Saw the story last night. She’s in Cleveland so I remember when the story first broke 2 years ago. She looks a bit better than the picture posted though (thank God) due to reconstructive surgeries. I also have a lot of respect for her as she is trying to change laws and encourage girls to leave abusive relationships.

Shooting women is a fairly common type of revenge for abusers. This poor girl has suffered tremendously, but at the risk of sounding unsympathetic, she looks better than any other such shooting survivor I’ve ever seen. I’m not making like of her situation at all but I’ve seen so much worse. There’s this black woman in Texas whose ex-boyfriend shot her in the face and now she basically doesn’t HAVE a face.

This kind of violence is common and terrifying. It’s odd how when some crazy, violent men are spurned they go for the woman’s face. Some men use acid, some use a knife, and others use a gun.

I know most men are not crazy and violent but I’m super cautious when it comes to men. Unlike some women I don’t want a man that’s “crazy” about me or is jealous and possessive. I prefer to keep it casual for quite a while to get a better understanding of who the man really is. It’s quite easy for some women, especially young women, to unknowingly get caught up with a violent fool and live to regret it. Or not. Stories like this terrify me.

The other thing is that this girl is gonna have to think of that night for the rest of her life!! I mean the flash of the muzzle, the hot pellets searing her flesh, and the worst part….Knowing that someone she once cared for could sttoop to such evil!!! There is truly a special place in hell reserved for people who abuse those who are weaker than themselves….And this child had her whole life ahead of her, only to be raped at knifepoint, and shot in the face with a shotgun….I hope he rots for eternity!!!

i saw this last night, too. this poor girl has been through so much in her short life. did anyone else see that her father was killed in a car accident two days after her mothers funeral in 2002? how sad is that??? and then this BEAST rapes her and shoots her because he was arrested for it. how could he be under house arrest and the police knew he wasn’t at home but *****ody warned this girl??? this could have been prevented.

I saw this lastnight and it brought tears to my eyes. That is so sad and I do believe he was remorseful after it happened. Sometimes love is a drug and it’s sad he couldn’t let go. Someone did let her know that he was out but she didn’t think nothing would happen. Also, if he was on house arrest why didn’t he have on an ankle monitor. I’m still a Chris Brown and Rihanna supporter, he never once denied what he did was right or made any type of excuses. He told everyone that’s not the man he wants to be. He tried to reaching out for help, but all people wants to do is turn their back and talk negative instead of saying this young man really needs help and offering him words of encouragement. He is very remorseful for what he did, he is not walking around dissing Rihanna and saying she got what she deserve, no this kid is trying to better himself and help other young man so they want make the same mistake he did. He has taken the responsible for his action and he’s trying to become a better man so that he will not be the man he was before. And yes I do believe with the right help anyone can change. If someone had reach out to this young man and young woman this situation could have been prevented. All everyone wants to do is hate these people not knowing that they are victims also. Turning your back is the wrong thing to do. THIS WORLD IS SO FULL OF HATE!!!

In Rhianna’s 20/20 interview, it was revealed that CB had smashed her car window & shoved her against a wall (to the point that the police were called on both occasions) prior to beating her that fateful night. That being said, where does the abuser draw the line? How can the victim truly draw the line when they’ve been literally terrorized? Be it yelling, shaking, shoving, rape,har*****ment, etc.They are all methods of intimidation used to control. This face could have been Rhianna’s if CB just happened to be armed at the time he “blacked out.”
It takes more than apologies and remorse to move to a place of healthy interaction. Love is demonstrated by trustworthy & respectful behavior. And, oftentimes, the abuser is so far gone, they will say or do anything to just sweep it under the rug and keep the abusive relationship going.
I’m glad BOSSIP printed this article, but I know it changes nothing for women and men who are determined to see this as an isolated occurrence–something to compartmentalize as an anomaly and not take to heart as we see our loved ones going down similar paths.

I think many men realize that a high societal value is placed upon a woman’s exterior, so, in order to hurt her as deeply as they can, that’s the part they attack. She has to live with the disfigurement for the rest of her life — every time she looks into a mirror, she is reminded of what she survived. This was an act of pure evil.

I support both Chris and Rihanna separately. I have never (thank god) been in an abusive relationship. It takes two weak minded people to stay in an abusive relationship. They both lack the proper attention young people need at their age. He has issue with abuse – she has issue with abuse. CB witness his parents in an abusive relationship…and Rihanna has issues with keeping her hands to herself (bottle over her brother’s head) They both are equally responsible for this situation. Thats how I see. I equally wish them much success and walk away learning from this situation.

