The Science of Stardom

Will Smith continues to throw around hints about his connection with Scientology. On the Today show this morning he said:

“I study the patterns of the universe. I watch how things happen, because they happen the same way over and over again. Definitely plot it out in advance. But I would say, as far as hitting the mark for exactly where I’m aiming, that’s kind of rare. There’s a flow of the universe that I’ve grown to know just how to go with it.”

Well if that doesn’t have a Scientology twang to it, we don’t know what does. Sounds like Mr. Blockbuster be hittin’ up those “Ouija Board” parties (or whatever cult-like foolery Tom Cruise and the rest of the Scientology gang engage in) on a regular.

Personally I don’t care what he chooses to study. I like his movies. He seems like an involved parent and husband. That really counts for a lot in my book.

Scientology or not, whatever the f*ck he’s doin’ is cakin’ him up. Will’s untouchable…

    I couldn’t agree more.

What people study and believe in is their own business. If he’s not shouting out shameless plugs on Scientology in the middle of his movies or records, I could care less.

I don’t know anything about Scientology so I don’t know if what he said had that certain twang to it. I wish I could hear the whole interview because I’d be interested to know what his universe is like. It doesn’t sound like mine.

applause, applause! i whole-heartedly agree!..i really don’t think he is studying scientology, he is probably fascinated as to why they don’t believe in God.

Scientology is a bona fide cult. I won’t support him if its true.

  • raven

    Whatever.

He better shut his trap before he can’t even make one movie a year, like his pal Tom, let along one blockbuster. Middle America doesn’t like cult freaks and they’re the ones who love his damn high-octane Michael Bay movies.

  • Nikko

Some of y’all are real narrow minded.

This man obviously goes beyond learning about more than what he was taught to believe in (Christianity or whatever) and people want to go off about it?

It sounds more like some of YOUR minds have been warped by accepting what your grandparents told you was truth rather than researching and learning about OTHER things yourselves. Yet y’all wanna down this man for seeking his own knowledge?

    SMH

And at the end of the day, Will still seems to be sooooooo happy with his life while his critics are just…well, critics.

Why the heck is this darn cult so powerful, anyway? Actor’s/Actresses etc. earn a certain amount of fame and they go bonkers and believe that ish? For God’s sake, get your head out of your damn ass and see how ludicrous the entire belief is. My GAWD.

And this goes for you loony RELIGIOUS Christians too.

  • BellaY

    @ I’m just me,I agree with you 150%!

Will has said he is not a Scientologist. He could be quoting from “The Secret” too, I have that dvd and I watch it often. I don’t much about Scientology, but they have a center not far from my house. My hair stylist joined, and they have really been effective in helping her overcome dyslexia. As long as they aren’t killing people, or spreading hate like some religions, people should leave Scientology alone!

  • BellaY

    ^^^I don’t know much about Scientology^^^

  • Lush-Us Lipps

    JESUS is the answer!!!!!

  • raven

It’s not about me being pessimistic. It’s just written in history how cults end up ruining a lot peoples’ lives. And there have been several instances this year in Scientology when people have denounced it.

They’re all a hoax. All of them. But believe what you want. I’m not here to judge. Just spout opinion.

  • Nikko

    @ Envy Me

Posting messages telling people that someone is a Scientologist, or anything for that matter, because you HEARD about it on Access Hollywood (somebody help this child) is just as ridiculous as 6am referring to me as fat for defending Jill.

I’m 5′ 7″ and haven’t weighed anymore than 128 since I’ve been in my 20s. Hence, it didn’t make sense for me to respond to that fool since he obviously doesn’t know what he’s talking about. You, on the other hand, I questioned about your source since you said Will “definitely” is a Scientologist, as if he told you that himself.

But on that note, I’ll leave you alone. It’s cute to know that you check my other messages, though. LOL

  • Rotex

    I seriously hope not!

  • My son’s parole officer said it’s gonna be alright!

I SEE A VERY SAD TREND GOING ON IN HOLLYWOOD FROM WILL SMITH TO OPRAH. IT WAS THEIR FAITH IN GOD THAT GOT THEM TO WHERE THEY ARE AND AS SOON AS THEY RECEIVE THE BLESSINGS, THEY WANT TO FORGET AND LEAVE GOD. IT IS SOOOO SAD!!!

  • Kevin W.

Dianetics, the book which Scientology is based on is very deep. I had to read it twice just to fully clarify some of the concepts. After reading the book you will find you can go further into finding a deeper meaning in your own life and your everyday surroundings. I am not a scientologist, but whatever it is they are teaching, the knowledge is expensive. I also think it scares some people because the German government has moved to ban it as a religion in their country.

  • Nikko

“I am not a scientologist, but whatever it is they are teaching, the knowledge is expensive.”

This is what I don’t get. Why does seeking knowledge, of any kind, have to be expensive?

If it isn’t required to take a cross country trip to some high mountain top where travel guides are going to direct you to a prophet who’s then going to give you ALL the answers to life, I don’t see why ANYBODY should have to pay a penny to seek knowledge.

