Ice-T Makes a Good Point
Posted by Bossip Staff
Ice-T says that Soulja Boy is the murderer of Hip Hop:
“Fu*k Soulja Boy! Eat a dick! This ni*ga single handedly killed Hip Hop. That sh*t is such garbage man. We came all the way from Rakim, we came all the way from Das EFX, we came all the way from motherfu*kers flowing like Big Daddy Kane and Ice Cube, and you come with that Superman sh*t? That sh*t is garbage. Hurricane (Chris) take them fu*king beads out of your hair ni*ga! Man up. You ni*gas is making me feel real fu*king mad about this sh*t.”
That sounds like some comedy for real. SMH at Ice-T picking on those poor little kids. We know lil Soulja Boy is somewhere pissed…especially since he thinks he’s hotter than Kanye, Weezy, and Hova. Poor thang.

oh my….
As Much As I Hate To Say It I Agree With Ice T.
I See He’s Pimping Out His Wife As Usual.
he did have one of the best reality shows, it was almost like the show was straight outta Rich Pryors mind. the 2-g version of “the toy”
well at least his white woman got real backs, cause we know the
rest is all plastic….
Whoa Ice-T…as you dust your wife’s azz…
I agree with what he is saying about Soulja Boy’s bumpy face arrogant for no reason *****, but I really like the Hurricane Chris CD.
IF IT’S ONE TIME I AGREE WITH ICE T, THAT SOUTHERN MUSIC IS GARBAGE..ONLY THING I LIKE FROM THE SOUTH IS T.I. AND SHAWTY LO..OUTKAST THEY FELL OFF..ALL THE REST IS STRAIGHT GARBAGE.
…and he does have a valid point. Soulja Boy is terrible. Do I think he needs to go to Hip Hop death row for killing the music? Not necessarily, unless he’s taking all the other wack “rappers” with him…
I agree yet Ice T killed Law and Order….
speak the true Ice t that fugly souljah done *****ed up Hip-hop.
I can’t believe I can agree with IceT! but then again he looks like a reject from Shaft and he talking..
“Hurricane (Chris) take them fu*king beads out of your hair ni*ga! Man up. You ni*gas is making me feel real fu*king mad about this sh*t.”
THIS COMING FROM A ***** THAT’S BEEN ROCKING A PONYTAIL FOR THE LAST 40 YEARS. SMH
“cash flow” -ace hood, pain, ross. dats my *****. “when I come see ya” soulja boy tough. he did it so big that even king James Labron was steppin to his tracks.
Soulja Boy mof definitely did as well as lil momma, mims, D4L, DJ UNK, and that other dance BS. I don’t think Hurricaine quite falls into that catagory
we living in the best times of music sorta.
what up smokey!!!
at least he is telling the truth, hes not lying… *****s is killing hip hop, why do yall think pac and biggie are so missed. and mind you this ***** here was running with nwa eazy e he was with all theREALL HIP HOP NARTIST WHEN THEY WERE STRUGGLING TO GET HIP HOP AND GANGSTA RAP OFF THE GROUND SO THIS PROBABLY DOES ***** HIM OFF
PLEASE HE IS THE ***** ON LAW AND ORDER, THATS WHY THEY HAVE KEPT HIM AROUND SO LONG… WHO ELSE TO PLAY ON A #1 AWARD WINNING SHOW WITH SEVERAL EMMYS AND NOMINATIONS, NO ONE OTHER THAN FORMER “***** THE POLICE ATTITUDE , ICE TEE, THE ORIGINAL GANGSTA
i feel ice-t.
but soulja boy is not the reason for the decline of hip hop and neither is the south for all you down south haters. who is responsible are the executives that put out the music. Mr.Collipark and people like him are responsible for that garbage. but bubble gum rap has always had a place in hip hop its just now it is flooding the entire genre. just like dj greg street said hip hop and the dj is not dead. the executive is dead cuz they dont know whats hot. their just in it to make dough.
THATS NOY HIP HOP, THATS JUST PURE CROSSOVER RAP!! SO SOULDA MAN DID SUPERMAN AND THEN HERE COMES CHRIS TALKING ABOUT GET SILLY WITH, SO HE WANTS US TO GET SILLY WITH A SONG THAT ALREADY HAS A DANCE MOVE PUT OUT BY A CLOSE FREIND… WOW HIP HOP IS DEAD!!!!
Shayshay
well said, well said ….
i have to agree with him on that one…idk i wouldn’t say he murdered it…more like it was life support and he pulled the plug…
Ice-T needs to STHU! yeah the music is trash …but I guess he forgot they’re YOUNG 17/18 BOYS and the “music” they’re doing is what THEIR generation likes! they didn’t grow up listening to Rakim & Big Daddy Kane. It was more like Hot Boys & No Limit Soldiers!!!! If you don’t like it, don’t listen to it, change the dial ..shyt that’s what I do!!
AND THAT PLIERS HAVE TAKEN WOMEN BACK 40 YEARS WITH THIS DEGRADING SONG “BUST IT BABY”…I FIND THAT SONG SO DISRESPECTFUL..HE SEEMS TO HAVE A PROBLEM CALLING A BLACK WOMAN BY HER NAME FIRST SHE WAS SHAWTY NOW SHE’S A BUST IT BABY…WHERE THEY FIND THAT IGNORANT ***** MAN..
I DON’T PICK ON LITTLE KIDS THAT IS *****KED UP. WE NEED TO SUPPORT OUR CHILDREN AND HELP THEM TO BECOME BETTER INSTEAD OF PUTTING THEM DOWN. ALL THESE SO CALLED GREAT RAPPERS COULD GIVE THE BOY SOME TIPS BUT THEY CHOSSE TO GO TO THE MEDIA AND ***** ON THESE KIDS. FIND SOME CL***** ICE TEA. SAY WHAT YOU WANT TO BUT PEOPLE ARE BUYING HIS *****, THE KIDS LOVE IT, IT’S THEIR MUSIC JUST LIKE WE HAD OURS GROWING UP. IF GROWN ***** PEOPLE WOULD SPEND MONEY AND SUPPORT THE MUSIC THEY LIKE WE WOULD HEAR MORE OF IT BUT Y’ALL CHOOSE TO BOOTLEG AND DOWNLOAD EVERYTHING AND THEN GET MAD WHEN KIDS HIT #1. YOU DON’T SEE MADONNA *****ING ON MILEY SIRIS. BLACK PEOPLE ARE SAD.
ICE IS DRESSED LIKE HIS FATHER THE DEVIL.IT IS TRULY TIME OUT FOR HIM AND BOTOX BARBIE.HE NEED TO P***** THE TORCH NOW!!!!!
Ice T couldnt act his way out of a traffic ticket…
WOW! Harsh!! but im glad somebody said it!!! THANK ICE!!!
I personally think Hurricane Chris n Soulja Boy are garbage, but they didn’t kill Hip Hop. Plus, Ice T is straight trippin’, calm down. They will make those songs and be irrrelevant in no time. They are not the only people that have sucked in Hip Hop, Luke n the 2 Live Crew, I think was a disgrace.
….and personally I never liked Ice-T’s music anyway. He might have ruined it for us all.
Legends always shine above the rest.
Plus, I bet his son loves both these dudes.
Also, tell your girl to stop looking like a ho.
hip hop was *****ed up LONG before soulja boy. it started right about 1997-98 when the south started taking over.
i agree w/ Nat Turna AND Ice-T….Soulja Boy is horrendous and listening to “soulja girl” made my stomach turn.
I blame both the money grubbing record exec and Soulja Boy:
Soulja Boy for coming up w/ the bull***** he thinks is rap and Mr. Collipark for co-signing…
But you cant blame the south for the decline of hip hop. Blame the NEW rappers, the formula rappers from ALL regions of America.
Remember “Chicken Noodle Soup” and “Lip Gloss” came from right here in NYC…
@da Darkness,
If We Are Living In The Best Times Of Music, Then You Must Have Just Been Born. Music Is At The Weakest Point In My Memory. There Is A Lot Of Good Talent Out There That Doesn’t Get Air Play. Instead We Have To Listen To This Weak Garbage That Is Constantly Being Crammed Down Our Throats.
TRUTHFULLY, HIP HOP WAS ALREADY ON LIFE SUPPORT, IN CRITICAL CONDITION. IF SOULJA BOY HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE DEATH OF IT, HE JUST SO HAPPENED TO BE THE ONE TO PULL THE PLUG. NOW THE REST OF THEM ARE JUST BEATING A DEAD CORPSE.
I agree, soulja boy cant rap fo *****. Preach my brotha!
OHMIGOD, I actually agree with Ice T.
I can not tolerate listening to hip hop these days. I grew up in the 80’s and 90’s. I had Run DMC. Eric B & Rakim, LLCool J, Big Daddy Kane, Salt N Pepa, I even had a Fresh Prince album. Then NWA, Ice Cube, The Doc, Hammer (Don’t laugh, I loved his first album. The last hip hop cd’s I bought was TI’s I have all three of his cd’s. UMMM UMMM, That’s about it. Kanye is alright. TO ME, he is one of those artist that you just want to hear on the radio, He is not someone I actually want to go out and buy his album and play all the time. Like I did T.I. I am just not into it anymore, maybe I am just getting old.
THANK U ICE I
I HAVE TO SAY..I AGREE WITH U!
HIP HOP IS GARBAGE PRETTY MUCH RIGHT NOW
CAN I ADD SOME PEOPLE TO YOUR LIST?
FLORIDA
SHAWTY LO
THAT ONE CHICK THAT SINGS”GOOGLE ME” TRASH

STOP PIMPING OUT COCO..ICE..PLEASE! I AM TIRED OF SEEING HER FAKE @SS CHEEKS
WHAT IS THIS HIP HOP IS DEAD *****???????????? HIP HOP IS MORE POPULAR THAN ITS EVER BEEN BEFORE. THERE IS A COMMERCIAL FEATURING WILL SMITH’S “SUMMERTIME”. RAP IS EVERYWHERE IN EVERY FORM AND IF IT WAS DEAD HOW COULD YOU BLAME IT ON A 18 YEAR OLD WITH 1 ALBUM?????????
Damn i gotta agree with Ice-T on that.. But Nat Turna and Shayshay got it right to… Blame the bum ***** *****s givin these bum ***** artists the spotlight…. The game is backwards nowadays but oh well.. Thank god for mixtapes….
Happy Wednesday Peoples!!!!
SO TRUE..
BUT, THOSE SONGS ARE CATCHY.
BUT YEA.. HE SHOULDA MENTIONED “MY DOUGIE” AND “GET SILLY” AS WELL!!!

PANAMA
THANK U
I HATE THAT DAMN SONG..GET SILLY
OOOHH
@Teedy
Rap is NOT more popular than its ever been…Its more COMMERIALIZED and FORMULAIC than ever before…there is major difference…
If it was popular, then you would have been hearing a biggie song in the commercial, not damn radio friendly Will Smith….
@ TEEDY
WE HAVE TO RESPECT YOPUR COMMENT, BUT SERIOUSLY I DONT SEE SOULDA LISTEENING TO ***** ICE HAS TO SAY AND YOU KNOW!!! TAKE BOW WOW FOR INSTANCE ALL THE KNOWLEDGE JD HAS TRIED TO INPUT IN HIM AND HES STILL RECKLESS IN MAGS SAYIN JD WINT LET HIM DO HIM AND VENTURE OUT… HELL THIS STUFF YOU TALKING WOULD HAVE WORKED ABOUT 8-10 YRS AGO WHEN CHILDREN STILL MINDED AND LISTENED TO GROWN UPS… HELL NO ONE IS GOING TO WASTE THERE TIME ON THIS MESS
It is not just hip hop. R&B is sucking a lot lately too. What’s up with the non singing singers. How do you go from a Stephanie Mills to a Ashanti? What is really up with music today.
@ MS.SUGA WALLS..GOOD MORNING
WE AGREE! IF I WERE TO START A LIST, MAN IT WOULD BE OF THE PAGE. WITH THESE RINGTONE ARTISTS. AND THEY WONDER WHY THEIR CAREER WONT LAST OUTSIDE OF 2 YRS TOPS. DAMNED SHAME.
@{{ THE INFAMOUS}} Ms. Sugar Walls
Hey, Hey, Hey I like Yo Yo. I think she can rap. I think it was more of the politics and issues, etc. behind the scenes that didn’t work out.