What happend was tragic and wrong. But this in no way is the same as the chris brown insiddent. I doubth Chris Brown was going to shoot Rihanna. There sittuation was domestic abuse, this situation is far from that, this is beyond even that and goes to a stage of obsession. In Chris Brown case it seemed based on Eye Witness that she was the jealouse one, not that she didnt have the right to be, but in This case the guy was the obsessive type and was having that “if I cant’ be with you, then no one will” type of spyco attitude. Its clear that this dude is extremely spyco. Chris Brown on the other hand was just an idiot who should of known better. Especially since his life and hers is in the media spotlight every day.

Not trying to make light of this story but this is why I still clear of Latino men. While I am not saying that every race doesn’t have men that are very possessive or abusive, Latino men seem to be overly possessive about their women. Unfortunately some women think its cute when their men are possessive and jealous, this is not cute and could actually be a prelude to something much more darker and sinister.

I don’t think teenagers are emotionally ready to handle a serious, long term relationship. Even one of the teachers mentioned that they were the ideal couple and that may have been the case–as far as on the surface.

I have a teenage son and there are always girls around him. I try to tell him to keep it platonic and don’t get too involved or committed. He needs to concentrate on his grades and his sports. Girls will come in time.

That’s another reason I like group outings instead of “dates.”

This is so sad,that is why as a parent we need to teach our young teenagers that it’s not ok if a man talks to you any type of way and it’s not ok if he hits you.I think if the parents were to be more involved then there wouldn’t be as much domestic abuse in these young relationships.Ppl on here say we shouldn’t let children date if under the age,they are going to sneak anyway.You can’t stop teenagers from dating or what not but you can sit down and have a heart to heart and make your daughter/son feel more comfortable about talking to you about it.As a parent you should stress to your children that it’s not ok to be an abuser or the victim of abuse bc before you know it you just might get a phone call from the pd asking you to come identify your childs body due to domestic violence and it’s sad.

i am in awe of her strenght. and i am proud of rhianna for leaving her abusive relationship. but i must say these young woman need to get out of these relationship as soon as the abuse happens or even better when they get those warning signs that ever abuse man give off early on. i mean the first time he hits you ladies we should leave then if we take them back that just shows the man that i can do whatever i want she wont leave no matter what. it gives him the permission to hit us he may say im sorry and i will never do it again but if he does it once he will do it again please believe me.
i had a freind that got beat by her boyfriend in her car then he threw her out and left her on the street like she was nothing. not 3 days later she was calling him with a gift like she did something wrong. this is where i get irratated with the situation if a man treats you like you are nothing and you still go back go him who is at fault for future abuse. i think both. woman we need to know that were are worth so much more than this treatment. i was in an emotionally abuse relationship and i left it i couldnt take it that long woman need to learn their self worth. and this is just not abuse situations. this could also be just not being appreciated by their men or taken advantage of. as for chris brown and rhianna there were men beating their woman way!! before chris brown was even born and there will be men that beat their woman way!! after chris brown is dead in the ground to blame him for every abuse case isnt fare instead we need to get these men help and unfortunatly prison aint the answer they will just come out worst then when they went in. they need therapy as well as the woman in the abusive relationships so that they can break the cycle and find good men who will respect, love and cherish them.

To say, he looks violent because he looks like Chris is crazy. Abusers come in all races and genders. At least, Chris is getting help. That’s all he can do. Take responsibility and get help. As women we need to take responsibility also, you need to leave at the first sign of abuse. Period. Women stop hitting men and thinking it’s ok because you are a woman. Where are the parents? Parents are supposed to talk to their children about dating and the emotiona; side of it…and how kids should not be allowed to date this seriously? No person should feel like “your everything” at the age of 17.

B women also don’t deserve to be beat up or shot like this and the perps (celebrities or non celebrities) should be in prison for this. Rihanna wasnt trying to get out of the car! didnt u watch her interview. she just wanted it all to stop. She didnt do anything. Plus Chris did not rape her before, he didnt not hit her before or after. Even when she went back to him, he didnt abused then. This incident was his first violent offence. whereas this dude hit his girl before and many times. Plus this girl has never hit her man. On the other hand, Rihanna actually punched and slaped chris. Two different situations, you cannot compare all abuse cases and treat it the same. But ur right about both cases are abuse.
