    Nas is hot….

  • I’m Just Me

    WOW!!! That is real!

  • LdyK

Very deep …and long…all in all a good message. MTV wont paly it with out the blurs and usual MTV ish censorship!

  • as seen on t.v.

this is what made hip-hop great…

  • shanmo

    This was deep.

  • Ms.Brilly

    long as hell… but I like it. I like the direction he’s taking. Love the song. CAN’T… WAIT… FOR… THE… ALBUM… TO… DROP..!!!!!!

  • Brook Lynn Chocolate Gyrl

Such a cute couple. Kelis always looks fly….

  • http://www.myspace.com/ocky_j Octavia

It coulda been stronger. Hope this was just a precursor to all the real ish the album is gonna delve into.

  • http://qhealthzone.com Jay Harris

Tight! Nas is in my FAV 5 MCs!

  • iheartchicken

This is a return to the true essence of hip hop. The time when hip-hop was the CNN for the hood.

  • young.g

Nas jacked this concept from Spike Lee… not mad at him though, still looks hot.

  • so-so

LOVE KELIS HAIRSTYLE STILL..IT SUITS HER WELL!

  • so-so

LOVING KELIS HAIR ATYLE STILL..IT SUITS HER WELL.

  • NoWay

This is fire but the hook was borrowed from Eazy E. RIP.

  • InsertDopeWordsHere

    Hot!

  • ChileBoo

Nas took a risk putting this message out, which is more than I can say for these other lames. The video was strong, but it could’ve been stronger…budgeting maybe? Anyway, it delivered the message and that’s all that matters.

  • http://www.myspace.com/redsindc redsindc

damn Kelis….that ass is looking jive tende….like a surlion!!!

  • http://www.myspace.com/redsindc redsindc

    **tender…..like a surlion!!**

  • Brooklyn, Stand UP!

I got a feeling that this is gonna be a very hot album. This dude is real.

  • Slide Like A Fresh Pair of Gators (fka Keepin’ It Real – D’Original)

Finally a Major Rap Artist doing something with his power & influence…

*I had no idea he was gonna do a video for it too…

I’m sick of this “fantasy” bulls#it = expensive cars, bottle popping, a$$ shakin’, etc.. being shown ALL OF THE TIME!!!

Ever since “the man” got his hands on our music it’s never been the same…

Big-ups to Nas for using his voice to provoke thought & discussion…

Do the knowledge and get your head out of your a$$es…

I’m a fan of all kinda hip-hop music but for some time now it’s been devoid of any “realism” and serious and/or the “upliftment of Black” type content…

  • kigali aka Weaves R4 Trannies

Someone has to explain this to me. I dont really get what the message is.

  • http://en.gravatar.com/avatar/522ae813d0291146b3c70cd56c2834f3?s=80&r=any NIKKI UNDERWOOD

    Brooklyn, Stand UP!….

    Are you Joey?

  • statim08

That is so old. Stick that fork in it.

  • Suga Mo

DAMN, these N*iggas again…. Psych! Nas is trying to single handedly reincarnate hiphop.

  • kigali aka Weaves R4 Trannies

    @Chileboo,

“Nas took a risk putting this message out…”

    Whats the message again?

  • DC_Diva

The video and song are just as dumb and ignorant as

GLOK9N. There is no point that anyone can comprehend other than (as GLOK9N’s racist, disgusting ass just showed) giving people an excuse to use the N word and disrespect African American leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Harriet Tubman, Benjamin Banneker, Miles Davis, Billie Holliday, Dorothy Dandridge, Madame C.J. Walker, and our future president, Barrack Obama, and all African Americans in general. Call people how they should be called…by their name.

  • Celebrity CSI

Freedom of speech at it’s hottest hour. July 15th is on speed dial. lol

  • Momo

Definitely a deep message but leave it to the one and only to be real like this. Them other folks are so worried about what they have materialistically that the real issues aren’t even a twinkle in their eyes.

  • Celebrity CSI

Ms. Philly …that would read nigge(r)s. Don’t forget & Thank you lol

  • jerishere

I’m really starting to dig Nas’ usage and public “owning” of the word… I didn’t like it at first but now I feel his work will have the effect of diminishing the strength of negativity associated to the word…It’s social therapy and it’s wonderful. Thanks Nas! :D

  • I’m Just Me

    @ Cage

    LMAOOO!!

    WHAT UP BROOKLYN!

  • N

    LOVE HIM!

  • Detroiter4Life

Okay I’m feelin and understanding what he’s saying but I must ask……”Isn’t there a better way to convey what he’s sayin!?!”

@ Slide Like a Fresh Pair of Gators (love the tag)

I agree with you it’s refreshing in the sense it’s not the same BS about cars, money and girls……..in the real world life is way more than that! I LOVE he’s speaking out and making you think and sparking conversation I hope more choose the path he’s taking!

I like what Nas had to say about Obama too, this young man is on his A game that’s for sure!

  • glok9n

@DC DIVA! FUK YOU! YOU DUMB IGNORANT AZZ NIGGR!CALL YOU BY YOUR NAME?…..OK NIGGR I GOTCHA …IMMA THROW IN A EXTRA NAME FOR YA …NIGGR BYTCH!

  • What the….

Serious topic…but it seemed like it was 3 minutes of city shots, 5 minutes of just showing people’s faces…and then something happened where a boy and a white man and then nuthing…is this to be continued?

message is still is raw though..i doubt mtv will play it until after obama wins.

  • REAL MUSICA

—-> MS. PHILLY said it best!