  • Nikko

    CIAO

  • raven

I don’t know about you Kevin W., but we, as a caring human race, should be suspicious of anyone who speaks like he or she is an Ewok.

I’m not saying persecute them into damnation. Or fire and brimstone on their asses. But, be careful. Because they are NOT working within the realm of reality. I guarantee it.

  • bree is an OBAMA supporter.. YES WE CAN!

    @ Envy Me

i don’t believe you! in my heart, i hope he hasn’t converted to the science cult.. :-(

  • raven

And ditto w/ Nikko on the expensive knowledge ish.

If it weren’t a damn cult, it should be as readily available as any philosophical teaching that one could find in a public library.

  • D

“The Secret” is a sensational book, later turned into a movie by Rhonda Byrne about the Law of Attraction. The Law of Attraction is nothing new and practically focuses on your attitude on life. Thinking exclusively about what you want, and never about what you don’t want because like anyone who has a life worth living usually knows is that you bring in what you project. Will Smith sounds nothing like a “Scientologist” or whatever people try to categorize him as, he sounds like a man who’s an exceptional student of personal development and someone who wakes up everyday trying to be the best him possible. It’s hilarious to see people knock on other people like will because they can’t break from the confines of their negativity to be who they want to be and live the life they want to live. I don’t know a thing about scientology but I do know that it is very naive to call something a cult, a student of history, like Will Smith, knows that every major religion in its introduction was considered a “cult.” Change bothers the hell out of a lot of people and create outdated people and outdated information, if only more people could realize change and see how it benefits them and others around them and be accepting of the way others practice their lives we wouldn’t live in such an ignorant society

  • My son’s parole officer said it’s gonna be alright!

    @illuminate Truth

You said that the creator gave man/woman law. Where is the law written? What is the law? You called out a few religion but I trying to figure out where you get your rule book from?

  • Kimber

Ima just say that I have the upmost respect for both Will and Jada, but Im sorry Will is gay and Tom Cruise is his man. I just wish our society wasnt so hell bent on crusifying gays in Hollywood or anywhere else.Being in relationships with people tend to influence new ways of thinking.

  • My son’s parole officer said it’s gonna be alright!

    @ Illuminate Truth.

The Bible mentioned the word religion once and it is describe as a true religious person would help the widow and the fatherless. It’s in the New Testement but I forgot which book. I didn’t understand the point you were making when you called out the different religion. It’s not religion, it’s having a right relationship with God. And yes, that also means following his commandments. Jesus said if you love me you will follow my Commandments. He also said out of all the Commandments the greatest of all is to Love God with all your heart, soul, and might and to Love thy neighbor as thyself. If you do those two things you will have all the commandments covered.

  • SoWhat

How come when Erykah Badu is talking all that same ish about “being born under water with $3 and 6 dimes, cyphers and whatnot”, no one accuses her of being a Scientologist? Is it because she’s not friends with Tom & Katie? Leave Will alone. Who is he hurting?

  • My son’s parole officer said it’s gonna be alright!

    @SoWhat

Will can and will do whatever he want to do. It is free will. We do have opinions on the matter but overall, he can do whatever he want to do.

  • Chaka

All I have to say is, go into a Scientology church and see if you leave with your wallet and your right mind. This organization is not a joke and is not based on free will.

  • Chaka

    @raven

I agree. I read the St. Pete Times where a major center is located and they’ve done a series on people who have spoken out about the church who ended up mysteriously dead. They’re not locating in black communities because we don’t have the cash to support the organization. They mainly target educated people with healthy bank accounts. I figure most people in Hollywood join the group since it bank rolls a number of projects and movies. If Will’s a member, I am stepping away.

  • Lovely One

“The man that sleeps on the floor cannot fall out of bed” – - Martin

I believe the previous statement makes more sense than what just came out of Will Smith’s mouth. Money makes black people weird.

  • CJ

@ Raven plz chill, dog Don’t talk about Jesus yo leave him alone. Seriously thats mad disrespectfull how would you feel if someone is insulting your fam chill 4 real.

  • CJ

@ Raven you know how many people has actually been declared dead and awoke. Countless Jesus was not the first so that makes your comment very ignorant. That still happens today ocassionally some things are hard to explain.

  • CJ

You know why scientology is so stupid. Know one can explain the universe 100% not even astronomy. We are constantly discovering new plants 100′s of light years a way so to know the universe is just wrong and ignorant. know one knows the universe is a very complex solar system they must have those tibes in the head like the freakin Matrix and can transitmit information about the universe through computers!

  • Lilyflower

Oh, so good to hear that. Seems I have seen he at an interracial dating club blackcentury.com or somewhere just like that. Not sure whether it is true or not.

  • phoenix_simone_xoxo has 9 months til my big day

    Who cares?

  • TodaySpongeBob

Will went and got all brand new on us just like Oprah. Now Will is opening his own Hogwarts Academy and Oprah is a New Age televangelist( the Secret is that the law of attraction brought her some PIE). Anyway, Oprah and Will were both known for being genuine. It’s what endeared them to the American public. Now they seem to be doing imitations of themselves and come across as big phonies. Sorry, Will seems sweeter than a box of Cap’n Crunch–despite the pretty wife and cute kids.

