Gore Knows the Score

We weren’t surprised one bit to learn that:

“Former Vice President Al Gore formally endorsed Sen. Barack Obama, on stage before 20,000 people at a rally Monday night in Detroit. ‘The outcome of this election will affect the future of this planet,’ Gore said at Detroit’s Joe Louis Arena. ‘We’ve got to have new leadership. Not only a new president, but new policies.’ Some in the poltical arena, including Democratic strategist and former Clinton aide James Carville, have tossed Gore’s name into Obama’s running mate hat. The notion, however, seems unlikely, as Gore is likely to decline the position.”

We highly doubt Gore will join the ticket with our man Barack – especially after his lackluster effort in securing the office for himself. But it is nice to see him step up and pledge his support for Obama regardless.

Yes We Can!!!

  • RICBLEU34

I believe Gore would be ideal..then Sen Webb of VA.. America owes Gore.. they know Bush cheated him in FL. I think he’s gained more respect over the past 8 years than he ever had.

  • Sailersun

Well it’s about time!! Hopefully this will make HRC fall back completely…Dang why wasn’t I there…Michigan ROX!

  • Lauren

  • $m♥K.E.Y.

Al gore will make sense of the environment, many politicians do not care

and don’t want to fork over the money to help our planet.

  • lisa

@RICBLEU34: I totally agree with your assessment of the Al Gore situation. I think Gore would be an EXCELLENT choice for VP.

Gore was carrying alot of the Bill Clinton infidelity, travel-gate, whitewater, etc baggage with him. He has came into own, he is passionate about global warming and he has become an elder-statesman of sorts. Again, EXCELLENT choice for VP.

  • I’m Just Me

I love Al Gore man and I am still slightly bitter about how they did him in 2000! His support of Barack is sure to be helpful and positive. I don’t know if he will run with him but I wouldn’t be upset if he did.

  • da darkness

its going to be interesting how China is going to feel about Obama when he comes to office. countries such as China have heavy smog and are a major cause of what Gore and many believe in this day as Global Warming. hmmm! Or what will Obama say to China when they offer a bid to buy Citi Group, Chase, M&T banks, cus it’s coming.

  • Nia

Al Gore’s campaign in 2000 was not at all lackluster. The election was stolen from him…LITERALLY!!! We knew it then and we know it now. Watch “Recount”.

  • Doc

My favorite part of his specch was “In the past 8 years even our cat and dog have suffered from this bad administration” refering to the tainted pet food from china. that was the best endorsmen speech i seen so far.

    Barack 2008,2016

bullet bullet….tonight celtics take all baby!!!!

  • laquisha

You need to STOP on GORE! Okay… People who read this are mostly DEMOCRATIC and you can’t just call him ‘lackluster’ … you got a responsibility with this website… Don’t be ingorant and f*ck up the ticket for US…. People who read your ISH might be dumb enough NOT to vote for Barack if you’ve been CRACKIN on EVERY POTENTIAL VP… NOT COOL…. For ever thing like that you are diminishing ONE time you say OBAMA YES WE CAN… SMH at YOU!

  • ali

I hope you support Obama for his political stance and policies and not just because he is half black. When you call Seantor Clinton ” Those Shady Clintons” you are continuing to divide the democratic party. Obama has the nomination. It is time for democrats to unite and stop focusing on non issues like being “shady”. Obama’s VP is going to be a white man so I would stop criticizing every potential candidate and throw your support to the party. But more importantly, everything anyone says here means nothing unless we go to the polls and vote.

  • Chanel

I love Obama but wheat people dont realize is that he is going to have us paying 15.00 for a gallon of gas within in a year!

    Do your research people.

So sad that this has only 25 comments but stink butt in the club has almost 100. PEOPLE WAKE UP!!

  • MDM.ORG

This morning on the news I saw Barack and Gore together. It was nice to see Gore standing on a political platform, it may work if he was the running mate for Obama. If the Bush family (that darn Jed in Florida- Oh yes he’s thinking of running the next time around) wouldn’t have cheated Gore out of the Presidency, our country wouldn’t be in such a suffering condition now. Technically theres no term limits to be VP once again, but I doubt Gore will go there.

