None of this information is technically correct. Nobody actually gets AID’s. AID’s is the later stage of HIV. This is most important because it maps out a time line of the virus. It can take up to 7 months to test positive for HIV after being exposed to the virus and then up to 20 years for the AID’s stages to come into effect. Generally people can live with the virus for 7-9 years without actually having any symptoms. The point is that HIV is what we are trying to prevent and as of right now knowing your status and educating yourself on HIV prevention is our only weapon.

I totally agree with you that it is a personal choice.

I just don’t quite understand how it would be effective. especially in a marital relationship:

1 – Condoms are not 100% effectve – for a 1 night stand, or occasional intercourse the chance of contracting the virus may be lower because users are more likely to be more careful in using condoms – accidents are apparently more likely to happen in a long term relationship.

2 – the virus can be contracted though other means – which would mean taking further precautions in other situations – e.g when blood is involved – if your husband had a cut that was bleeding – would you put gloves on before assiting him with it? ensure that u dont accidentally use each others toothbrishes or razors etc?
