This is still so sad:

Fayetteville Police Chief Tom Bergamine said Tuesday that tips continue to come in anonymously to the task force assigned to the case. About 20 people are assigned to the task force, Bergamine said. They are working hand and glove with the District Attorney’s Office. When asked if there were any new suspects in the case, Bergamine said several teams continue to work leads every day, and the case is ongoing.

On Tuesday, Shaniya’s mother, Antoinette Davis, was transferred to the North Carolina Correctional Center for Women in Raleigh for safekeeping. Debbie Tanna, a spokeswoman for the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, said Davis was moved to make sure she wasn’t harmed by herself or others.

“She is pregnant, so special precautions had to be taken,” Tanna said. Davis is charged with human trafficking and felony child abuse involving prostitution. Her bail was set at $51,000.

Shaniya’s Father speaks on this craziness:

Shaniya’s father, Bradley Lockhart, said during an interview on NBC’s “Today” show Tuesday that he regrets how the decision to let Shaniya stay with her mother turned out, but he thought he was making the right choice at the time.

“We obviously make decisions in life that sometimes have repercussions or adverse situations that drift from our decision,” he said. “We just have to continue to believe in God and hope that our decisions are the correct ones.” Lockhart said he last saw Shaniya in early October as he left for an out-of-state work assignment. Shaniya moved in with her mother about a week later after initially staying with Lockhart’s sister, he said. Bergamine said it was still unclear to investigators why Shaniya was pulled out of school in October. Shaniya had been enrolled at Morganton Road Elementary School. Her aunt, Carey Lockhart-Davis, lives in the district. Bergamine said he wanted the task force to leave no stone unturned. “It’s very important as we prepare the case for the District Attorney’s Office that we cover everything that’s possible,” he said.

That broad’s bail is only 51K?? Let’s hope that she stays locked up forever and they don’t even allow her to touch the child that is growing inside of her right now. SMH. R.I.P. little Shaniya.

    Is it ok for me to say this father is FULL OF SH*T? Ok or not, I’m saying it. He knew that woman was an unfit parent. He didn’t even know that he daughter was not going to school since moving in with her mother. All it takes to learn that is on what should have been daily calls he starts the conversation by saying “How was school today?” I think he should be charged with neglegence and if I see this fake dude crying on TV one more time I’m going to scream.

    I’m confused so she didn’t live with the dad to begin with but with his sister?? At first I thought they were saying she was just visiting her mother, not that she had moved in..not to place blame on anyone but why is this story so inconsistent??     Every time I see a picture of this precious little girl I put myself in her shoes and just try to imagine what she went through. From being kidnapped to raped, to being killed…Just the thought locks my eyes with tears and fills my mind with pity and rage for all that was involved.That filthy deadlock boomerat taking advantage of this poor innocent sweet thing! And that low life disgusting mother that allowed this to happen.

    As far as the father,we all make mistakes. I do believe he really cared for his daughter. However, something leads to me believe that his priorities were not in line. My question is how long was the mother supposedly back on track before he released his daughter. Another question is if the mother was on track before he left town for his job, why did he wait until he had to leave to convince himself that she was now ready to be a parent. Was it to relieve himself as well as his sister of his parental duties due to the new job *****ignment?

    The whole case is sad. This woman is on drugs and to sell her child means she’s deeply addicted. What’s sadder is that this goes on everyday in this country and others and no one pays attention. Children are sold all over the world as we go on with our merry little selfish lives without a second look. If bossip and some of these other sites would us their time and resources to bring attention to these kind of situations instead of clowning just maybe we can put a dent in this crime.     Once the detectives really start releasing information, I think I’ll stop reading about this. I don’t think I want to know all the details of this baby’s death. It’s too much. The little I know makes me want to scream. And I certainly don’t want to know what that MONSTER did to her at that hotel. We, as a society, have to stop being afraid of drug dealers and report them so they can stop killing our children. Shaniya’s mom will have to live with this for the rest of her life. One day, she’ll have to face her demons and deal with them. How anyone hurt a child, especially to the point of death, is just baffling to me. Thank you God for bringing Shaniya home to be with you because if you hadn’t, there’s no telling how her life would have turned out. To be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord.     Something is amiss. Is there proof that the father went on a business trip? Also, who withdrew Shaniya from school and why? And how long was she out of school? Why all of a sudden was she returned to the mother? Wasn’t she living with her aunt at one point? I think a thorough investigation should be done to close some of the “holes”.     I can’t speak for every one, and I won’t try…I will say that as far as up till now, I believe the father…I mean I can see how someone would want their child to know his/her mother or father, but to put the blame on someone who’s lost their kid is just wrong unless you have evidence of it….Last I checked, they don’t!!     I don’t even see how you all possibly can blame the father. At the end of the day it isn’t his sisters child. The child has a mother and if the child’s was mother was not deemed “unfit” by a COURT of LAW then its her parental right to have her child. I will say if the dad had custody he should have checked more into the living conditions that the mom was in. However, to isinuate that because he made a poor choice to let his daugther go live with her mother, that he some how is in on it is irresponsible at best. I have 3 boys and 1 daughter and all but my oldest(14 year old son) Live with my ex wife. Now I could have gotten them all but i felt like the younger ones need that nuturing from there mother! Now is that a bad decision on my part if something was to happen…. No they need their mother just as much!