  • And…..(with 5 dots)

I was at this rally lastnight and took my boys to see history unfolding and to show them that they can be more than an athlete or an entertainer. I was disappointed that there weren’t more Black kids in the audience to see this going down.

Gore will not run as his VP. He’s been there, done that, and has moved on to other things. Plus, I don’t think he would want to take another back seat to another president at this point. He is now cashing in on his political capital he has gained over the years. I’m sure life is much less stressful.

  • Ms Sharmaine

    Gore is a smart man!

    Yes We Can!

  • Link9

This is good now but it would have been great if he would have endorse Obama while Obama was battling Hillary. For some strange reason I feel that the Democrats are backing Obama b/c they have to not b/c they want to.

  • And…..(with 5 dots)

@Link 9–either they really didn’t want to endorse him, or they wanted to, and was afraid to come across as a backstabbers. Either way, at this point, any endorsements wouldn’t seem to hold much weight since he is the nominee now.

  • Submerge

The endorsement goes a long way in uniting the democratic party. All democrats love Gore and Barack is now set to start mending the rift in the democratic party that this extremely long battle w/ Hillary caused.

  • n_satiable

@ Link9, I COMPLETELY agree! While this endorsement has obviously made news (and political waves), it seems rather redundant when Obama has already locked in the nomination.

I don’t think Al Gore would be offered (or would accept) the VP nomination. Obama’s platform is one of change, and having Gore as a VP — despite the work he has done since leaving office — may be viewed by many as a step backwards. I DO believe that Gore would accept and excel in a cabinet position working on the environment.

  • Mo

    @link9…

well, duh. Of course Dems that supported Hillary are now supporting Obama. And of course they HAVE to – he’s the Democratic nominee!!!

Unlike a lot of folks who post on these boards, there are a lot of people who felt both Hillary and Barack would make great presidents. You have to choose to vote in a primary, and when your choice doesn’t make it to the nomination, you go with the next.

That’s how it works! They are SO incredibly similar in viewpoints, which Obama made a POINT of saying last night in Detroit…so why wouldn’t you support the one that makes it through?

  • Link9

    @Mo

“well, duh. Of course Dems that supported Hillary are now supporting Obama. And of course they HAVE to – he’s the Democratic nominee!!!”

A person doesn’t HAVE to do anything they don’t want to do. Alot of those Hillary supports are still going to vote for McCain.

Another thing. I also feel that the Democrates are focusing Obama to select Hillary as his VP b/c everytime a Democrate, other Hillary’s, name comes up that Democrate say they don’t want the job. I beleive alot of Democrats want her on the ticket b/c 1. They think Obama can’t pull those ‘white votes’ that he needs, 2. they think Obama can’t pull the ‘women’s vote’ in that he needs and 3. It will help him win those ‘battleground states and swing states’ Like Ohio, Florida, Mighian, Nevada, Indiana and so on.

  • Link9

    @n_satiable

I agree w/ that. Al Gore would make one hell of a cabinet member. I want to see an Obama-Clinton ticket b/c I want to see Hillary go hard and McCain like she did Obama. But I just can’t forgive her for some of the dirty that she throw at Obama and I think Obama hasn’t either. But the Democrates are still going to push him to put her on the ticket b/c of the reason I just stated above. SMH.

  • nicaw

It’s too bad he didn’t make an endorsement during the primary election. I think it was more strategic on his part rather than him having to really choose.

My guess is he didn’t want to alienate the other candidate in the hopes of having one of them help him in his own political pursuits.

I wonder if his endorsement is really needed or required at this point.

  • CJ

    Politics is boring!

  • Bubothehater

This is even weaker than John Edwards endorsing Obambi better late than never. Edwards endorses the guy after it is solidified that Hillary has no chance. Now who is Gore going to endorse, McCain? ALan Keyes?

If they had not blocked the milatary votes in Fl 2000, it would not even had been close for Gore.

  • Bubothehater

Plus, Gore is busy making billions scamming off the environment while travelling in private jets. Why take a pay cut where he may actually have to debate his crazy positions.

  • De

What took Gore so long? Why didn’t he endorse while his former nemesis was still in the race. Endorsing Obama would have meant something. It means nothing now.

  • mya

I wonder does obama need an intern? he simply handsome in that picture
