then denigrate this guy.

AND

“But what really gets me is the Afro-Spanish Carribean sector who thinks because they speak a different language other than english, they are not black.”
International people from all over THE WORLD kill me when they CLEARLY look like they have African descent but VEHEMENTLY deny it (MANY Hispanics, Asians, Arabs, etc.). We AAs and other people of the African diaspora in this part of the world are the evidence that MANY of those “non-black” people on the other side of the globe are of African descent. We live MILES away from Africa, and they live RIGHT NEXT DOOR. When I look at you (Arab, Indian, SE Asian, whatever) and I see someone I know in the AA or Hispanic (PR, Dominican, Brazilian, etc.) communities, I KNOW you have BLACK BLOOD. Get over your SELF-HATRED and STOP LYING ABOUT IT!
@ a black man ~ I’m American and have never used those names. It’s no better to categorize all Americans into haters, which most aren’t.
Truthfully, I’m part Native American and wish my skin were the dark brown that I was as a child. Unfortunately, a condition has lightened my skin and that saddens me because I’m not willing to tan in the sun to try to obtain it once again.
If Sammy is happy, so be it, but it’s sad that he feels he needs to change his skin to lighter to be happy.
A-LA- PEANUT BUTTER SANDWICHES!!!!!
@ white male
“I think some things people do to try to improve their skin have a whitening side effect.”
Ok. Is the “whitening” TRULY the “side effect” or is it the “improvement”?
[just a joke--lol]
HAHAHAHAHA… DAMN,, I STILL CANT GET OVER THIS NEGRO BLEACHING HIS SKIN……I’M DYIN OVER HERE..HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
WHAT AN UNCLE TOM…DOMINICAN AKA NEGRO SPEAKIN SPANISH….WHAT A TOOL.
South East Asians are not of African orgin yet they bleach their skin white. The people of brazil are not Hispanic and they are very proud of their African ancestry. Although the European Brazilians run the country, the Afro Brazilians and Pardo people set the cultural standards of Brazil. The slaves of Brazil were allowed to keep their culture and traditions and it is still going strong today. The Dominicans have probably never learned the truth about their history. They were sold, traded by the Spanish people for centuries.
This is so sad.
@the real B.I.Z
You are clearly intelligent and insightful
My friend is Dominican and Puerto Rican I have never thought of her as being black neither has she. She is very dark with long wavy hair and I’ve always thoght she was cosidered spanish. When I went a party at her home her grandmother started speaking fluent spanish to me. Her mother had to step in to tell her I was black because she thought I was Dominican and I dont have the straight or wavy hair. If you saw me you would know Iwas 100% black lol.
i love how he tried to cover it up by saying its a rejuvenating procedure GTFOH.
I WANNA KNOW WTF IS PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT DOMINICANS WHEN THEY ARE NOT EVEN DOMINICAN. I’M 100% DOMINICAN AND I CAN TELL YOU WE ARE PROUD OF WHO WE ARE…HOW DARE YA SAY DOMINICANS HAVE THE BIGGEST SKIN COMPLEXION ISSUES WHEN BLACK PEOPLE HAD MADE “LIGHT SKIN” A TREND. SOME BLACK MEN DON’T EVEN DATE BLACK WOMEN CAUSE THEY CLAIM “THEY LIKE LIGHT SKINNED WOMEN”….WASN’T THIS ALSO A BIG ISSUE IN MUSIC VIDEOS? RAPPERS DIDN’T WANT DARK SKIN MODELS? SO BEFORE YA START TALKING ABOUT DOMINICANS HAVING ISSUE PLEASE LOOK INTO YOUR OWN CULTURES. CAUSE I’M PRETTY SURE YA SEE A LOT OF DARK SKIN WOMEN USING BLEACHING CREAMS AND DYEING THEIR HAIR BLONDE.WE SEE IT ALL THE TIME! SO PLEASE GET BACK INTO REALITY PEOPLE.
NOW I MUST SAY WHAT SAMMY IS DOING IS DEFINITELY ODD AND TRUST ME NO DOMINICAN OUT THERE IS APPLAUDING HIM FOR THIS.
@ David Ortiz
UMM CORRECTION BRAZILIANS ARE CONSIDERED HISPANIC! DAMN PEOPLE DEFINITELY DON’T HAVE A PROPER EDUCATION ON THIS WEBSITE. AT LEAST SOME PEOPLE WHO COMMENT ON HERE.
@ David Ortiz
I’ve seen SE Asians who CLEARLY (to me) look like people of African descent (that doesn’t mean “jet black/negroid”, just that they have characteristics in common w/people who are KNOWN members of the African diaspora. The Arab Muslim slave trade of Africans sent Africans to Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, so it’s not “unfathomable” that there would be blending). Please explain the differences b/t the terms “Chicano, Latino, Hispanic, etc.” I tried to have a Dominican friend explain it, but she tried to act like it was nothing. But, I could tell from her demeanor that it was. I don’t understand it. Do you say that Brazilians aren’t “Hispanic” b/c they speak Portuguese? Please enlighten.
@ pynklyzurd14 THE ISSUE HUN IS THAT AS YOU CAN SEE PEOPLE WANT TO TALK ABOUT DOMINICANS AND THEY DONT EVEN TAKE THE TIME TO LOOK INTO THEIR OWN CULTURES…..I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST BLACKS; ACTUALLY THATS ALL I HANG OUT WITH. AND ATLEAST MY FRIENDS KNOW THAT SKIN BLEACHING IS BAD NO MATTER WHAT …POINT BLANK AND THAT IT DOESNT MATTER IF ITS A DOMINICAN DOING IT OR A BLACK PERSON DOING IT. SO BRINGING THE “HISTORY” OF MY COUNTRY IS IRRELEVANT.

