…And how is Eddie a deadbeat father? He’s paying the court ordered child support. He has gone on record as stating that as long as Mel B is in the picture, he’ll have no contact with his daughter. After she’s 18 and on her own, it will be her choice whether she wants to build a relationship with him. Do i condone his decision, no, but i understand his position. I reiterate, don’t go and trap someone into fatherhood who doesn’t want it.

I doubt Eddie’s a deadbeat, because Im sure he’s apying for the child still. We may find it distastetful but he made it clear he never wanted a child w/ Mel and now that its proven he has one he’s paying for the child’s upkeep and handsomely at that. You can’t force the man to be a “father”. Nor should you force anyone who truly doesnt care for a child to be actvely engaged in the child’s life – that’s just a recipe for disaster.

Finally Mel is married and the child as far as she knows has a “father” – Stephen Belafonte. The kid’s already better off than most kids in this country, so let it go.

If that’s the case, then Eddie made a poor choice to not use protection or have a vasectomy. He was not “trapped” into having a child. He knew he didn’t want more children…he should have handled his business. Don’t make the poor girl suffer through life not having a bond with her natural father and then say “See me when you turn 18″. That’s callous and careless.

I wonder if Eddie gave any thought to how this baby is going to feel growing up knowing she has siblings that Eddie supports financially and emotionally, but doesn’t do the same for her.

I agree with everything you said. Regardless of what happened between them, they have a child and he should be in her life not just paying child support. Whoever said he’ll wait until after she’s 18, well isn’t that great for him. He gets to come in her life after all the hard work of raising her has been done? I don’t think so!!! I can’t say I blame Eddie for having a paternity test. If I was not married to my husband when I became pregnant, he would’ve been well within his rights to ask for proof. But I don’t understand condoning Eddie’s decision by saying his other children’s mothers haven’t complained. If he denies supporting one child to the fullest, then that’s one child too many.

Relationships sometimes don’t work out. There is never a valid reason for a man to stop being a father to his children. The same goes for the woman. She is equally wrong if she abandons her children. It is selfish to create children and walk away from them becasue they don’t like the other parent.

Children did not ask to be here. Children who are left abandoned are the ones who pay the ultimate price. If you are not prepared to parent a child, you should use the proper precautions and use birth control, or abstain.

Women are held accountable by the laws as well. If the custodial parent is the father, she is obligated by law to pay child support. If she does not she can be jailed as well.
