Education and forward progression is the only way out of this mess. You don’t own anything that appreciates and you can not hold an intelligent conversation without stumbling and mumbling over your words and using profanity.

When will we ever understand this? Parental blame is also the result of these young men’s actions in addition to enviornmental factors. PARENTS TALK WITH YOUR CHILDREN EVERYDAY!!! THEY NEED YOU MORE THAN ANYONE, STOP LETTING THINGS SLIDE AND TAKE CARE OF YOU DAMN KIDS!!!!! MAKE SURE THEY ARE OKAY AND THAT THEY BECOME LEADERS NOT FOLLOWERS. THIS IS SO DAMN SAD, UGHHH!!!! Now these are minors who should be sentenced to life without parole. These types of kids are the lowest level of life on earth and there is no rehabilitation possible for fools like this. Just lock them up and pray for their souls.

I sure hope that girl pulls through and recover with minimum damage. All the grown ups should have the book thrown at them. On the other hand, actually, I pity the 16 year old fool who was probably bullied and forced into that gang that is made up of grown men with him being the only minor. He looks like a kid who’s in shocked and never intended for any of it to happen. I blame the parent(s) who refuse to leave the hood or inner city where there children have to battle bullies to stay out of the gang. I say if you have children, move away from the inner city, but work in the city if you have too. I’ve never been exposed to gangs, nor has my children or their father. I realize the gang members are like a disease that need to be eradicated. It first start with trying to give your kids a better environment where they can grow up and be kids without having to deal with gangs walking home from school. For instance, there are decent areas on Long Island that are family friendly.

He may or may not be guilty, but I don’t understand why the name and photo of a minor who is a suspect in a crime is being published. They are always doing that in NYC and it is always a Black or Latino child.

I hope they don’t put that young boy into GP with adults. They’ll really put those lips of his to use.

do you not see that this child is 16? look at the ages of ALL of them. this is learned behavior. he didnt just wake up one day, grab a gun, and become a killer. he does not need to rot in jail for the rest of his life. he needs someone to show him love and guidance. he must face punishment, thats evident but locking him up and throwing away the key of throwing away his life and at this age that should not happen. its sad that the little girl was a given but we, the ppl of these communities, must take some responsibility and stop acting as if all of these individual incidents only affect the parties involved when in reality it affects our neighborhoods in a whole. where are his parents? where are his role models? did he have anyone in his life to teach him how to be a real man. probably not bc it seems the majority of young black men have no idea of what a real man is. they think the clothes, money, and thug mindset = being a man. the differenec between some1 that wears skinny jeans and a back pack and some1 that walks around looking like their going to rob you. str8 up ignorance bc none of this has anything to do with being a real man. but what do you expect? who do they have to look up to? look around these poor neighborhoods? what do you see? no one is trying to uplift themselves in a positive way, everyone is just trying to “get by”. we’d rather hustle on the corner for life than read a few books for a few yrs and live a decent life. the crap has become so acceptable that its depressing. i see all of this happen and just think is there anything i can do and i draw a blank. i wish i could mentor some of our youthor something. i just dont know how to go about it but its time for us, the adults, to stop with the pettiness, all the judgment, disrespect of one another, talking down about each other. this is the atmosphere we’re bringing these kids up in. its our responsibility to complain to these radio stations that are playing music thats not radio friendly..to complain to these tv stations that are suppose to showing content thats kid friendly but is not. no child should be worried about sex, or guns, or any of that crap. we show them too much, they’re growing up entirely too fast, but worst of all many of them just dont have parents. they dont have anyone. maybe a grandparent thats too old to handle them. its truly depressing to see us in this state thinkgin about what our parents and grand parents went thru so we can be free today. somehow the result has equalled a generation that will not fight for anything. just complain and imps take over. what can we do besides search for a way to exact revenge? how can this cycle stop? so many questions but no answers….

I was reading the paper this morning and there is a little more to this story. The young girl who was shot, Vada Vasquez, was walking with a friend who was the real target. Her friends brothers are locked up awaiting a murder trial (they are only 19 & 20) and got into an altercation w/ the shooters brother so he sent word out for retaliation. I do not know what this world is coming to… And w/ the other story I just read about the 15 year old murdering her neighbor because ” she wanted to know how it feels to kill” SMH

Wow, I really cant believe these pics are posted. I cant believe that ANY site posted them. Regardless of what they are accused of, they are minors and this ish is infringing on their rights, never mind breaking basic laws about age.

Its terrible what happened to Vada, and i hope she fully recovers, but i would hate to see more little kids damaged because of the media painting the situation in a certain light. This could be one of those things were we find out in 30 yrs that the person serving time didnt actually commit the crime…

Innocent until proven guilty. I pray the little girl makes it out ok…..However its ashame because you tell the parents to take care of their children, how do you think they got this way? So if you know better don’t be so selfish and give a helping hand in your community we all are the blame. Life has gotten so bad and blame it on the selfishness, greed, envy and we need to give our kids some hope and stop making up excuses for all our f*ck ups. blame it on the parents, i agree but thats not going fix a thing. its a cycle that continues to grow unless we all step up and stop giving in and tolerating all the nonsense.
