What is really going on in Hollyweird with people dying of cardiac arrest??? Brittany Murphy passed away early Sunday morning December 20th of a heart attack.

More details under the hood

The actress, who was only 32, went into full cardiac arrest and could not be revived. Fire officials say they received a call from Murphy’s husband Simon Monjack around 8 a.m. She was pronounced dead on arrival after being taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

  • Kioki

    She is too young for this mess- May she R.I.P

  • Sydney™

    @Word

    Wow, this has been some year. I think it’s the Academy Awards show that gives a tribute every year to people who have passed, and I think the number this year has been extraordinarily high (or it seems that way, IMO). Of course, many of us don’t know these celebrities personally, but it’s still sad to see such talented individuals leave this life, and at such young ages as well. You just never know when your time is going to come.

  • Nino Brown

    I wonder if i can get dibbs on her christmas presents. I bet i can get a hansome ransome on ebay for them. A n*i*g*g*a gotta get paid.

  • Sydney™

    @Nights Over Egypt

    Yes, same here. It was a very sad summer for me.

  • WordtotheWise

    Yeah Sydney. There does seem to be more deaths this year than anytime before. I actually love to see the “In Memoriums” during the awards show. Sometimes you see people you didn’t even know had died. The biggest shock for me was Michael’s death. Girl, that hit home. Having grown up with that him. Whew!

    Yep, we never know when our time is coming.

  • neema

    wow, she didn’t even get to see 2010, rip

    RIP WE WILL MISS U

  • ebGCH

    I really liked her…

    She was so beautiful.

    God Bless

  • Janae

    I am SO SORRY to hear this. How sad. I don’t know if she did drugs or anything. But, I have read that people who suffer from anorexia or are severely underweight can suffer from heart attacks. The reason is that when the body is not getting sufficient nutrients/calories from the diet, it will use its own tissues for energy. The goal of weight loss is for the body to use the excess fat tissues stored on the body. However, the body will also consume its own protein (muscle mass) for energy. The heart is a muscle. The difference between heart muscle and your quadriceps (for example) is that you can build up your quadriceps via exercise, but you cannot do the same for cardiac muscle (I read this elsewhere. I think it’s true, but now I’m wondering because some EXTREMELY obese people have enlarged hearts.) Anyway, I read about a woman who recovered from anorexia, and she said that though she is now healthy, her heart is still weakened from the tissue she lost during her illness. That’s why we should have a focus on being HEALTHY not SKINNY because you can die from being too thin as well. God bless her family.

  • Nights Over Egypt – Jamaican Sunrise

    in regards to alaina reed from 227 (which by the way was one of my shows, mmhmm!) i’ve notices that a lot of black folks are being diagnosed with cancer or dying because of cancer. my uncle passed away last month from it. though i think it was just family drama that may have put stress on his heart and took him away. and his daughter had a bout with breast cancer and survived.
    i’m not saying this because i think cancer doesn’t affect black people but it just seems like too many of us are having to deal with it. maybe it’s because i’m getting older so i’m becoming more aware but it still seems a bit strange.

    Ms. Reed, R.I.P.

  • Sydney™

    @Word

    I like that segment of the Oscars as well, although it always seems to tug at my heart strings. Like you said, I often see faces of people I hadn’t realized were no longer with us.

    Girl, the day that MJ passed will definitely stay with me for quite some time. I, too, grew up on his music, and I felt like I lost part of my childhood. It was a massive shock.

  • WordtotheWise

    @Nights Over Egypt – Jamaican Sunrise,

    I’m sorry to hear about your uncle’s p.a.s.s.i.n.g. I offer my condolences. My grandmother and aunt died of cancer. It runs in my family.

    Ya know, sometimes I think it’s the hormones and additives in our food that might contribute to the cancer diagnosis because I know people whom have taken great care of themselves. They eat right, don’t smoke, etc., yet they get cancer. Hmmmm.

    Again, I’m sorry for your loss, and I hope the family drama has ceased.

  • Sydney™

    @Nights Over Egypt

    Yes, African Americans tend to suffer disproportionately from cancer and other diseases. Breast cancer, in particular, has a higher rate of fatality among black women (who tend to be diagnosed later, which hinders their treatment), and it has been an issue in my family for years.

    @Word

    I’ve seen “This Is It” twice as well, and I still listen to his music every week. I totally concur with you — Michael was an absolute genius. And, I guess, part of me did think of him as invincible — In fact, the day of his death, a friend of mine called me to tell me that he had been taken to the hospital, and we talked about all the close calls MJ had over the years. I really thought that he was going to bounce back. When I was told by a co-worker that he had passed, it was like a dam burst inside me. I couldn’t believe it.

