They really should stay in the “closet”!!
People should “out” themselves, not be “outed”!! I think it is really uncool for someone to share that they know somone is gay without the person’s permission.
You don’t know what that person has told his family or friends or for matter, what their family or friends want people to know about you.
^^^^^^^ tru but its not fair when they r married n in the closet
Tru dat @ K*****ie BK 4Lyfe.
This man acts like he’s got an axe to grind!!! What *****es me off is he doesn’t have the courage to tell who he’s talking about.
note to Terrance–
Name names, fool! Aint *****ody got noooooo time to be guessing who the hell you talking ’bout!
Shoot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lol!!
the black community created this DownLow monster… so either fix the way you and your family view gays, or accept that most black men will not come out and they’ll just lurk among straight people tryna “live right”
he really needs to quit….who does he think he is??….but then again…what about these DL brothers who are with men and women and aren’t be truthful…it’s all a big mess….but it still brings me back to WHO DOES HE THINK HE IS!!!
@stoney
OR…..
we could say ***** all gays…and eliminate the genetic disorder which causes *****getry and the urge to fondle animals alike
that will solve this problem once and for all
and prolly curb HIV infection by 2/3
meant to aren’t being truthful
Looky Here, all these ***** in the booty *****, punks deserve to be exposed. Down Low dudes get no love from a Trill ***** Nigg like me.
Ok Philly
I had to chuckle at your comment

1. *****s
2. Mexicans
3. Obesity
4. Mexican Americans
5. Black Hilary Clinton Supporters
Those black men are not coming out of the closet because they are s***** and lower than life. In this day and age no one is scared to come out of the closet. I think that if you are married and you are out there having unprotected sex with strangers whether you are straight or gay you should be locked up for attempted murder. Because obviously something is wrong with you.
AL Anon wtfk you talikng about. Do you think its fair for thier families to think that theese people are honest and trustworthy!!! Why live a a live of lies and expect people not to call you out. If your siginificant other was cheating on you would you not want to know, or are you that fked up that it makes no diff to you that the person is getting broke off else where. Be true to yourself and deal with it. I gots no problem if your gay or not, but when you start lying and you make people look bad cause they are telling the truth but you deny shizzz,, I’m going to put you on full blast baby…. Bottom line don’t hate cause your not truethful bia biaaaaaaaaa… holla at your canadian boyyyyyyy
It’s nearly IMPOSSIBLE for me to believe that you can be MARRIED to a man and NOT KNOW that he was GAY or BI-SEXUAL!! I have a really hard time with that one. I’m not saying that it’s impossible, but I do have a hard time believing it.
Always, I think that the women are in denial and they don’t want to see or accept certain things.
I’ve had women tell me that they didn’t know and I ask “how can that be”.
All the gay men that I work with and all the gay men in my family; you can spot them and their flaming *****es miles away.
My things I hate list…
1. People who drive 70 miles per hour while texting.
2. People who drive 30 miles per hour while texting.
3. People who drive.
4. People that burp while they’re talking to you.
5. People that ate onions and burp while they’re talking to you.
I got a whole bunch of ***** but I’ve got a safety training seminar at 6 but–I’ll be back!!!!!!!!
Oh–one more for now–
People that write books about people and make me guess who-in-da-hell they’re talking about. Like I got $17.00 to throw away and that’s for the paperback!
For all we know he could be lying about whomever he’s “referring” to. Unless he names names, he can’t be held liable for spreading lies about people. Gossip is free and plentiful Terrance. Why should we pay for what is free here on Bossip every day? Is Terrance gay by the way?
Actually heterosexuals are amongst the fastest group of people contracting HIV.
What goes on in other folks’ bedrooms is not my concern.
I’m tired of all this propaganda. what if some of these men have changed their lifestyles…let them be in peace. if you really want to help wives, or spouses in general, approach each person individually and drop them some knowledge for free .
Yes Terrance is gay.
And it looks as though he isn’t gonna be naming names in the film either.
The trend to “write /film” about the DL culture happend a few yrs ago Terrance. Ur trying to cash in on a been there done that market. If folks really wanna know just about that “culture”, all they have to do is pick up a dang book…not urz of course!
I have one more thing to say Terrance…**YAWN**
“happened”
Damn, y do we even bother to correct typos?