HEY EVERYBODY FROM THE LOU!!!!! HOW IS IT SHAKIN
AND HAPPY HUMP DAY!
Teedy,
I very much agree with you on the fact that he’s picking on some little teenage boys. On the other hand he is telling the truth honestly. Me personally I don’t have children, but I have a lil bro and sis and soulja boy is not what they need to be listening to because he’s a teenager, but his songer are vulgar and shows a lack of intelligence and I wouldn’t let my siblings get fed with that crap called music. I do miss older hip hop which is the only hip hop I listen to today where it was about rhyming not about about killing, selling drugs, and how many women or men you can get in.
I agree with him totally! Everybody says “oh he’s a kid” and “they are children”, but remember NAS was that age when he was spitting that real life, street knowledge on Illmatic.
THERE WAS A TIME WHEN YOUR TALENT DROVE YOU. YOUR ABILITY TO DELIVER CONSISTANTLY, FLAWLESSLY, THOUGHTFULLY, WITH EASE. WHETHER YOUR FLOW WAS CALM, WILD, ECT ECT. YOU HAD TO BE TIGHT. THATS WHERE OUR KRS-1, RAKIM, JAY-Z, NOTORIUS, TUPAC, NAS, MOS DEF, I COULD GO ON AND ON. THERE ARE SO MANY NOTE WORTHY ARTISTS THAT I COULD NAME. SO MANY. THATS JUST TO NAME A HANDFULL. NOW-A-DAYS ITS BASED ON WHO PRODUCED YOU. HOW TIGHT IS YOUR BEAT? CAN WE KNOCK THIS IN THE CLUB? IS YOUR “SONG” COMMERCIAL ENOUGH TO BE ACCEPTED BY ALL AUDIENCES? NEVER MIND IF YOU ARE TALENTED. DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO MAKE THE RECORD COMPANY SOME MOOLAH? AND WHEN THE PEOPLE CAN NO LONGER ROCK DEY HIPS, THEN WAVE AND SIP, YOU ARE DISPOSABLE. A HIT IS SIMPLY THAT. A HIT. BUT TRUE TALENT, AND MUSIC THAT IS MEANINGFUL, LASTS FOREVER!!
OH AND CO-SIGN WITH sickofit
@ INFAMOUS
YOU KNOW MORE THAN ME…. I THOUGHT YO YO HAD ONE AND THE ONLY CUT I REMEMBER SEARCH HAVING IS GAS FACE… I DONT REMEMBER YO YO HAVING THREE HITS… OHHHH YOU ARE COUNTING THE CALABS SHE DID FOR ICE CUBE. SHE CANT HAVE CREDIT FOR THAT
@{{ THE INFAMOUS}} Ms. Sugar Walls
LOL! I think it was “P”….(Yea, I’m telling)
He so angry! Can someone please remind him that Soulja Boy is nothing but a child!!! A Child who make CHILDREN music…its for the kids. We know he is not a real rapper, but all that cursing and what not is not even needed. Get over it.
IT’S NOT LIKE YOU CAN’T FIND HARD CORE RAP MUSIC IF YOU WANT TO HEAR THAT. I THINK THIS CHANGE HAS A LOT TO DO WITH THE MIND SET OF PEOPLE ESSPECIALLY BLACK PEOPLE NOW A DAYS. BACK IN THE 80′S I COULD COUNT ON 1 HAND THE PEOPLE I KNEW WHO HAD CARS AND OWN THEIR OWN HOME AND *****. PEOPLE WERE POOR AND ANGRY BUT NOW BLACK PEOPLE ARE GETTING MONEY AND EDUCATION AND WANT TO HAVE A GOOD TIME. I’M TIRED OF HEARING ABOUT KILLING A ***** OR SLAPING A HOE. THIS MUSIC IS LIGHT AND FUN AND THATS WHAT PEOPLE WANT. IF PEOPLE DIDN’T WANT THIS BELIEVE ME IT WOULD NOT BE OUT THERE. PLUS WHO’S FAULT IS IT THAT THESE KIDS HAVE NO RESPECT??? I WOULD SAY IT’S OUR FAULT BECAUSE WE DON’T HAVE TIME TO RAISE THEM, TALK TO THEM, BE A MENTOR. ALL WE WANT TO DO IS DOWN THEM AND TELL THEM THEY AIN’T ***** AND WILL NEVER BE *****. THATS WHY THEY DON’T LISTEN TO US. IF SOMEONE KEEPS TELLING ME SOME NEGITIVE ***** I’M GONNA STOP LISTEN AND DO ME AND THAT IS WHATS HAPPENING WITH THIS GENERATION.
Although I do with Ice to a certain degree..but people this is coming from a BLACK Man that has his White Wife! bent over all the damn time while he’s playing with her AZZ! im just saying!
Sorry I meant do agree with!
Coming from an Albino with a ponytail perm and a ho-wife I would not care a bit about his opinion. Leave them chillen alone and let them do kiddy rap if they want.
i feel ice-t.
but soulja boy is not the reason for the decline of hip hop and neither is the south for all you down south haters. who is responsible are the executives that put out the music. Mr.Collipark and people like him are responsible for that garbage. but bubble gum rap has always had a place in hip hop its just now it is flooding the entire genre. just like dj greg street said hip hop and the dj is not dead. the executive is dead cuz they dont know whats hot. their just in it to make dough
^5
You’re right, the record companies see hip hop as a way to make money. Remember Soulja Boy started out as an internet star and a record company latched on to him instantly. They put out a terrible album to capitalize off the success of Soulja Boy song. It’s was all about fast cash and now that this way worked for Soulja Boy you’ll see all types of artists trying to duplicate his success. And the kids today fall for all that corny stuff.SMH.
@ Rika from the block: Drop those gems, girl….
It’s all *****ed up now.. You want to know what else is killing hip hop? That division. Divided we fall. Who gave a ***** back in the Day where an artist was from?? If it was hot to me, it was hot.. Down south, west coast, east coast didnt matter. After Big and Pac died it seems like more emphasis is placed on where a rapper is from, not how booty the lyrics are….
Its amazing that T is offended at the ‘Superman’; back in the day before he became a ‘Cop Killa’, wasn’t he promotin’ PEE WEE HERMAN??? I know he didn’t make the song but that was his azz in the video dancin real purty….
@ TEEDY
WE HEAR YOU BUT THE POINT IS NO ONE IS GOING TO WASTE THEIR TIME AND THEY KNOW NO ONE IS GOING TO LISTEN… AND I HATE TO SAY IT BUT JUST TO PROVE MY POINT… HOW MANY CHILDREN MUSIC STARS ARE STILL WHATS UP OR EVEN LIVING A PRODUCTIVE LIFE… EXACTLY!!! SOUNDS LIKE PEOPLE WANT TO BE IN DENIAL ITS NO ONES FAULT THAT CHILDREN ARE HARDHEADED AND DISRESPECTFUL EXCEPT THE PARENTS, ALL THIS ***** STARTS AT HOME, SOULDA BOY IS SITTIN VACK READIN THIS SAYIN “FU*CK ALL YALL IM THE *****” WITH A PAIR OFTHEM FUGLY ***** GL*****ES HES PROMOTING, WHAT A SHAME
Oh and Yo yo should not be gettin too much props.. Back when she dropped Lyte and Latifah were doin it.. Anyone remeber Bahamadia?? That chick could SPIT, she was just ugly as all hell and no one would market her…
Ice-T needs to quit hating on soulja boy!!!
what has he and his fake ***** lookin’ wife done lately???
YOU CAN’T HOLD HIM RESONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING. HE WAS DOING HIS THING HAVING HIS FUN AND SOME PEOPLE CAME ALONG AND SAID YOU CAN MAKE A MILLION DOLLARS OFF THIS SONG IF WE THROW TOGETHER A FEW MORE AND MAKE AN ALBLUM. YOU GUYS TELL ME IF YOUR STRONG ENOUGH NOT TO TAKE THAT DEAL??? WITH THE PRICES OF GAS, I WOULD JUMP ON THAT ***** LIKE A HARD *****.
anonymous(Check me out!)
Its amazing that T is offended at the ‘Superman’; back in the day before he became a ‘Cop Killa’, wasn’t he promotin’ PEE WEE HERMAN??? I know he didn’t make the song but that was his azz in the video dancin real purty….
*DEAD*
lmao!
@ TEEDY
I UNDERSTAND YOU BACKING UP THE YOUTH. THATS COOL. BUT ALL HIP HOP IS NOT ALWAYS HARDCORE. THAT IS NOT EVERY ARTIST’S STYLE. YOU HAD SOME THAT MADE YOU FEEL THEIR ANGER. SOME MADE YOU FEEL THEIR HUSTLE/STRUGGLE. SOME MADE YOU THINK, OR BECOME CONSCIOUS OF THE THINGS GOING ON IN THE WORLD AROUND YOU. SOME MADE YOU WANT TO PARTY. THEN YOU HAD SOME (TUPAC MOST IMPORTANTLY) WHO HAD THE ABILITY TO DO A COMBINATION OF ALL OF THE ABOVE. THE PROBLEM IS THAT NOW (SORRY THAT SOULJA BOY HAD TO BE THE PINIATA IN THIS PARTICULAR PARTY) THESE ARTISTS HAVE NO TALENT. ITS NOT ABOUT HIS ABILITY TO BE HARDCORE. YEAH, HE GETS THE PARTY STARTED. FOR NOW. BUT WHAT WILL WE REMEMBER HIM FOR IN THE FUTURE? IF ANYTHING AT ALL? AND IT IS FOR SITUATIONS LIKE THIS, THAT MAKE NEW ARTISTS FEEL AS THOUGH THEY CAN JUST COME INTO THE INDUSTRY WITH WHATEVER, AND IT WILL SELL. MONEY MONEY. NO ART. NO TECHNIQUE. NO TALENT.
OKAY….BUT ICE T
IS DIFFERENT THAN SOULJA BOY! SUPERMAN IS A BULLSH*T ***** SONG..
COP KILLER. HAD A MEANING!
LIKE NWA: F*CK THA POLICE DUHHH
maybe he hasnt checked the statistics.
the majority of Hip Hop fans these days are young kids.
So, Soulja Boy is in the right place at the right time.
Ice-T probably mad because he tried to do the “SOulja Boy” dance and failed…
CAGE
I REMEMBER HER
SHE WAS UGLY AS HELL, BUT I BET U THAT SHE COOKED HER ***** OFF..
SHE PROBABLY STOOD OVER THE POT SMOKING A BLUNT..BECAUSE HER LIPS WERE EXTRA BROWN! LOL
i dont have a problem with soulja boy and his music cuz it is the music of his generation just like kriss kross was the music of mine. but the only difference is that when kriss kross was out there were alot of other artist that shined lyrically. the entire hip hop scene was not flooded with kriss kross or artist like them. if the record execs put the same energy into promoting arists like talib, mos def, little brother, papoose, saigon, sha stimuli, joell ortiz,etc.etc. then i doubt anyone will say hip hop is dead. hip hop is about going against the grain and telling people the uncomfortable truth. now its all commerialize and gimmicky. hip hop now is taking away from the essence of the music i fell in love with as a kid
I have to DISAGREE, Soulja Boy didn’t kill Hip-Hop…
Soulja Boy is a little boy, what else do you expect for a 16 year old to rap about?
He’s just having fun…
It’s the “white” record executives that KILLED Hip-Hop plain & simple…
They’re the ones that control what we’re exposed to – to some extent (*you have to “keep your ear to the street” via mixtapes and underground radio shows to get exposed to artists who are independent and have sole control of their artistic expression and not what the record company wants and believes what people want to hear)
Once “white” record executives found out that 70% of Hip-Hop is bought by “white” kids – that f#cked the whole game up… Because as business men with NO RESPECT for Black artistic expression they acted just like that (*businessmen) and forced artists to compromise they’re artistry for the almighty dollar…
It’s the “white” executives that KILLED Hip-Hop not “Down South” Artists…
I’m not a fan of most of the “Down South” but that’s just because of MY particular taste in “lyrical content” and “beats”… Maybe if I was from down there I would like that stuff, just like how people in the suburbs like rock & roll…
I’m always down for my people when they’re doing something (legally) to improve their situation…
Ice T is right. Soulja boy and his minions are trash. Why are people mad at Ice T for speaking the truth? Soulja boy is NOT a child. His being a teenager should not excuse the trash rap that comes out of his mouth. Here’s proof:
R.A.W – realeased when Big Daddy Kane was 19
Live at the BBQ- realeased when Nas was 18
Eric B for President – realeased when Rakim was 18
Straight Outta Compton- realeased when Cube was 19
Real Love Remix (with that unforgettable Biggie verse) realeased when B.I.G was 19
Soulja boy, etc are just trash… age has nothing to do with it. They just lack skill and talent and need to get out the studio, go back to school and read a book.
NEXT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CadillaLove,
What is your definition of children’s music? I’m not being offensive, but I really wanna know because Soulja boy is a child yes but have you listened to the lyrics he has provided for “children”
Teedy I feel you 100% on parents need to start doing their jobs. I guess Soulja boys parents just sit back and enjoy the money because they just let their son rap about whateva type of garbage.
My question is this with this new era of music where R&B is now becoming pop, If I’m not a fan of Beyonce, Ashanti, or the other commercialized artists, then it must mean I’m a hater? I’m a person that loves true music like Stephanie Mills, Miki Howard, Diane Reeves, Karyn White, the women who sang acapella for a record deal not sing on a fancy beat to see how many people would dance. Same goes for hip hop nowadays.
and it aint the rapper or the execs fault.
Blame the consumer. Execs go where the consumers go.
So if you dont like the music, stop buying the CDs plain and simple.
Ice T and the rest of you geezers need to stop listening to hip hop.
If you were young enough to remeber when Big Daddy Kane was skinny, then you too old to be listening to hip hop music now!!! lol
@sxyQblondie
I SEE YOUR POINT BUT THESE ARTIST THAT COME OUT AGAINST THESE KIDS DON’T HAVE THE ***** TO COME OUT AND SPEAK AGAINST THE RECORD COMPANY BECAUSE THEY DON’T WANT TO FUCC UP THEIR *****. JUST LIKE I SAID IF SOMEONE CAME TO YOU AND GAVE YOU THE CHANCE TO MAKE A MILLION IN A MONTH COULD YOU TURN IT DOWN FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR ART?? PLUS IT IS OBIVIOUS THAT SOLJA BOY THINKS QUITE HIGHLY OF HIMSELF AND HIS TALENT SO WHO ARE WE TO SAY ITS CRAP JUST BECAUSE IT IS NOT OUR TASTE. JUST DON’T LISTEN NO ONE IS HOLDING A GUN TO YOUR HEAD, TURN THE DIAL.
someone said it earlier but it is true. Simple catchy raps are what’s hot to todays youth. They didn’t grow-up with tapes and rewinding trying to catch what an artist said. Nowadays if you don’t have a catchy hook, and base filled beat its gonna be hard to get radio play.
Some of my favorite “Hip-Hop Quotables” that discuss what we’re talking about:
“Once the man got to her, he altered her native”
- Common Sense
“They know one day we’ll learn how to use it, that’s why they fear our jungle music”
– Jeru the Damaja
“Emcees nowadays forgettin’ that they black, they keep on spittin’ them lyrics that hold their people back”
- KRS One
If you think Soulja Boy killed Hip Hop, You sound old as hell! if u have any children around u like son, duaghter , neice , nephew, cousin you seen those kids happy 2 “Ule”. What about when everybody back in the 90’s was dancing 2 Pickin Booger’s by Biz Markie, did he kill Hip Hop? Let just move on. He (Soulja Boy) just made him some money. Telling a kid 2 suck ur ***** is gay and child phonography. What CoCo aint doing it right?!!!!!
GOOD THING THERE IS DIFFERENT MUSIC OUT THERE FOR EVERYBODY.PEOPLE LISTEN TO WHOEVER THEY LIKE. ICE T’S MUSIC WAS NOT LIKED BY EVERYBODY EITHER.
@LADY ARCHITECT, I MEANT TO MENTION THIS BEFORE BUT FORGOT-YOUR HAIRCUT LOOKS REALLY CUTE. I REMEMBER YOUR OTHER PICTURES WHEN YOUR HAIR WAS LONGER.
I’m sorry, but I agree with Ice. That Southern crap really ruined what hip hop used to be. They make up dumb *****ed songs based off of old nursery rhymes and come up with lyrics that a 5-year-old could scribble on paper. Then to come out the house looking like the hot ghetto messes that they are really *****es me off as a Black person. It’s almost as if slavery ended, but someone forgot to tell those idiots.
I just have to say that what Ice-T said is one of the funniest things I have read on the net all week!! Damn I’m still laughing about it!!
IT WAS FUNNY WASN’T IT??
***** Ice-T hating *****. If hip hop let one person kill it, then it was dead to begin with.
Ice-T is washed up, if Souljah Boy is so was so bad, then why dont your old dumb honkey loving ***** put out a *****ing record.
Souljah boy didnt kill hip hop, he *****ing PIMPED IT. I’m not a huge fan, but I got to take my hat off and give it up for this young mans hustle.
***** ICE-T
@ teedy… NOW YOUR SAYIN SOMETHING, HE PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE APPROACHED THE RECORD LABEL…. BUT IN ALL REALITY. IT DOESNT MATTER WHERE OR HOW YOU START BUT WE ALL NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT HIP HOP.. AND TEEDY IM SURE THERE WERE MANY OTHER PEOPLE HE WANTED TO CALL OUT BUT SOULDA BOY IN HIS STATEMENT WOULD HAVE MADE THE MOST IMPACT…. WE STEADY TALKIN ABOUT A KID, THIS LITTLE BOY IS DOING MORE GROWN UP ***** THEN ME… SO YOU MEAN TO TELL ME HE NEEDED AN ADULT TO TELL HIM HE SHOULDNT BE OUT HERE “SUPERMANING HOES”… SORRY I DONT BUY THAT LIKE YOU SAID EVEN BEFORE ICE TEE SAID ANYTHING, HIS PARENTS SHOULD HAVE SAID TO THE LABEL OR HIS MANAGER, that this wouldnt be acceptable, AND IF THE SAW ALL THESE SO CALLED DOLLAR SIGNS THEN CHANGING A FEW WORDS FOR MORALITY WOULDNT HAVE MADE A DIFFERENCE… NOT ONLY WILL I NOT LISTEN TO IT BUT I CANT.. IM ALLERGIC TO GARBAGE, AND NO HES NOT THE ONLY ONE.. THERES NOT ENOUGH TIME IN THE DAY TO NAME THEM ALL AND YOU KNOW IT
@ TEEDY…….my point exactly. Very well said!!
@Rain Maker
YOU CAN’T DOWN A WHOLE REGION BECAUSE OF A FEW SONGS MOST OF THE HBC’S HAIL FROM THE SOUTH, SO WE CAN’T BE THAT DUMB. YOU SOUND LIKE THE IGNORANT ONE. DID YOU EVEN GO TO SCHOOL?
LMAOOOO!!! Go ahead Ice-T! Tell ‘em like it is! I don’t know if they single handedly did it, but they certainly played a part! For sure! I don’t think people like Three 6 Mafia helped too much either!
Jahpson – Let the truth be told. My parents were saying the same thing about Biggie and Pac. Ladies and Gentlement, you are getting old. Accept it and move one. Like Jahpson, you are probably to old to be listening that ____ any ways. If you are endorsing what Ice is saying, you, like him, need to grow the _____ up! Get a life people. Go pick up a book or something. Geeesh!
Ice T is right. Soulja boy and his minions are trash. Why are people mad at Ice T for speaking the truth? Soulja boy is NOT a child. His being a teenager should not excuse the trash rap that comes out of his mouth. Here’s proof:

