Freaky Rihanna arrived at LAX last night and was looking a little jet lagged and glum. Rihanna’s father said recently that he has not spoken to his daughter in over a year and he is hurting for cash:

Ronald Fenty says the star – who will perform on X Factor tonight – has refused to speak to him following a row. They had a bust-up when Rihanna, 21, discovered her dad was drunk ahead of a gig and last week she said: “I haven’t been in touch with my dad for a year and a half… by his choice. “He came on tour and acted a mess. We sent him home and after that he didn’t answer my calls.”

Ronald, 56, is upset by his daughter’s claims and is desperate to be part of her life again. The penniless father of five said from Barbados: “Robyn (Rihanna’s real name) is going around saying I don’t want to be in touch with her. “I leave messages for her but I never hear back. I want nothing more in this world than to see my daughter again and to be part of her life. “I speak to my children every day and to have gone so long without speaking to Robyn is heartbreaking. I am very distressed about it.”

He added: “What makes it all the more sad is our argument was over nothing. I had been on her tour for four weeks and things were fantastic. “But in Chicago I got drunk before a gig – I acted like a jerk. “I remember Robyn being really upset and saying‚ ‘Dad, you are going home.’ One of her assistants put me on a plane back to Barbados. I have not seen or heard from Robyn since.”

He added: “I just want to send a message to her to say, ‘I’m sorry and I love you.’” The row comes after Rihanna – whose hits include Umbrella and Disturbia – forgave her dad for his crack cocaine use which she had to witness as a nine-year-old. He told the Sunday Mirror last year of his shame, and how he split from Rihanna’s mum Monica and became estranged from his daughter. But Rihanna, who has sold 12 million records worldwide, later gave her dad a second chance, inviting him on tours and taking him to award ceremonies.

Ronald added: “I know, having regained her trust, I let her down badly by getting drunk.” The worlds of Rihanna, who has a million-pound pad in Los Angeles, and Ronald, who lives in his aunt’s modest home, could hardly be more different. He works seven days a week selling tacky toys, perfume and household items from the back of a car in Bridgetown. At night, he works at a factory.

When Rihanna appears on X Factor tonight, she will walk on stage as one of the most successful female pop stars on the planet. Last week, she was named Woman of the Year by Glamour magazine and has invited mum Monica and younger brothers Rorrey and Rajad, to the awards bash in New York – but snubbed her dad. Ronald added: “The nearest I get to seeing Robyn now is when she is on programs like X Factor or awards shows.”

“I watch her and what she is doing and am so proud. But whatever people may think I am not interested in Robyn’s money or fame. I just want to be a dad and a friend to her. “I have heard through other family members that she is going to be in Barbados for Christmas and I want nothing more than to see her again.” Rihanna’s secret heartache with her dad comes at the end of a turbulent year for the R&B singer. In February, her face was left battered and bruised following a vicious assault by her ex-boyfriend, Chris Brown, 20.

The singer got five years probation and was ordered to serve community service. Rihanna’s new album – Rated R – which is released tomorrow includes the song Cold Case Love, which is thought to be about her assault by Brown.

She will sing her new single Russian Roulette in front of Simon Cowell and 15 million viewers tonight.

In the UK where they so called loved her she came in at #16 only selling around 33,000.. In the US she will come in #5 or #6 maybe and that’s still after black friday and them selling her for a whopping $0.99 – $3.99 in some places. Cant blame it on the direction she took with this CD blame it on her cause if RR would’ve been given to an artist that could sing that song would be epic but they gave it to Rihanna! This is his hundredth interview. What is he going to say now? His true fans love him regardless of what happened that night. He is doing really good right now, why bring the subject up again? I think both of their images are now tattered and now ppl can only judge them on their natural talent–>Chris is handsome, great dancer, pretty good singer and an all-around wonderful, live performer (saw him in Richmond). Rihanna is a pretty girl, decent sounding singer, and looks good in certain clothes (she doesn’t wow me with her performance but I’m sure others like her).

I hope they can move on with their lives and start anew in 2010.

btw, you can forgive someone without allowing their continued presence in your life. If someone abuses you, you can forgive them to heal yourself, but your responsibility ends there. Allowing them back in to wreak more havoc is doing extra. Not necessary–especially if they aren’t taking steps to do no harm to those around them. I really hope after this album Ri-Ri takes sometime out and get counseling…NY Times released an article where she refused counseling after the DV incident. She has Daddy issues (psychologically your father is supposed to be your prototype of how a good man treats you) and now her own DV issues.

I know her culture tell her to just put on a “game face and deal with it your own way” but she will find herself in another bad relationship if she does not address these other lingering problems. Even Halle Berry said it was not until she went to counseling did she start finding better relationships with men.

Look, I don’t think Rhianna has anything to be ashamed of. Her parents have a LOT to be ashamed of. The child is never supposed to raise the parent. And as I said before, if the parent has done a proper job, none of these issues arise anyway.

It’s not bitterness to protect yourself from harm. Sounds to me like Rhianna tried to allow access to her life, but her father’s substance abuse issues got in the way. None of us can know what conditions she gave him to receive her *****istance. Maybe he refuses to go to rehab. Maybe he thinks using the press to air her out will force her hand financially. Either way, he has a problem with substance abuse. As a MAN, he needs to handle his business with that, and he should re-enter her life when he’s a HEALTHY FATHER–not a grown man needing a handout.

Well, I can’t blame Rih for not speaking to her father! It seems as if he is the cause of a lot of pain and heart ache in her life! I am sure she is just trying to deal with all the drama from the past eight months, and she just can’t deal with him too right now. Plus, it seems as if he is the type to run to a tabloid and blab to the world about personal matters, so I am sure she is hesitant to talk to him out of fear that he would dicuss it with a tabloid!
Plus earlier this year, he talked to Star and People about her *****ault with CB He said he had spoken to her and even when she went to Barbados during the summer for her parents anniverysary he said he saw her and she was back to her old self again! So I don’t understand how now he is saying that they haven’t spoken in over a year! It doesn’t make sense!
I really think her troubled relationship with her dad is part of the reason that she and CB had so many issues! I don’t care what anybody says, I think she was abusive in the relationship as well! I believe she started off the abuser in the realationship, and CB began to get physical back with her! Their abuse towards each other led up to the events that night! She really does need counseling just like CB does or she will never truly heal. I think that she should have taken time off after the ‘incident’ to get herself together. I don’t think she has people around her that are in her best interest at heart (except maybe her BFF Melissa) I believe she was pressured to get back to work to reclaim her thrown and it looks like it is backfiring cause her album is not doing so well. Well I haven’t been cool with my dad for over 2 years. I went home for a visit,he got drunk and said alot of hurtful things to me and about me. I sorta let it go and he did it again a few months after that. We haven’t been on the same page since then and I don’t visit home as often. I look at him in a totally different light now. To the point that if I got famous and rich, I probably wouldn’t talk to him or give him much money.
Soooo I sorta understand Rihanna on this issue.

She says her mom is who she looks up to. Her mom lives in a different part of the world, so you are not going to see her with her every single day.