As long as folks know what we r saying…lol
If I happen to know that you are gay, should I tell your boss that you are gay? Should I tell your church? Your children? Should I tell your wife or girlfriend?
I’m not sure that you can force gay men or women to be honest, however, I do have a problem with other people telling the world that you are gay. I don’t think it’s cool!!

I agree. And it is attempted murder. Too many faithful wives, and unfaithful husbands carrying the deadliest of the deadly ‘home’, because they put their ***** before family, ethics, health and morals.
If you want to be gay be gay, that’s cool. But don’t do that behind a woman’s back.
AL ANON, if your church is goona make you the priest yup, some one should snitch you out, If your childrean ask me if my dady is gay , yup I’m gonna dime you out, If your wife aint getting that dk like she should and starts wondering, yup I’m tell her and then beat her back out. So In other words If your wife was getting her back blown out by me, would you not want your boys to tell you, or is not cool for them to put you on,, nicca wtfkup, man up bia, you the type of person that finds out his bia bia is cheating and still asks her to marry you, lame *****
@ Al-Anon
i agree that its impossible 2 not know some1 ur married 2 isn’t gay as opposed 2 a friend but i thought he was outing the 1’s who were married n on the DL
UMMMMM….if you aren’t naming any names ….GO SIT DOWN!!!! LOL
^^^^^^ CO SIGN
I AGREE WITH ALOT OF THE COMMENTS I FEEL HE STILL HELD BACK IN HIS MEMOIR…..WHY TELL A STORY BUT STILL LEAVE ***** OUT…..
AND THEN TOO HE HAS INTIMATE ENCOUNTERS WITH SOME OF THESE DUDES…..SO MY THING IS IF THESE *****S WAS THAT BOLD TO *****/GET *****ED BY A MAN THEN MAN UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBLITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS!!
Good point. The AIDS/HIV infection rate is just as high among heterosexuals as it is among homosexuals. So, why should these people be ‘outed’. Why can’t they be entitled to their privacy of sexual preference. It’s none of our business.
But on the other hand, as far as the media and marketing is concerned, it entails a big lie that many young people have been persuaded/influenced negatively by – especially women.
And there is an underlying issue of child molestation as it relates to sexuality in adulthood. Surely, we would all like to call out any situations that we’ve indirectly/distantly feel as if we’ve bared witness too; however, we still have to respect people privacy and dignity at the same time.
It’s big mess. This book isn’t meant to help anyone but Terrance Dean as he fills his bank account with cash and builds his credit. The books serves the same purpose as this supposed subculture within hip-hop, it fuels promotion of the genre and industry – corrupt commercialism.
Listen I am sorry but anyone cheating should be outed in this day and tme with AIDS spreading. Someone said that AIDS is growing fastest in hetrosexual relationships. Uh no, as a matter of fact it is growing in “hetrosexual” relationships where the man is sleeping with other gay or bi-sexual men and bringing the disease home to their wife or live in girlfriend.
ALL DL people should be outed. Someone said their family or friends are obviously gay and they can see thier flaming @$$es a mile away. BUT there are a lot of people that aren’t flaming/flamboyant types. Some are purposely running around in the “hip hop”gear, North faces and Timbs thugging it while wearing thongs and sucking d*ck on the low. Whether in Hip Hop or in the real world, the need to be outed, especially if they are f*cking raw and then going home and sexing their wives and kissing their kids on their mouths or faces.
And I do think Terrance Dean is naming names in the movie either.

I certainly agree with this comment.
^^^^^^^
do = don’t
I don’t think Terrance Dean is naming names in the movie either
Let me re-write that and make some corrections:

There’s always talk about downlow activity in music, but there is never any real proof..And all this talk only comes out when someone is trying to make some money off of it..It’s hard to even believe anymore
I am so tired of bossip biggin -up this phony a$$ fairy Terrence Dean. Is bossip collecting royalties off his crappy books & movies. I think I speak for all the other readers whenI say:
WE DON’T WANNA HEAR IT!!!!!!!!
If you not gonna name names go sit the F down…
and @ Bossip stop *****ing off your audience by posting this malarky.
Lol @ The Bear!
Oh no you didn’t go there with “this malarky?”
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was a good one!