  • Sydney™

    In regards to Brittany, I know she’s probably best known for her roles in “8 Mile” and “Clueless,” but I thought her performance in “Girl, Interrupted” (which featured Winona Ryder, and Angelina Jolie won a Supporting Actress Oscar for her performance — Whoopi also appeared in the film) was one of her best, IMHO. I think she infused her acting with emotion, and she came across as sincere and unassuming. I think in some ways, she was underrated, and that’s part of what makes this loss so sad.

  • sugar star uk

    IT’S C*CAINE PEOPLE! C*CAINE!Any time a young person in good health has a massive heart attack, that’s the cause! Every time… Trust.

  • WordtotheWise

    @Sydney -

    Girl, it was very surreal to me too. I remember finding about his condition online and then turning on CNN. The first report I heard was that he had died, but I couldn’t find confirmation anywhere online. As a matter of fact, I was on the phone taking care of business for my mom and told the lady that MJ had died. She almost fell out her chair. We were both online looking and found out he was rushed to the hospital, and then the horrible news dropped. He died. Girl!!! I was like, NOOOOOO! You’re right – we always think they will bounce back. The same with Tupac. I didn’t think he was going to die either. We’ve lost a lot of greats over the years.

    She was extremely talented and I too loved her performance in Girl Interrupted…She also did the voice of a character on one of my favorite animated series King of the Hill(she did the voice of the clueless neice LuAnn)…RIP Brittany you will be missed…

    I did, girl. I started singing along with him, but I had to fight back the tears as well. I couldn’t believe it was the last time I would see him perform. It would have been an unforgettable show. He still had the magic — He never lost it.

  • Nino Brown

    sydney

    *Perhaps the lesson in all of this sudden loss is that we should express our love to the people around us while we can*

    You right, so in keeping in that spirit, i want to f*u*c*k u before your body gets cold. Lets make this happen.

  • Mmk…

    RIP

  • Sydney™

    Well, I think I’m going to try to venture out into the snow. Thanks for the conversation, ladies. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

  • GotYou

    There’s nothing funny about the pain death causes to a family. Prayers and well wishes to her family a friends.

  • WordtotheWise

    @Sydney -

    Yes, that was the beginning of Michael’s problems. I, too, hadn’t see the footage of his hair catching fire, and didn’t want to for a long time. He had third degree burns so I can imagine the pain he experienced.

    I couldn’t of said it better, Sydney, about how Michael touched every part of the world from children to the adults, from every corner of the world. There will never, ever be another Michael. Remember at the beginning of “This Is It” how the dancers talked about what a dream it was to be able to work with him. The emotion was so strong. Can you imagine how they felt when Mike died.

    For some reason, Sydney, we just don’t want to believe they will die. We know they are human (and I’ve never been one to worship celebs and never will), but there is a sense that maybe deep down, we do think they are invincible, but they are flesh and blood with frailties like the rest of us.

  • WordtotheWise

    Bye, Sydney! Be careful out there, sweetie. It’s been nice chatting with ya.

  • Nino Brown

    Dang woman, you want to f*u*c*k in the snow? You’s a kinky little freak.

    i hope this raises eating disorder and cancer awareness. people need to stick to the mediterranean diet. after my second child, i went from a 16 to a 6, sometimes 4. its delish and u wll have no body fat. its the diet god gave us. i swear if u get on this diet, u will never want to eat processed food again. mediterranean meals taste incredible! unnatural systematic deaths have to do with DIET.

    What the hell is going on??!!! WHy are so many people dying this year? Is this a sign of something or what?

    My sincere condolences go to Brittany Murphy’s husband and her family. Many of you may not believe this, but I’ve never seen ‘Clueless’ and never wanted to. I’ve seen do of her other lesser known films. and thought she was pretty funny.

    I’m still upset about the passing of Michael Jackson. I look up info on him EVERY SINGLE DAY and pray that his soul now has the peace he didn’t get when he was alive. I know it sounds obsessive, but I can’t help it.

    Back to Brittany, I can’t believe she died and they call it natural. How can a person die a ‘natural death’ at 32 years old? Did she have any health issues? Just don’t get it.

  • Shopgirl

    I believe it is strictly speculation at this point as to what caused Ms. Murphy to go into cardiac arrest, yet 9 times out of 10 what the media reports regarding cases like this one, turns out to be “spot on.” Eating disorders among young women and more recently women entering midlife is sadly far too common…It breaks my heart for all involved once an eating disorder takes hold of it’s victim and spirals out of control leaving one completely feelings of powerlessness to overcome it.Having said that, there is hope out there for anyone that may need answers from someone who’s ridden this roller coaster ride. If you are needing help or possible resources to reach out to, feel free to email me at shopgirlsworld@gmail.com.
