1. born in the United States
2. said person’s parents must BOTH be US citizens at the time of birth

A Hawaiian birth certificate is irrelevant at this point.
BO’s father was a British Subject at the time of Barack’s birth. His father later became a citizen of Kenya. His father was never an American citizen.

Article II of the US Constitution states this as it relates the citizenship requirements of an individual who aspires to be President:

“No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of president; neither shall any person be eligible who shall not attained to the age of thirty-five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United Satates.”

Contrary to what you try to *****ert, the Constitution does not define the term “natural born citizen”, explicitly, which leaves us to interpret what the Framers meant by the phrase.

Apparently, some people wish to use a rather broad interpration of the phrase, supposing it to have several qualifiers, which coincidentally have never come into play before Barack Obama’s candidacy.

I think the simplest interpretion is probably the correct one.

A natural born citizen is one who was born in the US.

My two cents.

I appreciate your comment and respect your educated opinion; however, I disagree. We could go back and forth on it all day, but what it boils down to is we both have read/learned information bringing us to our own interpretations of Article II. I wish more people would do the same and stop the petty comments.

I don’t think the “birther” argument will be a problem for BO unless the Democrats lose big in the 2010 elections. If BO’s domestic agenda begins to threaten the Democratic majority I see Pelosi/Reid etc using this argument to distance themselves from BO to save their jobs. Would it go so far as an impeachment? I don’t know, we’ll have to wait and see.

If it does I can’t wait to see the Bossip headlines/comments on that one.