    Yeah, the murderer (not plural because the mother didn’t commit the actual act) was black.

    But the TWO negligent parents (and possible accomplices) should be held accountable. My point is that because the father tries to earn his “Oscar” in front of the cameras he won’t receive any punishment for what was CLEARLY an irresponsible act.

    The COURT deemed her unfit, HE KNEW she was a crack head, the girl was FIVE YEARS OLD and he didn’t even consider someone else to supervise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    A “REAL” Prosecutor would charge him with “child endangerment” or “child neglect” or SOMETHING. I promise you had a black father did the SAME THING a prosecutor would jump at the chance to charge him.

    I’m sorry to cast aspersions on the father, but my mother and I had a conversation yesterday on this very matter, and she said that she doesn’t understand how little Shaniya could have been released into the custody of a woman who wasn’t deemed capable for five years of caring for her daughter. There’s also an ongoing investigation into why child services had previously visited the home of Antoinette Davis in regards to her son (who’s now in foster care, I believe).

    I also find the reactions of Antoinette Davis’ relatives unsettling as well. I understand the desire to support one’s relatives, but as heinous as these charges are, it feels to me that there’s more outrage from them on the holding of Davis than of the rape and murder of a 5-year-old child. They proclaim her innocence, but the blank look on her face a few weeks ago in court (the day that her child’s body was found) spoke volumes to me.

    To be honest, I feel that a number of people failed Shaniya.

    It seems that she was raised by the father her entire life, so it’s weird that he would all of a sudden allow the mother to raise her for whatever period of time. Wouldn’t she be a stranger to this little girl then?

    And where was the checking up on the daughter and the mother? Was it a ‘here you go’ situation? Obviously, because he didn’t even know that she was out of school.

    I won’t debate the actions of the mother. All though I could argue that she didn’t care what happened to the child, that doesn’t mean she KNEW he was going to kill her.

    Yes, they COULD be investigating the father (as we speak). However, just from the information that we KNOW he should be charged with something.

    I don’t think the father was in on it, but I DO think he had/has very poor judgment. Yes, a child does have every right to have a relationship with both parents, but you, as her/his legal guardian, have a responsibility to check out all aspects of that person (Especially if she’s shady like this one.) before you send your child away. And check up with them everyday! Laaaawrd.

    If the father is guilty of anything, it is being extremely gullible. We all know people like this who will believe ANY sob story. Of course, the problem with that is you can NOT believe ANY sob story when it comes to your children’s well-being. The mother probably worked him and his sister over real good with her lies and tearful pleas, and they both gave in without setting any conditions on her having physical custody of Shaniya.

    He has the rest of his life to deal with the ‘what ifs’ of the whole situation, which is punishment enough. He seems genuinely broken up about his daughter’s death, which I will believe until there is evidence to prove otherwise.

    The mother needs to be sterilized after this child is born. I know that sounds harsh, but she has no business bringing any more kids into this world. Otherwise, the next thing you hear, she’ll be pregnant by a prison guard like Susan Smith was. She and that dude need to rot in jail, at the very LEAST, for the rest of their lives.

    As far as I’m concerned, the whole family needs to be checked out. We’ve had to deal with drug addicts in my family and you KNOW when someone is capable of properly caring for a child, or whether you need to keep the child away from an individual who doesn’t care enough about themselves to even warrant the care of another human being – even if they are the biological parent. The father seems very shady! It will be interesting to see how things unfold as the investigation continues…and that 51k is a travesty in and of itself. How did she even get a bail amount set?

