Wale, Drake and Kid Cudi made the cut for GQ’s 2009 Man of the Year issue. Kid Cudi is definitely an underdog on the rise, Wale is also on the come up and Drake did take over but…

What is Wrong with This Picture???

According to GQ, these three dudes have come in and murdered Gangsta Hip-Hop. Really???

GQ: Have you been listening to hip-hop this year/ If not, we’ve got good news: The gangster persona is finally dead, and these are the kids who killed it. One song at a time, they build a new era in which duct-taped kilos, exotic firearms, and freaky girls are out and real life is the focus. That can still mean trumped-up egos and battle raps, but it also means family drama, vicious hangovers, and regular chicks who will make good love to you, then stomp out your heart. (Weed? Weed is always in. ) Wale is as famous for his live shows as for the slick-witted lyricism of his debut Attention Deficit. Kid Cudi is the cut up who scored with the stoner anthem “Day N Nite” and his album Man on the Moon. And then there’s Drake, who found himself turning down multimillion-dollar offers after his single “Best I Ever Had” exploded. (It helps that the girls like Drake. A lot.) Drake’s debut, Thank Me Later, is easily the most anticipated album of 2010.

So what do these underdogs think about being cast as gangster slayers? “The dope boy is going to be a fixture of black culture as long as ‘thug’ is a legitimate option alongside ‘job,’” Drake says. “But I’m not going to rap about how much crack I’ve sold.” Cudi also laughs at the idea of talking tough. “Anybody from Cleveland will tell you I wasn’t in the streets,” he says. “Ask them, They’ll say. ‘Scott was the goofy class clown.’ “

Do you feel that any of these dudes have the power to really rise up and kill gangster hip hop… Honestly??? and if they do, what does that mean for people like Rick Ross, Lil Wayne , 50 Cent etc. These guys and more are still selling plenty of albums just off of the ‘thug’ mentality.

GOOD! Maybe they can be a better influence than Lil Wayne teaching all the kids to get 1000 tattoos making it even harder for their already illiterate *****es to get jobs. Not to mention they may inspire a more clean cut look. I can’t take that beached crackhead lookin Lil Wayne anymore who always looks like he just washed up on somebody’s bed-bug ridden couch w/ a week old hangover.

I thought “gangsta rap” died a long time ago??? no??? Oh well I was never into that so I wouldn’t know…but I DO like the fact that these mean dress like they have sense and rap about things they are actually doing or saying “I wish”…Like “I wish I F*ck every girl n the world”….I mean wanting to sex every girl is better than killing every1, selling and/or doing drugs! (other than weed! lol)…they walk a fine line…I don’t think their great influences but they are A LOT better than what we’ve seen…who is wale???

Although I don’t get into their music, Wayne and 50 must be realizing what this article is trying to say. Why else would Wayne be featured on defferent generes of musicians the past couple of years? Why else would 50 expand into radio/clothing/Vitamin Water (which in my area, mostly white folks buy)