@ Ms Brilly: THANK YOU. (And i rarely re-post someone’s ***** but that was on point)
@ K.I.R. – Thank you also…
edit* “Like Jahpson said,”
@TEEDY & CORPERATE
NOW I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THAT. OUR ART HAS BEEN TURNED INTO A “MONEY MAKING” FRANCHISE. AND IT IS BECAUSE OF THEM. IT IS A BAD CYCLE THAT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED, AND YES SOMETHING MUST BE DONE ABOUT THAT.
Thanks cateyes.
Well said corporate. When I start having children I doubt I will expose them to the trash out today or maybe what’s to come.
ALSO COSIGN WITH Slide Like A Fresh Pair of Gators
Hehehehe, ponytail for 40 years LOL
@SHAY SHAY…PLEASE LETS NOT BRING MORALS INTO THIS DEBATE BECAUSE WHEN WE ARE DONE THERE WILL ONLY BE ABOUT FIVE RAPPERS LEFT ON THE LIST WHO ACTUALLY HAVE SOMETHING POSITIVE TO SAY, AND YOU KNOW IT. WHAT SOLJA BOY IS SAYING IN THAT SONG SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING A SILLY KID WOULD SAY OR TRY TO DO. WHAT EXCUSE WOULD YOU GIVE THESE GROW MEN AND WOMEN WHO CAN’T PUT A VERSE TOGETHER WITHOUT A ***** OR A HOE??????
@ CAGE…
OH YOU KICKIN KNOWLEDGE TODAY… GUESS I NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT WHY WE SITTIN HERE MAKIN EXCUSES FOR SOULDA, AND JUST FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO KNOW… ITS NOT JUST THE SOUTH PUTTIN OUT WHACK ***** MISUC, LOOK AT PUFFS LAST ALBUM… AND HE SHOULD KNOW BETTER… NEED I SAY MORE… BUT AGAIN CAGE VERY EXCELLENT POINT
I personally think hip hop was dead long B4 Soulja Boy, along with other on this tread. I never liked Ice T, but he really needs to focus on making his hoe a house wife B4 he goes out in the streets and trash someone else! The south isn’t the only place with garbage for music, so if you wanna talk about that please go towards all sides of the USA. Cause lil Mamma, and old fake azz gangsta Bow Wow, and HAS BEEN singing azz SNOOP (some of his stuff is good but not good enough) are from different parts of the world.
Ice T is speaking truth. Most of the Dirty South rap is really pop in black face. Can we get rappers Mos Def and Common to be the norm instead of the exception. But for real can Coco put come clothes on, chick is always naked.
And at least this music is having people dance with each other and not blamed for killing each other!
@ FELOW HOUSTAN
NOT YET ANYWAY
@SHAKUR-THAT’S WHAT I’M SAYING. MY MOMMA AND DADDY TAUGHT ME ABOUT GOOD MUSIC WHAT ARE WE TEACHING OUR KIDS. DO Y’ALL PARENTS SIT DOWN AND LISTEN TO AND SHARE YOUR MUSIC WITH YOUR KIDS?? MOST OF THE YOUTH TODAY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF MAZE.
This is something I’ve been wondering for awhile now. What do the letters SMH stand for? It’s got me very curious!!! Thanks for whoever solves the mystery for me. I wanna be up on all the current lingo. That one got by me somehow…LOL
PREACH ICE-T, PREACH!!!!! I too think that kid Souljah boy is straight CORN!!! I did think Hurricane Cris was ok though. But, ErrUmmUhh, ICE, how you gone tell that kid Hurricane Cris to “man up” when you been rockin’ a “Conk” with that over processed FonyTail since way way back???? SMH
If you think all southern rapper’s are a joke, stroll down two stories. Someone went platinum in less than a week and he aint from the NYC!
This is why we have choices. I personally don’t like Ice-T music and am free to listen to what I do like. At the end of the day everyone has a choice, hip-hop is not one style, one person, one beat, or one message. And at the end of the day, what should teenagers REALLY be listening to??
SMH = Shaking my head
SMDH = Shaking my damn head
yall r retarded!!!!… how can that b childrens songs with lyrics like that…
even if it was for the kids he should b put on blast for the bull***** hes feeding them..
i agree wit ice t.. that he sucks.. but hip hop was already far gone n crap b4 souljah boi.. oooo i hate that dude.. hes so dumb!!!!
@Fellow Houstonian- DAMN RIGHT! I HAVE YET TO HEAR ABOUT WOMAN DYING FROM GETTING SUPERMANED BUT I KNOW PLENTY WHO HAVE DIED TRYING TO RUN DRUGS FOR THEIR BOYFRIENDS WHICH IS A HUGE THEME IN A LOT OF HIP HOP.
Let me just say for the record that Coco looks like her butt stinks.
Now, hip hop is not dying. I read this great article on Ice Cube in XXL mag, and he sums it up nicely: Hip Hop started in the streets, with underground tapes circulating, while radio was all about “fun songs” with incoherent lyrics that made you want to dance.
Hip hop gained attention from labels, and was played on the radio for a good twenty years, and now we’re right back where it started: Underground CD’s with “real” hip hop, and mainstream artists are making that same dance and bubble gum music.
I applaud this *****ysis, and I honestly am glad we don’t have music with political messages all the time. And while I can’t stand Soulja Boy and his other fellow comrades who make the same cornball “music,” I DO NOT want to dance to “Hip Hop is Dead” in the club. It’s just not going down like that.
But I do love Nas, Digable Planets, Tribe Called Quest, Little Brother…the list goes on. I just think we should be diverse.
Damn yall what is Soulja Boy supposed to rap about….killing people? selling drugs?….the KID is 17 years old in high school….He’s making music for KIDS who are in high school as well. He’s not a hip hop artist, he’s an entertainer!
Back in the Day no matter what someone rapped about even if it was offensive to women or something, it actually sounded like something. The Beats were Fresh and the Lyrics where actually intellecual.
Nowadays it’s just repeating something over and over and sounding as stupid as possible. Its said that a lot of people like this kind of “hip-hop”.
@ It Is What It Is
If you think all southern rapper’s are a joke, stroll down two stories. Someone went platinum in less than a week and he aint from the NYC!

Just because you sell records don’t make your product good.
Oh, and the opposite of the south is not NYC, lol. I love how people refute the wackness of the south by bringing up NYC. Why can’t the south just be wack on it’s own, lol? I guess that means that NYC is the standard…
Soulja Boy was not marketed towards a 45+ plus year old permed out man with a silicone injected wife/woman! First, there are several styles in hip hop and you can’t blame the artists because the consumers determine the direction of any musical genre by your PURCHASES! Therefore, if 16 yr olds download his song excessively on My*****e and then YouTube users create thousands of video parodies to his songs, then what do you know, the majors are coming. This young man should be admired for using the Internet as his marketing strategy to catapult his success. It’s ironic, everyone blames the South (because they are the reigning region in Hip Hop) and state they dumbed down hip hop. NEWSFLASH – what was the content of hip hop before the South became the reigning region. The 90’s – a la Biggie, Jay Z, DMX, JaRule, Mobb Deep, etc – MONEY, CLOTHES, CARS, DRUGS, WOMEN and glorifying STREET LIFE. The West Coast – Snoop, Xzibit, E-40, MC Eiht, Luniz, Cube, etc – GANGSTER LIFESTYLE, PIMPING, WOMEN, DRUGS, AND CARS. So, let’s not get holier than thou about the direction of hip hop. Yes, you had a few conscious artists in there but if you are hip hop fan, you know what the overall topics of discussion were in the records. Now, the South is personifying the party lifestyle and that’s dumbing down hip hop. Most of you must be imagining a facade about the previous topics in hip hop. If your favorite artists isn’t prominent, then why are YOU supporting them.
Screw this rap crap! Bring back polka! That’s real music. You schwatza’s don’t no anything about real art! Polka is gonna make a comeback and put the game on lock, you mark my words! POLKA!
I miss The Spinners.
Sorry…
If your favorite artists aren’t prominent right now, then why are YOU NOT supporting them.
“Just because you sell records don’t make your product good.” If I ever heard an oxymoron… I guess bad products sell then? SMDH
Actually NYC is as far away from being the standard as possible.
And last I checked, NYC is the opposite of the south. It’s called the North? Geography much?
@ CARMEL KANDIE…
SEE THATS WHATS WRONG WITH KIDS NOW, US CONDONING THIS *****, NOW WHAT SO TEENAGERY ABOUT “SUPERMANING HOES” PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME. MAYBE I MISSED IT
@MS BRILLY-DON’T PAT YOURSELF ON THE BACK TO HARD YOU MIGHT BREAK IT. WE CAN ALL AGREE HIP HOP (RAPPING) STARTED IN NYC SO THATS WHY PEOPLE ALWAY REFER BACK TO IT. ALSO BECAUSE NYC PEOPLE CAN SEEM TO APPRECIATE ANYTHING THATS NOT FROM THE BIG APPLE AND WANT TO DOWN ALL OTHERS. JUST KNOW NOTHING GROWS WITHOUT CHANGE AND THE BEST BEATS HAVE ALWAYS COME FROM SOUTHERN MUSIC THATS WHY IT’S ONLY NOW THAT HIP HOP IS CROSSING OVER IN A M***** WAY. THE SAME THING HAPPEN WITH R&B AND ROCK AND ROLL. ALL THAT COMES FROM US SOUTHERNERS.
to all the down south haters:
you needs to chill. im willing to bet most of the people saying the south killed hip hop are from NYC. new yorkers spread there hate everytime another region is on top. i seem to remember NYC hating on the West when they were on top. listen, i know NY is the mecca of hip hop and i am appeciative for that. but hip hop is the voice of the street, the ghetto, the hood and urban people in general, the last time i checked NY wasnt the only place that hoods. yall NY *****s sound like a kid at the b-ball court that didnt get picked up for the team so now you want your ball back!!LMFAO!!! stop throwing stones cuz dat ***** MIMS is trash. “Chicken noodle Soup”?!?!WTF!!
oh, and i aint even from the south im from the CHI but i live down south. and its alot of down south cats dat spit fire! they just cant get on cuz the lables would rather put their money behind artist like soulja boy.
@ CARMEL KANDIE- I HAVEN’T CONDONED ANYTHING I AM SIMPLY STATEING THE FACTS IF YOU CAN HANDLE IT. YES WE DO HAVE KIDS FUCCING AT AN ALUMING RATE NOW A DAYS AND I HAVE ALREADY SAID ITS THE PARENTS FAULT FOR DROPPING THE BALL (CHECK MY ABOVE POST) BUT THIS THREAD IS ABOUT A GROWN ***** 50 SOMETHING YEAR OLD MAN TELL AN 18 YEAR OLD TO SUCK HIS *****. WTF SO MY POINT WAS IF WE WANT TO TALK ABOUT MORALS LETS START WITH THE GROWN *****ES WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO BE THE EXAMPLE.
Like I said, I honestly am glad we don’t have music with political messages all the time. And while I can’t stand Soulja Boy and his other fellow comrades who make the same cornball “music,” I DO NOT want to dance to “Hip Hop is Dead” in the club. It’s just not going down like that.
@ TEEDY AND NYC
OPKAY WE WILL GIVE NY ITS CREDIT BUT THEY MAY HAVE STARTED THE ***** NUT JUST BEING HONEST AND NOT TRYING TO CYBER BEEF, NY AND PUTTIN ***** DOWN IN THE INDUSTRY RIGHT NOW… NO MAM!!! I WILL EVEN GO AS FAR TO SAY THATS MAY BE WERE HIP HOP WAS BIRTHED BUT WITH THESE BOOTY BANDIT ***** ARTIST DOWN THERE NOW, IT MAY BE WHERE HIP HOP DIES!!! BUT THEY DID PUT HIP HOP ON… NOTHIN MAJOR IN A WHILE THOUGH
@ Teedy: You’re off a bit.. I live in Georgia, born in Brooklyn, raised in NJ..
Who sets standards on what a whole state appreciates?? C’mon now, scroll back up and read the post about how we dividing hip hop and helping to destroy it. You might be helping as well without knowing..
NY AINT PUTTIN ***** DOWN RIGHT NOW… SORRY I WAS TYPNG FAST
What a old miserable *****er!
Rap is dying because of people like Nocents who have branded and sold the rap game like a cheap ***** box of Mike n Ikes.
These little youngsters are keeping the rap relevant and unlike Old Yeller and his nasty blow-up doll.
What a sorry-***** N***r.
Yes I put the r on the end!!!!!
@ Nat: Thanks once again.. I dont play any of that ***** either?? Chicken noodle soup?? Get the ***** outta here lol lil mama is trash….