    I think the father Brad made a dubious choice in wanting to ‘do the right thing, but I do not think he knew anything about the plans of the mother Antoinette. Now, by that line of reasoning, the same can be said about Antoinette, but there’s one problem with that. Everytime I see the father, I see extreme grief and anguish. That says he truly loved his daughter Shaniya, and he wanted her to have both her parents in her life and he didn’t want to seem like a negative father to keep her away the same way single mother would be a horrible mother and prohibit the father from visiting his kids when he desires to be their Papa. I do not think he feels guilty about the one nightstand that conceived Shaniya, because she was a blessing from God regardless of Brad and Antoinette’s shortcoming. Brad seemed to cherish Shaniya and just care for her. He just thought MAYBE Antoinette would feel the same way, but she didn’t.
    Antoinette, on the other hand has no emotion. Her first court appearance when I know she was notified about her daughter being found dead-she did not cry, break down, or anything. She kept biting her ashy lips trying to wipe the white crust from around her mouth. I could only guess what that was seeing that she’s a prostitute. Now, she got moved to the prison to keep her safe and her unborn child. I think as soon as that baby is born, the father of which she had arrested Clarence Coe; he needs to sue her for sole custody and never let their child see her. Antoinette has no heart of a mother, or any remorse about doing this to her daugther. She is the person who should be blamed, as well as the baby-sodomizing murderer Mario McNeil. Brad is not the one at fault here.

I think he’s one of the children from his late wife who was raised by his grandparents.

    I hate to say it, but I think there’s a lot of dysfunction on both sides of Shaniya’s family, and there are a variety of factors that enabled this tragedy to occur.

    As mad as I get when I ask myself why and how could they…I try my best to convert my thoughts into picturing this precious little angel (with her gorgeous smile) playing in Heaven.

    I, for one, am not casting direct blame on Bradley Lockhart for the rape and murder of his daughter. He isn’t guilty of any crime.

    But there have been repeated disingenous denials of any knowledge of past accusations/queries into the behavior of Antoinette Davis. I don’t see how anyone could think this individual was a Model Mom, or someone who was capable of giving this precious little girl a loving, healthy home. DSS doesn’t visit the homes of individuals for no reason.

They need to put their adult shoes on and come to grips with the fact that this woman is a beast and should never see the light of day again. They are just as bad as her if they can’t see that.

    As far as the school issue, I don’t know. I know Brad was out of town, but as far as the sister. I don’t have enough details, but I can guarantee this – one day the truth will come out.

    But I would think the reverse would be true — many times, people who have been victims of crimes or have lost relatives to crimes are extra-careful, even sometimes paranoid.

    This woman had a history of questionable behavior, not to mention her living conditions were deplorable, from what I’ve read and seen. I think there were even sewage problems within the trailer (Diva, you may have heard about this — Is this correct? I think Nancy Grace reported on it).

    I just cannot shake the feeling that this little girl was negligently placed in the hands of a monster.

    And I won’t even get into the elaborate funeral service that I watched on Sunday. . .Where were all these people when this little girl was alive??

    What’s confusing to me is that the sister dropped the baby off at her mother’s home constantly before this happened for visition. That is my understand. I might be wrong. They said Shaniya loved her mom and wanted to see her mom (however, a lot of abused children love their abusers), but all seemed well. Again, this beast had her daughter for the first year of her life. What’s up with that?

    Most of the people there were there for Shaniya. Complete strangers but all with a common thread which was to lay to rest this beautiful baby. There were not (IMO) a lot of family members. Once again, it was so packed, a lot of people were turned away.

    Further up the street from the funeral there were cameras everywhere. Anyway, IN MY OPINION, it seemed as if the family thought they were celebrities or something. They were somewhat cohesive until they KNEW cameras where nearby. I hate to say it but…JUST MY OPINION.     MRS. RANCE, I’m so with you. Brad the Dad is no father of the year and he needs to stop while he’s ahead. I felt sooo badly for him at first–and I still do because he lost a child in such a horrible manner. But now I’m sick of seeing him and his snaggle-toothed sister crying on TV every chance they get.

    I would NEVER allow my child to live with Mom in that trailer while I drive a BMW and live in the nice house and safe neighborhood that he does.

    He knew she was using and had all manner of riff-raff in her life. That’s why he didn’t move her in with him. One look at Antoinette’s mother tells you the whole family’s probably on drugs.

    Brad the Dad didn’t want to be bothered.