(You have to be ignorant to say this song is ignorant!) ☻

Really though…when I first heard this song I was immedaitely feeling it. Refreshing and yes he took a chance, these rappers now a days are a sad sight generally …

  • DaPro

The word isn’t going anywhere. The message isn’t in the word but in learning the HIS-Story of the word.

When you shed light on a subject those who have been in the dark squint because the light hurts

  • unemployed

    It’s the year 2008, right.

These fools live in the past. I feel sorry for these fools. Spike Lee is included.

La Sharpton and La Jackson are also fools. They live off racism.

    I pity the fools.

  • DaPro

We as Blacks are too dumb, def, and blind to see what has been done to us over the course of 400+ years and counting. He put it plain so that even a baby would understand!

  • I’m Just Me

    @ umemployed

Hey…maybe you not learning your history and knowing the truth as to what is going on out here is the reason you are unemployed. SMDH!!!

  • Detroiter4Life

    @ I’m just me

LMAO! I guess he/she set him/herself up for that one! ;o)

  • Detroiter4Life

In reference to the tag “unemployed” that is……;p

  • DaPro

    @ I’m just me

    LMAO

    Let em know sis

  • anchored and the wire needs a movie

    foolishness

  • http://www.yuvutu.com badboy1467

if any black person goes and buy this album is an UNCLE TOM, this is a perfect time for us to show this bastard, if we don’t buy he won’t make another one. to all the black people don’t go out there and buy this garbage. this is the greatest disrespect. send this a asshole a message. he doing this for promotion.he is one of the best mc but this is’nt the way to do it. once again send him a message.

  • willow

I HATE THIS WORD and the hook is whack.

The message in the song is decent. Hip hop is dead and Nas is contributing to it with this gimmick.

  • Hate In ’08

Finally something Hate In ’08 loves, and I don’t mean the chick whose leg I came on the other day.

Kudos to Nas for this track and this video. We know its not going to get any airplay on MTV or BET, which is sad, but we need this right here, right here. Say what you may, but it is certainly better than “Yahhh Trick Yahh” by Soulja Boy or “Lollipop” by Weezy F. Baby. BTW, how gay is Lil Wayne that he has to preface that song with “No homo?” Just the fact that he needed to say that at the beginning illustrates to me his insecurity with his manhood. No homo, but you kiss your daddy? Whatever, FAG.

Anyways, back to Nas and this track. This is good stuff Mr. Jones. I’m definitely going to check for the album in July.

  • serene

The video itself is good. i don’t agree w/ the message, and my fear is that WHATEVER the message is (i don’t know what it is) might get lost out there. Remember majority of music is buy my whyte boys in the surburbs….i don’t like it.

  • De

I thought Kelis was more intelligent than to hook up with an illiterate, ignorant buffoon.

  • kigali aka Weaves R4 Trannies

    @INTRODUCING Me,

Youre the only person who has put forth an argument on what Nas’s message is supposed to be. Thanks. Everyone keeps saying he has a message but fail to articulate what the hell the message is. I can indetify with both sides of the issue. The socalled N-word is like black folks dirty laundry and I can see how many blacks dont want it to be mainstreamed.

On the other hand there are just people regardless who will always demean blacks because of racism. There are people who will always have a negative view of blacks regardless of how often they hear the word. Again, its just racism.

Fifty years ago, if I were to call you black, that would have been considered offensive. Now Black is Beautiful. The N-word has a history and no one has a monopoly or exclusive rights to be able to define it and reject completely or to define it and celebrate it.

I’ve always believed that the common use of the word has taken away its venom but its all about context and intent.

  • innocent bystander

    @ INTRODUCING

I COULDN’T HAVE SAID IT BETTER. I’M JUST SCARED THAT THE “MSG” WILL GET LOST.

YES WE CAN, YES WE DID, YES WE WILL!!! OBAMA’08

  • glok9n

@INTRODUCING ME! THANK YOU ME SKOOL THESE NIGGRZ…STICK AND STONES YADA YADA…..NAMES WILL NEVER HURT ME! I LOVE YOU PPL HERE !

  • http://en.gravatar.com/avatar/f440215aabbdc8dc2ff5337fac6a99b9?s=80&r=any Riley

I’m so glad he made a video. Can’t wait for the album to drop

  • tracey

I hope he doesn’t make any money off of this trash. This song is trash and will not receive too much airplay due to its inflammatory speech. I heard the song and became infuriated and had to turn it off after hearing the lyrics. I will not support such derroagtory speech. It is ignorance and they need to burn those jackets that they so proudly wore at the grammy’s. I also hope def jam drops him after this album.

  • rachel still sweet 25th/2008

Not impressed ….just makin more money off ghetto exploitation…

    shame !!!

  • CRITICXTREME::

Nas spits the truth on this one. Many of you may not feel it because of the distractions that currently in your face but one day it will hit you like a ton of bricks. Don’t think racism still exists?? Ask those who’ve been murdered and shamed into hiding. To those of you black folks who think that you’re white, one racist attack towards you will hopefully wake you up and will definitely change your whole outlook and remind you that you’re a Nigg*r.

  • luvchild

IMO there are many different messages in this song about the word N*gger.

The main message I get from this is that people of other ethnicities/races love to use the word n*gger. They like it when blacks call them this (they believe they are down), & they use it now amongst themselves.

Nas is letting them know they can be a N*gger, anyone can, & this is what your membership includes

‘they like to strangle n*gger’s, blaming n*gger’s, shooting n*gger’s, hanging n*ggers, still you want to be a n*gga too.’
