Hmmm… Historically in HIP HOP beef has always been ‘go to’ method of gaining publicity. Think about it. Every sinlgle rapper in history who has achieved some level of commercial success has become a target for other rappers who want to come up.

Commercial success makes you a target in hip hop regardless of whether your music is whack or great.

People really should read more about history. During the renaissance period. The truth is that the “industry” simply wants to put out what the masses will buy. If you have a broad audience you will be put on. If you lose your audience you will be dropped. Thats why artists disappear so easily.

Artists like Souljah Boy actually SAVE Hip Hop not kill it. And create oppurtunity for other young artists to get on.

Why/How you ask?

It boils down to economics. It takes money to put together, promote, and market a CD and most times that money comes from record companies. Most Artists CD’s actually loose money and if not for the occassional smash success of a Soulja Boy, Run DMC, Hammer, Ice T, Lil Wayne etc. none of the record companies would be willing or able to take a chance on the next kid rapper that comes along. They do it because they are trying to be the company to sign the next Soulja Boy and in the process the next Nas will probably get a shot too.

So to the Hip Hop is dead crowd… Commercial success is essential for Hip Hop to stay alive because they all are doing it for money and they want lots of and that is what you all don’t understand.

Why is it we always say a young black kid could be climbing in your window instead. Like if he didn’t rap that he didn’t have other options. If he wasn’t doing this there are other positive and productive things that he could be doing instead climbing through your window. He could be going to college, he could become a doctor, lawyer, engineer,a contractor, an entrepraneur, or he could be preparing himself to run for President of the company he lives in. So see don’t limit this young black man nor others with he could be doing this or climbing through your window.

Now his music is crappy but people seem to like it. I think Ice T is too old to try and have a beef with this young fellow. Instead he should try to set an example, but, I guess that would be hard to do when you are always putting your wife on display. It is time for some of these older hip-hop artisit too grow up and act their age. This man is almost 50 if he is not already. Grow up Ice T. You are a grown a man. It’s time to start acting like it.

Im originally from cali, but I grew up in cali and brooklyn, and Ive been in atlanta for 10 yrs now. I am pretty well rounded when it comes to hip-hop from these regions. The only people that I knew of that liked Ice-T were the gangstas and the wannabe gangstas. I have an appreciation for all music whether it is hip-hop, neo-soul, rock, reggae, reggaeton, latin, r&b, etc. Music is an art and a form of expression, if you don’t like what someone is expressing K.I.M.
