Life is too short to live and die like this. The good thing is we have the choice not to but we have to make that choice before it’s too late.

Although this story is very sad, I can’t say that I’m surprised. From all accounts, Chris Henry was pretty irresponsible in life, so the fact that he died in an irresponsible manner isn’t that shocking. He had been arrested at least five times since turning pro, and was supsended for 14 games in two seasons. I hurt for all his family and friends who were hoping that he had settled down and matured. It’s always sad to see such a young talent gone too soon.

*Stop attacking the fiance*. An argument is just what it is an argument. Seems to me she was trying to leave the situation. It was he who decided to jump on the back of a moving vehicle. Bad decision. I pray that he has found peace. Will keep his family in my prayers.

That’s what I was thinking. Seems to me like she was initially doing the right thing by trying to get away from him, but he was so hellbent on her not getting away that he jumped in the back of the pick-up truck…how is this totally her fault?

I always tell folks “drama is NOT cute”. Life should not be an episode of the Jerry Springer show. An immature response during an argument took this man’s life. Nothing funny or cute about that.

I bet she regrets it and it will hurt her in the long run raising 3 kids without a father because she wanted to be stupid. No matter what the situation is arguing does not solve anything. This is soooo sad.

I pray that God will provide comfort to their three beautiful children who are ages: ten months, two and three years old. I also pray that the Lord will give his family as well as his fiancee strength, endurance and direction in this tragic incident. My heart immediately became saddened upon reading this story yesterday on another site.

I am left with several questions which I hope in the coming days will be answered. Now, it is my understanding that at the time of this incident Mr. Henry had a broken arm, therefore it is safe to assume that he lost his balance which lead to him falling out of the truck. Therefore, this would mean that his wife to be knew of this injury. If she did why did she not stop the car when he jumped into the back of the truck? In addition, he was found on the side of the road some miles away from his home, did she not think to look back and see if he was still there or not?

It seem’s that towards the start and end of a year that many people die. I understand that people die EVERYDAY, but the grieving process is that much harder when a particular incident could have been prevented.

These preventable incidents remind me of Aaliyah and Micheal Jackson. If the pilot was properly screened and refused the crew’s excessive amount of luggage this would have prevented the plane from being overweight and utimately crashing. Although, Micheal Jackson had no business in taking such a drug the fact still remains that if the doctor had not lost track of time Mr. Jackson would not have fallen into a coma from cardiac arrest.

Well this much is already known. There was a history of turbulence in their relationship. She didn’t stop the vehicle, nor notify authorties once he fell off the vehicle.

Homicide detectives were already involved before Mr. Henry even passed away. I doubt anything comes of it (for a myriad of factors) but she doesn’t look “innocent” by any standard.

The information provided on additional new’s site’s is that Ms. Tonga had no injuries on her body, therefore I doubt very seriously that this was a physical altercation, but strictly verbal. It is normal to argue, because to think that a couple does not is unrealistic. Most people and/or couples argue and make-up later on that day. The only time arguing becomes harmful is if a person begins to threaten, start’s name calling and of course physically assaults the other party to the matter.

Yes, by all accounts Chris had turned his life around. Go to any sports related site and they will echo this statement. The team did take ANOTHER chance on him because he had demonstrated remorse for his past actions. Also, they had the oppurtunity to cut him and elected not to.

The same person who chooses to wear a helmet and smash into other human beings for a living is the same one that assumes he could jump in the back of a moving vehicle unscathed. It is widely known that athletes have a sense of invincibility and they are “risk takers.” Sadly, I could give you a score of athletes that have met similar fates due to this erroneous assumption (invincibility). SMH.

To be honest I can reverse everything you said…just like it was heat of the moment for him it could’ve been the same for her…she could’ve been scared from who knows what…IF I get into with my man and he threatens me or whatever I’m out (which is what she was doing…leaving) and if he decides to run and jump into the back of the truck I’m gonna think he’s crazy and I’d be even more scared at that point…no I certainly would not pull over to see what else he may do to me out in the street.

He could’ve let her go and waited until she came back or called family and said they had gotten into a fight and she’s unstable at the moment….Either way homegirl was trying to leave and he should’ve let her go.

I do not think that Chris Henry is blameless in this situation. We have a tendency to side with the deceased in these things, but in this case, it appears we have to take a closer look.

Back when, people could have domestic squabbles and no one would know about them, but not now. Everything is for sale (Rhianna’s pictures) and everything is known very quickly (Tiger’s scandal).

Electronic and computer blips are stored forever. Cell phone calls and text messages are stored so it’s harder to deny things.

So, if you don’t want your business publicized, you need to be careful of the choices you make and the people you hang out with.

From what I read on her myspace page, she seemed very immature and classless. There could be many speculations about why she took off in that truck, but a couple things stand out very clear, she didn’t care or have enough sense to stop the truck knowing he had jumped on the back of it and she didn’t call the police after he fell out. That’s cold blooded!

In my initial comment earlier I asked those questions regarding if she knew he jumped in the back of the truck, and if she noticed he was no longer there. If she indeed did then why did she not think to stop and check if everything was okay? unless she assumed he just jumped off and went about his business.

You’re exactly right. When having a dispute, it could go either way. but in a situation like this, words can either calm or enflame.