    He didn’t even raise his first 3 after their mother–his WIFE–was killed. Their GRANDPARENTS got custody of and raised them. That doesn’t say much for him as a dad at all.

    We all need to stop trying to blame everyone! This is not a blame game. This is a horrible situation that has affected the global community. It has been reported all over the world. I was sick to my stomach and unable to each for almost a week.

    What matters is that a 5 year old innocent child was brutalized and murdered by an animal. She was handed to her killer by one of the people who she trusted the most in her life, her mother. It just rips me apart. I am fighting mad and would love to burn the two devils in a pit. Those images of the girl and her killer haunt me. I have been having nightmares. We know who is to blame, Antoinette Davis and Mario Mcneil.

    We all need to focus on healing and saving other “forgotten children” in the name of Shaniya Davis. People need to be more diligent in doing this! We need to stop thinking that someone else will say something. If you see neglect or abuse REPORT IT and follow up. And, do not be afraid to reach out to an at risk child in your own community. You may save their life. This just really breaks my heart!

    Karen I do agree with you, but the man lost his child. He made a horrible mistake and now many have to live with it for eternity. He will pay he price for his poor judgment.

    News reports have said that the father has been looked at. The problem is that the little girl became invisible because she was being sent to live with everyone. Bradley’s friends and family are furious with his decision to let Shaniya go to that devil’s home because they were planning to take Shaniya while he was gone.

    We can blame the hotel worker, the father, the Aunt, her brothers and sister, neighbors of the mother, etc..

    We just need to focus on healing and prevention right now so this does not happen to another child. Our babies are being plucked like chicken feathers. Somer Thompson, Shaniya Davis, the 9 year old killed by the 15 year old, WHEN WILL IT STOP! This is just sickening!

    It is so sad that a tragedy such as this seem to cause many to feud with each other rather than work together to prevent this from happening in the future.

    The same energy placed into placing blame or arguing over who is at fault can be placed into being better parents, looking after your neighbors children, and speaking out on mysterious activity.

    One thing for sure is that the mother and the dusty mop-head guy is certainly accountable. The rest is up for grabs. All we can do is pray for the best and let God deal with the rest!

    The father sounds like a truly extrodinary man. I am glad he is able to not blame himself or be consumed with guilt for his choice. This story tears my heart apart! Its just sick. The people that hurt her are pure evil and should be exterminated. I pray for Shaniya often that she may rest peacfully and that god may embrace her tightly in his arms.

    Yes, old girls should receive a VERY stiff penalty that would be nothing short of a lethal injection. And that bail amount is disgracefully low for charges of the magnitude that she face…prositution leading to the death of her own daughter(whew…)somebody had to miscalculate. So so sad…

    Fayetteville is a military town and the area where Shaniya lived was on Murchison Rd which is notoriously a bad area. Ask anyone from Fayetteville and they’ll tell you to stay out of the “Murch”. Its known for prostitution, drugs and violence. Shaniya went to Morganton Road which is about 7-10 miles from where she lived. If the aunt lived in the area she should have kept her there to go to school. I just can’t fathom why anyone would let a 5yo go live in that area with a questionable mother.

    This story about this Baby was so very disturbing to me. I cried so hard, I had gotten sick. What made me even madder was the photo of him with her in the Hotel!!!!! Then the mug shots with him smiling! WTF! Me being a Mom and Grandma of a 2 year old, this breaks my heart completely. I really wish I had the money to have The Mother and her Man taken care of!!!!!

    i just dnt understand why *****ody went over to the monsters house and check on poor shaniya and see how she was doing! the father shud of went ova there and check the living conditions first and her history of drugs, abuse etc. before letting her even keep shaniya! if so , than that beautiful lil girl wud still be alive today!she didnt even have custody of the girl in the first place and we all know why now! supervised visits shud of took place with shaniya and that monster cuz she dnt deserve 2b called a mother! why didnt he call shaniya and ask her about her day 2 see if she was in school and how things were going ova there! why did the school not call the gaurdian of the child 2 see why she wasnt in school? so many things that cud of been provented and shaniya wud still be alive. the system truely failed this child!

    Personally, I think the father just wanted his freedom. Was that his girlfriend at a press conference with him and his sister. His sister was crying her eyes out and the other chick ws looking as if she had no feelings for the child. She was there just to be there.

