Breonna Taylor still deserves justice. Neither she nor her family has received any thus far.
Breonna’s grieving boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, appeared on “CBS This Morning” to talk to Gayle King about the night that changed his life forever, the night Louisville Police barged into his girlfriend’s apartment and killed her unjustly. In speaking to King about the killing, Kenneth was very clear on one point that has served as a fulcrum of controversy in this case.
He says that under no circumstances did the Louisville PD properly identify themselves before firing 6 bullets into Breonna’s body, “I’m a million percent sure.” He couldn’t have possibly been more clear about this cold hard fact.
“I didn’t have a clue, that’s why I grabbed the gun,” said Walker during the emotional interview. Kenneth continued to explain that if he or Breonna knew that it was the police, then they would have undoubtedly opened the door because they had no reason to suspect that they were under investigation, nor committing criminal acts for that matter. THEY WERE ASLEEP! IT WAS 2 IN THE MORNING!
It’s sad that this young man has to continue to defend himself against untrustworthy police who are playing a civil-rights-denying game of CYA at Black folk’s expense.
The investigation behind Daniel Cameron’s unjust decision to not charge the officers involved in Breonna Taylor’s shooting is still underway. On Monday (Oct.12) the attorney for the anonymous grand juror who filed a request to speak out publicly about their service on Taylor’s case appeared to be in the process of being prevented by the Kentucky AG who has sent a request to potentially stop the juror from publicly speaking on the case until after state appeal.
As we’ve previously reported, the anonymous juror revealed earlier this month that Cameron allegedly misrepresented the jury’s case to the public and that the jurors weren’t even given the option to indict officers Mattingly and Cosgrove.
Rest in peace Breonna Taylor. We hope her spirit can rest despite the fact that she will be barred from proper justice here on earth. F**k 12.