@SHAY SHAY I AGREE I’M ON YOUR SIDE ON THIS ONE NYC AIN’T BEEN DOING ***** SINCE BIGGIE DIED WITH THE EXCEPTION OF JAY-Z AND 50′S 1 GOOD ALBLUM.
@ CAGE
HE HAS A LITTLE POINT WE CANT HAVE A “COP KILLA GANGSTA” GIVING ADVICE AND CRITISIZING A 17 YR OLD THATS “SUPERMANNING HOES TO DEATH” WE NEED A BALANCE IS WHAT I THINK HES SAYING… AND LIKE I SAID BEFORE I CAN NAME AT LEAST TWO WHACK ***** ARTIST FROM EVERY STATE, SO NOT ONLY DOES THE SOUTH HAS SOME TERRIBLE RAPPERS BUT EVERY OTHER STATE AS WELLL….. I STILL CANT BELIEVE LIL JON HAD A CAREER… FOR REAL YALL, YEEEAAHHHH! LMAO

Th
Am I in the house today??
@ Abner Kravitz
polka? LMAO
@CAGE I DON’T LIKE TO PERPETUATE NEGITIVITY I’M ALL FOR MY PEOPLE COMING TOGETHER BUT IT’S NOT THE SOUTH THATS ALWAYS YELLING ***** NYC. ITS THE OTHER WAY AROUND. THE SOUTH HAS ALWAYS BEEN HUMBLE TO BE APART OF THE HIP HOP GAME AND CAN GIVE NYC THE CREDIT FOR STARTING SOMETHING THAT HAS NOW GROWN BEYOND THEM. THEY SHOULD BE HAPPY LIKE A PROUD DAD SENDING HIS SON OUT INTO THE WORLD TO GROW NOT TRY TO HOLD ***** BACK BECAUSE THEY DON’T UNDERSTAND IT. THATS ALL I’M SAYING AND FOR THE RECORD JAY-Z IS MY FAVORITE RAPPER AND BEFORE HIM TUPAC AND NEITHER OF THOSE TWO HAIL FROM THE SOUTH. I CAN GIVE HONOR TO ANY OF MY BLACK PEOPLE. I JUST WISH WE COULD ALL DO THE SAME.
Sorry*
This ***** got alot of nerve. He sounds like a straight cold HATER. Notonce did he credit soulja boyfor making his own beats and producing all of his music and creating his OWN fanbase …then being scouted out by Colli Park? Not once…ebenthough he might rap about silly ***** that’s his business and how he gets paid…I am startled by Ice T’s ignorance . How can you “PIMP” your wife out like that and walk with dignity…everyone has seen her vagina….so what’s so special about it when you hit that!
I am still like damn….the ***** must’ve bumped his head.
p.s.
soulja boy aint thinking about you is busy making hits and enjoying his teen-aged life!
@Cage
i know you know whats up. i dont mind given NYC its props. Brooklyn is the borough that birthed some of the illest MC’s in the game(the list is to long to type). i think soulja boy should keep making records as long as he can. but what i was saying was it used to be for every Dougie Fresh or Fresh Prince there was a Rakim or BDK.
*****s who say the south is trash should come to NC. *****s down here spit with a east coast rhyme style but with a down south sound. its dope!! check out little brother and you’ll see what im talking about
@ It is What it is
First of all, I wasn’t trying to beef. But I guess you can’t grasp the logic of trash artists selling a lot of records (does the term “one hit wonder” ring a bell?) And I wasn’t talking about lil’ wayne in particular… just the fact that it doesn’t take actual talent to sell a lot of units.
Second, maybe YOU need geography lessons. There are many cities in the north besides for NYC (or maybe you didn’t know that?)
SMH at people trying to start fake beef on a website, lol
@TEEDY
Don’t generalize. I’m from NYC and I appreciate all kinds of GOOD music, wherever it originates. I don’t think the best beats come from the south (or the north) I don’t think that generally. Maybe YOU shouldn’t pat YOURSELF on the back too hard. I like some music from the south, I like some music from the north, I like some music from the west. Good music comes from all over.
@ M DADDY
YEAHHHH!!!! BRO MISSED YOU
I agree with him. Rakim and the other’s listed were and is what Hip Hop is all about. Soulja boy is a damn let down. All his ***** sound the same to me in my opinion. I think he should use the talent he got to do some relevant and better *****.
This from an aged, balding, ponytail wearing, cop killing turned cop playing sellout “pimp” joke?!?!
While I agree with everything he said, he is just the last one who should be talking..
SMDH!!!

Yelp, someone is most definitely in the “twilight zone”.
Your words, not mine. “Oh, and the opposite of the south is not NYC, lol.”
To It is what it is,
Thanks…now I can take the puzzled look off my face!!!
Rap is NOT dead! It’s just 2 kinds of rap: realness and commercial….because the mainstream soulja boys, lil mamas, bow wows, and all that fruit snack rap is whats on radios is what teenagers buy
Realness is unforeseen on radios because unfortunately it doesnt sell to the radio audience: teenagers.
And yes, New York is credited as the birthplace of rap, but Who cares if you’re not from Brooklyn!! Most great artists in New York have a background from anywhere but New York (i.e. Busta Rhymes, Biggie) so who cares?
For all you Down south Haters who care to reminisce on all the up north cl*****ics, listen to:
UGK, 8Ball and MJG, TI, Outkast, Goodie Mobb, Geto Boys and Scarface, etc.
I’m Serious is a cl*****ic and so is ATliens and Southernplayalisticcadillac….
Ice T is right as rain
@ Nat Turna
You know what? I didn’t really know about the NC hip hop scene until I ended up living there for about 7 years. I had not heard of little brother until then and they are (were) the truth! NC definitely has an underrated hip hop sound. They’re up and coming!

sigh… this exchange is over. I can’t tolerate your ignorance anymore. You go to any teacher and ask what the opposite of the South is and if they answer you “NYC” PLEASE, PLEASE let me know!
But Hip hop isnt Dead them dudes is just wack. We still got Common, Twalib, Fat Joe, Snoop, ect…. I can go on and on
@MS BRILLY
Oh, and the opposite of the south is not NYC, lol. I love how people refute the WACKNESS OF THE SOUTH by bringing up NYC. Why can’t the SOUTH just be WACK on it’s own, lol? I guess that means that NYC is the standard…
STAND BY WHAT YOU SAID YOU KNOW WE CAN GO BACK AND QUOTE YOU. IT LOOKS TO ME LIKE YOU ARE DOWNING THE SOUTH AS A WHOLE IN THE ABOVE STATEMENT, NOT LIKE YOU CAN APPRECIATE SOME FORMS OF THE MUSIC DOWN HERE. I’M JUST SAYING.
Since 02/13/2007 ive been tellin’ ya’ll deep south rap aint really rap at all! Its some Bama ***** n*ggas who got together and decided to talk into a mic.
Ice t is saying what Ive said all along, deep south rap is sh*tty.
There’s no artform to it whatsoever.
Deep south n*ggas have dumbed hiphop down so much it only appeals to other dumb *****f*ckas.
Soulja Boy, Plies, Guccimane, Joc, jeezy, weezy, slimthug etc all of it is bullsh*t and it only sells majority down there.
Download KRS, Public enemy, Rakim, Ice Cube, Big daddy kane, Dr Dre, Eminem, Wu-Tang or The Game listen to one track from each then put on any deep south sh*t except for Ludacris, Scarface or older Outkast, you’ll immediately think WTF?
Im not speaking as an east, west or island hiphop head, Im speaking from a person who was only 3 or 4 when these groups first came out and now i’m a huge fan.
Rock the Bells tour is this summer and not one bullsh*t deep south artist is on the bill!
@ Teedy,
That would be me downing the south, How can you even support that sh*t they put out as music?
@ Mdaddy,
Common-yep
Fat Joe-no
Snoop-only when he’s with dr Dre
It’s not like he’s lying! All this garbage azz music for the ig’nant azz fans. That’s why I don’t listen to the radio anymore. Payolla is a **********ka!!!
Put together a deep south rap tour and try and take that sh*t outta the south, i guarantee you once you leave Ala, Miss, Tex, Flor, Ga, Tenn, Ark, etc. you’d have to turn those buses around for lack of ticket sales.
Opinion,
Just get Sirius satelite radio, channels 43 golden age of hiphop, 45 shady, 40 indy hiphop from all around the world.
Man Please, Hip Hop woulda been dead a long time ago if that was the case. Hip hop is about beaing creative and different, and that is what this man is doing. When rap 1st started, the majority of guys did it to get women, before so called gangstas started flooding thte seen. Hip Hop Traditionalist (Mainly East Coast) folks see it as wack, but he making money, so somebody likes it. Gimme a hot track and Ill eat doritoes on the mic all day if it got me paid like him. Same people that dis southern rap was the ones that dis Booty Shake music. Say what you want, I like Jay Z Nas and Common, but I dont see it played in strip clubs much. Let hip hop grow, in all genres, and stop hatin.
@Cage
Thanks…
We always agree on the women, but it looks like we’re in diagreement on hip-hop but that’s cool…
I was saddened & in disbelief when I found out them youngin’s who made up the “Chicken Noodle Soup” Song were from New York…
I couldn’t believe it…
I knew the game was messed up then, when folks from “up top” were immitating “down south” artists…
(*ain’t nothing the matter with that because every region has it’s own style – but when other regions try too hard to sound & act like others – SMDH!!!)
New Yorkers are traditionally innovators, I can’t front on that…
I disagree Soulja Boy is a young kid trying to make some money and he did a good job. This kid is not apart of the era Ice-T is referring to. His age puts him at a stage where rap is more commercial.
To say that one artist in particular is singlehandly changing the game is retarded. If people did not like his music than it would not sell. It’s the buyers who are in charge of what they want to hear. There is an audience for everyone.
Leave that kid alone and let him do what he does (one hit wonder or not). If you don’t like his music don’t listen to it. Isn’t that an option? If everyone has so many complaints than call your radio stations and request different *****. Everyone is always complaining but no one does anything.
@TEEDY
I do stand by what I said. I never said I thought the south was wack. All I said was why do people usually have to compare the south with the north or defend the south by saying the north is wack(ex: the south isn’t wack… look at all the wack artists from the north).
I’d say the same for the north or any other region. If I think music is trash it’s not because it’s from anywhere in particular, it’s because it sounds bad… and I don’t need to justify it by saying music from another region is trash too.
And I said “NYC must be the standard…” not because I necessarily believe that… but because everyone always seems to compare music to what NYC is putting out. for example “the south ain’t wack… look what NYC is putting out right now” or “NYC ain’t been hot in a minute”
I say again… I like good music regardless of where it originates. I guess I have to explain things a little more clearly from now on, lol
@Its6amHoGetOu
@ Mdaddy,

He’s speaking the truth. Real Hip Hop is truly dead. I’m embarr*****ed to even listen to that stupid “Yah, Trick, Yah” and other garbage.
I would love to see all of the old school/real hip hop artists to ban together and put these white executives out of business and gain more control over our music and TV programming.
@ MA =DADDY
I KNOW I WAS BLOCKED FOR A DAY TOO
Teedy said “GROWN ***** PEOPLE WOULD SPEND MONEY AND SUPPORT THE MUSIC THEY LIKE WE WOULD HEAR MORE OF IT BUT Y’ALL CHOOSE TO BOOTLEG AND DOWNLOAD EVERYTHING AND THEN GET MAD WHEN KIDS HIT #1. YOU DON’T SEE MADONNA *****ING ON MILEY SIRIS.”
I agree. I don’t like soulja boy or hurrican chris (not my type of music) but I won’t knock them. If somebody likes them cool. I won’t purchase nor download their ish. I don’t suupport **********ness in any form.
Although I don’t care for Solja Boi or Plies (I’m sorry Bust It Baby sounds like an ode to gay men) I don’t think Ice T is right. I don’t think the older generation should be complaining that much. I’m 28 and grew up on Rakim but I understand that this generation isn’t going to listen to what I listened to. Hip Hop doesn’t belong to anyone.
He had his time and wasted most of it trying to be a rock star. Maybe that’s when hip hop started to die? *****ody is listening to you dude you’ve been a joke for a long time.
@Cage
@ Brother M: Whats good fam, sorry about that obliteration last night even I felt the pain..

Whats good big Brah?? Its all good dawg you win some and you lose some but DAMN!!!! The celtics looked like the Globetrotters last night against us LOL
I listen to all genre’s of rap ON THE RADIO. I may not buy it, but I will listen to it. But lately, the past few years, I can’t even tolerate listening to it on the radio. My daughter is into the music of today, but I can even tolerate it long enough for her to listen to it on the radio. I had to buy her an mp3 player because I understand their is only so much of my music a kid can tolerate as well. Although, she gets a crack out of me when the old school mix show is on saturday nights and I’m rocking to it and singing all the lyrics like I am still 16 years old.
I agree with Ice-T to a certain degree as far as the delivery of music. I feel the same way on that because anyone can just come up with a good beat and hook and call it hip hop. However, to talk about Hurrican Chris’s hair when he’s been wearing a perm and ponytails for year is wrong. I hate when the older generation talks down on the younger genertaion when they have done everything under the sun themselves. Just because the younger genertaion does it different from how they do it doesn’t mean that it’s wrong. This is one of the reasons why the younger generation act as they do because no one what to be a role model to show them how it should be done. Instead of running his damn mouth on how to do something he should lead by example. If I Ice-T wants to set an example, he should start off by cutting his hair first!!!
The South has a plethora of artists to choose from. You’re ignorant if you believe there’s only one style that comes from the south. We’re fortunate enough to have T.I., Jeezy, Ludacris , UGK, OUTKAST, Scarface, Little Brother, 8 Ball & MJG, and many others to bring different styles to the forefront! We’re not dependent on one style to carry an entire region. That’s why the region is successful. We can appreciate artists from North Carolina, to Florida to Texas with different styles, flows, and lyrical ability, our region is diverse. It’s amazing that many of the artists you keep quoting are from 15 years ago, yet they remain irrelevant in todays music. If you’ve been in the game that long, why are you not owning media outlets to distribute your music and music that fits the criteria you deem acceptable. Also, where is the fan base? What are you doing to ensure the music you state you love so deeply continues to thrive? The Rolling Stones can continue to sell out crowds around the country, can your favorite rap artist do the same. Everyone wants to direct blame but what is your role in the direction of rap. Everyone knows it’s consumed by young teens / young adults and particularly young white teens and they have the ability to download the music for free too but they seem to take the opportunity to financially support the music that appeals to them. DO YOU? Or do you just bootleg and/or download every album that hit the shelves and then complain about why your favorite MC is not HOT!! It seems Country, Pop, and Rock can continue to remain consistent, but R&B and Hip Hop sales are on the decline. What do you propose the problem is and it’s not just the content of the album?
BOTTOM LINE HALF OF WHAT IS OUT TO DAY IS WHACK AND THATS JUST THAT

HELL I FELT LIKE I WAS IN JAIL AND JUST GOT OUT, I WAS COMMENTING ON EVERY BLOG!!!
Move the BET HipHop awards out of Atlanta this year.
Heres a thought for all you deep south rap lovers, do you ever think the Rock n roll hall of fame will ever induct LIL Flip, Jeezy, Weezy or Soulja boy?
What about VH1 Honours? You think anyone is gonna show up to see a medley of Plies?
@ITS6AMHOEGETOUT
I COULD SAY THE SAME ABOUT A LOT OF UP NORTH ARTIST BUT I’M SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT SOME THINGS ARE REGIONAL AND I JUST DON’T GET IT BUT I WOULD NOT HATE ON A WHOLE STATE OR REGION. SOME STUFF FROM THE SOUTH YOU JUST WON’T UNDERSTAND IF YOU ARE NOT FROM HERE BUT YOU CANNOT SAY THE T.I’S, 8 BALL’S, MJG’S, UGK’S, WAYNE’S, AND OUTKAST HAVE NO TALENT, I’M SORRY THATS JUST HATING IF YOU TRULY LOVE HIP HOP YOU CAN RESPECT ALL FORMS OF IT. YOU DON’T HAVE TO LIKE IT BUT YOU HAVE TO RESPECT IT.
Its6amHoGetOut says:

