KHIA IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF AN IMAGE THAT THE POWERS THAT BE ARE TRYING TO INSINUATE ABOUT BLACK WOMEN.

    BLACK WOMEN ARE:

    1) UNEDUCATED, DEPENDANT AND UNFEMININE WOMEN.

    2) BLACK WOMEN ARE UNATTRACTIVE, OBESE, AND IMORAL.

    3) BLACK WOMEN ARE INADEQUATE, UNWORTHY, AND SELF-LOATHING NUT CASES.

THE GOVERNMENT WOULD RATHER SEE A BLACK WOMEN LIKE KHIA PUSHING TWO STROLLERS THAN A BLACK WOMEN LIKE A MICHELLE OBAMA IN CAP AND GOWN HOLDING A DIPLOMA

Any other ethnic group would have launched a campaign to stop VH1 from airing this show citing it portrays them in a racist and negative way. Any other ethnic group would have pressured the sponsors to pull out the show.

When I see pictures of black women like this I think of all those blacks that fought and died so we could be somebody and stand proud and this is what happened instead. You are right, we are ASHAMED of the ones that bring SHAME ON US, like this female. And people, its not all about A CHECK – its about a race of people and having some self respect and dignity and setting a positive example. And you are also right about the industry paying low class females like this to portray the black female in a negative light. You think about that next time you females go on a job interview.

Khia is obviously the type that doesn’t care what white people think of her as long as she gets paid. Whites act a fool on TV too, they’re not all prim and proper. You have let those people go and just do you. People are gonna think what they want to think anyway. The only positive thing I can say about her is her natural hair. Too many tattoos on a female look gross though.

    I agree.

  • OMFG QC Cutie

@ LadyLOGICbeatzREASON – Whatare you talkingabout…She had ONE HIT SONG. Please don’t compare her to REAL female MCs (Latifah, MC Lyte, etc)

  • Really Tho

All I gotta say is that judging from the choices VH1 makes on the reality shows it presents to viewers anyone one of us on this thread can have a damn show.

And judging by the comments I’ve read that could be a classy, boring, hood, stupid, or interesting thing.

    Enough reality shows already.

    I’m ready for some fake s h i t.

  • Sydney™

I’m going to repeat something I wrote today in the old Hurricane Chris thread before it was pulled — Someone, please tell me I’m dreaming. This isn’t actually going to air on a national network, is it?

And it’s called “Anger Management?” Has this person heard of the “Angry Black Woman”/Sapphire stereotype?

Enough is enough. We need to bring back “The Cosby Show.”

  • LadyLOGICbeatzREASON

    @ OMFG QC Cutie
It’s pretty clear you’re a pinhead. And you might be stuck in the time warp we affectionately call The 80s. I take nothing away from my hiphop icons, but get over yourself, ma. Did you even read my post, or are you just bored today and need someone to mix it up with? Allow me to oblige.

Music is not a static thing. It’s dynamic. Meaning, it has the capacity to change and evolve.
And I never said I thought Khia was an emcee. I said she was an accessible rapper and a shrewd businesswoman who isn’t pretending to be a Barbie so fans can better digest her appearance. Bringing Latifah and Lyte into the discussion is a classic red herring. (look that one up. I’m sure it was over your head. Google Red herring.)

As for the one hit song issue, try doing that in today’s musical climate. As a woman. With no male crew to hold you up. It’s not like it’s a simple thing. If you made music, you’d know that. It’s clear you don’t.

And I’m sure you could get a reality show. Everyone loves a clown.

  • http://bossip I`ll Talk about what I want to talk about Nucca !

Khia is the type of chick if you see her in the club one word comes to mind ! ” IMA TAKE A PASS ” ! LOL

Man Fugg dat ” if this chick was white but still her .. ” TIGER WOODS wouldnt smash ! And we know ol Tiger would smash anything as long as they are a Y T !

  • LadyLOGICbeatzREASON

    @Sydney

I respectfully disagree. (most respectfully, b/c I see you post thoughtfully and candidly.) What you’re saying is that in lieu of the “Angry black woman” stereotype, we should be embracing the black elitist ideal?

Look, I’ve been to college, have both parents, own a business, etc.. But I think we have to live in reality. Yes, there definitely need to be shows that reinforce positive ways of thinking/living for our youth. However, it’s ridiculously unfair to compare Khia to The Huxtables. A made up stereotype held up against a living, breathing woman who has as much a valid experience as any of us.

