Janet recently signed back with A&M Records, her old label home, and she is hoping that the second time around will be better.
New Video and Details Under the Hood
Janet originally signed with them when she was 16 years old and A&M is hoping that the reunion will allow them to show the world how great Janet was and still is. A&M exec Jimmy Iovine has tapped music producer Rodney Jerkins to oversee production on Janet’s upcoming album. The CD, which is in the early stages of recording, is expected to drop sometime in 2010.

Goodluck JJ, but personally for me, I cannot listen to anything bar Micehal Jackson.
I do not care what artist is related to him or not, I can onlt accept his music in my house at the MO, everyone else pales in comparison and his death has been eye opening to see how many second rate music artist are really out there.
If anyone has watched the This is it film, isnt just puzzling to see a 50 year old who apparently is meant to be perserving himself for hs concert and going through dry runs, preforming, singing and dancing so well.
Not to mention as sharp as a pin and knows EXACTLY what he wants in terms of music direction to simmer up to his dancing!
His voice at times sounded like smooth velvet and his dancing was so fluid it was mind blowing!
Favourite bit of the film was MJ encouraging that girl on the guitar to take her moment and shine, and him really pushing her to really hit notes high on her guitar, that was really touching!

*sigh* I love me some Janet starting way back in the “Penny” days on the show “GoodTimes”, but this song is just terrible along with the video from the outfits, to the 90s dancing. I wonder if she got with a producer such as Swizz or The Dream or Ne Yo all I am not really a fan of, but they can make some nice songs w/good up to date beats. She can still be herself per se lyrics wise, but with a different musical arrangement. Nonetheless, the woman has long money.

The song is definately a 90s song and i think she did it on purpose to go along with her #1 songs on her new album. i dont think it was made to be a number chart topper. I like the bit when she sings ‘don’t stop til you get enough’, it’s like a little dedication to Michael. That made me smile.

Have to agree, lets get this straight I had Janet Jackson plastered all over my bedrrom wall when I was a kid. The fact that she has this hugh public sympathy for her over her brothers death, I think she wasted this opportunity to make the impact she could have made.
This song is very boring and paper weight, and is the answer to why she has been struggling for the last 6 years, she needs something else in terms of her musical career. Maybe she does need to turn to the black female artist who have copied her and twisted up her style. Nothing wrong in turning for help, even M.Jackson done that now and then and was willing to work with many people.

If she is just doing it to get back to work and heal, then this is fine. If she is trying to climb back to the top of the charts then this aint gonna get it. This would have been perfect on the All For You album or one of its predecessors, but it is just too dated. Control, her self-titled LP, and Velvet Rope were great because of the vulnerability she showed. Mindless dance tracks have never served her well. Anyhoot, maybe she should focus on acting until she is ready to tackle TODAY’s pop music.

I’m really torn on this one. On one hand its the Janet we know and love and we want to see more of this from her on the other hand the music is still outdated. This song is pop & catchy but adolescent, the video concept is cl*****ic but doesn’t fit the song’s “all for me” vibe which was playful and fun.
On one hand I don’t ever want Janet to retire but if she is going to spend the rest of her career trying to find herself and connect with her audience again I say give it up. I think one of her main problems now is the carefully guarded personality and life she has lived has left her music kind of hollow and superficial and she can’t reveal herself or her struggles enough in her lyrics or music to connect to us who are out here in the real world.
She needs to face it, if she is going to try to be totally pop/r&b/hip-hop then she needs to be true to the game like Mariah is. As old and butterfly princess as Mariah is she knows what her audience expects of her and she keeps doing the same type music & image over and over again like she’s trapped in a time capsule. Mariah is all unicorns & kittens but her songs have lyrics that young ppl can relate to and she always goes for the current gutter rapper of the moment to tie it all together. She knows her success formula and Janet needs to go back to hers and update it.

People have gotten so “sexed up” with looks that they tend to forget what real music is like. Nor is she trying to capitalize on her brothers death. Janet never left the game she just didn’t have adequate representation because she entrusted her career to Jermaine Dupree – who was more interested in Janet the woman then Janet the artist.
Also, Janet has been making movies (Why did I get Married and Married Too) so it wasn’t all about the music 24-7. She has always expanded her horizons; her talent – with her clothes on. No female / male artist (except Michael) has ever gotten a bigger music contract than Janet. If she never works another day in her life – she is ok.