Agreed.
I don’t understand why folks are saying hip hop is dead because of music like Soulja boy.
but we gotta be serious. No offense to my southern folks, but hearing endless and endless of songs about “trickin, dranking, stanking”, songs about “purple stuff”, endlessly in the clubs (strip or not) or “crunkin” is really tired and old.
Keep that “music” (MO) down there. thanks!
I’ll be the first to admit that I am no hip-hop because I am that target commercial audience. I love the bubble gum rap(as yall call it) with the tight beats. It gets you hype and puts you in a good mood. I have to be at work at 4am and there is noway I wanna roll out listening to some conscience rap. I read books for that. Music is fun. What’s the big deal. Listen to who you wanna listen to. Hell get satelite if you wanna hear them on the radio. They have underground stations.
@ 6AM
REAL FUNNY REAL FUNNY, LEAVE IT UP TO YOU TO HAVE JOKES, AND YOU NEVER KNOWTHEY MIGHT GIVE LIL WAYNE SOMETHING BUT NOT THEM OTHER DUDES AND YOU NOW IT “MR FUNNY MAN”
ICE T HAS A RIGHT TO HIS OPINION BUT HONESTLY HIP HOP HAS TO REALIZE THAT THERE IS ENOUGH BREAD FOR EVERYONE IN THIS INDUSTRY. DIFFERENT PEOPLE LIKE DIFFERENT THINGS AND HAVE DIFFERENT TASTE. THESE RAPPERS NEED TO FIND THIER NICHE AND QUIT HATIN ON EACH OTHER. I PERSONALLY DON’T LIKE SOUJA BOY BUT ***** OBVIOUSLY SOMEBODY DOES. THAT’S THEIR PROBLEM.
Sepiastar, you hit the nail on the head. Nothing else needs to be said. Everyone on here talking about Rappers from the late 80s and early 90s sound like my pops (now 50) in the late 80s and early 90s. Get over it. Times change, styles change, genres change, people change. Music has just p*****ed you by… Give it up, you’re old!!!
Now keep telling yourselves 30 is the new 20…
Let the Truth be told!!!
Heres my prediction for the BET awards this year;
More than one deep south rapper will be robbed of all his jewelry by the L.A. crips or bloods.
More than one deep south rapper will start a fight in the audience of the awards and the show will have to stop then restart.
T-pains performance wont sound anything like the record and neither will anyone else’s.
BET will censor out all the Boo’s when a deep south artist beats out Jay-Z.
That fat unfunny b*tch Monique will read what i posted while voting for Bossip as site of the year on BET and ask that i be banned.
More than one deep south rapper will be arrested for gun posession outside the awards show.
and while hurricane is taking his beads out ice-t can cut that slick behind ponytail off too with his evermore receding hairline!!
Hip Hop/Rap is no longer an exclusive genre.
Its been commericalized so much.
Have yall seen that commerical with the “Free Credit Report dot com”?
funny as hell but proves my point
Didn’t Ice T cut his ponytail off last year? I thought I saw him on Law and Order SVU without it?
just wondering…
@ITS6AMHOGETOUT
I DON’T GIVE TWO *****S ABOUT THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME OR VH1 HONORS, HOW ABOUT WE HONOR OUR OWN AND STOP HATING ON THEM?
@SEPTIAR
If I Ice-T wants to set an example, he should start off by cutting his hair first!!! LMAO
@ let the truth be told,
Are you f*ckin’ crazy? name more than 10 deep south artist other than Outkast, TI, UGK (which i still dont get)Geto boys, jeezy, weezy or paul wall who’ve had more than two cd’s before you never hear from their *****es again.
and that doesnt include that “made in the basement” sh*t they put out independently either.
deep south rap is horrible, its hasnt p*****ed us by, somehow yall bama ***** n*ggas built a time machine and set that sh*t to 1859 chitlin, neckbones and black eye’d peas time then decided to rap about what you know……….which is nothing!
TEEDY,
Please shut all the way the f*ck up and let people express THEIR opinions! If you disagree, fine, but the same way you felt you had the right to agree or disagree with Ice-T, other people do too. You don’t own Bossip nor pay any of the bills here, so please stop arguing with people.
With that said, all southern rappers need to be sent to an island like LOST so that SOME of us don’t have to put up with the crap that comes out of their mouths anymore. With the exception of Big Boi and Dre, they all look, sound, and act like they just got off a slave ship, and I’m sick of them!
Who the hell is Ice-T to talk??? He help bring in the pimp culture to hip hop.
@Teedy,
I’d love to honor my own, but me and a deep south rapper dont have sh*t in common except our skin color.
1. I dont have a babymomma.
2. I graduated Jr and Sr high school and college.
3. I dont right around my neighborhood with a gun in the car.
4. I dont have gold fronts.
5. I dont jherri-curl my hair then braid it.
6. I dont live with my momma at 24 (next month 250
7. I dont drive a $500 car with $5,000 rims.
8. I dont sip sizzurp.
9. I dont visit minimall clubs and wait for the shoot out to start.
10.I can form a sentence.
Lol @ Rainmaker,
They all sound and look like they just got off the Slave ship!
I wish i had wrote that!
Oh yeah, for me personally, I dont Superman my girls, I prefer to Aquaman them!
@6am
5. I dont jherri-curl my hair then braid it.
ROTFLMAO!!!! OMG!!!!
ROFLMAO @ 6amHoGetOut

@ Its6amHoGetOut
Obviously, since you’re not from the south, you wouldnt know about all of the records that down south artists have put out in the past because we didnt have the media network or advances that big metropolitans like New York have.
There are plenty of Up North artists who have only had 2 albums or less! (i.e. Mims, Craig Mack, Joe Budden, Ja Rule)And I know you dont call that ignorant redman and his jokes of songs rap! Down south rappers have different genres on their albums. They make stuff for the radio, stuff for the clubs, stuff for the strip clubs, and real stuff to *****yze (while smoking weed for most guys).
Jay-Z and Biggie and all those legends are GREAT artists, but they are on an *****ytical level. SO that’s what we do. We *****yze their rap – not radio play or club play.
@ Its6amHoGetOut
You truly are HATIN…I hate to use that word since it’s so overused and misused but I guess it’s appropriate for you.
Music is a depiction of life. I can stereotypically *****ume that 90’s NY life was about young black men IMITATING ITALIAN GANGSTERS (who by the way don’t REALLY care for Blacks that much). We can also state (Thanks to PUFFY), that they developed the “formula” styles that are prevalent in today’s rap (you know, the reason why the majority of the hits are extraordinarily SIMILAR, no variances). Yet, we cl*****ify the artists as legendary because of their ability to depict the lifestyle in their lyrics and the delivery. If we want to go to the West coast, we can also stereotypically *****ume that life was about gangbanging and either you were a Crip or a Blood (too bad you were so busy killing each other that you were not aware of the high influctuation of Hispanics that are now KILLING YOU) and loved low-riders. You also exalted weed smoking in almost all of your songs. Yet, the majority of rap fans saw your music as more than just that narrow depiction. We appreciated the musical narratives of your lifestyle and the streets of the West Coast. We knew you presented political and socially conscious rappers also and didn’t categorize your region based upon one sound. Now, the majority of the hits reign from the South and you’re *****uming the music is inferior because you don’t like some of the artists. Why are you unable to rationalize that the South has a variety of sounds that reflect the lifestyle down south and partying is just one facet of it?
@IT6AMHOGETOUT & RAINMAKER
FIRST OFF I KNOW I HAVE MORE EDUCATION THAN YOU TWO FOOLS PUT TOGETHER SO LETS NOT GO THERE ON THE SOUTHERN PEOPLE ARE DUMB AND THIS AND THAT. SECOND THIS IS A BLOG ITS MADE FOR PEOPLE TO DEBATE IT WOULD BE BORING OTHERWISE. DON’T BE MAD CAUSE YOU CAN’T KEEP UP. THIRD IF Y’ALL ARE SO SURE THAT THE NORTH IS THE BEST THERE IS NO NEED TO KEEPING HATING ON THE SOUTH LIKE Y’ALL DO BUT Y’ALL KNOW WHATS UP. JUST LET US PARTY MAKE THIS MONEY AND BE HAPPY WE ARE HAVING A GOOD TIME UNLIKE SOME OF YOU BITTER *****ES. GET OUT OF THAT BITTER COLD AND STEP INTO SOME SUNSHINE.
@ rain maker
you may not like the southern style or the slang, but i bet your girl does!LOL!
women always rave about southern gentlemen. i know plenty of women who moved from up north to the south just to have a better life and find a nice man. ive been living down south since i was 11 and i went back to the CHI the ladies loved my cousins country accent! they like country boys………i guess thats why your hatin’!!!LOL!!!!
“Said the Pot to the Kettle”. He has alot of nerve! I know he’s not comparing that garbage he spewed outta his piehole, in the 90’s, to Rakim and nem’. HE’s NEVER been able to really rap. *****s jocked him because they thought pimping was the *****. I can’t ever recall askin a dj to throw on some Ice T. His mouth looks like a cootiecat, His girl is a fake, man-made, w*****…and that’s it…that’s her claim to fame, and his entire life is an ongoing punchline! (Rapper and Actor, my Aunt’s *****!!) I’ll take Soulja boy’s bubble-gum rap style over “his” anyday. At least I get to Superman dat Ho!
@ coperate cutie.. cage and m daddy whats up… glad to have you back m daddy!!!!
can anyone name a song originated from the South that is a cl*****ic?
meaning anytime its being played people still love it.
And as for music to get people jumping, “Get Money” from Biggie gets played in the clubs, everyone dances. there are others.
Thank you Ice. There was a comment posted awhile ago stating that soulja boy and whoever is 17 or 18 and that they are just making music to appeal to that age group. I COMPLETELY disagree. Just because your young, does not mean you have to be retarded. I was listening to KRS-One and P.E. when I was 10 for God’s sake-I’m very sure I would have been able to figure out that Superman ***** is stupid. For those of us that take hip-hop seriously, it’s truly become one of those things that you need to teach kids about what real mc’ing and dj’ing is all about. It may sound corny or dramatic or whatever, but we’ve really been slippin! I have a theory about this mess: I think about the bubble gum songs from when I was a teenager (M.C. Brains “Oochie Coochie”-Candyman “Knockin tha Boots”) and although they were cute and fun to dance to, the reason why we never heard from them again was because we all didn’t run out and jump on the retard bandwagon and make those artists #1 all-time best selling whatevers. Yeah, I think they went gold and stuff, but that was that and we got over it and moved on. People recognized it for what it was-music to play at a junior high school dance, period. I cringe to think what crap is going to be next, when you have real talent that should get that recognition. Sorry I rambled y’all, but DAMN this *****es me off!
definetly checking in and out of this post.. bye cc and m daddy and cage!!!!
AND FOR THOSE OF YALL KNOCKING THE “SHINY SUIT ERA”
GTFOH!
RAPPERS ARE STILL FLASHY, WITH JEWELS AND TACKY LOGO CLOTHING. THERE IS REALLY NO DIFFERENCE
PIMP WEAR IN THE SOUTH IS JUST AS BAD AS PUFFY’S SHINY SUITS IF NOT WORSE
Did some of you really just say, down south rappers sound like they just got off of a slave ship? Please, when you post, state where you’re from because I never knew your dialect was the only barometer of your intelligence.
I live in Atlanta and I can honestly say, where some of you live, you might not SOUND like you just got off of a slave ship but your MASTERS still treat you like one. Most of you reside in cities where you have absolutely no control over the direction of the areas (minimal black businesses, no AA corporate executives, no progressive African American communities. That’s the reason many of you are FLOCKING to Atlanta). You can’t even afford to purchase homes in the cities where you grew up. We have extremely progressive African Americans here (entrepreneur and corporate) than most cities in the U.S.
It’s just like N*KKAs to make jokes about Blacks coming off of a slave ship and find it cute.
@jahpson
put “back dat ***** up” on and watch how quick your girl jumps on the dance floor!!!
BE CAREFUL Y’ALL ARE SHOWING YOUR LACK OF EDUCATION. PLEASE TELL ME HOW PEOPLE FROM THE SOUTH LOOK LIKE SLAVES???????? NOW YOU HATE SLAVES????? LAST TIME I CHECKED WE WERE ALL BLACK AND DECENDENTS OF SLAVES. I’M PROUD OF THE FACT THAT MY PEOPLE CAN COME THRU THAT AND STILL BE HERE. PATHETIC BUNCH OF COONS.
Honestly, I hate sh*tting on my own people, but people like Soulja Boy were the straws that broke the camel’s back and I just can’t take it anymore!
Yes, Cash Money was wrong for coming out with that “wobble-d wobble-d” crap years ago, but I figured SOMEBODY would have enough sense to line them up and execute them before their next single dropped. Instead, they not only led the way for the rest of the hair roller and shower cap-wearing sambos to come running out the closet like a hoard of wild boars, they also led the way for Lil’ Wayne to think he’s the G.O.A.T. for coming up with crap like “lollipop”.
I mean, if we’re going to say there were other ignant *****ed songs coming from rappers long before the South got on the map, then ok. I guess rap was basically crap all along, but we just didn’t realize it. But still, I’ll be DAMNED if I’m going to let ANYBODY convince me that people like Soulja Boy aren’t making it worse. It can’t get any worse than this. It just can’t! I’ll slit my own damned wrist before turning on the radio if it gets any worse than this!
i agree with Ice but i mean they kids, what u expect??? turn da station or don’t buy they music like i do, but like my baby Jay Z said *****s ain’t rappin 2 eat no more so their hearts r just not in it…
@ Nat Turna
oh yea!!
can’t front on that one.
@ Teedy
*****ody said yall look like slaves. yall SOUND like slaves. big diff
*Oh and as for the Deep South Rapper comments….none of us are burning up the midnight oil around this M/f. Here it is the middle of the day and we’re on a gossip blog arguing about bull*****, as the world turns. At least they’re in a studio “thinking” they’re doing the right thing. ‘Cause Lord knows they ain’t!” (that’s right, “ain’t!”)
But then, who is? Especially in the rap game! There is no positivity in the game anymore. So a ***** just dances:) That’s all a ***** can do. And hope and pray we come to our senses and do better. Ice-T is at the bottom of the barrel with Soulja Boi, though, and he should’nt EVER get that twisted or misconstrued!!
Supa soak dat Ho, for reals.
*dead* @ RainMaker
“Instead, they not only led the way for the rest of the hair roller and shower cap-wearing sambos to come running out the closet like a hoard of wild boars”
JAHSON@ YOUR COMPARING YOUR FAVORITE RAPPER TO A PIMP AND THAT MAKES IT OK? I SEE THAT YOU HAVE NO TASTE OR CL*****. GOODBYE.
“Watch me pee in this cup” thats my new single
@Jahpson
Pimp wear is not prevelant in the South, sorry. You might have to look to the Midwest (Detroit) or West Coast (CALIFORNIA).
Shiny, gaudy jewelry did not stimulate from the South either. Go back to the 80’s and look at NY rappers (i.e. – Slick Rick)…
Every argument most of you make is unsubstantiated.
I love how people are making excuses for Soulja Boy being a “kid”, yet this kid raps about Supermaning a “ho” throughout his song.
Give me a break! If he’s going to act like he’s a grown man one minute, he should at least TRY to write like one!
ROFLMAO @ Teedy getting his/her bloomers in a bunch
@ Sepiastar
oh, so white tees, fluffy sneakers, and ridiculous chains as well as an expensive car parked in the projects is cl*****y? yea ok
what the hell???
are people arguing over soulja wack ***** boy?
the dude is wack as hell! I mean..come on??
how old are the people on here?
let’s put soulja boy up against a real emcee!
hip hop is on the stretcher
whoops!!
forgot to mention filling the mouth with those gaudy tacky gold grills, or wasting money with the “diamonds”
fulfilling the sterotype that southern rappers have bad breath
he didnt kill it education did, nicca’s refuse to learn. its only so many times you can flip a word in a sentence. Substance…
WOW who said that pimp wear was popular in the south?? hahahhahahahaha
whatever..PIMPING IS ALL OVER THE WORLD
I know that you happen to see” PIMPS UP HO’S DOWN” the national players ball?? LOL
japson you are sounding like…shhhh….he he might wake up crying..like a wittle witty baby..1am shhh..
As much as I hate Soulja Boy, he is not responsible for the state of Hip Hop, there has alway been wack ***** rappers with there one hit wonders, hell even Carmen Elektra had a rap album. The wackness of hip hop is the fault of the record companies who put this ***** out and pay radio stations to play it every 10 minutes. Ice should know the game by now, stop pickin on that lil sorry rapper and take on the big boys, Sony, BMG and so on.
*****..I know some NY emcee’s that have golds! COME ON! be right!
ms braided beauty chicagos own
@ coperate cutie.. cage and m daddy whats up… glad to have you back m daddy!!!!