Yeah, it’s a bit cringe-worthy to think of anybody on television yelling about n***a this or that. But, there’s a lot more to this particular woman than those sound bytes. And it’s becoming too easy (as women especially) to silence other women for the sake of perceived progress. And as a woman, I refuse to be part of the male-dominated machine that seeks to silence her. If Ntozake Shange had been afforded the possibility of a reality show back in the day, I’m sure she’d have been met w/ some of the same criticisms. What about Nikki Giovanni? See, I take issue with any of us deciding that the cultural expression of one women is less relevant that the cultural expression of a woman who has been “educated.”

I will NOT be ashamed of any of what my people do, because they are me. I am them. And all of our experiences have validity–even if they aren’t as pretty as the package presented by Mr. Cosby for mass consumption. It’s still valid.

  • PradaMaMa

GROSS, DOES ANYONE SMELL FISH STICKS..

  • Sydney™

    @LadyLOGICbeatzREASON

“What you’re saying is that in lieu of the “Angry black woman” stereotype, we should be embracing the black elitist ideal?”

Would you rather a foul-mouthed, tattooed, “angry” black woman represent you in a medium that millions will view, not only here but across the world? Are we not already battling belittling, dehumanizing, stereotypical images on a daily basis? Do we need to add one more humiliating depiction to the mix?

“Yeah, it’s a bit cringe-worthy to think of anybody on television yelling about n***a this or that. But, there’s a lot more to this particular woman than those sound bytes. And it’s becoming too easy (as women especially) to silence other women for the sake of perceived progress. And as a woman, I refuse to be part of the male-dominated machine that seeks to silence her.”

I also respectfully disagree — This is one woman who should be silenced. Isn’t she the same person responsible for the lyrics, “All you ladies pop yo’ pu**y like this/Shake your body, don’t stop, don’t miss?” Tell me, what knowledge does she possibly have to bestow on her sisters, particularly impressionable young women?

And I’m sorry, but to even attempt to compare the great Nikki Giovanni (whom I’ve seen speak more than once in person and was in awe of her intellect and eloquence) to this individual is beyond insulting. You’re talking about two women who are polar opposites in how they carry themselves and their contributions to our culture. A poet/activist versus a filthy-mouthed rapper (or whatever you call her).

And a woman doesn’t have to have a college degree to carry herself with dignity and self-respect — none of which Khia appears to have.

Also, I can relate far more to the Huxtables than to Khia any day, and I know many African Americans who feel the same way. It’s much more than a “pretty package” for many brothers and sisters — it’s their way of life.

  • Sydney™

“Black women take some pride in being a lady. It’s not cute being hood. I’m sick of being represented in such a manner.”

I think part of the issue is that we have a subgroup of individuals — men and women — who are producing the majority of images that cultures around the globe have absorbed about black people. They represent a minority of African Americans, but they are portrayed as representing the race as a whole.

Some among us seem to think that said individuals are “keepin’ it real,” but they’re also being held up as typifying our ideals and values. It’s incredibly depressing (at least to me) that to a number of people, individuals such as our president and first lady are seen as anomalies or “not really black.” Qualities such as intellectualism, refinement, and ambition are not readily attached to us, and some of us appear to have accepted that mentality.

  • TRU_TO_ALL

KHIA WAS WACK, SHE WAS ON THAT REALITY SHOW WITH 3RD BASS AND GOT KICKED OFF THE SHOW, CUZ SHE COULDN’T FREESTYLE. SHORTY TRIED TO GET AWAY WITH SPITTIN ONE OF HER OLD RYHMES, SHE’S NOT NO RAPPER. PLUS SHE KEEPS ON TALKING ABOUT, MONEY, MONEY, MONEY, GET YOUR TEETH FIXED SHORTY, STRAIGHT UP. IGNORANCE IS AMONG US PEOPLE. HIP HOP IS NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE. HIP HOP IS DEAD!!!

  • LadyLOGICbeatzREASON

“Qualities such as intellectualism, refinement, and ambition are not readily attached to us.”

    Really???

    I never got that memo.

  • http://Bossip lady-mxj

I think that it’s sad that a woman from the richest country in the world feel this is the only way she can make a living.

  • Sydney™

    “I never got that memo.”

Funny, I think plenty have. The abysmal state of the perception of black Americans among people around the world is pretty well known, I think.

  • !!!!!

KHIA AND KELIS REMINDS ME OF EACH OTHER LOL.

  • Breezi

Ooohhh…not Kelis……um…..that’s my girl, and that Khia looks like the flying monkey from Wizard of Oz……

  • Romello Skuggs

According to VH-1 they have nothing to do with this project and it is not in development to be aired by them or any other Viacom network.

  • Romello Skuggs

Not only does VH-1 have nothing to do with this train wreck, she is actively shopping it around in the hopes that somebody will pick it up and air it. Having had one marginal hit several years ago with no follow up success,i can’t see how she would expect anyone to show any interest in a reality show about her. She should change the name from Anger Management to Delusional which is what she is.