It has gotten a bit embarr*****ing to be black. Whitening is less drastic than suicide, so I’d give Sammy a p*****.
If Sammy would rather be white, the difficult part comes first: you have to become less black on the inside. Achieve that, and you seem less black in people’s eyes without such a glaring exterior alteration.
I imagine that color prejudice must be much more normal in Latin culture (it certainly was in Spain when I visited), with much less apology than you find in Anglo culture (at least among those who want to seem fair-minded). Now that he is no longer an active athlete, Sammy may have lost some of his insulation from the ordinary insults of caste that a black Latino has to live with.
It’s difficult for anyone to one day wake up and see himself as the larger world sees him: member of a despised and irredeemable race (wretched of the earth, indeed). It has unbalanced stronger people than Sammy Sosa. There is something naive about wanting to erase the stain of one’s race, as one sees it. But the real blemish isn’t exterior: it’s the mental habits, the chartered behavior of negritude that has to be erased before anyone who’s not black can see past the external difference of dark skin.
Black people in the public eye have to have an acute sense of just how much inner negritude they’re projecting. Too much is toxic; too little produces confusion about their identity (q.v., Rashida Jones, Maya Rudolph). Beyonce will probably never get beyond that last threshold of exoticism that, say, Paula Patton crosses effortlessly. But she’s still nice looking in caramel.
broken english speaking mothafu*ker wanna deny the ***** earlier and pull m.j into the process by taking a stab at a dead mans skintone, sit down you self hating coon i guess that bleach cream changed your eye color 2 lol ***** sit down!

@ scooby dubious
Bossip won’t let me post my response to your comment. But, I think “coloreds” need to look “inward” to solve these problems more than “outward”.
Sammy looks like raw chicken..Man the black man hates himself..Blacker the berry sweeter the juice…
Willie Lynch is still into effect today..As prophesied..
@ Janae i agree 100%

He looks like the black dracula for real yo!
sorry sammy you looked better dark and sexy.
His bleaching his skin to “look” european is no different than any culture giving up its ancestral traditions and beliefs to accept a new religion forced upon them buy those that enslaved them….and I’m talking about ALL ethnic groups that had to forsake their beliefs to keep from being murdered by those that had taken power.
He looks like Ricki Ricardo with a major dash of Herman Munster, and with a splash of Clay Face from Batman.
Sad, Sad, Sad. SMH
I STILL CANT BELIEVE THIS IS HIM, THIS HAS TO BE A DOUBLE OR HE HAD TO HAVE DONE SOMETHING ELSE TO HIMSELF. EVEN HIS HAIR IS SLICK. WHAT IN THE HELL MADE HIM DO THIS TO HIMSELF… HE LOOKS RIDICULOUS!!!!

Agreed! I was just thinking the same thing! INTRA-racism is just as bad as INTER-racism. If Sammy has so much self-hatred for himself, who pushed him? Sammy doesn’t even looks like himself, he’s at least 5 shades lighter than what I recall him originally being.
N—A look like count Dracula! Blah Blah Blah!
I’m disgusted with you Sammy.
I LOVE HOW BOSSIP NEVER INCLUDES COMPLETE INFO……HE ALSO SAIS IN THE INTERVIEW HE WILL BE SELLING THIS CREAM…..SO SOUNDS TO ME LIKE THIS IS ALL PUBLICITY FOR HIS SO CALLED CREAM.
@ Kigali
So what about the Chinese, Syrian, Indian, White JAMAICANS? They can’t say they are Jamaican because they are not black??? Our motto here is out of many one ppl.. Jamaican is not a race..it’s a nationality. Just because someone says they are Jamaican, doesn’t mean they are black. Myself included. You will be surprise how many Chinese people call themselves Jamaicans before anything else. This applies to the other islands as well.
HE LOOKS LIKE THAT CHARACTER IN THE MASK LOL
He looks ridiculous.
You can’t bleach away your heritage. You can change the outside but the inside is as Dominican as ever. He needs to work on the inside because that’s truly what he should find ugly. Sorry he has such a inferiority complex.
i will definatly give it a try