Glad to be back boo LOL
@JAHPSON…PLEASE YOU COULDN’T GET MY PANTIES IN A BUNCH IF YOU HAD CHRIS BROWNS *****. SECOND YOU FLAPPIN THEM GUMS BUT YOU THE SAME UP NORTH ***** THATS IN THE N.O. EVERY WEEKEND LOOKING FOR A GOOD DOWN SOUTH GIRL TO GIVE YOU SOME OF THAT SOUTHERN GOODNESS AND THE SAME “WHAT’S UP SON” SPEAKING ***** THAT HAS NO GAME AND GETS NO PLAY. LOL, PLEASE, YOUR BIGGEST RAPPER HAD TO CROSS THE BORDER TO GET A WIFE, (WHAT UP B) YOU ALREADY KNOW WHATS UP.
And I’m not even reading all of that sh*t Teedy Fakes wrote.
And what the f*ck is a “Teedy” anyway? Or is that the way you *****ounce Teddy down South? See what I’m saying?
Mr. Make your booty talk… lol
@Jahpson
White tees – this trend is NATIONWIDE with young African Americans in urban areas. It can’t be attributed to one area of the country.
Ridiculous chains – see previous comments about NYC rappers (they started this trend).
Fluffy sneakers – I have no IDEA what you are talking about
Expensive cars parked in the projects – See comment #1. This is NATIONWIDE with MANY African Americans in urban areas. You buy expensive cars and you live in the projects and/or public housing yet you DON’T purchase homes. According to statistics in Black Enterprise, African Americans are the smallest segment of homeowners in the US (unless you consider Native Americans). It can’t be attributed to one area of the country.
You might need to re-examine your preconceived stereotypes about segments of society. You almost sound like a “non-black” person that’s spewing prejudice to justify their mindsets about others.
@jahpson
wu-tang was wearing gold grills before i seen any rappers do it. remember the fronts with the fangs?LOL!
I totally agree with him. Bossip, y’all couldn’t find a better pic for the post?
@ “TEEDY”
NOW DONT YOU FEEL STUPID, IM A FEMALE!! LMAO
THE FEMALES DOWN THERE THICK CAUSE THEY CHOKING ON ROSCOE’S CHICKEN AND WAFFLES.

Ice T is right the industry is bull***** and gimmicks, *****s snappin and poppin, everybody got blond weaves, everybody doing that t-pain *****, everybody copying everybody and the ***** is not original, its bull***** take me back to the 80’s and 90’s when everybody had their own styles and the songs words had meaning….this ***** is bull***** now!!!
SOUTHERN RAPPERS AND THEIR FOLKS ALL LOOK GREASY AS HELL
JUST STRAIGHT GREASE
@ SEPIASTAR AND TEEDY
SO YALL ADMIT THAT SOUTHERN RAPPERS COPY NORTH RAPPERS? CAUSE THATS WHAT IT SOUND LIKE TO ME.
Master P mugged hip hop.
Cash Money saw hip hop on the ground then stomped it.
Outkast tried to help deep south hip hop get off the ground and on its feet but was hit from behind by Yung Joc.
Slim thug saw hip hop still on the ground and went thru its pockets and stole all its creativity.
Lil Wayne stole its watch.
D4L (laffy taffy) was too stupid, they thought hip hop was just sleeping and walked right over it.
Soulja boy shot hiphop and dragged its body to the organ donor clinic because he didnt have anything else to do.
See he really did kill hip hop!
I cant beleive Master P got that rich selling sh*t to ignorant *****’s!

the caps button is on your far left side of the keyboard.
It should read “Caps Lock” (minues the quotes) just press it
@JAHPSON
No, I never said Southern rappers copy Northern rappers. All of my statements have refuted your reasoning to insinuate that Southern rappers were ruining hip hop. In other words, when you do*****ented your opinions to justify why artists from the South were ruining hip hop, I contradicted your rationale. For example, if your excuse is they promote pimp wear and gaudy jewelry, then I advised you that your statements were unjustified because this trend originated prior to the South’s dominance in hip hop (and that was presented with all of your statements). Your excuses did not objectively define how the South ruined hip hop, SORRY.
@RAINMAKER- YEAH ***** I’M VERSATILE THATS HOW THEY MAKE UM WHERE I’M FROM. WE CAN DO IT ALL FROM HOLLYWOOD TO STRAIGHT HOOD. DON’T GET IT TWISTED I’M A LADY BUT I KNOW HOW TO DEAL WITH *****’S LIKE YOU TOO.

@ TEEDY
IF [BIG IF] YOU CAN STEAL HIM, YOU CAN HAVE HIM.
@Jahpson
When you presented your opinions, they were baseless. That’s not a dissertation. The problem is, you’re saying the South ruined hip hop but it’s been on a decline and you can’t place all of the blame on the South, plain and simple. So, no it’s not a you know and I know situation. You’re incorrect and this isn’t about appearing intellectual and “forcing it”. You can read any comments I have ever made, this is ME everyday on any topic!!

its my personal opinion, doesnt need to be *****yzed. thats just the facts.
Why dont you just let it go.
Not everyone thinks of the “Dirty Souf” as a kingdom.

@JAHPSON-NOW THATS A GOOD HOE JUST GIVING HIM UP CAUSE YOU ALREADY KNOW YOU DON’T STAND A CHANCE. EVENTHOUGH HE’S IMAGINARY. YOU KNOW YOU LIKE GIRLS. I’M NOT YOUR MAMA YOU DON’T HAVE TO LIE TO ME.
I find it hilarious some of you posters try to sound all big and intelligent.
we are all educated and have jobs. I go on this website to wild out, have fun and make jokes.
So for some of yall acting so high and mighty, prove that you have no personality and suck at life.
WOW…. this nig’ claim they need to man up but he is cleaning cobwebs out his wifes plastic ***** at a holloween party… HHHMMMM
@ Teedy
and you *****ume I like girls because of what you read?
you dont know me, know what i sound like, act like, LOOK like but can *****ume im a lesbian?
who sounds unintelligent now? lol
Dang…I hate to say this…but I actually agree with Ice-T. Souljah Boy sounds like he is still on the short yellow bus…
As for the photo…it looks like its sayin —>”I’m Rick James B!t@#!”
@JAHPSON-***** YOU HAVE ***** ON YOUR BREATH RIGHT NOW. STOP TALKING BEFORE YOU EXPOSE YOURSELF FURTHER.
@ Teedy
LMAO. how old are you young child?

ERR, with all these comments i hope no one is really batting for Souljah Boy..i mean his follow up single was ‘ Yahhh Trick Yahhh ‘!
Although i don’t believe Souljah Boy single-handedly killed rap/hip-hop..he definitely helped it’s demise
@Jahpson
so get off your high horse and tend the crops
Oh, ohh!! It seems you’re getting personal and showing your true “colors”. Tend the crops!! I know you can read these posts and determine I’m not tending crops but I guarantee you YOUR ANCESTORS (if you’re African American) & MINE did tend crops. Therefore, I don’t make ignorant comments like that when I can’t defend my thoughts.
————————————————–
And I find it hilarious some of you posters try to sound all big and intelligent.
We are all educated and have jobs. I go on this website to wild out, have fun and make jokes.
————————————————–
Yes, I am educated but I don’t have a job (but I’ve been employed before so no disrespect). I’m self employed and decided to take a day off and enjoy myself and surf the web since I can’t do this ordinarily and I came across comments by some of my so called (brothers and sisters) that found it hilarious to stigmatize a region based upon a few musical artists. Then the comments went from talking about the artists to describing a region by stating, people look greasy like they came off of slave ships and now, tend the crops. Makes me wonder, is this person African American and CONFUSED or simply a non-minority that doesn’t care. I don’t find humor in degrading the plight of my ancestors by referencing their conditions as greasy after coming from the slave ships or their jobs to tend crops! Sorry, not funny at all!!
Hello Cage…
idk if you saw my comment yesterday but i love the family gravie!..even though it’s disappeared today..
which brings the question.. Bossip why are people’s gravies disappearing?
P.S. THE STATEMENTS THAT I AM MAKING TO PRETENDING TO MAKE IT RAIN, ITS 6AM SO MY MOMMA KICKED ME OUT AND JAHPSON THE ***** MONSTER IN NO WAY REFLECT MY THOUGHTS ON THIS TOPIC (REFER TO MY ABOVE POST). SINCE YOU THREE *****ES THINK SLAVERY IS A JOKE AND DOWNING A REGION OF PEOPLE YOU DON’T KNOW IS COOL. IT IS MY DUTY AS A BLACK SOUTHERN WOMAN TO PUT YOU IN YOUR PLACE. I SEE TWO HAVE LEFT THE BUILDING AND LAWN TRIMMER IS ON HER WAY OUT.
@bree is an OBAMA supporter.. YES WE CAN!(Check me out!)
ERR, with all these comments i hope no one is really batting for Souljah Boy..i mean his follow up single was ‘ Yahhh Trick Yahhh ‘!

Souljah Boy didnt kill rap/hip hop, he killed the english language
@ Teedy
you sound like an angry southern woman….
@ Bree: No, didnt even see it, i would have definitely responded. Thanks!
And my gravy disappears depending on which computer I use. I post from 2 different laptops, and on this one, NO GRAVIE
If it wasn’t for the old school there would be no hip-hop. The problem with today’s artists is that they do not study the culture as a whole. By implicating their age as an excuse is an insult. A Tribe Called was formed when they were teenagers including Run-DMC,LL Cool J, and list goes on. How long will these record companies continue to exploit our culture? You would of thought by now that we would of formed our own distribution companies by now. It 2008 and cats is still talking about they have their own label, freakin dummies they are considered as a tax write off, besides *****z don’t really dance anymore they just snap their fingers and two step!Wake up! Hip-Hop!
@JASHPON- AND YOU SOUND LIKE YOU JUST ATE SOME *****.
@Jahspon
Not everyone thinks of the “Dirty Souf” as a kingdom.
I don’t think of any region in this country as a kingdom!
I have to go now. I’ll leave you to squabble with the others but in the future, if you are African American, have respect for YOUR people, wherever they reside! It doesn’t matter the locale, you can dislike certain artists from any region and you can freely state your opinions but when you begin to perpetuate an image of Southerners tending to crops and looking greasy like they came off of a slave ship, you have taken your opinions to a different level and really every African Americans on this site should have been on your a**. Consider those same words coming from a Caucasian or Hispanic, and if you are African American (because I cannot tell), you would not find the humor in it!!
Slumlord Shabazz

Souljah Boy didn’t ruin hip hop. Hell them D4L idiots had a hand along with Dem Franchise Boys. And along with the business men who think signing these people is a good idea. Don’t just blame it on one person, these other fools are wack too! Ice-T needs to just stick with Law & Oder: SVU.

THAT CD WAS OFF THE CHAIN!
OK CARRY ON
I KNOW THE ONLY TIME YOU REALLY GET INSULTED IS WHEN THE ***** WALKS AWAY. NOW AM I RIGHT OR AM I RIGHT. LOL HA HA HAAAAAAAA.
I 1000% AGREE! I live in Atl & I can’t even listen to the radio. Southern hip hop is noise to my ears. You can go in the studio 3pm and make a song about booty butt cheeks. At 6pm, Greg Street will put that mess on. You can’t half understand what they are saying cause most of them talk like they have a 6th grade education. At least with the NY and west coast rappers, you could understand them.
I was on youtube last night watching some old Rakim videos. There is no one on the scene today that can flow like him.
SO ANYGRY! I thought White Booty made black guys happy. LMAO!
@Teedy
Sorry, I’m a WOMAN!! I’ve read your comments and the problem is everyone wants to categorize hip hop/rap but no one realizes that there are different facets to it and all audiences do not want the same thing. Britney Spears did not sing the same type of songs as Madonna but she had her audience and I cannot recall Madonna fans stating Britney ruined Pop music. System of a Down (rock) fans did not go beserk because of Limp Bizkit (which was not a great rock group). You will have some 19 year old African American college kids that will enjoy Common but when they go to a club, they want to hear a D4L or Franchise Boyz. You can’t place hip hop/rap in one box and expect it to appeal to all listeners. What the older African American hip hop/rap fans should be doing is determining why there are no media outlets to promote the music you prefer? The 20 year olds and 40 year olds are listening to the same radio station and because the younger listeners are more supportive to the artists they prefer, who do you expect the radio stations to cater to? Why aren’t you supporting the artists you prefer? We can lists all of these “GREAT” artists but they can’t sell 100,000 copies of their CDs or generate that many downloads, WHY?
*Dang, I’m suppose to be GONE!!
@TEEDY
I WAS HALFWAY THERE WITH YOU REGARDING THE WHOLE ISSUE BEING THE RECORD COMPANIES AND SO FORTH. (EVEN THOUGH I DO THINK THAT SOULJA BOY SHOULD KICK ROCKS..lol) BUT YOU WERE SO MUCH CALMER THIS MORNING. WHAT IN THE BLAZES HAPPENED?
I was on youtube last night watching some old Rakim videos. There is no one on the scene today that can flow like him.
WTF I had said something after that comment that Somer made SMDH

OOPS
AND MIDWEST
M daddy … LMAO at your “laffy taffy” comment… that was about the silliest song out??
@Sepiastar-SORRY ABOUT SISTER. I DON’T LIKE THIS NEW RISE UP AGAINST THE SOUTH THING. THERE IS ROOM IN MUSIC FOR EVERYONE. LIKE I SAID SOMEBODY HAS TO LIKE THIS MUSIC ARE IT WOULD NOT BE SELLING. I THINK THE REAL REASON FOR ALL THIS HATE IS BECAUSE #1 THE SOUTH IS HOT RIGHT NOW, SAME AS THE WESTCOAST WAS HOT ONCE AND NEW YORK. EVERYONE HAS THERE TIME TO SHINE. #2 OTHER ARTIST ARE UNABLE TO COME UP WITH SOMETHING FRESH AND NEW THAT PEOPLE WANT TO HERE. IF IT IS ALL THAT UP NORTH WHY IS IT THAT JADA KISS CAN’T SELL, LIL KIM CAN’T SELL, *****ODY IN G-UNIT CAN SELL EXCEPT FOR 50 CENT AND HE ONLY DOES BECAUSE HE PICKS WITH PEOPLE LIKE A SCHOOL YARD BULLY AND THE THERE SO CALLED FANS WHO DON’T EVEN BUY THERE RECORDS GET ON BLOGS AND START TALKING ABOUT SLAVES AND OTHER IGNORANCE. ALL I CAN SAY IS BEFORE YOU HATE ON SOMEONE UP YOUR OWN GAME. I KNOW ONE THING WE SUPPORT EACHOTHER DOWN HERE I KNOW EVERYBODY IN NEW ORLEANS BOUGHT WAYNE’S DISC (NOT DOWNLOADED). EVEN IF YOU DON’T LIKE HIM HE IS YOUNG AND BLACK AND DOING HIS THING SO WE SHOW SUPPORT. MAYBE YOU GUYS UP NORTH SHOULD TRY THAT INSTEAD OF PUBLICLY BLASTING PEOPLE WHO ARE SIGNED TO YOUR LABEL 50 CENT.
Iced tea..yo old azz..stop hating. You probably mad cause you couldn’t do the dance. That arthritis done kicked in on that azz! lmao ! stop hating on the kiddies..shame on you.
@sxyQblondie- GIRL THEY WENT CRAZY STARTED TALKING ABOUT SLAVES AND ***** AND I JUST DON’T BELIEVE IN TURNING THE OTHER CHEEK. I BELIEVE IN SLAPPING A *****.