WHAT UP DIVA
GAY PEOPLE SHOULD STAY IN THE CLOSET BECAUSE THAT’S WHERE THEY BELONG! AND AFTER THE CLOSET NEXT HELL!
bossip,
Can you please do a discussion thread where people who have actually read the book not read the ones u posted discuss our opinions on who the people really are. i have my opinions but would like others.
I believe a lot of what Terrence Dean is saying but it is not as easy for him to come out and name names like it was for Superhead. It’s just something that a woman can do that a man can’t. Just like it is more acceaptable for a female to be gay, than for a man to be gay. I garauntee that if he were to name names that he would not live to be at his first book signing that he has after the release. And he knows that! But a lot of this is in plain sight for us to see if we open our eyes. I don’t need a book to tell me that Diddy,Tyson Beckford,Usher,Ne-yo,Omarion,Marques Houston,Mario, and Sisquo(along with countless others in hollywood are gay. Now some of the others I may be a little surprised about. But in this day in age anything is believable.
@ I’m Just Me—
I’m sorry fam! I’ve been in and out of here all night and missed your post. I been conducting a safety awareness training session aaaaaallllllll day!
WHAT’S FUNNY ABOUT MR DEAN, IS AS SOON AS HE OPENED HIS MOUTH, I COULD TELL HE WAS GAY.ONLY A COMPLETELY IGNORANT PERSON WOULD CONSIDER HIM ON TH ‘DL’. HE IS TOO FEMININE, LISP AND ALL!
Man, who can’t tell that this herb is gay, what woman actually slept with him? and those celebs that did had to be desperate, they needed an azzhole to fill seriously. first reading the book I thought it would be something to help those confused people, being gay is NOT natural. YOU are not born that way, but oh no, it was all about who he had, he probably listed dudes that he came on to . *****s lie all day and if your boy is telling you a rapper or someone is gay and want you to beleive it, and you go ahead and try to holla and they dont give you play, you might get a book like this.
I DON’T KNOW. He is selling though so I know that bank account is stacked. doo doo chaser wins again.
Karrine Stephans part 2. thats all this is. I tried to give the benefit of the doubt but now he is just being EXTRA
MAKING ME WONDER HOW MANY RETAKES HE HAD TO DO TO SOUND “MASCULINE” LOL
THIS HERB
What’s the difference between a hoe that gets aids and a female that’s not a hoe that gets aids. Not a damn thing they still got the same damn disease. Sister’s wake up, stop thinking that your man is holier than thou. You think he can’t get it from another chick? Well he can.
It’s 2008 the world is getting grimier. Even married couples are going to have to strap up. As people continue to lose their morals for not practicing ethics.
Terence Dean is just looking for cheap publicity…if you want to expose people, openly name names and provide your evidence…don’t hide behind baseless stories and try to profit from it. I hope that book TANKS!!!!
So……Is he gona drop some names?
A guy is tortured over the divide between the learned, if hypocritical and contradictory, morality in his community and his sexuality. He spends the prime years of his life battling this, in spite of his self-proclaimed promiscuity. In the process, he discovers and becomes embedded in a world in which gay men like himself are also living a lie, except unlike himself, choose to marry/bed multiple women, concieve households full of children, influence generations of music listeners with anti-gay rhetoric which in turn validates homophobia by straights in this community and self-rejection by gays in this community. Both lead to violence, be it gay bashing or substance abuse, both of which can lead to jail. Which in turn, is known for homosexual activity and unsafe sex which is often re-introduced into the civilian community when people have revolving-door relationships with law enforcement. Are people getting it yet? So this man, Terrance Dean, exposes this world and shows how dangerous it is for homophobia to run rampant in a black community that has just as many gays as any other, albiet cowardly ones, and what does he get? He gets this. A bunch of people saying he’s cashing in for it, he’s outing people, he’s lying and, most surprisingly, that he’s a *****got (NO, really?)
