@ Pinay84 ..i feel you..i must say when my father and mother married..BOTH of their families were not approving. hell it was in the 70s so naturally racism was to be experienced..and it wasnt just my mothers family…but my father’s family(black people) who didnt like my mother…but seeing that my parents have been together for 30 some odd years…they cant hate on that and frankly…they could give a damn less what the color of our skin is…because love is color blind..especially when it comes to family. my black friends love to learn about my korean culture…and my white friends are the same way…people are so stuck in their own little box….i cant stand it…and whoever said something about ‘claiming’ a side..there is no ‘claming’ a side..its about ‘accepting’ accepting who you are and living with it….who the hell cares about anyone ‘claiming’ me..i claim my damn self every year on my taxes….go kick rocks….and it amazes me on how so many people give their opinions on something they know nothing about..you cant say what you will do in a situation unless you are in that situation..and since you will never be asian/black…please refrain from what you ‘will’ do if it ‘was’ you….

instead of advicing the girl how to cope, we still saying onething or the other which is not neccesary, i think what the girl should do is,even though the man is stupid by living her wife with kid,the fact is that the girl have now find out that she is not real chinese,and she also know that no matter the maximum level of her personality in this china it will take her century to get normal life in china,so i advice her mother and the girl to look the way to send her to america where she can feel better respect,no matter how stupid the man is, let the girl go and look for her father’s identity,i mean the man’s farmily or if the man is still alive go and see that man,then if u know any action u will take,that will be when u know where u come from ,the fact is that u are not chinese

I was sorry to hear about what this girl had to go through. I hope she is a stronger person for this experience. This must be a painful experience for her, but bringing the widespread ugliness of racism to light may help even a few of her countrymen to change their thinking. I would hope they would be more concerned about shipping out lead laced products to the world instead of bullying one poor little girl.

I know exactly what you mean I am half filipino and half black(my mother is filipino and my father is black). I experienced the hate from many black girls growing up because of the way I look. I have long naturally curly hair which I often straighten, light skinned, and chinky eyes My aunts have married and had kids with other races and my filipino family has been very accepting of the people their biracial kids choose to bring home and date. I love bringing new people around and giving them insight on my culture, from the foods we eat to the our rituals. (Shout out to someone who wrote something earlier about kimchi, love it! People basically just need to be a little more open minded and not be so negative toward things that are unfamiliar to them.