AND WHAT EVER SOULJA IS TALKING ABOUT IN HIS SONGS ITS BETTER THAN RAPPING ABOUT KILLING EACH OTHER.
Its6amHoGetOut
(Check me out!)

@MS. SUGAR WALLS
GIRL, SPOTTIEOTTIEDOPALISHUS IS MY MAIN RINGTONE RIGHT NOW. LOL
How can he say Soulja Boy killed hip hop? There are so many different forms of hip hop that there really isnt a way to kill it. If you dont like him just dont listen to him; if he comes on your favorite station turn that sh*t and some complaining about him. I like Soulja Boy, he makes alot of fun music just to listen to. He is young you really cant expect too much but he is doing way better than alot of older rappers who have fell off. Im not really a fan of Hurricane Chris but if he want to rock some damn beads let him go ahead and do so. If you Ice T can be a cop then Hurricane Chris can rock some beads. And Southern rap aint garbage there alot of great artists from the south. Where the north at anyhow?
umm no babe
the beads are for little girls…can u imagine having sex with a guy that wears beads??
sxyqblondie…. nice gravy… i know the guys are feeling your lips b/c im feeling them and i aint no homo… but you do have nice lips like mine and i had to put that out there, without being homo!!!!
@ ms braided beauty
GIRL TRUST YOU ME, I HOPE I DO TO. SHOOT THESE PEOPLE ON THIS JOB TODAY, THE DAY BEFORE, AND PROBABLY THE DAY AFTER, ARE CRUISING FOR A BRUISING!!(lmfao) I NEED SOMETHING TO RELAX MY DAMNED BRAIN.
ms sugar walls… can you imagine having sex and he says ok i got to get up my mommys coming???? wtf???LOL!
sxyqblondie…. i know what you mean some of those folks on these jobs can get on your last nerve… i use to work with a jamaican woman who use to copy every thing i did… she got my last nerve handing by a lil bitty thread!!!
@ms braided beauty
THANKS MUCH. WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, I WONDERED WHERE ALOT OF THE FEATURES ON MY FACE CAME FROM. MY MOTHER AND I LOOK ALOT ALIKE, BUT ALL OF OUR FEATURES ARE DIFFERENT. THEN I MET MY FATHER FOR THE FIRST TIME RIGHT BEFORE I TURNED 27, AND I SAW WHERE ALL OF IT CAME FROM. HE AND I ARE THE SPLITTING IMAGE OF ONE ANOTHER. SO I GUESS I CAN THANK HIS GOOD FOR NOTHINGNESS FOR SOMETHING.(LOL)
To the lame ***** Ms. Sugar *****…….What is their to hate about southern rap. That term “Hating” is getting so over used. People use it when it’s not needed. What is there to hate about a bunch of rappers who can barely speak english. If it were not for rap they could not get a job. Why would I lie about living in Atl. Do you think every one in Atl like that noise. Most people I come in contract with on a daily basis is NOT from ATL. We know how to talk. As soon as you hear a someone talking like T.I, you know that fool is from the A.
sxyqblondie….i know genes are a trip… i have big legs and hazel eyes like my mom,,, and her mom had the same… the only thing i got from my father is his attitude as my mom says… she gets mad and says you are a meany like your dad! my mom is biracial but her hair is a better texture than mine,,,, mine is more co*****r and thicker!!!
i see we are still debating whether a 17 yr old(souldja) should be making a song about supermanning hoes and hes 17 NOT APPROPRIATE PEOPLE… AND @SHAY THAT ISNT HIP HOP.. I DONT GIVE A ***** WHERE YOU FROM
I need Ice-T to realize that most of the young people listening to hip-hop right now cannot name ONE of his songs… and some of the people who were young when he was popular cannot name one of his songs.
Furthermore, I need Ice-T to realize that more important than hip-hop is the black race, and that a grown-***** black man insulting black teenagers by calling them *****s and telling them to “eat *****” is far more destructive to our community than a few unintelligent, though catchy, rap/pop songs by some young black men who could be doing far more destructive things with their time.
what is lame?? is you gracey calling me ms. sugar *****..that is the lamest ***** ever..come with something original…boring b*tch! and uppity black b*tch…all southern people talk with a drawl..that is the way it goes, and some of the deep southern people have decent jobs, and are ceo’s! Your opinion is ***** on a stick to me..which means(NOTHING!) why don’t u go slurp on 1am small nuts…B*tch!
so which one are you? are u somer or grace..because if u are not somer..I don’t think that i was talking to u..but if u have a guilty conscience..then b*tch i must of said the truth!
and when u get through jabber mouth skank…
U are still black b*tch..u can’t scrub it off
@ms braided beauty
TELL ME ABOUT IT. THEY MIXED ME ALL UP IN THE GAME. I GOT MY MOTHERS HEIGHT 5 FT EVEN. BUT MY FATHER IS LIKE 6FT1. BUT APPARENTLY BOTH OF THEIR METABOLISM IS HIGH AS GAS, CAUSE I EAT LIKE A PIG, AND AT ALMOST 30, IVE GOT A SMALL SHAPELY PHYSIQUE.(GOD KNOWS IM GLAD ABOUT IT WITH THE WAY I EAT..LOL)THEN MY POPS SKIN TONE IS FLAWLESS, AND HE P*****ED THAT DOWN. AND I AM GLAD ABOUT THAT ONE! CAUSE I AINT THE ONE FOR THE PATCHES OF DISCOLORATION AND ACNE, I WOULD LOOSE MY BRAINS FOR REAL!! FUNNY THING IS REALIZING HOW MUCH YOU PICK UP FROM A PERSON YOU HAD NEVER SEEN IN 20 + YRS OF YOUR LIFE. NOW THAT WAS AN INTERESTING EXPERIENCE.
B*tches perping like the live in ATL
funky mouth ho’s
Ice got a point but ain’t *****ody checkin for all those names he mentioned either. Yeah, they were the beginning but it’s a new day. And hell naw Soulja Boy ain’t rippin’ it…but who said this kid is hip hop anyway? I would say he’s…some other type *****. But he’ has a market and numbers don’t lie. And when was the last time somebody asked a “forty somethin’” what they thought about anything. We don’t matter. And it’s not a bad thing…let these kids have their “thang”. Remember TRACEY(Ice T’s real name) our mommas thought we were whack too!!
@M-Daddy
Thanks for bringing up that 99 problems Ice T did back in the day With one of the cats from 2 Live Crew, that ***** was off the hook. Jay Z version couldnt touch that one!
Damn, Why not blame Soulja Boy for all the worlds problems!
ummm that was me!
Blame the consumer. Execs go where the consumers go.
So if you dont like the music, stop buying the CDs plain and simple.
———————————————–
What is getting PUMPED out on the radio stations and BET?
There is no BALANCE in the music being played on the radio and TV unlike with our white radio stations and Tv shows.
You won’t hear Romeo, Mos Def and others on black radio stations. You’ll hear Boosie, Soulja Clown, Lil Wayne, No Cents and other clowns. So guess who music gets bought in stores. Who new cds are pumped up on the radio and magazines? How many ads for KeKe Palmer’s very good cd were seen? Now how many for Plies? I saw an entire house covered with flyers for that cd.
The stations that do play Romeo, Corbin Blu, Raven and others don’t care about ratings or are Disney owned.
Even if these guys come up with POSITIVE songs-no radio station will get played as proven by Plies Driving My Momma Crazy-good song that is ignored in favor of Bust It Baby or Water.
The difference between Soulja Boy and Kid N Play, Kriss Kross, Biz Markie, Tag Team, Positive K and Digital Underground (at times) is the content of their songs.
These guys weren’t talking about peeing on girls, beating up teachers, disrespecting adults, cussing, gambling, strippers or fighting folks.
Break down Soulja Boy’s songs and most of them are degrading to women.
That’s why his music is banned at some school in Texas.
And I don’t listen to most of the crap being called hip hop. I am an EDUCATOR in the school system that is seeing the negative side of this mess.
I got BLACK kids:
That want to die like a goon in the streets.
That beaten teachers up because Soulja Boy said beat up teachers that give you a D
That a women’s place is on a man’s ***** or a stripper pole
That women are UNEDUCATED
That think it’s alright to call women hoes and *****es
That think cops are all evil
That are dropping dead because they get on the syrup like Weezy
That it’s all right for a women to be BEATEN by a man
That education is a joke
That white folk are evil
So please don’t give me that BULL***** about hip hop being good for our kids in the current state that it is in.
——————————————–
Numbers do lie when his stuff is blasted at the one place anyone can be famous-SPORTING EVENTS.
Now how many times have watched a game and heard Tag Team? Or Queen’s We are the Champions? Or In The Club? Rocky’s theme-Eye of the Tiger? Shaft? Will Smith’s Summertime?
Now go to any arena and I bet a Soulja Boy song will get blasted and folks will dance.
Also go to dance recitals-you see white kids dance a storm to some of these very songs tha Ice T is yelling about. All you do is change certain words and you can get away with it until someone looks it up.
okay ghost
I am feeling that
I hardly think Ice “Mr. Former Pimp” T is in a position to judge anyone, but I do agree with his *****essment of Souljah Boy. I was never a fan of Ice-T’s, but at least I could understand what he was saying on his tracks.
And Rakim was a Master, and I had a huge crush on Big Daddy Kane. He got the job done. . .:)
hip hop has been raped for years its not soldier boy and you can’t blame it solely on the industry people like things that are catchy so blame stupid people that like songs with contact and just a catchy hook but hip hop has always had that factor about it there is always going to be some cornball songs please in life as well as music you need those silly songs who wants to be on some nas ***** all the time and who is ice-t to talk he made that dumb song cop killer but his ***** is always playing a cop on tv and movies so he should eat ***** cuz he is just as bad as they are its all bout the money obviously so he should not be trying to knock anybody elses hustle
he killed law and order with his tired looking *****
Southside born and raised….I see there’s a lot of animosity about the SOUTH in here…so; I couldn’t have picked a better time to represent it!!! Holla back bytches!!!
Ummmmmmmmmm….why is Ice T attempting to start beef with a 17 year old boy anyway? Perhaps he’s upset because his career ended SEVENTEEN years ago? Hmmmmmm.
Everytime I see dis’ ***** his hand his stuck up that dirty bytch’s azz. If he’s so disappointed with hip hop- he should get his finger out of this ho’s butt and get in the studio. I lost respect for his azz when I found out that he was previously one of Superhead’s tricks.
okay
I just kicked open the door..who is in here with me!
btw
I am listening to a southern rapper..right now
PLIES! Ms. pretty pu33y! he was talking about me! lol
Da Darkness…we living in the best times of music sorta.
Have you lost your rat ***** mind? The majority of these rappers oout here are dumb as *****, have no social conscious and will be broke when it’s all said and done because they invest in bull***** like jewelry. I don’t really like Ice T, but he’s right. Instead of younger rappers raising the bar, they slid backwards and started promoting bull***** and ripping off other peoples music. A bonifide rapper with skills can rap without all the bull***** of drugs and disrespecting black women.
@ 1 tru Diva
I was referring to what Gracie and other’s were saying about the music from the south. I wish that ***** was in here so that I could call her azz out. Sugar Walls; you handled her well…but there’s still more I would like to add to it!
blatttt—blatttt-blattt—-blatttt!
**blowin’ smoke off my nine**
**steppin into the room**
Now THAT’S how you step into a room!
What up ladies?!!
Lol!!!!!!!!!!
The reason I didn’t come on this thread earlier–
I took one look @ Ice-T and said “here HE go with this bull-*****!
How the hell he gone talk about somebody when he tried to act all hard back in the day–talkin’ ’bout “eff the police and *****” now he plays one?
Tell that Butter colored ***** I said to STFD and STFU!
Dodging the bullets
heyyy diva..stop shooting, you should of shot 1am in his *****….damnit! lets bounty hunt his ***** *****..what do u think?
i said the same thing, but he is telling the truth diva!!!
i think that the ***** played a cop in new jack city! I almost forgot! I guess that is why he thinks that he gets the law and order p*****! lol
Damn!
I’m reading some of this ***** and I’m LMAO!
WTH????????????
The thing about Ice is–don’t try to knock Soulja’s hustle–especially if he’s eatin’ the same way you chose to. Personally, I think Ice is a sell out!
Soulja boy–talking about “supermannin’ that ho” I think he’s tryin’ to capitalize on the market (hip-hop) that is out there today. He’s doing no different than others because if he was, why does all of the music represent the same thing? i.e. chicks, 1/2 naked posted up on a car, gold teeth, rims, flashing money, etc?
He’s doing no different than others.
Somehow–we have to find a way to change the mindset of our youth. The sad part about it is that we all talk that game but when are we going to start playing that game.
SMH!!!!
I think I’ll write a letter to Mr. Ice T.
Dear Mr. Ice T
Good Evening!
I read your comments on BOSSIP in regards to the young man affectionately known as Mr. Soulja Boy.
However insightful and thought provoking you may feel you are, please do us a favor by–
Sitting…the…*****…down…and…shutting…the…*****…up!
Thanks!
P.S. Please tell your wife I said “hello.”
Sincerely,
1TruDiva w/The PlatinumVocals!!!
You’re all crazy for caring this much about a style of music. Get a life!
I’m crazy for commenting.
WTF???????????
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!
BTW—I hardly EVER stay on topic!!! Life is just too short!
**scrolling BACK up to see exactly how many posts I typed that was ACTUALLY on topic**
Yep! Just what I thought. Consider me cyber ADD!
Lol!!
Goodnight all!
**1TruDiva has left the building**
My Business checking in and now I’m out! One shout to 1Tru I see you still keep it poping in here!:)
Hip hop can be interpreted anyway you want. Soulja Boy and the rest are doing their thing and making money period. And when was the last time 50 year old T made a hit? Damn, has the nicca ever had a hit? He was wack back in the day and he’s still wack. But his wife is hot and playing the hoe role b/c is sells. Like her ***** per hour.
@ 1 TruDiva….You’re so right!
Ice should think about all the bullets he put into Hip Hop before he start downing another!
Ice T needs to shut the ***** up….He is the ULTIMATE sellout in so many other ways… What a old tired ***** loser, man
I’m in 100% agreement with Ice-T. Ever since the nation went PC, music has totally effen suxed! F*ck the FCC, those artists who water down and make hip hop, radio and those who use religion and children to redefine the constitution!
She is really hot,i know we men have lots of standards to pick up a woman, but we all find the right girl in our demands on a tall dating club:___T a l l m i n g l e .c o m__ my bros told me this; it worked for them, it worked for me; and i’m sure it’s gonna work for u, buddy!!
pure comedy. i really needed a good laugh. thanks ice-t.
Thanks ICE for saying what many of us who have been listening to the music for too longnow and thsi latest sht is garbage.
hip hop isn’t dead. it’s just that the true talent isn’t being marketed. you never see real talented meaningful artist like common, lyfe jennings, lupe fiasco, anthony hamilton, etc. etc on 106 and park, or anywhere else because they dont exploit money, women, clothes, or rims in their videos. hell, most videos don’t even have nothing to do with the songs like they use to. i now understand when my parents would say “yall dont know nothing bout good music”. i prefer to listen to the 70s, 80s, and early 90s when music had a meaning, and songs were memorable. how did we go from “a change gone come” by sam cooke to “bust it baby”?
first of all who the ***** care about what
I tea think hell look at his name sound gay to me he must be mad cause he caught his little ***** listenting to his music stop the ***** u just mad cause they selling cd and your lame ***** didnt listen and learn maybe the can help your dumb ***** fool
my dougie…..
ghost- i agree with you 100%. i am also an educator. i educate all races of children, and honestly, this hip hop today is mostly only affecting (not all) our black children.i hear the little boys aspiring to be goons with a platinum grill driving an old school with 26s on it and the little girls wanting to be video vixens and their boyfriend’s “bust it baby” rather than scientists or doctors. they know all the words to “bust it baby”, “get silly”, and “lollipop” but dont care to know about billie holliday, count basie, or even michael jackson and whitney houston back in the 80s. some of our children think it’s the best thing to get a “d” on their report card because soulja boy said it. i hear the children chanting all day “i’m so hood” cause trick daddy , plies, and wayne said it. there’s even songs where im from that actually glamourizes being on WIC, food stamps, and being on medicaid, and how it’s cool to call yourself retarded and stupid and riding the short bus is “pimping” and the children ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT..what is this teaching them? this new hip hop music is a major influence on OUR children, so much so a lot of school districts feel that the only way our children (by no means not all children) can learn is in the form of rapping because that’s what gets their attention, and that’s sad..so i do agree with ice-t, because i see first hand the affects these songs are having on our children, and by no means is it a good one.

