IMO there are many different messages in this song about the word N*gger.

The main message I get from this is that people of other ethnicities/races love to use the word n*gger. They like it when blacks call them this (they believe they are down), & they use it now amongst themselves.

Nas is letting them know they can be a N*gger, anyone can, & this is what your membership includes

‘they like to strangle n*gger’s, blaming n*gger’s, shooting n*gger’s, hanging n*ggers, still you want to be a n*gga too.’

Nas spits the truth on this one. Many of you may not feel it because of the distractions that currently in your face but one day it will hit you like a ton of bricks. Don’t think racism still exists?? Ask those who’ve been murdered and shamed into hiding. To those of you black folks who think that you’re white, one racist attack towards you will hopefully wake you up and will definitely change your whole outlook and remind you that you’re a Nigg*r.

I hope he doesn’t make any money off of this trash. This song is trash and will not receive too much airplay due to its inflammatory speech. I heard the song and became infuriated and had to turn it off after hearing the lyrics. I will not support such derroagtory speech. It is ignorance and they need to burn those jackets that they so proudly wore at the grammy’s. I also hope def jam drops him after this album.

Youre the only person who has put forth an argument on what Nas’s message is supposed to be. Thanks. Everyone keeps saying he has a message but fail to articulate what the hell the message is. I can indetify with both sides of the issue. The socalled N-word is like black folks dirty laundry and I can see how many blacks dont want it to be mainstreamed.

On the other hand there are just people regardless who will always demean blacks because of racism. There are people who will always have a negative view of blacks regardless of how often they hear the word. Again, its just racism.

Fifty years ago, if I were to call you black, that would have been considered offensive. Now Black is Beautiful. The N-word has a history and no one has a monopoly or exclusive rights to be able to define it and reject completely or to define it and celebrate it.

I’ve always believed that the common use of the word has taken away its venom but its all about context and intent.

The video itself is good. i don’t agree w/ the message, and my fear is that WHATEVER the message is (i don’t know what it is) might get lost out there. Remember majority of music is buy my whyte boys in the surburbs….i don’t like it.
