Here’s is some nice wholesome family action for this Father’s Day. The Pinkett-Smiths hit up the Kit Kittredge: An American Girl premiere in Hollyweird this weekend.
Happy Father’s Day to all the Daddys out there doing their part.
Obama used Father’s Day as a platform to ride against absent Black Father’s:
“Too many fathers are M.I.A, too many fathers are AWOL, missing from too many lives and too many homes,” Mr. Obama said, to a chorus of approving murmurs from the audience. “They have abandoned their responsibilities, acting like boys instead of men. And the foundations of our families are weaker because of it.”
Accompanied by his wife, Michelle, and his daughters, Malia and Sasha, who sat in the front pew, Mr. Obama laid out his case in stark terms that would be difficult for a white candidate to make, telling the mostly black audience not to “just sit in the house watching SportsCenter,” and to stop praising themselves for mediocre accomplishments.
“Don’t get carried away with that eighth-grade graduation,” he said, bringing many members of the congregation to their feet, applauding. “You’re supposed to graduate from eighth grade.”

After hanging around and paling it up with Tom Cruise (I know that you have to hang around those with the most toys to actually take it to the next level if you’re black in Hollyweird), but these 2 and their children are like Jehovah Witnesses. I saw them on the street, I would cross to the other side. Happy Fathers Day to all, including those mothers and other family members who stepped to fulfill the “Dad” roll and to those Adoptive parents and Big Brother and Big Sister.

This is a beautiful family portrait — I remember how emotional the scene was in The Pursuit of Happyness when Will and his son Jaden found themselves homeless and they were forced to spend a night in a public restroom. Will stayed up all night protecting his boy and the ordeal made him break down. In that scene and throughout the film, I saw the strength of a father’s love. Powerful.
Also, broadcast journalist Ed Gordon launched a new site for fathers and daughters, www(dot)daddyspromise(dot)com. It’s nice.
FYI, from the Chicago Tribune, a quote from Obama’s message today on fatherhood in a South Side Chicago church:
“We also need families to raise our children,” he said. “We need fathers to realize that responsibility does not end at conception. We need them to realize that what makes you a man is not the ability to have a child. It’s the courage to raise one.”

Jaden is cute and he’ll be a natural entertainer as it is in his blood. The older son is very handsome. The little girl is having a rough start, I don’t know if she still suck her thumb but I see braces for her teeth in the future and she will be more beautiful as she get older.