All I suggest is at least read the book before you speak on it, or you just sound stupid. And check your facts about HIV/AIDS transmission in hetero vs. homo sex for men and women before some of you make statements that are politically correct but medically misleading if not downright false. Different sex acts yield varying levels of immunity to viral transmission which also vary between the penetrating and the penetrated partner and the orifice/organ engaged, FYI.
wow, all this hate, no wonder black gay men have to be down low…
womp womp… im over it…. this is a hoax! Just say names you effin loser
It’s funny. This guy wrote a book about gays in hip hop. All types of people are jumping on his back about it. Ignorance abounds in some of the comments. I think all the guys on here that have negative things to say need to be broken off by a dude such as myself, that had no quams and is fully equiped to give them the ‘323′ on how a man can make another man feel very much like a man when all is said and done. They may even catch feelings. You guys forget that there are feelings involved behind the sexual aspect of it all. In any case, when you guys are done hennin’ and hawkin’ and are ready – so am I and every gay male out there that knows how to handle theirs….
And oh yeah – gay men don’t have to be on the DL. There are those of us who enjoy very fulfilling lives living as we are – no ‘hiding’ necessary. You would be amazed at those of ‘us’ that walk among you ‘un-noticed’, and by un-noticed, I mean simply, as we are…
Philly in Da 323
I like your list already!!! Keep it coming….
Macwell,
Thanks. You really said it best.
Why are so many black people ignorant? I’m sorry its supposed to be my culture but as an openly gay black male it is disturbing to see how much black people hate others yet want complete acceptance from everyone else. I have seen too many black people hate themselves, other succesful blacks, whites, gays, and the list can go on. I truly feel sorry for my own race sometimes.
@ macwell–
Let me first explain that I am in no way bashing anyone’s lifestyle. My feelings are so that–if a man is in a committed relationship–why choose to go outside of it–sexually or otherwise with ANYONE!
Let me put it this way–how many men “troll the stroll” looking for sex and end up with a tranny? Do they turn the tranny away? Hell no! Then they go home to their significant others and hop in the bed all ***** nilly! Does that act make this man a homosexual? By definition, I would say yes but how many men think otherwise? Probablly quite a few. These very same men who feel that way would most likely not think twice about keeping it on the DL.
Now there are some gay men that choose to keep their lifestyle a secret for many reasons but I don’t think it’s because of their feelings–I think it’s because how THEY feel that they will be accepted–or not.
@Phillyplaya:
My feelings exactly. I don’t know if you read the posts in the first days/week when “Hiding” was released (Bossip has since cleared the boards)but they were beyond atrocious. It was like a homophobe rally in here. In fact, many of these posters inadvertently validated the motivation for so many fellas and sisters living on the DL. I was fending off the ignoramuses on my own and getting shot down left and right. It’s great to read another voice like yours and macwell’s. Truly a reminder how being black is sometimes like being from a crazy family: sometimes you just can’t stand them but you’ll always stand up for them.
It’s the STRAIGHT men getting AIDS in prison who are killing black women. There is no “down low” epidemic.
Let me educate u Americans (I’m from Trinidad and Tobago). Most African American and even Black Caribbean men are gay!!! Most Black males grow up without a father or a father figure, and as a result they seek out relationships with men and they eventually become eroticised (sexual). Compounding this is the fact that Black males suffer from a profound sense of inferiority about their masculinity and place in society because of how they are treated and viewed on a whole. Also alot of them are victims of child molestation because Black women (their mothers) have “visiting units” and these boyfriends and men tend to molest these boys. So Terrance Dean could expose and brag all day long, the fact is probably everybody’s gay. People just need to be honest, protect themselves, their partners and get help.
Philly in DA 323, I feel you on your hate towards Mexicans, I just moved down here to San Antonio,TX, and it’s hard for me to stomach them, then they THIRD WORLD TACO EATIN *****ES THINK THEY ARE BETTER THAN BLACK FOLKS! Neekas in LA need to man up and handle them out there, or all of black america needs to descend upon LA and help out our PEOPLE!
TriniGeisha, you are beyond stoopid. The factors you mentioned DON’T factor into anyone’s sexual orientation. Sexual Orientation simply just is….take your ignorant back-porch philosophies elsewhere, please.
Just wanted to talk about the guy that he met at a party while in the long distance relatationship with “Derby”.
Well the guy’s name in the book was “Maximo”. In the book he is one of a four member R&B group from the 90’s.
He is described as an attractive man with a very muscular body, and was the shortest member of the group.
Any way long story short he is none other than Gary “Lil G” Jenkins of the the 1990’s R&B group Silk!! (Read for your self) It’s in the chapter Money.Power and Respect.