@ Kayla
Your post was on point!
I can’t even believe there are people defending Soulja boy! I guess as long as he’s making money that’s all that matters. That’s very juvenille in my opinion.
Some of you on this board act like clubs just opened and people had nothing to dance to before all this crap bombarded the industry. Sure there has always been terrible hip hop. I think the difference is there was way more of a balance back in the day (as mentioned before). Hip Hop was never one dimensional. However, even the wack stuff from back in the day had a much higher skill level then what we see today. Cooperate greed is the main culprit though. I’m glad to say I know not one of my hard earned $$ has supported this crap and won’t. I think the real problem with the South (not just exclusive to the south though) is that many of you support any and everything just because it’s from the South. This Rep your hood crap has also scorned hip hop. So many people are dead set on getting their city on the so called map, they are willing to support anything!! It’s really sad. This was not so much back in the day. Some of you keep making excuses about Soulja boy’s age, but it has been pointed out countless times that many of the greats were young. I don’t think it’s about the old people hating on the young. I really think it’s dissappointment that the younger generation isn’t stepping it up they are lowering the bar. Which is fine when all you care about is making money. But when you have a genuine deep rooted love of hip hop, it hurts. I will give the young people credit for coming up with better marketing strategies though. I would love to see Rakim or Big Daddy Kane make a comeback. However, I would be equally as pleased if a new person young or old stepped it up beyond that.
I also think it’s sad that for all successful black people in ATL it’s not really reflected in the music! I also thought it was funny when someone referenced what people don’t want to hear in a strip club. As if that’s something that should be a standard for what is quality music!
Ice T or wateva they call u, u chat so much *****. I dnt even think i knw u. I dnt lyk soulja boy too put not 4 me 2 start chatting ***** bout his music.. i think he alryt nd not doing bad 4 his age.. the dude is making money . wdf r u making,, no one knws u. so sdfu n**
I remember the year RUN DMC released their first album and break dancing was the *****. At that time, many of the old timers did not even recognize rap as music. It funny how thing are repeating themselves.
Ice T knows that songs are made of beats and lyric. While the current rappers’ songs do not provide depth or great love stories, the beats are still consistent with beats of the past.
In fact, the beats drive consumers to the songs. Take for instance, many people did not know the definition of Superman; they were attracted to the sounds of “Yull” on a great beat. Since the younger generation has the most disposal income available to be used in the entertainment industry, they control what they want to hear.
Inclosing, all of this talk of rap music is dying is a joke. Rap music or any form of music that combines dance, lyric, and beats will remain alive forever.
P.S. My advice to Ice T would be rather than hate on the direct of rap music, take these three critical elements and create something for your former fan base. If Rolling Stones can do it, what prevents you from generating income from your creative skills in a live performance?
Why is a grown ***** man who pimps out his wife in a thong talking ***** about some kids… get over it times have changed if you haven’t noticed………..your days are over and even if you might have a point those poor kids aren’t the only ones killing hip hop
It is ok to not understand another artist but as an artist you MUST respect the artist in order to remain positive in your position. Those artists of the past that were named in ICE-T’s p*****age are “rappers”. Many new artists are putting more meaning to the hip hop term. Rap and hip hop are two different categories so just consider yourself an MC, rapper or whatever you want to call yourself. DO NOT DISRESPECT THE POETRY OF ANOTHER ARTIST.
@ KINGDEON-COM
The difference is our parents didn’t take the time to pay attention to Hip Hop or rap back in the day. They only focused on the negative and were quick to dismiss it. However, many of those people had skills. They didn’t understand the art form. With Soulja Boy and people like him, there is nothing to misunderstand. They just suck there is no skill involved. There is a reason why so much repitition is being used in songs. It’s to get the song stuck in your head even if you don’t like it. That’s why there is no respect and won’t be none. I also disagree with the notion of supporting people because they are making money. Since when is okay to suck and be a success? Many good artist actually work at their craft and take it seriously.
Nat Turna
thank u for speaking truth, these nuccas would be where they deserve to be had it not been for nuccas like Collipark, they be on you tube making videos in the bathroom or momma’s backyard.
and big UP to all the people on here who could proly do the supaman in they sleep…u werent complaining when u were trying to get that dance down before u went to the club fake *****es. u only aided to the death of hip hop while u trying to blame the south. how about blaming 106 n park for force feeding this garbage.
Man I feel Ice T 100%….its the damn truth and the corn***** that dont agree with him are probably lovin that *****. Yeah its not like horrible to listen to but its certainly putting a bad rep on rap…
I think Ice T could have toned it done a little bit but hey that sht is annoyinng to deal with and its crazy these lames are making millions off fake rap. Im sorry its just my opinion…
Yeah and blame 106 and the teeny boppers that stay voting on the show!
Everybody has their own opinion about Soulja Boy and anyone else’s music they don’t like but you can’t knock him for what he does. He don’t appeal to everyone he mainly appeal to the teenagers and some adults, I have to admit I like his music but it’s not something I would listen to on a day to day basis. People don’t like to hear music that sound the same theres nothing wrong with being different, you stand out and thats what he did and hes going to continue to do what he do because there are a lot of people that do like him and his music and they buy it.
You are doing your thang baby…tell it like it is. Just like I said on MTO
Soulja boy, hurrican chris, ice-t etc. are not the reason for hip hop dying it’s fools like Jahpson & Its6amHoGetOut (switched it up for the bossip crew) that’s killin it by stereotyping the South. *****ody was saying the South was wack when OUTKAST, SCAREFACE, LUDACRIS etc. were hot. Why so many Northerners (or any other coast for that matter) feel they are the only ones who can tell a story of substance??? *****ody was saying the West was wack when ICE CUBE, SNOOP etc. were hot. Black people (us) are killing hip hop because we can’t even come together in the same d a m n country. Everything is East, West, South & North Coast…NO UNITY. AIN’T *****ODY start s h i t but the Radio Stations and the Television. The only reason anything became hot was because of these two things. If a person just had to hear the beat and lyrics only (without it being played 100 times on the radio and without a video) many of the artist from each coast wouldn’t be hittin on s h i t. People both young and old now base many of their liking to a song because of a video or if it was drilled in their head from other communication avenues such as radio station, clubs etc. Stop the self hate first and then maybe we can have better hip hop. If you pay attention both to R&B and Rap the artist mostly talk about somebody hating on them and that is only a reflection of how we feel and treat each other. There are plenty people in mainstream media that speak positve and with substance from all coast but keep it real you ain’t checkin for them. WE ARE KILLING HIP HOP NOT THE ARTIST OR CORPORATE AMERICA…stop buying the bulls h i t and instead buy REAL s h i t…We the buyers, control hip hop!
Also the sad thing is the South is always embracing every coast’s music either it be West, Mid West, or North but for some reason we gets no love. We even so much embrace my lip gloss is poppin, chicken noodle soup, ballin (Dipset), DMX with all that d a m n barking, Lil Kim with her ghetto ***** (No matter what people say-look at that video again…lol), Cameron with all that pink s h i t on and I can can go on forever but trust me you know what I’m getting at. All I’m saying is each coast has their share of fooly***** but the South embraced it all and showed much love to all and all we ask is the same respect. Take the good with the bad like we do with your city period!!!
the music that is coming out right now is the best. it has so much appeal to the world. it’s not just in the back woods anymore, nor from ones block its a mixture of the world, cause now we all have traveled. we’ve gone outta the country come back and was influenced, seen it, lived it, now we breath on these mics.
Ice T and everyone else that thinks that soulja boy is garbage needs to realize that soulja boy’s music is tailored to a younger audience. Didn’t your parents think that rap was garbage? So stop hating and congradulate a 17 year old young black man that has made it in the entertainment industry.
All of you are missing the point and the point is everyone is not gonna like everything, atlanta is on these dance move songs like two step, and superman and others thats them, if you dont like it dont listen noone said ***** when that chicken noodle soup bull***** came out why because it was New York trying to make another dance move besides the harlem shake and as far as sweet tea he went from gangster rap to heavy metal so souljha boy didnt kill hip hop because hes only one album in, the *****s that killed hip hop are the ones that came in one way and totally switched up to something else our music hip hop is the only music going through soo many different identities, look at heavy metal that ***** dont change, look at R and B that dont change ,as well as country, reggae ,blues and so on If you wanna know what song I think *****ed hip hop up, it was that party like a rock star song, after that ***** came out very it seemed that every ***** in the industry wanted to be *****ing rock star, I mean damn how in the hell can you let one one hit wonder group a new group at that come change your whole style, LITTLE WAYNE, FABOLOUS , NELLY , BIRDMAN, JIM JONES TO name a few when that bull***** came out ***** s pants got tighter as well as those gay looking tight shirts SO FRIST YOU WERE A GANGSTER AND NOW YOU WANNA BE A *****ING ROCK STAR SO THATS WHY HIP HOP IS DYING BECAUSE THESES MULTI-PLATINUM CLOWNS DONT KNOW WHAT THEY WANNA BE OUR MUSIC HIP HOP IS GOING THROUGH AN IDENTITY CRISIS….
To all you folks saying that the south killed this and the south killed that. You are what’s wrong with hip-hop today. The beauty of hip-hop is that it has no owner, no one has papers on hip-hop. It can be whatever the artist wants it to be. That’s why it has permeated American society the way it has. The minute you try to say that a generation of rappers are killing it makes you old and not hip hop. Our style of hip-hop may be dying but hip hop itself will never die. Even though Run DMC is one of the founders of Hip Hop I can’t say that I given them any play time this year. Biggie, Wu Tang, Old Nas, Red Man, Eric B and Rakim, EPMD, Keith Murray, Erik Sermon, Method Man, The Gza, DMX, The Roots, and Jay all stay in the rotation constantly. That’s my generation of hip hop. Kids today ain’t feeling the wu tang clan and I can guarantee they ain’t bumping no EPMD. That’s how it goes. Hip Hop has done what it always has done. It has changed. If you look hard enough you can still find new groups with lyrical content that speaks to you. But no it’s not just plain to see anymore. I don’t like Soulja Boy anymore than you other folks but like it or not he is hip hop. He found a way to connect with today’s market. Our generation sold out of the back of their cars, now artist’s can put up a video on youtube.com and self promote on a whole new level. You have to be able to see some similarities there. This post has already gotten too long, so there are my 2 cents.
There are wack Rappers from all over the country, not just the south. Anyway Rap is doing very well, but you won’t see it on bet/mtv(strictly pop and bull*****)or hear it on your local interactive Hip-Hop and R&B station. You have to go beyond the Music that is marketed to you all day, every day and find some of that good good.
Peace
I dont knock no ones hustle but that is Ice-T’s opinion, anyway RIP Victor thats my cousin that played lead drums in Ice-T’s band
it is hip hop, its his style of hip hop. and im from texas
LMMFAO… damn I can’t even comment on the matter at hand.. I done read every comment on here and I am seriously cracking the f*ck up!!
yall so stupid
I think that all cities have their own style. Meaning they may dress a certain way, dance a certain way, and even talk a certain way. Naturally if you’re not from there it will seem odd to you. A lot of people are prob. not feeling the south because u can’t relate and you don’t know what they are talking about. Everybody from the south that rap is not whack! Just say you don’t get it and u can’t relate.
Ice-T hasn’t been the world’s best example either. Let’s not forget his stance against police officers, but everytime you turn around this slick head ***** is playing a cop.
Ice, you can’t pick and choose what that kid did with his own art just like he didn’t tell you what to do with yours. If you were a real O.G. you would’ve handled that with more maturity instead of trying to give open heart surgery on a youngsta in front of every one.
DAMN RiTE Soulja Boy AND HiS WACK ***** MUSiC! DONT MAKE NO SENSE! RECORD SOME REAL *****!!
The man has a point!
@ Sepistar

outkast, scarface, & luda had major flavor any lyrics when the came out. they weren’t on a soulja boy bs sound when the drop! I don’t see your point here. Oh and i’m so w/ Ice on Hurricane chris and them dumb ***** braids.
Um, can we take a second and think about this? No matter what he thinks, Souljah Boi is not really a rapper. Though I think the fact that his music is even mentioned alongside Atlanta ARTISTS, I’m actually grateful for the kid. HE MAKES MUSIC THAT YOU DON’T MIND PRE-TEENS LISTENING TO. I’m sorry, but if he’s making goofy dances and comic book references, and the kids are eating it up– instead of planning on being gangsters as soon as their training wheels come off the bike–I’m all for it. All you hip-hop ‘purists’ who are so enraged by this brand of non-rap may in fact be the reason why kids are so dayum bad these days.

It’s good to hear a young man rap about out dancing someone like some old school hip hop, versus lying about what car he ain’t got and acting like his a big time dealer, or a pimp. Ice you do your stuff & and let that young man do his thing.
