Who are these people that are buying? Is this internet sales? Store sales? Who is driving to the store to buy cds and what store is this that are selling any cd like hotcakes. Major cd stores are closing down. If the everyone bootlegged from the internet where are the sales?

I’m 39 years old and my daughter had me listen to song on his joint where he’s talking about being mis-understood. He started talking about Al Sharpton, I was laughing my @ss off!!! Now, when the boy raps I can’t understand him but when he was on 106 and Park the other day promoting his c.d. the boy talks with a lot of sense.

Fact is, I’m not surprised at all. Lil Wayne is more than a rapper, he’s a walking story. Personally I’m not much of a fan of his music, but the guy has that “it” factor right now, with all the alleged tales of drug abuse, suspect gay behavior and most of all, his penchant for making hits. I’m not sure if this was intentional, but Wayne is beyond just being a rapper, he’s a personality much like Kanye West is a personality, you’re buying the Wayne brand along with the music. I don’t even really listen out for Wayne’s music yet I know of a ton of songs either on mixtapes or bootlegs. That’s why Wayne is selling, plus he’s in our face 24 hours a day on TV. I’m not shocked at all. It’s actually a good thing if you’re a fan of hip hip.

Man, the Carter III is seriously off the hook. Let me tell you, I’ve never been a huge fan of Weezy. My sis and all my friends are fanatics and I’m like I just don’t get it…well, I got the cd and I haven’t taken it out of the cd player once and I’m addicted already. The cd is REALLY REALLY GOOD! He really is one of the best rappers alive…and Mr. Carter(track 2) is ALWAYS stuck in my head and you’ve got to hear what Jay-z says. All I have to say is anyone who doesn’t like the cd…you must not be giving it a chance b/c if this can make me a fan after never really caring before then he’s really that good. GO WEEZY F. hmmm i have been hearing a lot of positive reviews about this album..i will be making my way to Target later.

Target & Best Buy always have the new music for $9.99 the first week out..i drive to the store at least once a month to buy cd’s.. at $9.99 i can’t lose.

I stated in the post the other day about Weezy’s strong fan base and apparently I (and others who disagreed with the critics having an effect on album sales) were right. Not one of the 400,000+ that copped the album (N.E.R.D. was first priority) but that’s a hellava milestone for him.

At first I gave the album a 4 of 5 but I change that to a 3 of 5 after listening to it for a week. I only really like about 5 songs.

I enjoy the album…i have toput it on Random to hear the whole thing because I am constantly repeating Mr. Carter!

The fact that a Hip Hop album can generate over 250K the first week in this age of downloading and bootlegging is an amazing feat.

Another thing about Wayne that makes you want to notice him is that he’s FLAWED and people in the hood or people who grew up in the hood (like myself) can relate to him. Father died young, not much of an education, but look at him, he’s the biggest rap star in the world right now outside of Kanye West and 50 Cent. The other dynamic at work is the white suburban dynamic, Wayne doesn’t market himself to them, yet they will make up over half the sales in the first week. Just being who you are is what the public wants, it confuses me that other record labels havent figured this out. Wayne is on stage throwin bottles, drinkin syrup, threatening DJ’s and look what it’s got him. For the record, he aint the best rapper out right now, not to say he’s garbage because he’s improved MIGHTILY since he started and is on the upper echelon lyrically, but the kid has breathed life back into Hip Hop, the next unknown cat who gets a big budget can owe a lot of that to 50, Kanye and yes, Lil Weezy

Im not a lil wayne fan at all, and am shocked that people find his album to be “great.” Nonetheless I never trust peoples’ taste in music nowadays.

There is no denying that his song lolipop is dreadful, but I will listen to the rest of the album to see if he is worthy of the hype. But I doubt it! And he is incredibly ugly!

He’s selling all those cd’s in the south, look at the breakdown, the west, east and north aint buying that chitlin’ okra and greens ringtone rap.

I would also say Game (west coast Usually holds him down), but pls stop the hate. The problem is the East coast doesn’t have one rapper below 30 that most people will recognize by name ( Cassidy and Fab don’t count)
