A former backup singer for the Pied Pedo was all sobs at the trial yesterday as she described introducing Kells to the chick in the sex tape when the girl was a mere 12 or 13:
“‘He liked her spirit. She was a very jolly person,’ said Stephanie Edwards. The victim is a relative of hers, Edwards said. She also leaned forward and identified the Grammy winner as the man she saw on the sex tape at the center of the trial.
‘You know your blood….You just know your family,’ she said.”

I read on Slate that the alleged victim’s aunt ( who is a police officer) testified that she saw the tape about two months before it was handed over to the police by a reporter,and that her ex-husband didn’t know how the alledged victim was.
I would have thought the prosecution would have done a better job preparing their witnesses especially since they had six years. LOL
I wonder if the prosecution is going to call the alleged victim to the stand and treat her as a hostile witness. Maybe threaten her with perjury.

The defense wasted no time in pointing this out too. They asked her about royalty checks, and she said she hadn’t been paid and was forbidden to record under another label.

I always knew there was something strange about this man. I was never a fan of his music, but I will admit he writes wonderful songs for other artists. And they had to wait for the girl in the tape to be ID’ed (sorry, not sure how to spell that) before they could start to build their case to bring him to trial. Supposedly her family and everyone around them tried to hide it was her when they figured it out so nothing would happened to her.
What’s sad is I work in media event sales and promotion and here Texas and have heard people that work at radio stations or concert promotions talk about how he always chooses the youngest and most innocent looking girls at parties and befriends them, brings them backstage to “show them around”. This is nothing new, and I agree with someone who posted earlier: there are families who put their daughters out there for him, someone needs to go after them, too.

From the article I read the uncle couldn’t remember his own age or his son’s date of birth and said that the girl looked to be 14. It just strikes me as odd that no one can say exactly how old this girl was on the video. Besides there is a big range in which the prosecution said the tape was made. If I were on the jury it would seem that they should at least be able to get this girl’s birth certificate and give a better date that the tape was made.

Sparkle claims the child was her niece and that she is currently 24 (on Ent. Tonight). Speculatators have said that the sexual tape was made in 2000 or 2001. I am the same age as this “sexual victim” and in 2001 I turned 18! Soooo, if prosecuters said this tape was made with a child at 14 or 15, there’s no way this could’ve happened in 2000 or 2001. SEE. CONFLICTING INFORMATION!!!

I’m sorry but putting Sparkle on the stand hurts the prosecution’s case. She is not a credible witness because there is too much business and personal beef between her and R. Kelly. Even his brother, who is supposed to testify saying that R. Kelly paid him to say it was him in the tape and not R. Kelly, has some business and personal beef too. A lot of these “witnesses” have benefitted financially from R. Kelly in the past, and the defense can flip the script to say that they are all out for revenge because their relationships have turned sour. Sorry, but I’m still not seeing a strong case yet.

The point still stands that the prosecution should have practiced with their witnesses and since they are using them to identify the girl they should have expected that the defense would have asked them how old the girl was or the prosecution witnesses should have been able to work it into their testimony.