As for the Scientology thing. That’s a cult started by failed science fiction writer and occult enthusiast L. Ron Hubbard. Master Will seems to be spouting the “universe” mumbo jumbo and is one diabolical laugh away from sounding jussssst like that nut job Tom Cruise. Here’s hoping Hancock isn’t his Pluto Nash.

  • Aalimah

Will is a thinking man. Nice to know – all these years I thought he was a clown. Newfound respect from me. (Can’t say I can quite decipher what he is thinking though….lol. But who knows, that may be a deficit on my part).

  • Niobe

@BellaY: Scientology IS killing people. Lisa McPherson for one. Scientology rips apart families, abuses children and bankrupts people with brain washing techniques Hubbard picked up from the Russians. Everything they do, from not being allowed to touch your newborns (!) to not feeding them milk but barley water to demonizing psychiatry (so you feel bad about seeking outside help) is focused on keeping people in line and pay pay pay for the churches.

As for the Secret, it’s a MLM scam, the same old new age BS in a shiny new wrapper, making the promoters a bucketload and people will forget all about it and happily buy the next BS Oprah promotes, and she promotes A LOT OF BS.

  • ImpeachW

Will Smith only has a high school education, so he’s easy prey for Scientology.

    Ditto Tom Cruise, & John Travolta’s a HS drop-out.

    I see a pattern here..

  • Black, Yet Very Well Educated

    @ImpeachW

I hope you aren’t a religious person because they’re all comprised of ignorant ill educated fools.

This is particularly true of the christianity myth that African-Americans cling to like retarded babies.

  • fabulosity

    HE NEEDS JESUS!

  • Black, Yet Very Well Educated

    LOL @ “fabulosity”

    Thanks for making my point.

  • kai

could be Theology..i read a book called “space, time and self” and it was a mixture of it all, and Im not a scientologist, im catholic….bad part about it is scientology got a bad rap from killing that one lady from starving her for too long..doesnt make scientologists all crazy…some of yall are narrowminded to other religions..and thats bad all in itself…lol

  • Azdelish

I always thought he was a sale out. I can not stand him his fake ass wife nor any of his movies

  • kai

@Kevin W, I have also read dianetics in its entirety..most of the time these books teach about the “knowledge” of life and when you do know ENOUGH you are divine and closer to God…it had a lot to do with the universe and its processes, but it does not exclude the belief in God…read people

  • Nikko

“Will Smith only has a high school education, so he’s easy prey for Scientology.”

    ——

Here’s another example of how ignorant peope are.

Will was accepted to MIT before he decided to do the Hollywood thing. Therefore, this man could have basically done anything he wanted, because he was just that intelligent. He decided to go the Hollywood route and has been turning it out ever since.

And for those of you calling him a “sell out”, what the hell did he sell out? Oh, you mean movies and record sales? In that case, you’re right, he is a sell out.

Y’all fail to mention all of the Black non-profits he contributes MILLIONS of dollars to in order to help Black kids, but y’all ignorant asses wanna call him a “sell out”? I swear some of y’all grew up going to school on a short yellow bus.

  • Nikko

    @ Kai,

    I couldn’t agree more.

People fear what they don’t know or understand. They’re quick to criticize when they “hear” about things that aren’t the norm to them.

I actually feel sorry for some of these people. God gave ALL of us the capacity to gain as much knowledge about our Creator, His universe, and other living organisms, but people are so narrow minded and AFRAID to learn new things, that when they hear people speaking on an educated level like Will, they run and hide the same way they do when JWs knock on their doors.

  • Lacombe Redbone

    Thanx Nikko!!

I have just enlisted myself as your personal cheerleader!! lol

No, seriously, you exampled that perfectly!

  • Lacombe Redbone

My bad,…you explained that perfectly with a good “example!”

    lol

(working while typing doesn’t mix! :)

  • MINDSLAVE

the revolution of the people against the powers that be, cannot happen, so long as the people are controlled.

I am MINDSLAVE and i approve this message!

  • enigma

I think a lot of people commenting don’t have an open mind. In our world today if we start hearing stories of a man who can walk on water(not David Blane) or turn water into wine, or having people following him and spreading this new age teaching we will discredit this person and think it was all a lie or a joke and we probably would fall for this gimmick. But this is the story of Jesus who had a hit on him before he was even born because people at that time didn’t want change.

  • My son’s parole officer said it’s gonna be alright!

    @Nikko

The problem is…there is only ONE truth! Again people are entitled to whatever they want to believe but Jesus said I am the way the truth the the light, no one can come to the Father (creator) but through me. If anyone is speading anything other than the truth than you have to leave it a long. There is a such thing as false prophets. Beware of them or you will fall for anything. Not everything that sounds good is good.

  • My son’s parole officer said it’s gonna be alright!

Sorry, I meant *and* the Light
