Wow! I am genuinely sorry that you had such a terrible experience in my beautiful country. Usually I hear people love the D.R. and the warm people. What part of the island did you visit?

Again, I stand by my comment that Serena and her twin are physically unattractive and it has nothing to do with skin color. yes, I am mixed like the majority of Dominicans. but didnt you just read my post above where I wrote that Beyonce ain’t too cute and she happens to be light-skinned. trust me, with me it’s not about the color. I just refused to jump on the bandwagon of political correctness when I know for a fact that if Serena and Venus were at the mall most men wouldn’t look at them. But if christina milian, gabrielle union or meghan good came through, men would be slobbering over them. I see it happen all the time with girls who look like serena versus meghan good. And it’s especially African-American men who are the first to go for anything exotic/mixed. I know from first-hand experience being a Dominican woman. As a matter of fact, African-American men come up to me already sensing I am mixed/Caribbean and make it a topic of conversation right off the bat.

Sorry babe but I have been to Dominican Republic and the hatred for darkskinned non mixed black people is COMPLETELY on another level!!

There is straight up segregation. Blacks are complety excluded from certain venues. don’t come here and talk *****.

That was the most disturbing country I have ever visited. Issues so deep and so painful on too many levels to express.

And incidentally—That is why so many black americans think serena is gorgeous, and the trwo people on this board representing dominican republic insist she is ugly. You insist even when it their beauty is staring you in the face, calling it ‘airbrushing’. you see it, but can’t bare to embrace it.

When I visit the D.R., there’s still a mentality of the more European features you have, the straighter your hair and the lighter skin you have, the more beautiful you are.

here in America, African-Americans are pretty much the same.

at the end of the day though, I dont think num1dominicano was being racist.

there are plenty of light-skinned women who are ugly, for example beyonce. yes I said. the girl ain’t pretty, you are all just color struck. and plenty of darker-skinned women who are gorgeous like gabrielle union. it’s not about color, pretty is pretty.

I know many of you will get offended thinking an attack on these ugly twins is an attack on black beauty. it’s not. i’ve seen plenty of pretty black women (caribbean, african, american). and I refuse to be politcally correct and call these girls physically beautiful when YOU ALL KNOW THAT IF THEY WERE WALKING DOWN THE WAL-MART AISLE ALL THE MEN (BLACK, WHITE,LATINO) WOULD LOOK AWAY AND MAYBE STARE AT THEIR BOOTIES THEN STILL LOOK AWAY IN DISGUST.

I am not asking anyone to say all Black women are beautiful and she knows it. I specifically pointed out what num1dominicano insinuated by his statement ’she was dark as an eggplant BUT pretty’. Notice how homegirl didn’t even address that! I already know why but she can’t seem to ADMIT why. It is very sad to me. How do you grow up Black and around Black people who love you but YOU HATE HOW MOST BLACK PEOPLE LOOK? Most of us look more like Serena than Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, Ciara, Christina Milian etc. so why do too many of us gravitate towards euro beauty while dismissing our own beauty?? It is disturbing…

I would say “she looks beautfiul” but instead I’m going to say “The airbrushing was done fabulously”
