MJB Does Good Deeds

Mary J. Blige is not stingy with her paper:

Last week, Blige was at the Diane von Furstenberg store in the Meatpacking District when she overheard a girl having a problem at the register. A spy said, “The girl had a dress on hold that she loved, and the bill was $900. She thought it was only $500, and she couldn’t afford it.” Blige told the saleswoman, “Go get the girl. I want to pay for the balance on the dress.” The customer at first declined Blige’s offer but relented after the singer said, “I know what it’s like to want something and not be able to have it. I insist.” The customer wanted to send her a check for the balance, but Blige said, “Just enjoy it. I’m blessed, so let me do this.”

That’s the stuff we like to hear. Kudos to Mary..

Mary can do whatever she wants with her money, but I do agree that I wouldn’t give someone an extra $400 for a DRESS that they obviously couldn’t afford.

Do you know how many times I’ve walked into a store and saw something I really liked, but looked at the price tag and said “No way. This is WAY overpriced for a garment”? That lady should have done the same thing instead of helping Diane von Furstenberg become wealthier while she’s borrowing from her mortgage or rent to purchase a dress.

    That’s just down right ridiculous.

Yes, Mary, you ARE blessed, but my way of helping people like that customer is telling her where they could get a similar dress for MUCH less.