I don’t think he would just go after her if she hadn’t sad something to get him upset. And after seeing how she types on her Myspace page, I don’t give her the badge of smartest, most intellectual person at all.

They both may have been very young in the mind and didn’t know the art of coomunication, and this situation shows just that.

He was given another chance but he did make profound changes in his life. She’ll probably be charged with failure to stop and render aid if it determined that she was aware he hand jumped on and had subsequently fallen. What I am saying is that ONLY Mr. Henry was responsible for putting his life in peril in the first place by jumping in the back of the truck.

I’ve never been a fan of arguing with a mate (I always end up laughing because I think it’s silly), but I agree with you.

I spoke to a friend who told me he has been consistently arguing with his girl lately and he says it’s draining him bit by bit. So I’ll add to your above statement that arguing is also harmful to the overall relationship if you make it a ritual to argue.

If Chris was issuing verbal threats like I’m going to kill u or I’m ef you up his fiance won’t be charged with anything-IN MD verbal threats are taken seriously-I can’t imagine him just riding in the back of the truck and saying oh what a beautiful day!

Wow…this is sad and tragic. RIP to Chris and condolences to the family. This may have already been mentioned but:

Chris also had a broken arm (why he was away from the team), and this could have contributed to him falling out of the truck or not being able to protect his head during the fall.

Also, the truck is a smaller Ford Ranger type truck which appears to have been raised about 10-15 inches, very small bed as well. So pretty much ole girl had to know he was in the back of the truck.

The reports keep saying he was “found” lying in the road, you’d like to think that even if they were having an argument, if she saw him tumble out and crash in the road (with an already broken arm) that she would have been the one to call the police.

@MS EJ, Only thing when you make your sweet potato pie bake the sweet potatoes instead of boling them , it brings out the flavor better and just use a mixer and make sure you season with nutmeg cinnamon and brown sugar and dont forget the carnation milk or some type of evaporated milk.. i use carnation which is what my mom used from her mom and on and on !! No store bought pie can compare to homeade sweet potato pie!! I use the store bought crust though.. Pie crust in the dough form and i roll it out myself and flour it and brush it with butter to make it flaky.. forget that already made pie crust .. too dry!! i hate dry!!

No matter what anyone has to say the facts are this:

Although she may not have intended this to happen. If someone is hanging on to the back of a truck it may be time to roll up the windows stop the truck and call the police (if you are in fear). For him to fall off and die from the injuries she must have been driving erratic like weaving and going fast. She should be investigated fully just like anyone else involved in a domestic dispute where someone dies. It sounds like atleast involuntary manslaughter. This could have been avoided that makes it a tragedy.

@MADE IN NY- I understand I was just stating in general that it is not abnormal, because everyone will not agree, especially couples. Many arguements are loud and involve the use of profanities, but not all. I was raised where my parents did not argue around me or my sibilings. I only heard three arguments growing up with my parents. They would have discussions or disagreements while we were away or in the car. That is why I can not deal with those who have a problem, but want to get loud and make a scene (I dealt w/one person like that NEVER AGAIN so embarrassing). Pull me to the side, but do not cause a scene.

MS EJ, you wash the taters.. (im getting Southern on you now), then you rub them in olive oil or vegetable oil, whatever you have around, then you can wrap them in foil or leave them open , its ok either way as long as you have them oiled they wont crack or break open.. just make sure you season the potaotes when they are done after mixing them with a mixed. add the cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar ana milk and a lil melted butter! whne you pour them into the pie crust .. bake them at 350 degress for 35 to 40 minutes and you are ste.. oh dont forget to pinch the crust with the folk to make the indents .. that always makes it look so regal!! @ SORYY AUNTIE VIV.. didnt mean to make your mouth water!!! What about toasted pecans.. oh wee my mouth is really watering now.. i betta shush for the moment!!

It’s weird because I have the same palette. It mostly occurs after I eat lunch, but I always seem to want something sweet. Cookies, candy bar, something…it doesn’t have to be a full out dessert either, just something with sugar. I was reading this book called ‘Skinny B.i.t.c.h.’ and they kind of touched on why this happens. It’s something that can be controlled if you try, but it’s not easy…lol

It’s a combination of habit and being somewhat addicted to sugar. I’ve tried to eat things like dried cranberries or other fruits just for the sweetness but like you, I kind of want chocolate most of the time. I heard that if you cut out carbs and sweet things all together, this craving can be curbed. It takes discipline.

Well, in my opinion, all women aren’t crazy…I think a lot of what men put em through makes them that way, though…And to be honest, guys do some pretty crazy stuff themselves….(I have personally went to a club in my pajamas and slippers and carried a chick I was dating outta there just because I got ticked off before…So yeah, we do dumb stuff too!! LOL!!!)

@daywalker, you are right , you guys do some dumb stuff.. i had an ole Bf who was so hooked, we use to go to this bar to shoot pool> They had a football pool where you put your name in the square after you pay, this fool bought 7 squares and filled them in with good pu–y lu!! and everybody said ., who is that and this fool ,looks over at me and i was so embarrassed for him not me!! not to mention the good pu–y square won and that fool kept the money.. he won 200 hundred dollars off that name.. what a jerk!
