Is Tyra becoming a brand name a reflection on society becoming very mediocre? I mean Oprah didn’t come around until the mid 90’s from doing Springer like TV and doing more positive shows (though I attribute that to hitting the billion mark). I don’t know, she’s going to make her money, I just take can’t her seriously. She’s like reality TV– very disposable. she’s like that movie the Truman Show, the minute she goes off, she’s forgettable. Maybe it’s just me.

No rusty, I feel you 100% on your post. Tyra being compared to Oprah and Martha Stewart is mind blowing. What exactly has Tyra done other than try to make her glaring insecurities everyone else’s insecurities.
Tyra is all about “empowerment” as long as she is the best in the room. She never stresses the seriousness of an education because she does not have one. Did anyone see her State of the black woman union, or whatever that mess was? All superficial and meaningless.
To me, her popularity is like the pretty and popular girl in highschool–people fawn all over her because they want her acceptance, they want to be liked by her. However, instead of using her power to empower, she uses it as a platform to toot her mediocrity.
It is a sign of the times. Instead of work on your shortcoming, join a group that accepts them, and then turn around and discriminate against those who challenge you to be and do better.
So, yes, I hate Tyra. I really do.

Naomi Campbell charged in London `rage’ incident
Naomi Campbell has been charged with *****aulting two police officers during a “luggage rage” incident at Heathrow Airport, her lawyer and prosecutors said Thursday.
The 38-year-old supermodel was charged when she reported to Heathrow police station to answer bail over the April 3 fracas, lawyer Simon Nicholls said.
The Crown Prosecution Service said Campbell faced five charges — three counts of *****aulting a constable, one count of disorderly conduct and one count of using threatening, abusive words or behavior to the crew of the airplane. Police said the *****ault charges related to two officers.
Campbell was ordered to appear at a west London magistrates’ court June 20.
Witnesses said Campbell was aboard a British Airways plane due to take off for Los Angeles when she became involved in a dispute over her luggage. Tens of thousands of bags had been separated from their owners at Heathrow’s Terminal 5 after its chaotic opening in late March.
Campbell was removed from the plane and held for eight hours at the airport police station before being released on bail.
She arrived at the police station Thursday in a chauffeur-driven Mercedes. She left without speaking, but her lawyer said the supermodel was “bitterly disappointed” that she had been charged.
“Prosecutors in this case have decided she needs to be prosecuted in the magistrates court. She respects that decision and she hopes this matter is dealt with expeditiously,” Nicholls said.
The *****ault charges carry a maximum sentence of six months in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000. The other charges are punishable by a fine.
Campbell has a history of *****aulting *****istants and employees.
In 2000, she pleaded guilty in Toronto to an *****ault charge for beating an *****istant while making a film in Canada in 1998. Under an agreement with prosecutors, Campbell expressed remorse and was released without punishment or a criminal record.
In January 2007, Campbell pleaded guilty to misdemeanor *****ault in New York for throwing her cell phone at her maid in a dispute over a missing pair of jeans. She was ordered to do community service and attend a two-day anger-management program.

I’m on the fence about Tyra. Sometimes she seems like she could be cool and down to Earth. Other times she comes across really fake and overly dramatic. I admire the fact that she took her career beyond modeling underwear.
Now as far as the cover, she DOES look like RuPaul. And I personally don’t get the connection with this picture in comparing her to Oprah and Martha Stewart. Neither of them would dress like this. I understand she’s her own person. But if you are trying to make a connection there should be a link. It would seem as though they would have put her in a power suit or a nice dress. LOL, I had to look up that Tyra interview you referenced — that’s from a show she devoted last year to the, ahem, vagina, (didn’t see it), and here is the info and full quote: “She educated the “Tyra” audience with a velvet vagina puppet, accompanied a 28-year-old to her first gynecologist visit, and shared several vagina related tips that she learned from her mother. According to Tyra’s mom, “You don’t need douche because the vagina is a self-cleaning oven.”
So I think she was referring to douching, not to entirely ignoring the very important act of daily vaginal cleaning.

Maybe some of you should watch more than one of her shows before you start judging her. I think she’s a wonderful role model and she helps teach women to love themselves. Regardles if it has to do with someone that is fat, or dark skinned, or has a disease. She is willing to help even if she can’t relate! I think that she is a very wonderful and obviously very beautiful person. And she looks gorgeous on this cover.
