So sad….there was so much joy when she was elected the first female mayor of B-more. I am not convinced she is “guilty” and I will keep her and her family lifted in prayer.

Regardless of the circumstances…This woman was entrusted to take care of a city that is already plagued with lots of problems…Baltimore already has the reputation of a drug haven…Now on top of that we have a corrupt mayor to add to the list…SMH…

Thats just crazy. Shes the mayor with a check ten times as much as mine and yet I can afford to buy my own Xbox and Wii

I don’t think too many people would vote her out of office over this, if she is doing a good job. Although, this will not reflect favorably on her political record.

I live in Baltimore and all i can do is shake my head. Seriously, $600 worth of gift cards!!! A trial with jury deliberations lasting longer that the actual trial! All this shows is how petty Baltimore really is. She could have paid restitution for real.

I can’t believe that the state paid $3 million for this trial over $300. I don’t think she spent the cards deliberately and I believe her story that she thought her boyfriend at the time left the cards for her. It’s not like she needed the cards/money and also she didn’t spend all of the cards. The police found the cards on her nightstatnd. So it wasn’t like she was trying to hide them. She has done a fantastic job as mayor

BTW…this happened in 2006 when she was serving as City Council President. The city council did an inquiry into this a few years ago and they found that she didn’t do anything wrong….she must have really pissed “someone” off…

@ memchee, as a resident of Baltimore, I can tell you firsthand that alot of people want her to step down. People comment that it was petty for the city to bring her up on charges, but how petty is it that a mayor that makes 6 figures would steal gift cards that were clearly intended for needy families? even when she was serving as city council president she was making a great salary so there is no excuse. you gotta be held accountable.

Mayor Dixon should buy some more gift cards and do the right thing with them. STOP thinking of yourself and family. PLEASE give to peoples that really need the gift cards. Too many peoples unemployed.!

Ok , since there are people on here that will defend her based solely on this woman’s race , lets put this into perspective :

1) EVERYONE in Baltimore politics is dirty . Dont believe me , take a look at what our now-governor did to former police chief who was in the process of investigating him .

2) This woman stole from needy children . For those of you who arent from Bmore…let me clue you in…the needy in Baltimore city are primarily black or hispanic . She stole from the less fortunate of her own people .

3) Baltimore politicians , excluding Kurt Schmoke , are not known for being exceptionally bright or trustworthy .

4) Ask around , this is not the first or second time Ms Dixon has been involved in something fishy .

5) Most Baltimoreans AKA BALTIMORONS would elect Marion Berry , were he to move to Charm City .

I do genuinely hope my post has offended others from Baltimore . It is a classless , drug infested , gang filled cesspool that should be flushed . Baltimore seems to find its share of scumbags from all over the country as the local residents do not have the backbone 2 say no to drugs and try to better themselves or their environment . May someone have mercy on the soul of Baltimore because its obvious GOD DOESNT !!