I have been watching this and I am very good with discernment and I will tell you this, I am almost 100% positive the father did not have ANYTHING to do with this. This father wanted the mother to be a part of their daughter’s life-this is human condition. You all should be ashamed of yourself for not even being smart enough to feel real human emotion from this man and not being able to feel his pain. I have seen fakers talking about children they have hurt and this man is not one of them. I am very in tune with emotions and I can feel the hurt in this man when he speaks.     @Karen Not everyone has the luxury of growing up in a brick home with a BMW parked out front but that doesn’t make someone less of a parent. This man wanted the mother of his child to be a part of her life no matter what her condition. Money does not equal a proper upbringing. Well off people are just a fked in the head as low income. It all comes down to morals which just so happens this hood chick did not have. Rich people cause their children harm too. He sent her with the mom because he loved his daughter enough to try and let her bond with her mother and from what I have seen she is quite the liar. But I guess trying to form bonds with natural family and morals is not something a lot of people know about.

    And I can relate to your 2nd post as well, our family looked fantastic on paper, middle cl*****, my pops had a good job, nice house, yada yada , and behind closed doors, he was a violent control freak.
    I ran away from home at 15, I told the police,but they just didn´t beleive me, took me right back home, and i got the whipping of my life…
    I left home at 16, it´s taken me 20 years plus to get over the things he said and did to me, so be careful who you judge….

    The father should be held accountable for KNOWINGLY placing Shaniya in a dangerous situation. The father was aware of the cigarette burns on Shaniya’s arm, after a visit with the mother. His former father-in-law offered to care for Shaniya rather than be placed with the mother, the father turned down his offer. It’s been reported that Shaniya was raised, mostly, by other people as a result of the father traveling a lot. I’m not sure what the father’s motivation was in placing Shaniya with the mother, but it wasn’t for the CHILD’S best interest.

    It’s really very simple folks:

    Bradly is a SUCKER for black women. Unfortunately he seems to fall for the WRONG type of black woman. If they sweet talk him enough, they can get him to do just about anything. Mabye Shaniye was a result of a one night stand. That doesn’t mean that the father still didn’t have feelings for the mom(even if she was a crackhead). So it was easy for her to persuade him.

    I also think that mabye Brads sister wasn’t all that supportive in wanting to watch Shaniya while he went to work-I guess he didn’t have any other option but to let her stay with that creature of a mother. I’m sure he din’t expect the crazy heffa’ to do that to his baby.

    I do feel sorry for the father he has to go threw life wishing he could have done things differently, his son said every body deserve a second chances and that is what the father was doing giving the mother a second chances to be a mother to her daughter and she blew it. When I saw that father on TV crying my heart went out for him. I still believe he knew that mother was a druggie. But he is not the one who sold his daughter in to prostitution the mother did. Regardless of her drug use what mother would sale her daughter in to prostitution? I cannot fault the father for that only the mother, if this is true.

If something so horrific happened to my child [dren] I wouldn’t be able to speak to anyone for a while.     Bradley Lockhart may be grieving and we are grieving with him but he is full of it saying that Antoinette Davis was a one-night stand and that he barely knew her. I have heard from numerous sources that Brad has known Antoinette for a long time and that she was NOT a one night stand. Antoinette Davis BABYSAT his children with his 1st wife. You don’t let someone babysit your kids IN YOUR HOUSE that you didn’t know or trust. It sounds to me like a case of a guy who was screwing his babysitter, if you ask me.

    Something isn’t adding up with this story. The entire family looks like they are playing with half a deck. This father looks to be putting on a show for the cameras. He seems reckless and it seems like he’s impregnating a bunch of black women and leaving a big mess behind with his neglectful tendencies with his family situation.

    The father and aunt look to be in genuine anguish and hurt over this horrible tragedy but, to me, the new (white) girlfriend was probably JEALOUS of Shaniya’s presence in her father’s life and home and wanted her out of there. I believe that the girlfriend pressured Brad to get rid of her (ie send her back to her Mama’s) once and for all to make room for the new girlfriend and HER plans to make her own family with him.

    This may get me crucified but I do not believe that the accused guy raped and murdered Shaniya. Kidnapped her, yes, raped and murdered her, no. I could be wrong but my gut feeling is that he is a part of some big child ***** traficking ring and he was delivering her to someone at that hotel. That is why he plead not guilty and it seems like he is protecting a crime ring. I think the cops were pressuring him to reveal what they think is happening behind the curtain and he has refused to snitch, so the authorities are pinning all the charges on him to pressure him to talk.

    This whole thing makes me sick and I’m STILL thinking about this little angel. RIP Shaniya.
